A number of people are asking for the JF3 firmware that came on their phones. At the moment nobody has this.... so it looks like we can't go back once we've flashed a newer version. Might be worth considering if you need to return your phone.

I don't want to unlock bootloader but I want to back to earlier version of ROM, is there anyway to do this?
no you cant :\
Yeah I found that out when I installed the ERE36B update months ago.
Thought I'd be stuck for ever, but when my phone went back to HTC for repair they put ERE27 back on for me. I was quite happy with that.
I've searched around the forum and can't find anything so I figured I'd just ask.
I ran SEUS and it says there is an update available, and the first time it downloaded a 133 MB file, but i didn't notice anything different when I rebooted the phone. Now it keeps telling me there is an update available, but it doesn't seem to download anything and the update doesn't seem to do anything either.
Anyone have this happen or know the thread where it may have been addressed before?
[UPDATE I actually found some other users in the Update 1.6 by country thread so I'm just going to post there from now on. I don't know why I didn't think of looking in there. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717818&page=30 ]
You need to give us some information about the update and current version you have FW.
Seus has never found an update for my phone. I've manually upgraded firmware twice and currently using ver R2BA024.
Does Seus allow update by country? Has anyone in Australia gotten update through Seus?
I have. When I plugged my X10 in it and I pressed the Update button it told me there is a newer version available.

I'm on the stock AT&T firmware. I just got the phone last week.
I am assuming that you don't know where to read the firmware version.
Push the left button on your phone while you are on the main screen(no lock)
select "settings" and then go all the way down to the end and select "About Phone" and read the last number which is says "Build Number"
The page you are actually on has the least information about your phone.
I am aware that there was an update for ATT last to couple weeks ago but sometimes SEUS goes crazy and notify you when there is none. Your phone probably is branded "means that att has locked it" and you may want to unbrand it (you can search the development section for that) you can also root to get access to all the programs if you need to uninstall them.
Unfortunately Android 2.1 is not out for this phone as of now but it will be. They will first release for unbranded phone (this is what they have told us) and then branded later this year. It may take sometimes for ATT to update but if you wait you can flash a different one when its available on this forum later.
I hope I could help you a bit.

And I assumed you would know that the stock AT&T FW version was 1.6 and the build number is R2CA016 which I thought was common knowledge and is why I didn't initially post it. I guess both of our assumptions were wrong.
I know my way around android and I already knew everything you posted. None of which answers my question except for the part about SEUS going "crazy". I didn't want to even try doing a full root and going to a different build until after the 2.1 update. I've used SWM to load the x10 root app so I could use Titanium to remove the at&t crapware already. I'm sorry if this sounds rude, but I'm not a noob and 90% of your post was made with the assumption I was.
I've been following all of the 2.1 update threads and I wasn't even considering it was the 2.1 update. I just wasn't sure what it COULD have been since I also couldn't find any kind of update history either.

I just recently picked up a dell streak. It's brand new with what I'm guessing it the latest shipped rom which is build number 15274 running android version 2.2.2
All I see is custom roms and reflashing back to other roms to root....blah blah blah...is there a way to just root my current rom and not have to flash a completely new one? I'm all for supporting the community, I'd just like to keep this as device as clean as possible and remove all the bloatware.

Download SuperOneClick v1.5.5 and root away. Dont forget to put your phone into USB debugging mode before rooting, its very important that you do that. Or just follow the steps in this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925853 good luck.
Wow thanks, I totally skipped over that post!!! I guess from what I was reading I was expecting the whole process to be a lot more complicated.
Thanks a ton!
Anytime.

How come Dell don't push out the 2.2.2 version OTA to their customers?
I check for updates every day, but have just once received any. (2.2)
Their way of saying; "we just don't give a f*ck about our customers"?
You should have gotten that update weeks ago. It's been OTA for probably about a month now. And I don't know how much you've read, but a lot of what happened with not updating from 1.6 was probably AT&T's fault because they wouldn't okay the build (speculated). Dell had the source up for 2.2 for a long time, if I remember correctly.
I'm on unlocked stock EU ROM since day one. Just to clarify.
Do you mean the 2.2.2 was shipped OTA, for EU users too?
Ohhh. Didn't notice you were on EU. I don't know if Dell released one for EU yet (probably hasn't since you don't have the option to OTA). Just remember that it's not just the phone maker responsible for updates, the carrier has some say in it, too. Are you still on 1.6? Because you could always try out DJ Steve's ROM if you wanted to try something different.
No, the one OTA update I received, was the 1.6 --> 2.2 on last October.
Since then - nothing. I guess it's only in America people get the 2.2.2.
Thanx for taking time to reply.
No problem, haha. I hope you get it soon
I really want the update to, I'm in the Uk and I'm still on 2.2, I would do it myself but its just to complicated and don't wanna mess up my phone. Has anyone in the Uk got the 2.2.2 upgrade? And to be honest I really wont the 2.3 upgrade, but seeing as we still don't have the 2.2.2 upgrade, I think we'll be waiting a long time :'(
2.2.2?
If someone updated from 1.6, to the "non official" 2.2, is there any difference between it and 2.2.2?
2.2.2 is supposedly immune to the malware loaded from the 50 or so infested apps that Google removed recently from the market.
Sooooo, like alot of people here that either couldn't wait or didn't think we were getting the update, I flashed my x10a with a generic firmware(now an x10i). I believe my original region code was 1233-6929. My question is, how would I go about putting the official firmware back on? I've searched and can't seem to find out how to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
According to this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186045
1233-6929 has been updated to 2.3. There is no need to go back to 2.1.
Did you not make a backup of the 2.1 ROM with xrecovery before you flashed 2.3?
Why do I get that feeling that I'm going to kick myself in the butt for not doing that? Anyway, I should have added the fact that I am currently on a generic gingerbread firmware but would like to know how to put the official update on my phone?
No, no you're fine unless you absolutely need to go back to Eclair.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936733
Flash the 2.3 firmware for X10a with the flashtool. I've got to tell you, all the 2.3 upgrade has the same build number (3.0.1.G.0.75) and the firmware you are currently on is no different, except what the "model number" says on phone's property.
You can try updating the firmware through SEUS or PC Companion, but there will be no difference.....
Alright, thanks for the info. Looks like the owner of the thread you linked here doesn't have all the x10a kits added yet (which I'm assuming includes the Rogers one I mentioned) so I may have to wait for a bit before it's available for download so that I can use it with flashtool? The only reason why I want to go with the official update is because I've had a few glitches with the generic one I currently have. Every once in a while I get some error messages pop up on the screen, one that I can recall is "failed to create media transport" and some other ones. Plus if I ever plan on selling the phone, it probably would be best if it had the official update on it (just itching to get the galaxy s2).
I understand that if i put a custom rom on even another stock firmware for another region other than what my phone came with i won't get OTA updates.
That i understand. I was wondering though how does it know that its not the firmware that came with the phone.
For example if i put BTU on my carrier branded S5 it won't update but how does it know thats not what it came with. What is not changing when it gets flashed.
Is it based on IMEI or is there another parameter that does not get changed when flashing another firmware.
Thanks for your help guys i like to really understand whats going on.
anyone any thoughts

I don't know how it works exactly, but here is one of possible ways:
Samsung stores the device's S/N and the initial CSC in its database.
(You can check that by using Kies 3 software > Tools > Firmware Upgrade and Initialization, enter your S/N and Kies 3 will show your initial CSC).
That way, when you perform an OTA update, Samsung will know if your current CSC is the same as your initial CSC or not.
