I wish. None I can find. Get ShapeWriter if you can find it as it works. Installing the Swipe APK I have from backup gives me force closes.
Try signing up for the Swipe Beta and hope it opens up again ;0
you need to login again to get the latest swype installer, then from there install swype
I can't login to anything for it. It come preinstalled on the mytouch 3g v1.2

I asked this just a couple of days ago. You have to root and uninstall Swype, then download and install the latest Swype Beta (if you are part of the beta).
And don't forget to delete the lib file or it won't install

Anyone have any idea why my Swype installs (grabbed the original APK from the launch Eclair OS, as well as the Swype Beta from the site) don't work? Install works fine, but when I go to use the Swype keyboard, I get a FC and no keyboard.
Remove swype then use swype beta that should fix your problem.
Btw swype is the only app the force closed on me like crazy when I pushed it through root explorer.you have to flash it

I fixed the issue. The beta was the one I was getting FCs on. I had to flash the edify Swype .zip provided by MidnightROM's site.

Yup, superoneclick root, then download rom manager and install the custom recovery.
as for roms i recommend ezGingerbread, but I my self is starting to get annoy with these force closes, and i doubt its the apps, because they be different apps that force close randomly and i would have to reinstall the whole app .
Super one click worked for mine too. Good luck =]

You can use SuperOneClick or go to the "traditional" way using SDK.
I flashed CM9 a couple of weeks ago but I'm not liking the new keyboard at all. Using Swiftkey 3 Beta currently.
I have an apk of the Defy Multi-Touch Keyboard.
When I try to install it I get a message saying there already exists a same apk of the same name with conflicting signatures. I want to flash my old keyboard real bad.
1. Tell me how to remove the existing apk. just tell the name of the apk. I know how to remove it
2. Else tell me how to flash it
Please help

Try replacing it in /system/app I think it's called Latinime.apk. That's the name in gb. Set permissions like three other apps and reboot.

can't remove with Term or ADB on CM9.

You can use swype beta. I am using it and it works fine. Just that you need to install with its own installer available at the swype page
Swype is terrible compared to the Droid X/Defy keyboard...it's laggy

During some fevered app removals from my rooted N7, I removed the stock Swype keyboard (I normally use Graffiti). Now I want to reinstate it as an option but neither 4.2.1 or 4.2.2 upgrades have shoved it back in.
How can I get it back, please?
Just go and get it out of one of your backups.
You do make backups before you start modding things willy-nilly, right?
What's that? No backups? *sigh*
How about if you make a backup of your current ROM, install some ROM that has the files you want in it, copy the files out of that ROM to your SD card, restore the backup from the first step and patch the files into place?
Check this out too: you could actually use a pure stock ROM as the source of your missing files, and while you have it temporarily installed, make a backup of that, too! Then you would have a backup of a ROM which is capable of accepting the OTA! Wow!
Think of the possibilities: the next time an OTA comes around, you can restore the pure stock ROM backup, perform the OTA on that... and ... and.... make a backup of that new pure stock ROM too!
Oh My Dog, my head is beginning to spin with the possibilities. I better step away from my tablet before somebody gets hurt.
Make Backups. Early and Often.
Removed? Or disabled? Could just need to set apps back to default?

Swype is an app downloadable from the play store. The stock Android keyboard is called Android, even though it does support swype type operations now.
If you want the Swype keyboard, just download and install it.

I don't see Swype in the play store.
You can get the Swype beta (the latest and greatest) by signing up at the Swype web site. I put the Swype beta on all my devices, even the ones that come with Swype.

Right - the Swype web site is where I got the beta. Really installed it for the excellent included voice support.
