I was hoping somebody can help me out. I am trying to debrand my Hong Kong X10i. I was following the instructions online that needed me to download the Hong Kong Generic X10i Firmware (R1FA014). The link is megaupload.com/?d=AAS0XUTZ. Problem is, megaupload is blocked in Hong Kong (ironic on so many levels, I know) so I can't download the file. I have been Googling all evening but I can't find any alternative links. Any ideas? I suppose there are some options:
a) Suggest an alternative link that isn't megaupload.
b) Suggest a way to spoof my IP to bypass megaupload.
c) Someone download the file and send it to me (big ask, I know).
Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ummm... He was typing Cantonese, not Chinese...
Chinese, is what the Chinese would call, 'putonghua', or what you hongkongers would call, 'guoyu', or 'kwokju' in cantonese jyutping.

but in guangzhou or other cities cantonese is more often use than offical chinese .
Oh.. I've met some of those Chinese before... Seriously had a hard time understanding their Cantonese... Actually thought the Chinese would all speak Mandarin, since it's the official language.
Just like in Singapore, though there are different dialect groups, we communicate in either English or Mandarin. I seldom or never speak Cantonese with other Cantonese friends. We normally use our dialect languages when communicating with families and relatives.
Hmm... If only there are alot of Cantonese in Singapore... I'm not saying that I dislike Hokkien, but I just hope I can enjoy HK movies in theaters listening to the original Cantonese rather than yhe Mandarin dubs... You can't imagine how whiny Ah Sa's dubbed voice can get...
And if they play HOCC or Justin Lo's songs over the radio, that'd be great.
Guys, I appreciate the help but this is going way off-topic.

Ask "The dutchman".
But don´t mind if he will "kill" you - because he is searching for a NL RUU for now about 2 Month.
You won´t be lucky until teh HTC update.

@dutchman - just kidding. hehe
I have an unbranded (HTC) device. May work with yours 2. I can extract it if you want.
Great idea and post it on the FTP here ;-)

You CAN flash it back, but only when your device is not bricked. You can use the dump to edit the pagepool i believe, or to cook, but i'm not sure (i'm a little bit of a noob when it comes to ROM dumps)

(it's all classified over there lol) I even said i was willing to pay, but he would not accept it, and he did not allow me to go with him to his work. Sorry I did my very best!

By the way, you're sure it's the correct file? Because the Dutch one mentions in the PDA name:
_HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.48.404.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe
Whereas the English download you provided does not mention HD2 anywhere:

Check out the Leo ROM development section, do some reading and you'll see that all the answers to your questions have been answered a couple of hundreds of times.
To flash a different language (WWE instead of NLD in your case) you can use the Goldcard method or SSPL. Read the respective threads in the Rom development section and if you have any questions, you can post 'em there.

I was wondering how can we allow the HD2 to preview a language other than english, such as sms, email, contacts without changing the GUI language.

Well, yes, that works if one is using an alphabetic language. Unfortunately, such a simple solution is not possible if the required language is an Asian language. Under those circumstances, installing fonts is required, or flashing a ROM that supports the language so that you can also use a soft keyboard for input.
@Som30ne: Thank you for replying, but Arabic is not found in one of the languages
@wacky.banana: Thanks for the tip, I did that already and read through it, perhaps I missed it but i couldnt find anything that referred to adding an asian language.
@rlydiard: So where can I download an asian font for the phone ? And where should I install it.
I am skeptic about flashing the ROM because it voids the warranty, and can damage the phone if done incorrectly.
Thank you all for the help

I wish I could help you more on locating Arabic fonts, but as I am based on the island where HTC is headquartered, I am only familiar with installing traditional or simplified Chinese fonts in an English UI.
There are many talented Arabian members on XDA who can probably start you out in the right direction. Any fonts you acquire can be placed in the Windows folder on your device. This method will allow you to read the Arabic fonts on your device, but your keyboard would not allow you to write, so that is a whole other problem.
Perhaps doing a search of all the forums will come up with some leads on locating an Arabic font for you.

Maybe you should try this:
http://www.penreader.com/pocket-pc/...abic_Download_area_for_Language_Extender.html
What you need is an Arabizer and as far as I know one of the best solution is MOBiDIV (http://www.citglobal.com/mobidiv/home.jsp) It's shareware but really reliable and as far as i Know it has been testet successfully on HD2....
Cheers,
LEE

Unfortunately, not all answers can be found in HTC user manuals, but then, that is why XDA Developers exists in the first place, right? Getting unofficially supported languages to work on our beloved HTC devices is a good example of that.
@rlydiard: Thank you for the help anyway
@Som30ne: This program changes the language of the whole UI, I only want the phone to read another language, keyboard isnt as important now since its a hassle to fix.
@lee1980: Thank you for the link, ill read more into it
Guys I want to ask, if I copied an Arabic font from C:\Windows\Fonts in my computer to the HTC Windows folder, will that work ?
Thanks for the help Really appreciate it !!
Hmm I want to try sending some fonts to the phone, but should I send OpenType or TrueType ?
Can anyone please tell me if I can add fonts this way ?
Hey guys, how come there are many views and no new replies ((
I tried sending a font from C:\Windows\Fonts to HTC Windows\Fonts
But nothing really happened, I restarted the phone and nothing happened as well.
Any thoughts ?
