OK so I am apparently too stupid to work this out.
I have taken cabs and downloaded the files in teh HD2 LEO package thread for .NET framework 3.5 and 3.7
Your directions are to merely copy the extracted folder to the SYS folder. (I assume and check it off to add to the ROM) So, do I uncheck the original netCF? I am thinking no and havent done so.
At any rate, the folder structure I have looks like what is in the EXT folder for other packages (has a files folder an app.reg and an app.dat). I notice though that the SYS folder is pretty flat with files directly under the package name and I don't see reg files or app.dat files.
Having copied the decompressed folder to the SYS directory and checking the box I don't get it in the ROM. WHen I run apps that require 3.5 I get a message stating its not in the ROM.
Thanks for any help! Thanks.

Copy the attached file (extract it) to your EXT folder, select it and unselect NET in your SYS.

I tried your suggestion, thanks, and it did work for my 3.5 apps but I am also running the VLINGO app that came in the new ATT ROM and it complains at bootup with an exception that isnt there when the 2.0 framework is installed. For the record if I manually install the framework it also works fine.
I guess I will need to pick apart the install and make my own framework package from that.
Ok I made my own package that co-exists with the 2.0 framework, perhaps mark this solved? Should I attach my package?

sorry, i couldnt find asap the thread,
but its not a real problem of you, its a "kitchen"-problem or "other"-problem.
search for LEO_External_Packages\Notification_Enhancement_X in this thread and you find your solution.
The same happens to me, i just dump the original rom, without making any change just compile it, no errors just say ok ready and when i flash it i got the same result.
I use ervius kitchen
Any help? please.

Post nr. 2 contains the general solution. But since you're using EVK you can skip a step or 2.
In the LEO_External_Packages folder (somewhere in the EXT folder) go to the Notification_Enhancement/files folder. Look for the folder NTFConfig.dll (that is a module that you want to turn into a file). In the NTFConfig.dll folder look for the file NTFConfig.dll . (EVK has prepared that file for you). Move it temporarily to another folder. Delete the NTFConfig.dll folder and copy the NTFConfig.dll file to the root of the Notification_Enhancement/files folder.
Thank you very much appleflap i will do what you told me.
Sorry but i dont understand what was recmode, i saw an app in tools i try to execute it but it didnt nothing to me.

HD2 cab install

hello guys, i dont own an hd2 yet but ill buy one this month but i have a question i want to add some cabs file on my device when i get. My question is i have download some cabs BUT when i open the winrar i dont get any cab file, all i get is some files that has bunch of numbers and one of them says "_setup.xml" so what should i do? should i directly put the winrar file on my hd2? since i dont get any cab file inside the winrar?? and if there's a cab file inside the winrar and i press the button "extract here" should i just upload the cab file only to my hd2 right??
Hope you guys can help me.
Thank you.
Hi.
A CAB file is a compressed installer file for mobile phones.
If you open it with winrar, you will see all the files it contains.
Just copy the original .cab file to your phone.
Click on the .cab file, and it will run the installer, and install the program on your phone.
You can choose to install to the main memory or the sd card.
Yeah - as above. What you're calling a "winrar" file is the cab file.
Extract a cab
Ok, I know this isn't the original question but...
is it possible to extract a .cab file - i mean to extract all the different files that make up the program , all the .exe .dll .ico etc etc. Wanting to do this to help me reverse-engineer a couple of omnia 2 cabs that don't work.

Tried that, all I get are 10 files. One of them is _setup.xml, the others are numbered files.
I've attached a screen capture of the files so you can see what they are.

Yes that's what you would expect as they are the cab install files.
If they don't mean anything are you sure you know what you're doing?
That's what I'm trying to find out. I assume that the WM program works in a similar way to windows program in that its a collection of files (exe, ico, dll, cfg so on so forth) that get installed in the appropriate places on the device. If so, how do you 'unpack' these files from the setup files
use a cab manager program. I don't so I can't recommend, but wincecab manager sound familiar. u can use them to create cabs of your tweaks, install files and such.
it seems that you have never used windows mobile (just copy the winrar file into the device and run it from the device)

I'm not trying to install a cab file (which the first post was about) I'm trying to decompile the omnia 2 video editor to get it to run on the HD2 but instead of starting a new thread, I asked on this one because it seemed (partially) relevant.
BTW, I've got the cab 'extracted' so thanks - no for the difficult part...

Cooking SDKCERT in ROM

Hallo everybody,
I just want to ask how I can built in SDKCERT directly into ROM.If I want to convert SDKCERT.CAB to EXT then after I have again CAB so newerending story.
You won't need to use the SDKCERT package. If you are using Ervius Visual Kitchen for example, all you need to do is ensure that Disable Cert(ificate) checking is selected. This way, your compiled ROM will already have Certificate checking disabled allowing you to install updated drivers and such.
This tutorial discusses some of the changes you'll likely need to make:

Np.
Here is a little tip for future...
most certificates are in cab form, open the cab with winrar, you will see a file called;_setup.xml, that is the cert info.
just rename _setup.xml to mxip_999_certname.provxml and you done.

Did I understand correctly that I would need to add this to each package that needs a certificate?
Thanks
He said that you need to add this in every cab that need certificates, if you use EVK or Oskitchen you dont need anything because they auto patch the certs.

Thanks. The problem is that I've tried quite a few times to install the Vogue Camera as an EXT with EVK, and I always end up with the "The file 'camera' cannot be opened. Either is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of it's components cannot be found." etc.
Did you tried the solution in post #3?
For which device are you trying to install?...from Vogue to -> ?
Sometimes from different devices isnt a certificate fault but some missing dll.
Check for this app Dependency walker and search if you have all the modules to make run camera Vogue.

Hi Lewy1,
You are missing a package dependency. If you navigate to the .\Windows folder using File Explorer on your device and try and launch the Camera application, you will encounter an error - confirming that you have dependency issue.
Have a look at this post:

Yeah, that is just a generic error message, and it almost never has anything to do with certs. You could be missing dependencies, or it could just be that you have a broken shortcut. One of the problems with the 6.5 start menu is that you can't always tell just by looking that the shortcut is effed, because you may have an ico assigned through the registry. Use Total Commander to see if you have the correct shortcut path.

First of all, thanks guys for your help!
Yes, your right that the problem is also when I try launching the camera from the windows directory. Now the problem is that I don't understand too much when it comes to digging into the contents of these files, so I think I'll need some help.
I assumed I needed Dependency Walker which you wrote about in your Kitchen Utensils review, so I opened the camera.exe and the results are attached as a Dependency Walker Image. The camera EXT I have come from converting a cab that's been floating around XDA. By the way I had the same problem when using the mega camera.
Thanks so much for the patience and help.
Had a look at the .DWI file you attached. Your next steps:
Create a folder on your system (ex: C:\WINMO_OS)
Copy all of the camera package files to the folder.
In DEPENDS, remove all of the "Module Search Order" paths - Options menu.
Add the folder path (ex: C:\WINMO_OS)
Search your kitchen for each file that is listed in CAMERA.EXE and copy them to the folder.
Once you have the files from CAMERA.EXE in the folder, open each of the yellow ( ? ) files.
Repeat the steps above until you have examined all of the files in the folder you created.
Essentially, you want to locate all of the files listed in each .DLL, .EXE, etc. that is displayed in DEPENDS.
If the files appear in the .\SYS or .\OEM folder, it's likely those aren't the issue. Some files may be modules; it's likely those aren't the issue as well - I usually RECMOD a copy of the file and place it in the folder or I copy it from the device when connected using USB. This will reveal additional files that are "missing". I suspect you will discover the missing dependency to be in another file. If you find the files in packages, it's likely the entire package is a dependency. If you can't find a file, make note of it and continue on. At the end, post the list of files you couldn't find.
Lastly, examine each of the .REG files for references to other files; you may need to do a global search through the kitchen to find other packages that may be writing to the same keys ... these will likely be dependant packages as well.
HTH,
* EDIT *
If at all possible, it would be beneficial for you to find the official source ROM that the package originated from.

[TOOL] MUI Sorter v1.00 (sort *.MUI files to the matching LCID\files EXT subfolder)

Description
Finds all the *.MUI files in the folder where the tool is executed and sorts them in the matching LCID\files subfolder (the subfolder will be created if not present).
How to use
Put the tool in the folder where the files you need to sort are and execute it. It doesn't have any output or completion message, it just exits after the work is done.
Nice and useful app, thanks for sharing...but:
_ would be better if it should work with subfolders ,meaning, I put it in EXT folder and launch it(actually it works only in folders where are .mui files).
_ there is a way to grab the .reg files too?
Im speaking about a kind of app that can sort Mui files separated from app in EXT folder.
EG:
Adobe PDF v2.5.1.0.378273.04H
Adobe PDF v2.5.1.0.378273.04H_0409 <---this what your app should do.

[Q] First ROM with osKitchen

I'm starting to learn how to cook my first HD2 ROM using osKitchen Zero. I imported the 3.14 WWE official ROM to it (build 21913). I just want to make sure that I'm on the right track so I'm going to make a list of the changes I've made within the kitchen and ask a few questions if that's possible?
SYS Packages
I removed all the components labelled as "Useless" as I figured I'd try to save some space. They are:
Autoupdate
Bth_HID
Enterprise
IPSECVPN
Sample Music
SqlCeMobile
WWAN
Can I get rid of WelcomeCentre if I don't need "Help"?
EXT Packages Exclutions:
JETCET Print (had an error when I imported the ROM so I left it unchecked.
GPS Copilot (I've got TomTom so I won't need this).
Questions:
How should I import XDA_UC into the ROM? I tried to import the EXT from here but kept getting an error.
I added the Cookie Home Tab 2.0 cab to EXT Packages and made sure it was selected but there is no mention of it in the ROM. If I install it manually after a flash then it doesn't say it has been installed already. How do I import it so it is already installed?
Thanks for all you help in advance, I've always appreciated the work you guys so and it's only now I'm finding out how much time and effort is required
I use a couple of the 'useless' SYS packages and since there is a lot of storage space on the Leo I leave all the SYS packages in. I get the same error with JetPrint - its a line in the registry settings that has an extra '\'. I edited the app.reg file and removed the extra '\' and OSKitchen stops complaining about it. I also remove Copilot and include the TomTom .cab in the kitchen so it autoinstalls on first boot.
Not sure about XDA_UC as I don't use it - I just add to the config.txt file (via the OSKitchen 'add2config.txt' method) and autoinstall some .cabs at 1st boot.

Could you give me a quick demo on how to create and use the add2config.txt file? Is it just a list of cab file locations? How do you import the .txt file into oskitchen?
In my kitchen I created a folder called 'common' in the \sources\devices folder. In this I have the path \EXT Packages\Common Packages\. In here I place any packages that I use in different devices. OSKitchen displays EXT Packages in the Common folder for different devices - i.e. I have a Blackstone and a Leo and can see these packages when cooking for either.
In here I have a TomTomVGA CAB package. The folder is called 'TomTomVGA CAB', inside this are two files - 'app.reg' and 'add2config.txt' plus a folder called 'files' containing the .cab file. The 'add2config.txt' file is just a text file and contains the text 'CAB: \WINDOWS\NavigatorVGA.cab'. This gets added to the 'config.txt' file that is read and the items listed are executed on 1st boot'
You can only include .CAB files that don't ask for parameters or try to reboot the device. Where to install is ignored as far as I can tell - i.e. the TomTomVGA.cab if installed manually would ask where to install - either device or storage card and you don't see this when its added to the config.txt file. I used to have an Office Communicator Mobile 2007 R2 EXT package but the latest .CAB asks to reboot at the end of the install and this no longer works. I just install this manually after a re-flash.
Hope that makes sense?

Have a look here, I have built an os kitchen all ready. You can select both 6.5 and 6.5.5 roms. I also have xda_uc as an option in the build. The thread is here:
