Evo keeps using wrong area code - EVO 4G General

I did a quick search on this, but could not find anything outside of some very old WM threads.
Anywho, every time I attempt to make a local call, the phone prepends an incorrect area code. It just stated doing this and the only changes I have made recently were to download and then promptly uninstall Launcher Pro and ADW Launcher.
Any help would be appreciated!

I've had this happen occasionally since I got my X10 running the original firmware (014). I tried for quite some time to isolate where the problem was coming from but to no avail.
I did start a thread about it about a month back: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724746
The phone had been good for a few weeks (I was running mostly 023 at the time), but then had this happen again yesterday when my fiancee called me.
I think it may have to do with the caller ID in some way, because I've never had it happen when I received a call from someone not in my phonebook. However, the majority of calls I receive are from people in my phonebook, so that may just be coincidence.
You just gave me a great hint. i only have this problem with people calling from my phonebook. I don't have the roger caller ID since 12 bucks on top is pretty much robbing me and it never show me the phone numbers.
I don't think it is that, but i will give a few tests.
I do have caller ID through Rogers, so I don't think it would be the lack thereof causing it.
I did try in the past deleting all my phone contact's photos, but that didn't seem to help.
look like only you and me having this problem.
You mind listing apps that auto run and ran before it happen ?

[Q] android.process.acore stopped unexpectedly

Hey guys....I've had the Glacier for two weeks and I couldn't be happier. I got the OTA 2.2.1 and rooted it without any problems. Then, today I got a "android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly" only when I go to the phone dialer or contacts. Everything else works perfectly. Earlier today I changed the boot animation and the splash screen...both work flawlessly. I changed the boot animation back to stock and see if that would fix it but no luck. I have rebooted and taken the battery out several times but no go. I checked around and no one else seems to have the same issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....Thanks in advance.
Edit...I just fixed the problem...I had downloaded a Tmobile voicemail app that was causing a conflict. I uninstalled it and I'm golden again. I appreciate the help. Thanks.
I've had this come up intermittently since rooting, and haven't been able to nail it down to one specific action or app, etc. It's happened since doing perma-root, and doesn't seem to matter if I'm running stock ROM or CM6.1 Alpha (which I flashed last night - had this pop up once or twice since).
It's annoying, but hasn't caused any real problems so far.
Would be nice to figure out why it's happening, and find a resolution.
What apps, if any, have either of you deleted since rooting?
Does it write any useful exception information in the log file?

I haven't deleted any apps...just hid them under general settings using Launcher Pro...the only other thing I did different today was unlock the SIM using the code Tmobile sent me but I can't imagine that has anything to do with it....Just can't access the Phone at all or the Contacts without a force close...I'm stumped...
Trying to figure out a good way to upload a log file...
I think it might have something to do with permissions..it said among other things...
W/dalvikvm*3381):Refusing to reopen boot DEX'/system/framework/com.htc.android.pimlib.jar
not sure what that means....
Please post questions in Q&A section.
Yep, I'm having the same issue. It does it when I'm using a few applications like Twidroid, even ChompSMS, and another one. I'm thinking it has less to do with what applications I'm using at that time (meaning it would do it no matter what application I had open) but those 2 I use 95% of my time on the phone.
& I as well have not deleted any applications only freezed them with Titanium Backup Pro.

[Q] T9 Contact Search in Default Dialer

Hi everyone.
A co-worker of mine recently showed me something from the OTA update that happened a month ago. When he types in a number, or spells out a contact name, the dialer searches for the most recent contact that matches, either through spelling or phone number, and displays it, with a link to other matches.
I've been missing this functionality since WinMo 6.1.
To regain this functionality, I tried DialerOne, didn't care for it. I'm now using aTAKEphONE (had to pay for it) which is decent, but not fantastic.
Last night I installed Gummy Jar and I'm loving it so far, but I was disappointed to find that the T9 Contact Search in the default dialer was't included. .
Is there anyway to get this functionality without switching ROMs?
Depends on if this source code for the dialer includes this functionality. If this is a moto blue feature, then probably not.
Im not sure whether source includes it or not

Thanks for the reply.
I found this lurking around and reading threads that are way too long for my eyes, but if anyone else is interested, this should help out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10040454&postcount=454
I wasn't able to get it working, but other people in the thread said it worked, so I'm not too sure what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks again, lets hope I can solve this.
the function works in the latest Apex rom. But it keeps a lot of the blur components. Well like the cool dialer. And the blur camera and video camera. But everyone has their own preferences.

I'm having this same problem, did you get anywhere with this?
are you using cracked versions? it may cause the problem
No using the paid version, seems to not like some roms, tested last night and it worked with oxygen rom but not with flb r7 rom
might be because i'm using cf3d? not sure, doesn't matter too much as i have it working on my other phone anyway, was just interested if there was anything i was doing wrong or if it was just not working with the x5
Anyone get this thing figured out?
program is bad. there is no way to first try and then buy
Sometimes the best thing is test first and buy later. I test it one day and that was enought, i don t like it a bit... so many people talking about this program and i think that the only use it can have is to do a showoff. For me not usefull

You have to login with the same gmail account used to buy the program... i think its not possible to change to another account.
I never had problems reinstalling aplications purchased earlier, only need to use the same account from the purchase. It's were is kept the information of your buys...
OK thanks, I thought that was the problem....!
That is the trouble now is that i can't use my old gmail account due to that 2 step verification. i can access it through my computer but not my X5 OR OTHER ANDROID devices..never mind.
Gmail/google have some stupid methods, since i used that 2 step veri things have gone wrong..
thanks again
G'Day and thanks for your help.
The team at spb have finally got back too me, all fixex
But after using the launcher Android 4.0 - 360 Launcher i don't think i will use spb shell any more. It is great..
Thank you, but spends more than charge

Google Dialer - On LG G3

Greetings XDA Members,
I've searched for quite some time, with limited success on keeping a stock rom along with Google Dialer. The best of both worlds if you will, that would allow great features without the loss of another. It was always a debate between using a AOSP rom at the loss of the camera, or sticking to stock and working with xposed to change settings to an agreeable state. With endless google searches, forums read, and opinions given by others; they all seemed to end with "Not Possible". Well, with some trial and error I have found a workable solution that will allow the Google Dialer to replace the stock dialer, and also allow for "In-callui" to replace the stock one.
It also needs to be mentioned, that I cannot guarantee this will work with your variant, custom rom, or other items not factored into the equation. Though this has worked for me without fail on the ATT Model D850 on Cloudy 2.5 but there are a few details to note. The "In-callUI" will show for both Incoming & Outgoing calls, but you will first see your stock one come up for a brief second or so and switch over. For me, this isn't an issue as I don't immediately answer or hang up when a call completes. Some of the items recommended in the prerequisite are optional and provide other ways to find/adjust permissions, or freeze/delete applications (Stock dialer). I'm not personally an avid developer, but if you have any questions I've been able to gain a great deal of knowledge over the years with hands on experience with the Android operating system. Feel free to ask any questions that may come up, and I'll be happy to assist if possible.
Pre-requisites;
LG G3 - Rooted
Custom Recovery with knowledge on Flashing ZIP files.
Root Explorer / File Manager
Nova Launcher / App to launch an activity.
Titanium Backup (recommended to backup Dialer and other applications in case of damage)
Included in the attachments is the file GoogleStockDialerAndMms. This file is a flashable zip that will automatically adjust the permissions necessary to make calls. It's highly recommended that you make a backup of your current rom with TWRP/CWM in case any issues arise. As this adds two files to your system directory, there is always a chance that an error can occur.
If you choose the route of Nova, you can create a shortcut to an activity. Below I've included a screenshot of which activity needs to be chosen in order to use Google Dialer.
Within Nova Launcher, long-press on the home screen.
Choose "Shortcuts"
Select "Activities"
Find "Google Dialer" in the list, then tap to open it up, and select "Phone" (use the first one in the list)
Can I disable my default dialer?
The short answer is no. As a general rule, you will need to keep your present dialer enabled in order to receive calls. The long answer is that on some phones you might be able to disable your stock dialer, but on others you definitely cannot. Feel free to try it on your own device and let us know what your results are. If you choose to do attempt this, I highly recommend against uninstalling and instead move to FREEZING the phone applications with Titanium Backup or similar root enabled application.

@resitm As far as I have heard and seen so far, it will work locally depending on the information generated from your local area by google. Please let me know if you attempt it and it doesn't work.

Good job on this even if Im already running an AOSP based ROM, I dont need this.
But you took time writing and explaining everything so thanked all your posts,
Have a nice day

i flashed the zip and everything seems to be working fine. i am also able to search close by businesses, i typed pizza and it showed me the closest pizza places.
the only FC i am getting is in settings when i tap call settings-voicemail, call waiting. i don't use that so its ok for me. thanks again.
also i did not have to create a shortcut, the app icon was there after restart.

@Paradoxxx Thank you for your kind words, I'm just glad I was able to give a small contribution to the wonderful community I've used for years!
Good job on your work! I also like Google dialer. Many thanks
This does work on VS985 5.0.1. The settings does crash if you click whatever the second option was (Went back to stock for my own reasons).

@SyCoREAPER thank you for the update!
Doesn't work here....either when triggered from a Nova Settings widget or from the icon in the launcher. Instant force close. I can try to grab a log if you think it'll help?
D852, running Dene_Bluesman's rom (basically stock LG 5.0.1)
Edit - wonder if its because the rom version i'm using is odexed? Going to try the deodexed version and report back....
Edit 2 - nope still crashes instantly. Super frustrating! Please let me know if a log will help! @Eruvion
I want to try this on my lg G2, is there any reason you think it might not work? Anything that would make this zip specific to the G3?
+1 on this. would like to see if we can get this to work on Cloudy for G2.
Hi
This thread seem's a bit dead. Anyway i have flashed this file and it works. I am on N&N 1.3 rom. It's a stock mm based rom.
