After I did a task 29 weeks ago, my hd 2 started to act strangely
I frequently stuck at the white htc screen (w/o version numbers) after reset
must take battery out and put it back and try again until it boots
today, I tried like 20 times it still won't boot, so I try to flash a newer ROM, it didnt boot either, so I use SD to flash back to stock, overwriting everything, but the problem persists, I cannot boot into stock ROM. So I HSPL-ed, reflash radio and ROM, still the same. Now I totally cannot boot into WM, always stuck at white screen, can enter tri-color screen or hard reset but booting cannot be done.
I booted in 3 times today, but it hangs after a few minutes and after pull out battery/soft reset, same problem again....
Any solutions, or I just have to flash back to stock and send for warranty.
still no reply/solutions?
my soft reset button gonna spoil alrdy, booted 4th time jz now, but hangs after 1 minute
Try doing a task 29 make sure u get the correct radio for ur phone and after task 29 reflash if u do a search u will find task 29 info

i use a 2.12.50.02_2 radio and all the rom i flashed requires 2.XX.50.XX radio
task-ed 29 again, still the same....... on energy/chucky/stock, use radio 2.07.50/2.08.50/2.12.50
also, I stated that I flashed back to stock the problem still persists, so the main cause is not ROM/Radio
PS: Now I flashed ChuckyROM (which changes the bootscreen), and I am stuck at the new bootscreen (STILL WITHOUT VERSION) again.
another successful boot, but auto reboot 30 seconds later
FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Start from the bare minimum and setup the ideal conditions for the phone to boot - keep things cool, remove sd card, full batt, etc. You could try the stripped down winmo rom that is used for loading Android (haret) quickly. It only has the essentials to load into windows.
My GF's HD2 seems have similar probs to the common freezing hd2.
I thought that this was an interesting quote from another thread.

cambxo, have you checked the battery connection pins? People have experienced symptoms similar to yours (resetting and never getting past the boot screen) when one or more of the little gold pins gets bent. Can't guarantee that's the issue, but it's worth a look.

I love threads like that. heh. We'll fix this. Now that Android is getting more refined, eventually you could use it as a troubleshooting tool. It would help differentiate NAND problems from CPU/Batt/Heat problems.
thanks, it partially fixed my phone, i straighten the gold pin and allow the battery to cool for a few minutes(by removing and re-applying) before each boot, now it is able to boot into winmo.

I was trying darkstone HD2froyo. After that i wanted to go back to Winmo. But in Winmo Sense did not load anymore. So i made a Hardreset, but the problem didn't go away.
I decided to flash a new ROM. After flashing i first could use my HD2 normally. But after a while it stopped responsing after going to sleep. Also a Hardreset didn't solve the problem, rather it became worse. First it stopped booting on the orange Windows screen. Now it stops on the white HTC screen, where it says "quietly brilliant".
Is there anything more i can try?
honestly I always turn off sense and revert back to titanium before running android. something about haret makes it run wonky. the devs say haret shouldnt effect your rom as it isnt altering anything.

I had this problem once too.
Fixed it by removing Android from the SD card, hardresetting WinMo untill it was fully functional again, then plug in the SD and reinstall Android from scratch.
It could be that some files on the SD interfere with Sense from loading..
Good luck!
I have the same problem. but, I flashed mine to another WinMo ROM, now the problem disappeared. I am just waiting for a full version Froyo to flash. Not trying another Android until then.
Did you flashed a ROM that has already worked stable on your phone or did you use a new one? Maybe its a problem of the new ROM and not of Android...
Sometimes (at least for my problems with Android) it also helps to 'cleanup' (backup data, format and reload only needed data) your SD card.
Good luck...
I had the same problem 30 min ago, I had Artimis v25 WWE on a 2.10.50.19_02 Radio..
I fixed the problem by,
* Removing SIM and SD Card
* Hard Reset device
* Task 29'ed it
* Flashed new Radio
* Flashed Miri's rom v17
Now I'm good to go again and didnt touch my android i had on my SD Card,
the only reason i still want WinMo, is because of the .avi playback... Android doesnt seem to be friends with .avi or divx extensions
Thanks for your responses, but i think my HD2 is dead. I can not boot into Winmo anymore. I removed the SD and the SIM, i made a hard reset (several times) but Winmo is not booting. All it is showing is the orange Winmo screen and the progress bar.
/edit
I can not execute Task 29 because i can't make a Active Sync connection anymore.

I do not know what have caused your phone get brick, but afak there are some android rom which have not root access. Those roms writes some info directly in your phone memory instead of the storage card. I am currently running the desire v5 which have root access and all the information from Android program or phone tools remains at the SD but not in the phone, so removing the SD is enough for make disappear all Android traces.
I do think that in your case you are using a ROM which writes some information directly in the phone. Just my try.
did you mean decomposed?
hi all, long time viewer first time poster, i have been reading many post on the net trying to find a definite answer on my tmous hd2 but with no luck. My problem started when i was running android (sandisk mirco sd, yes i know the incompatibility issues, it came with the phone). I was playing music through headphones while charging and suddenly the phone froze with a buzzing sound until i battery flipped, first thing it did when i started it back up again is vibrate approximately 5 times at boot flash screen (indicating excessive heat?), so i battery flipped again and waited 10 mins then i tried to start again and it just froze at boot screen, it would keep doing this and every now and then it will boot to wm, but sooner or later it will freeze in wm and then have booting problems, its still doing this today after doing all the following: 1.flash another custom rom. 2.flashed another radio. 3.task 29. 4. flashed stock rom & radio. 5. flashed nandroid 6.tried different capacity and brand sd cards & none at all.
I now have a hd7 because I couldnt fix it and didnt want to shed the cash they are still asking for a hd2, but i do want to fix the phone to play around more with it, i did look at the possible solution unbrick with jtag thread but im thinking the phone is perma bricked, when it was working it has had alot of custom rom flashes so i dont know if that makes much a difference but i would greatly appreciate some advice, THANKYOU XDA FOR ALL YOUR HELP!

Please mention your RADIO, HSPL and the last Android Rom in which this happened!
If your phone is booting, it's not bricked. Did you try another SD card? Have you tried doing a low level format on your SD card? If it were me I'd Format the SD card with an adapter on my PC, low level. Then I would put it back in the phone then run Task29. Then flash MAGLDR 1.1. Then Flash the CMY 1.4n Desire HD Nand build in the HD2 Nand Android Development forum. It's the most stable Nand build up there right now.
I would use the 2.15 radio that comes with the newest Tmobile ROM. You might have to download the 3.14 ROM from Tmobile and flash it first to get the Radio in there. Then Task29 after that. MAGLDR, Then the NAND build. Make sure you find the Task29.exe that doesn't have a radio paired with it. it's on this site somewhere.

hd2 running MIUI freezing up too
I'm a complete noob here so bare with me. I'm currently experiencing the same probs as lewy255 with the hd2 freezing up. It happens every now and then when I'm accessing certain apps. When the hd2 does freeze up, i have to take the battery out, wait, then boot up again. Once it tries to boot up it freezes on magldr, then i got to take out the battery again, wait, then power it on again. It seemed to happen when i first rooted my hd2. The first ROM i flashed after rooting was typhoon CM7. Currently have:
HSPL 2.08
radio 2.15.50.14
MIUI version: 1.5.27
I hope this isnt a hardware issue cause i bought this phone from one of my friends and he didn't have the receipt. Please advise on what i can do to fix this freezing issue.
Thanks
Sounds like cpu overheat freeze. When you were playing music and charging it the first time it froze, was the phone and/or battery hot?
It's very possible that it got too hot once, and now the cpu its self gets too hot much easier now that it has already happened once.

No I do not think that will help your situation. I think your HD2 is starting to show signs of hardware break down. More specifically a breakdown in the connection of the processor and the main board. The only permanent if this is the case is to replace the main board.

I tried installing setCPU and adjusted the temperature setting so if got too hot then the speed of the phone would be reduced, but still no luck.
What if i unrooted the phone and put everything back to stock? I think that way i will know for sure that its a hardware issue. I dont know much about phones but your probably right. I'll try running task29 and reinstall everything and see if that works, if not then i will un-root and put everything back to stock and test.
Is it an undervolted kernel? Might cause problems, but I'm with mac here on it being a hardware problem, since you flashed back to winmo stock and you still had problems.

in my opinion and its just my opinion, but you should flash a winmo 6.5 build than boot android from sd its safer because theres no need to worry about battery dying in magldr. and if theres a nand rom you want to try out i suggest using port a droid. im using now with the new nexus 2.8 with a 1gb data.img and it runs great plus i have 3 other builds on there also.
broke my old hd2. insurance sent me a refurbished model. flashed hspl, then nrg sencity nov 24 to get back to my previous setup. running core_droid_evo_0.8. was impressed droid brought evrything back to the way i left it. but.... since then the phone constantly freezes. tried hard reset. 1 out of 10 times it will actually finish booting after pulling battery, then to just freez again. I didnt flash radio 2.12.50. it came with 2.15.50.14, and that sounded newer. didnt think that would make this happen tho. any clue?
i appreciate all the views this thread got but. Ive tried the famous search bar and it never works! always says try back in 30 minutes. I cant sit here staring and digging thru pages of threads to find answers. at least shoot me a link to an appropriate thread please
If its a refurb then I'd return it to stock and tell them they've sent you a faulty handset.
Are you talking about freezing in WM or when your using android??
You could try reflashing after doing a task 29. Might be worth trying a different energy rom just to see if the freezing issues are still there........
If its android freezing, did you restore old backups? try running it without any backups and see if it still freezes.

ya freezes everywhere between splash screen and droid. I cant tell what if anything is causing it to crash. Ive had new phone for 12 hours and have pulled battery at least 100 times.
Personally I'd try and get another replacement.
If you dont wanna go down that route then you should start over from scratch (task 29, stock WM), leaving some time between the different stages of setting up your device to try and see when the freezing starts to happen.

See here for returning to stock (Section 8)
Task 29 is here..
You can get the stock roms from the 6.5 ROM development section.
If you have a Tmous model then be sure to grab the right one.
Android SD card builds are sometimes a real pain in the ass for no obvious reason.
Just because one worked on your previous setup doesnt mean its guaranteed to run smoothly this time round. If you restored a backup with titanium or something similar then try running the build again from scratch without restoring and she how she handles...

if you're using a 16gb sd card this won't work, I'd flash thru RUU or use a smaller SD card.
Also on your Android ROM make sure you're not copying it via MAGLDR because it corrupts data transfer

yes 16gb card is that problem. so do I flash stock rom , radio, spl all separate?
If you flash a stock ROM from the sd card then it wil overwrite SPL/Radio/ROM all in one go.
Try using a 2gb card.
If you dont have one you can always flash via USB.

flash task29 via RUU, then flash custom ROM via RUU, then radio 2.15.50 via RUU, then load the Android ROM via USB mode in WinMo or card reader, then try things out.
edit: flashing task29 takes away the need to flash stock, flashing stock then custom is pointless and actually worse than going task29 to custom, HSPL3 is probably not the problem here.
this is so frustrating!!! I've done everything to a T to get this phone back to stock and still wont boot. now stuck on "stick together" splash

lol,
make sure it's the right stock, don't brick your **** flashing the wrong stock.
put it in bootloader manually by turning off the phone, then hold vol-down when you turn it on, while in bootloader hook it up to USB to PC, then run the RUU and reflash.
Personally I strongly suggest going task29 then custom, unless you want to return it to the store, just go stock.
i did the task 29 then flashed stock tmo 3.14.531 and spl and the radio 2.15.50.14 that was on it yesterday when i got it. it loaded once to stock initial setup and homescreen then froze again. this has to be a hardware issue. fuk a refurb
at least on boot screen it appears stock. requesting new phone
Ive been trying to get my HD2 to not freeze up on me and ive read every where that HSPL2.08 is recommended. I tried searching for a guide on how but all I get is the HSPL/HSPL2 guide
Hspl is hspl2.08 its just the actual number of the hspl
Sent from my HTC HD2
ok ive tried every guide out there but nothing is working. How can I start from scratch??? I want my HD2 to go to where I just got it out from the box. I cant get it to boot, sometimes when I finally do get it to boot android I cant do anything like browse the internet or play games cause it will freeze. I think if I had just a clean start I can get everything to work again. Ive been trying to fix this problem all weekend and today is my last day off until I go back to work. Can anybody help
Just try another build of Android?
If you do want to go back to stock, what phone do you have? The T-mobile one or the European?
I have the T-Mobile one, Its so bizarre. I finally got it to go back to winmo 6.5 but it still freezes, I thought for sure if I got it back to the original OS it wouldnt freeze. Did I do something wrong when switching OS'?
In what way does it freeze?
sometimes when it does the "123 GO GO GO" also if it happens to get past the GO GO GO it will freeze on the HTC boot screen, and I guess if I do to much within android it will freeze. I cant really use any apps or else it just freezes. Like right now I was just editing stuff on the home screen and it froze
I actually have this problem with my HD2 sort of. I dug it out today after a few weeks sitting in my drawer as I thought its time had past. I don't really think there's s fix for it. Maybe restore to stock and send it to HTC for repair? I don't have warranty so I just bought a Desire Z.

Thats weird because I had my HD2 back when MAGLDR first came out and I had Android running on nand. I think I even used MAGLDR 1.11 and installed a ZIP MIUI Android with CWM and I never had this problem. Then my screen broke and I reverted it to stock (Turns out I had no insurance) and now I want android again and I keep freezing. Point is before I went back to stock my phone was fine

Mate,
Have u tried flashing via cLK? using this method can show you whether there is badblock (cluster) in the NAND. I used this method and I found why I couldnt flash/boot Android anymore. Too many badblocks in the NAND. But luckily, I still can go back to WInmo and use it without problem, sofar and I am selling it now
Cheers...
is Clk the clockwork thing or the AD Recovery? Because ive tried it using a NAND and the Zip way. I think theres something wrong with my NAND or something because it was working 100% 2 months ago
AD recovery is the clockwork mod. Clk replaces the magldr. It does the same thing except its only for Android it won't boot wp7.

Last night I installed Gingerbread 2.3.1 on my HTC HD2.. Followed the directions exactly and was able to boot Android and customize and had no problems. Tonight, suddenly my buttons at the bottom (home button, start menu, back, etc) started flashing -- side note: if anyone knows why this happens and how that can be stopped please let me know!! --, I figured I would just restart my phone. Well, when I restarted, suddenly I had no service when I booted Android.
I have rebooted my phone in the different methods (reboot, recovery, and bootloader), tried powering it off and then turning it back on, tried putting it on airplane mode (dunno why) and then back off, took out the battery and sim and waited for 20 min and then put it back in... Nothing has had any luck.
When I boot Windows Mobile, I have a phone signal, but for some reason when I'm booting Android, it isn't there.
Anyone else have a similar problem or can suggest how to fix this? I really want to be able to continue using Android but that's not going to happen if it continues to have this problem...
Flash official windows again, then try NAND Gingerbread 2.3.4 Its great ROM and all works.

try a different rom, the flashing buttons was common on early builds of gingerbread
i take it you are using an sd version rather than nand ?
Try switching to 2G only and see if your signal is back.

Yes, I'm using SD version... To be honest, I didn't really know the difference, but from what I was told NAND basically erases Windows, right? If that's correct, I was afraid of the installation not going right and being stuck without a working phone.

Seems it's a problem related to your rom and not a hardware problem because it works on wm.
Im not familiar with SD roms, maybe you should try a different SD rom or a NAND rom and see if the problem is solved.
Hope u get it sorted !
Since it seems I just need to try a different rom, can anyone suggest a link? I think I want to try SD again just because if I'm having these problems I don't want to completely wipe Windows and not have something to resort back to if I run into something again..

Honestly I don't want to NAND it because I don't want to completely wipe Windows in case I have a problem again... (this is all assuming I understand NAND correctly)... Right now I have a problem so I was able to go back to Windows Mobile. Do you have any suggestions for another SD rom?
Not quite true. You can always go back to Winmo from Android Nand if you are unhappy with it. I used to think the same way but since taking the plunge I've always found it easy to reinstall Winmo in order to use my tomtom navigator
ROM wise there are various fantastic offerings with Android Nand. Some are even spotting the new sense 3. You can try either CoreDroid or LeoRC Mix.
For now head over to the Nand section and read the stickies at the top. There are ample and easy guides on how to prepare your HD2 for a Nand Rom and how you can return to Winmo if you don't like it. If you follow the instructions properly, trust me nothing will go wrong.

I'll give it a try, thanks!
