Test Message Ringtone - neoTouch S200 General

Hi i heard from from the acer company that acer neotouch doesnt support long message ringtones such as long songs. Is there a way to enable it so that it supports long song files ?

Wav file length and formats

Hi guys
Does anyone know if there is a limitation to what you can have as a ringtone?
I have done what *seems* right, it even plays on media player on the M1000 but I cannot get the wav to load in the "Add Ring Tone" section.
Does the file have to be some obscure wav format or no longer than say 20 seconds etc?
Has anyone come across this problem as well?
Cheers
Ben
it have to be good old std wav which is called PCM
not sure if there are any length issues
try
looking if it shows up in sounds and notifications
or make sure the file is places in windows or windows\rings or something like that
Ok - I have tried a standard PCM wav and it still doesnt like it! Also tried a short 1 second one and that doesnt work!
Confused? I am!!!
did you put it in windows ?
did you put it in windows/rings ?
did you try and see if you could choose it under sound and notifications insted there you can choose both phone rings and others
add ring tones are mainly used for adding wma's

Wav,Mp3 Wma in Alarms.

Hi ppc users and enthusiasts, i have a question that nobody has posted i thing, i have bem looking around xda and i didn't managed to get an answer. My Qtek S110 Jam_12.1_PTB doesn't acept no wav, mp3 or wma files as alarm tone altough i can use them as ringtone or anything else, yes, i can find and select the sound in the alarm select menu but it always goes to the Ring -Default-
Thanks for the help in advance as i know you guys can solve my and other people problem.Sorry my bad english

Try some software that overtake the system default alarm handling and see if it works for you
Wav,Mp3 Wma in Alarms
Thanks, but actually i already instaled spb time which is the best for the simple task of alarming me to wake up. I really want to know why this stupid phone doesn't support mp3 and other formats in alarms, the audio codecs are the same to the whole system but why dont they work Rrrrrrr!
Does anyone wakes up with the alarm sound that it makes? or... as my self, wakes up with the vibration of the phone... i really don't get it...
Blame microsoft... just another thing i forgot to mention is that the screen should blink but it doesnt. why? i already hard reseted the phone, changed soft. version 1.11; 1.12.05; 1.12.10 WWW-PTB, nothing it just simply doesnt react. what i really wanted was a reg change to make it work, if the device uses a .dll to control the audio codecs it may be changed by reg and so we people dont have to give away another 10-20 bucks for a thing that should work from the begining. Help?
I'm probably plain stupid cause the alarm files are all wav & I can't think of any reason why the magician wouldn't accept them as an alarm tone. & surprise surprise it does actually work on my magician with 1.13 WWE rom. Tested with an own recording. MP3 didn't work with alarm, but does work on reminders, message reception etc. WMA not tested.
Cheers, M
Put that limitation down as something that would have improved with HTC Prophet
how do use mp3 as tones for messages? i tried moving mp3 to windows directory but i can find it in tones...
Hi nm8,
Does WindowsMediaPlayer play these mp3's? If not you have to get them in a format WMP can recognize, otherwise it won't work.
M

Search google for a mp3-wav converter, cant remember which one i use but will update post when i get home and check.
Remember also a mp3 song converted to wav form will be a very BIG file, better to sample just a small ( very small ) section of the track and then use this for sms notifications.
There is a program called phonealarm that you can use, you can choose any sound you like for SMS.
First post....hello everybody.

I use Audacity (free) to edit MP3 first by selecting the part of the song or clip I want to use as a alert. Then you can remove one channel (right or left) which cuts down the size quite a bit. As far as I know all PPC speakers are MONO so there is no need for a stereo ring-tone or SMS alert. You can also change the bit rate but don't go to low or your sound will be distorted. Audacity also allows you to adjust the volume of the output alert so you can have a nice loud sound and attract allot of attention when you pull your phone out. LOL.
Also Remember that a SMS alert is (I think) shorter than a ring tone alert. (ring tone alert is between 30 and 35 seconds) I wont get my 8525 till Monday but I have a E-TEN M600 and I believe the length of the SMS is the same as the 8525/Tytn.
One thing to note: you can mute a ring-tone when someone calls but I have not found a way to mute or stop a SMS alert when it comes in.
After you have the perfect RT/SMS alert as a MP3 find a free app out there that will convert it to a .wav. I use a app that came with Nero.
You can also try Ringo. This is a app that will allow you to assign a different sound to any incoming sms message.
ie. I get a traffic update via SMS everyday before I go to work and I assigned the sound of tires screeching and horns blowing impatiently as my SMS traffic alert.

some issues

well i got this xda ii mini in german and replaced it by english rom, i think successfully but i still have some problems, for ex. i cannot add mp3 or anything else as my incoming call tone, just widnows default and ring, but i can add my mp3's as a message tone. then i would like to see battery life on first screen, i don't want to enter every time in settings. and i must add that in settings> system i DON?T have icon add sound

Hi toxic,
Official support was not built in the ROMs so you have to use an extended software to attain it. Try SetMp3AsRingtone. You can also manually copy your MP3 ringtones to Windows/Rings folder. Then you can select them from the Sounds & Notifications.
Try installing SPB PocketPlus. It comes with a whole range of functions and displays.
Cheers!!

I agree with this, but there is one more way to set mp3 for ringtone. Probably you will install some programs for playing mp3 music (Pocket Music or some other), but the key is in setting which program will associate that *.mp3 extension, if u allow some program (different than Windows Media Player) to automatically play this files, it will make u trouble when set the mp3 for ringtone, it won't ring, not any sound at all! So be carefull when choose file types in any program for multimedia file types (*.avi, *.mpg, *.mp3, *.wma ...) the best is to not associate them at all with any other program except WMP. This will work 100%!
Cheers to all!!
Thanks iwans for the addition.
u can try phone alarm too for mp3

Messages ringtones

How do you add a new ringtone under new messages? When I receive a message I would like it to play a ringtone of my own. Any ideas?
Put them in the Windows folder - I used wma files too

Just so I don't mess up and end up with files all over the place would that be;
Explorer>Windows>Rings ?
I know it sounds simple but I can mess up even the easiest jobs on these things!
Matt
You can put them in 'Internal Storage\My Documents\'
Then you don't have to worry about the space
I cna't tell you how much that has been annoying me and yet the answer when it came was so simple... a bit like me!
Matt
PS And it works with my ringtone as well... thus freeing up the space on my device memory! You know, I sometimes wonder how I get through the day without hurting myself!!!
I place the files in 'Internal Storage\My Documents\'rings or music
so I don't waste space and it's all well set!!
I have two problems with this:
1. Storing ringtones on the Internal Storage makes them show up in the Music tab! No thanks I don't want to listen to ringtones when playing my music, is there a way to stop this other than keeping them on My Device memory?
2. The topic is actually regarding message tones and not just ringtones and I cannot see any of my files to select for a meesage tone. They are MP3 files which work fine for ringtones.
Does this phone not allow MP3s to be used for messages?

1. Don't use the TF3D music player!!
2. I have no problems with mp3 message sounds... and I have them in 'Internal Storage/my Documents'
I quite like the TF3D player actually and I'd rather use the built in one than go to run another app especially as I use a stereo BT headset and press play on that which automatically starts the TF3D player.
I've put loads of MP3 files in Internal Storage\My Documents\MyRingtones and while they all appear ok for actual ringtones I can't see a single one for use as a message tone, only the default files are there.
Is there a size, bpm, frequency limit or anything?
Anyone else managed to use MP3s for message tones?

In order to use mp3 ring tones for mssg tone u need to put them in the root directory of internal Storage it works fer me like a charm....
Cheers
cut and paste the file in windows then u can go back to ur sound settings
Thanks for the replies putting it in the root has worked though it's a little untidy. I've also found that My Device\Application Data\Sounds is a working location. I thought I'd already tried that but obviously not
While we're on the ringtone topic, has anyone found a way to store mp3 ringtones on Internal storage and NOT have them show in the TF3D Music Library?
I'm wondering whether removing the ID tags from them would work though unfortunately I don't have anything to do that with where I am at the moment, I'll try tonight.
Just to update to this, removing MP3 tags doesn't work and the file alone is still recognised and included in the TF3D player.
Are there any locations on internal storage which WILL show up for selection as ringtones but NOT in the music player?
MP3 ringtone
you can place a mp3 file anywhere on your phone and then tap and hold and set as a ringtone. i belive this does automaticly move it to the phones memory tho as well as being on the extra storage.
hey anyone knows how to download mp3s from your phone
ps: i dont no if this is the good place to ask this im srry if it isnt im new thats y
thx
Assigning vibration to a specific contacts text messages and calls
Hi, sorry if this does not belong here, I think it is at least related . Does anyone know if there is an option (can not find it in the settings of the touch diamond) or tweak which would assign vibration to a specific incoming text message? Meaning: when I turn down the ring tone not to be disturbed acousticly, I want the phone vibrate only when one specific contact calls or sends text message. Thanks to all for any ideas
