How to connect to internet using WiFi in HTC Touch 2
Hi,
I have wifi connection in my building and I got network key.
Handest successfully connected to wifi.
But I am not able to connect to internet using this wifi connection.
Plz anybody tell me how to connect to internet using wifi connection.
Thanks.
Perhaps the signal strength is not sufficient
no. signal strength is ok.
my friend is using it with Nokia E72
Which IEEE standard (a, b, g, n )be used his router?
Does he have any MAC filtering enabled on the router?
Have a look in that direction.
I do not think it's up to your phone.
he just activates wifi and starts using internet. nothing else.
but for me i am able to connect to wifi,
but i want settings that required to set in "settings->connections" to select wifi as internet.
i used internet using gprs service without any problem.
thanks
* have you checked the proxy settings?
* MAC filtering on the router?
* is there a firewall somewhere?

Hi
I have a WiFi network at home (802.11g), the network does not broadcast a network name and also has 64bit WEP security active.
When I turn on Wirless Lan On I cannot find my network.
When im out and about and turn Wireless Lan On, I can connect to any network thats available.
Has anyone got any ideas how i can setp up my PDA to work with my Wireless Network at home?
Many thanks
Matt
Hi,
I tried to connect my XDA to my works wireless network. I needed to get my MAC address added to the DHCP server so my IP address is assigned automatically in my department.
So, when I turn on my Wi-fi it finds the network and I select 'connects to Internet'. The connection now appears as 'available'. Next I tell it to connect and it displays 'connecting.....' then simply returns back to displaying 'available' again. No connection, no error message.
Does anyone have any idea what I may have done wrong? Surely if using DHCP I dont have to configure DNS etc?
Any advice would be great.
I had the same problem with my home wifi.
My wifi router was transmitting on wifi G only.
And when i changed it to B+G wifi transmission, and then it worked.
I then realised that the Exec has in fact a wifi B only...(i thought it had a G since windows mobile 5 is supporting G... but no...)
ok heres the deal... i have a MDA flashed with the software from att for the 8125 everything works great except when i turn wifi on, i can connect to the network but cant ever get a page to work. does anyone have any suggestions????? please help
Is this happening on any network or your home network?
Check this... go to Settings - Connections - Network Cards. Make sure the WLAN Adapter is set to connect to the internet. Then tap the WLAN Adapter and make sure IP Address is set to Server Assigned then in Name Servers you don't have anything. If any of these is different, change it to the above.
Yeah. I have the same problem. I have wifi pci asus, the signal is good. I have Lan tru router and now bridged connection. I set the ip, mask and gateway which are in the status of the brudge. And the internet explorer and opera wont load pages.?!??! dns isnt set.
The network adapter is sdio wlan.., and the connection is my work network in connection > connections > advanced >select networks.
i use wm6, nbd 8.0
What could be the problem???
it is home network and all other wifi locations
i know there is a problem with secured networks, especially with wpa encryption. try to remove the encryption and see how it goes....
I have removed all encription. I tried preety much everithing and it doesnt work. All other free wifi networks work just fine, i can surf on internet.
what router do you have? i know that i could not connect to a 3com router with the wizard with any rom i tried.
try using a defined ip address and dns, meaning no dhcp. use a real dns addresses and not the default gateway...
Phone is connecting and receiving an IP and strong signal no problem, but can't get any type of internet to connect (imo/opera/market/facebook app etc...) there's no proxy or password... Notebook and other computers are using the network fine.
Any suggestions?
nm.. got it.. had to set DNS in wifi -> advanced.
you can ask for help to the sellers.
Check on the router, whether your phone is correctly connected. Try to download from the market some wifi software, that gives more information about connection - i. e. Wifi Manager.
Do you use official firmware or a custom one?
The DNS information should have been provided as part of the DHCP request.
Any firewalls?
Does the phone work on other wifi networks?
Hi, New poster so if I've posted in the wrong area please don't bite
I've been connecting my phone to a smart device (miracast-ing 'direct') but as of late the connection has become unstable and generally unusable. I had the brainstorm of using an old router to stabilize the connection, this seems to have done the trick but now I'm unable to access the mobile data as WIFI has assumed priority. Please bear in mind I don't have home internet so the router is being used solely as a go between for phone and smart device. Is there any possibility of WiFi connection whilst have access to mobile data or is this just a pipedream?
Thanks in advance
You can just start a wifi network from your phone, connect the smart devices to your phones wifi and use mobile data normal as internet connection (this is standard if you start a wifi network from phone). You wouldnt even need the router with this szenario, if the wifi signal of your phone isnt strong enough you can connect your router to the phone and extend the wifi with the router.

But creating a mobile hotspot won't help because it doesn't solve the faulty (actually non-existent) miracast connection, plus I don't need a hotspot because only the phone needs internet access. My earlier explanation was probably a bit vague.
My goal is to mirror my phone's screen but to also have internet access solely on my phone.
Phone➡Smart Device➡Display - Can't connect (used to work faultless).
Phone➡Router➡Smart Device➡Display - Connects but no mobile data available because the phone thinks the router has internet access covered.

Creating a hotspot is not for giving the other devices in your network internet access, this is the only way you can use the wifi on your phone with using mobile data at the same time. I dont know why but android devices never use mobile data when they are connected to a wifi network and there is no internet access available. So if you configure your router as a wifi repeater and setup the phone as base station, your wifi signal from phone to router should be good and you can connect your other devices to the router, the phone should see all devices in the same network if you stop the dhcp server in your router and only use the one from your phones hotspot. Should look like this :
Phone (with DHCP) <----Router---->Smart Device---> Display

Cheers will try it out.
Hopefully that sort of config is available on my router as it is loaded with a custom firmware from my old ISP provider.
Thanks

Router ISP custom firmware seems restrictive (no advanced wireless settings) plus WDS is not officially supported.
Possibly achievable but beyond my technical savvy
Thanks for the advice anyways.

Do not use WiFi 5Gz , use only 2,4Gz, and wifi 5Gz off for router and smartphone
