How set normal wallpaper like in normal phone? - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi,
tell me how to set normal wallpaper 480 x 800?
The same for every desk or various for every desk.
Gallery keeps cropping them and streching for all 7 desks and its sooo retarded.

Hi Dexter, The streching over 7 desks is part of Touchwiz and i think its just how it works. As for the cropping, when you choose the picture for wallpaper it puts a red box over the picture. Stretch that using 2 fingers to get most of your picture in shot then apply it

Blurry Photo Backgrounds

Surprised no one has mentioned this, when I try to set a photo taken on the phone as the wallpaper, it asks me to crop a selection from the picture. After setting the wallpaper, it is blurry (in the same way a picture is blurry when you zoom in using gallery). I'm guessing this is just a bug that will be fixed in the next update?
When selecting the picture for wallpaper, Select an edge of the yellow box, and stretch it 'till you select the whole photo/as much as you want.
For some reason, multi-touch to zoom in here doesn't work, whilst it does on n1. (n1 running stock 2.2 [FRF91], and Galaxy S i9000 running stock XXJF3)

Hahahaha. God damn. I was wondering why it would only let me select a tiny bit of a picture as a wallpaper and thought to myself - "why the hell didn't they add in the feature that Rawat has just described". For some reason I had never even tried, I just assumed it wasn't there.
So, thank you good sir I can now apply a whole picture as my wallpaper
It's a retarded system. You give it the exact resolution and it makes you crop it.
If you use .jpg it seems to end up blurry not matter what due to poor recompression.
I've found using .png of the right dimensions works much better.
My setup is a folder of .png of 960x800 and "Wallpaper Rotator" to switch between them every x time.

[Q] Dumb question about wallpaper dimensions

OK so I have a picture of a friend of mine that I would like to set as the wallpaper. I don't want it to scroll as I swipe from one homescreen to the next. I want a static image that remains the same. I've googled this for over an hour and I'm starting to think I'm retarded. I've even installed some Wallpaper Set and Save app and its not helping either.
Any suggestions for how to do this? You'd think it would be dead simple. I want the wallpaper to look exactly how it does when I view the picture in the Gallery app.
Thanks in advance.
When you select a photo as a wallpaper, it gives you an option to crop what sections of the photo you want seen. Set it as wallpaper, pinch to zoom the box to get the maximum amount of photo. Then hit Save or whatever.
LauncherPro and adw.launcher let you do that. It also lets you do some other handy things.

I have Launcher Pro and the only option I see is "Disable wallpaper scrolling" which sounds like it would be great, but each time I choose an image it still gets cropped in the Gallery. Maybe I'm not seeing another option?
Go to the gallery.
Select the picture you want.
Hit Menu, More, Set as, Wallpaper.
It will come up with a box overlay. Touch the edge of the box and drag it out so that it expands to encompass the whole or the vast majority of the image.
Hit Save.
Now you will have the entire image set as your wallpaper.
That did not work for me. I have a wallpaper to the specific size, and it still makes me crop it no matter how I go about it.
Well yea, you are going to have to crop a TINY bit off the edges probably. Is it that big of a deal? The wallpaper would look like garbage if it tried to cram a weird aspect ratio picture into the Epic's aspect ratio screen. Faces would be squished or elongated. But only a TINY TINY amount of the photo gets cut off when you do what I said.

Wallpaper issue on CM7

I cannot get wallpaper set reliably in either landscape or portrait. Setting 1024 x 600 pics through Set and Save, Crop Wallpaper, or Wallpaper Wizardri usually just sets the top 300 pixels of the wallpaper. If I use Quik Pic or Gallery it forces me to crop the correct size down. The crazy thing is somehow last night I got Quik Pic to set the whole wallpaper without cropping it by opening the image then doing menu options set as quik pic wallpaper....but then a bit later it changed itself back to the top 300 pixels. Now doing the same sequence it forces me to crop the 1024x600 down.
I've been dealing with this problem ever since I got my Nook and I just can't figure it out. I've ran across a decent amount of posts but nothing works, or works for long. Any help would be much appreciated

try multipicture live wallpaper via market. it can fit to screen your pictures so that they would both look good in landscape or portrait.

Wallpaper Set and Save has worked for me. In Market and free I do believe.

[Q] Keep wallpaper aspect ratio

I have a quick question... when I set the picture to be the wallpaper, once it is set, the image is magnified like the phone zoomed in.
Any way to keep it from doing that?
On some ROMs that I've loaded on my rooted epic, the wallpaper fits perfectly. But when I snap a pic and set it as my wallpaper, the image is magnified.
TIA
When you go to set the picture it sould pop up with a crop box in it. You have to stretch that box to the full picture then set as wallpaper.

Nexus 7 wallpapers?

No matter what, even if I use a portrait picture, when I set the wallpaper there's no way of getting a high res background. It just stretches the image and only shows part of I on my background. Even in cropping you can only choose a small part of the pic and it becomes low res. Any way to get some actually good non-stock nexus 7 wallpapers that will actually look high res in portrait. Any body else hate this?
It will always display the image over more than one screen unless you use an app, if you want to display the whole image it has to be the correct aspect basically twice the width of the screen resolution in portrait 1600, if you use an image with a height of 1280 and width of 1600 your be able to select the whole image without cropping but it will still be displayed over all of your screens.
If you want to display a wallpaper on your home screen in portrait without any resizing cropping then make it exactly 1280H x 800W and use the app "Image 2 Wallpaper" which allows you to add the image without any resizing at all.
If you want to display an image larger than 1280H x 1600W over all your screens then there are also apps for this as well
If you use Apex or Nova launcher you can disable wallpaper scrolling and force your home screen to portrait mode. Then you could use an app like Wallpaper Wizardrii to set your image for portrait mode only.

I did a Google search for Nexus 7 wallpapers. Found a bunch of nice ones that look fine.

Can't see the attached files, please update your post.
It appears that 1406x1280 (WxH) is what the stock crop tool likes for a full fit.
