XDA_UC_NET - Chef's requests - Windows Mobile

Hi, Chefs! =)
I'm going to add an option to run on second (or first) boot to my new program XDA_UC_NET. It's almost like original XDA_UC, but C# based, gives feedback to user and saves installation log, so you can see if any errors happened, it supports environment variables for different folders and some other enhancements.
Now it's almost portable - you can run it any time you want from Start menu, select any folder and install files from this folder.
But chefs ask me to add autorun mode - just as original XDA_UC.
I want to implement it this way
Chef adds to registry path to folder that must be processed by XDA_UC_NET.
Chef adds to registry parameter to tell program if it should run on 1st or 2nd boot.
Chef adds to registry parameter to tell program if it should wait for some time before popup.
XDA_UC_NET starts, read these parameters, display your message (if any, in any language) from given folder. If folder is not found - tell user that it's time to copy this folder to device. At the end XDA_UC_NET installs stuff from this folder like original XDA_UC.
What do you think? Are there any other suggestions how to implement autorun feature?

Will be great to not have that config.txt and of course to have it full potencial like:
1.- search for cabs into #Storage card# (any lang of course)
2.- Maybe a nice image here installing in a animation bar
3.- install this... then this... and at this point hide the UC screen to click some prompt messages from instalation action in many cabs
3.- run this file (lnk, exe)
4.- select any TSK
Finally restart device
this will allows chefs to not add cabs into ROMS to be executed at first boot.. lighter roms you know (i know i can make it posible with SDconfig.txt but not all ppl likes to edit the file every time you know)
Thats my recomendations
Oh BTW we just can make a lnk into startup folder and it will run in first run or maybe you can consider as an idea that you already have make it posible to delete that lnk at the end of the first customization.. or ask you if you want to add more second time the rom boots...

already done - it's main idea of XDA_UC, put your files in your folder and you are ready.
1.- search for cabs into #Storage card# (any lang of course)
Click to collapse
already done - program search given folder, I think it is enough
2.- Maybe a nice image here installing in a animation bar
Click to collapse
in current version program displays every step -
"Install CABs silent"
"Install MSCRs"
and so on.
3.- run this file (lnk, exe)
Click to collapse
there are two options - run and wait, or just run and go next.
I never used this feature for myself, so, please tell me what is the best?
4.- select any TSK
Click to collapse
As far as I know almost all new themes for WM6.5 are distributed as cab files.
And there is a problem in original XDA_UC with Cook.tsk - it's old WM6 version. But I will search for options...
Finally restart device
Click to collapse
already done

these are in the OEM.rar for the 6700 helmi kitchen. Not sure what else you are needing.
I know they are already in the kitchen.. But i want the updated versions.. unless there is already an updated OEM package that i dont know about.. the OEM Package I have was released 12-17-2007..
Well, I can tell you this much. The BuildOS that is in the works now will actually pull updated OEMs from the web. So, I guess you could learn to update OEMs which really isnt that hard once they are setup or hang tight for the new BuildOS.
Holy Crap!
That's great news!
The new builld os is capable of accessing the web to get OEM updates?.. thats Friggin awesome!
Would it be able to look for new OEMs as well as Updating current OEMs?
I can't wait.. can you give us a clue on when this new BuildOS would be available?
can any one attach the new BuildOS here please...the oems will take time as im running Vsita and ill have to setup my lappy as it has vista..sorry
Here are some of my OEM packages

Hi guys, Not so sure Tene wants his cabs posting, maybe check.
Have someone the program "Notes" from WM6 as a cab. file ?
i doubt it - it's in OEMapps(i think) with everything else, and to take only one app and properly check all Reg.Keys for it..... Not worthy even to think about it
Here it is. credit to Dutty Throy.

Anyone with cab files can now build their own packages - thanks to Ervius! And Alex!
This attached tool is part of Alex's Kaiser Kitchen but it'll create OEM packages that can be used across all kitchens...

something is wrong with your file it will not extract. its only 26 k is that possible? well let me know as I have several programs I want to turn into OEM and most of the other programs Ive tried dont work.
hey thanx for this..its works on vista ultimate..but i cant make it open CAB files..it only re-makes prev built packages
EDIT :-
Got it to work..it uses a CAB manager to analyse cab files..its available by the name MSCEInf
the package creater looks for MSCEInfen if the settings are in english or it will look for MSCEInfit if the language is in italian
im attaching the required file..its by default named to MSCEInfen
Here are the Orignal Instruction by the developer :
Converting Cabs to Packages with Ervius Package Creator
If you haven't read someone elses guide before and tried their method of making an OEM package, consider yourself lucky. The manual processes described by some, going through the lengthly process of extracting a CAB file, converting SETUP.XML to registry formats, creating an INITFLASHFILES.TXT manually and so forth takes A LOOONG TIME and I applaud all of those OEM Package builders who used the old methods, because those methods for creating an OEM package was truly an error prone exercise in futility and patience!!!
The method I describe below is semi-automated and uses Ervius Package Creator & Benthon's MSCEInf.exe. Everyone should thank Ervius & BenThon, because we now can convert a cab to an OEM package in a matter of minutes instead of hours...
Setting up & running for the first time
You can skip this entire step if you're using the Kaiser ROM Kitchen w/ Alex's latest updates, as I've included all the files for you. Go ahead and select 'p' from the ROM Kitchen menu and then jump down to 'Steps to convert cab to OEM package'.
All of the files below, plus the cab or the OEM package folder must be in a folder on your C: drive! If not, you will have problems running this program. It's a limitation created by Ervius, not me...
Download and uncompress BenThon's MSCEInf.exe and Ervius Package Creator to the same directory
Rename MSCEInf.exe to MSCEInfen.exe
Run packages creator 5 4.exe. When running for the first time, you will see the following two error messages:
"Error reading Settings file. I delete it!!!" - Click on OK.
"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application..." - Click Continue.
Check the following boxes (settings will be saved in settings.ini for future execution)
Select 'ENG' to change to English.
Check 'Prefix files for duplicate in package subfolders'
Check 'Enable options'
Steps to convert cab to OEM package
Click on 'Open CAB file' and select a cab file to convert.
Click on the 7th icon from the left, 'Extract CAB files with original names in a folder'.
When the folder selection menu comes up, click on 'OK' regardless of the location shown. It will create a folder named after the cab in the same directory where the cab is located.
It will seem like nothing happened, but be assured that the files have been extracted. Click on the X to close the window.
If you really forgot to click on 'extract' and nothing was extracted, an error message will appear - "U've cancelled creating package from cab analyzer... exit!"
The next window that appears, known as the 'initflashfiles tab' is for executable and help file links. Select which files you want your links and the folders to place them. Select and apply for each link and when finished, click done to proceed.
You're now back to the main menu. The UUID for DSM and RGU has been pre-generated. You have the option of going back to 'open initflashfiles tab', creating option.xml with a group, or completing the package.
Once you have chosen the appropriate options.xml category, click on 'Complete Package.
Your cab has now been converted to an OEM package in a subdirectory where the original cab resided.

Hey swampy how you been?
I tried yesterday your recook kitchen... new upgrade version 1.2... but I have an issue after the step when you can mod the initflashfiles... and use that third party app... I cant remember the name the app that coverts unicode - ansi you know...
The kitchen freeze after that I choose save and then close the app hit enter to continue and nothing happens but something change on my system... my multimedia files like video avi wmv (flv is good); music mp3 and wma; TXT and reg files seems to loose its asociation to the respective players and programs... cause when I click twice over any of them... the IE7 launch itself and launching again many many windows and the task manager cant handle it to close them... I cant figured out how to fix this and why this happens so...
I ask you if you have an answer...
Do I need to format my PC?
Im uploading an example of how my machine sees in youtube but is uploading... wait for the uploading process.
thanks men

file asociation on ppc or PC? the kitchen will not change things on it's own only you change thing useing the kitchen so I can't say but if some thing in the kitchen has got corrupted The best thing to do is start again run bat file select 1) then 1) in next menu clean, then run 1) again and past your nk.nbf and so on
YEP!!!
On my PC... even if I choose "open with..." then select windows media player... then "Always use this progran for this kind of file" then open... it opens the IE7 and goes crazy the video file uploading is so slow... what da... jejej i will edit add the link this can helps to understands it... yes I restart the kitchen and guess what it can't open now the HKCU.reg in the step user.hv and closes by itself... i think cause the asociation gets corrupt the kitchen cant do it... and yes i have install the reg workshop as you said...
Hope it works fine next time... I hate... format my PC cause i need to backup in DVD my data...

Sorry mate don't know what could have hapened to your pc but the kitchen only works on ppc rom's the batch file can only access the folder's below it, IE: inside the kitchen folder that the bat file was launched in, so i doubt it was the kitchen that caused your problem, But my son had some problems with IE7 and found all was OK after uninstalling it so before you go formating your pc insert your windows disk and choose repair

small utility: cab batch install (a batch installer) with source

Introdution:
This small app will help you out when you have a bunch of cab files to install after flashing the new rom.
How to use:
1. Select or input a directory that contains a bunch of cab files.
2. Generate the list file that is [INSERT SELECTED DIRECTORY]\batch-list.txt. You can manually edit this file to select which to install.
3. Batch install. It will promot you if you really want to install that file.
Problems:
1. The small utility can not silently install cab files.
Todo:
1. More UI friendly to select the files.
Note:
I am rather new at windows mobile programming. I have learned it from scratch. The whole program uses pure C and winapi, no managed code, no MFC/ATL.
Acknowledge:
Thanks legedug for packaging the cab file.
Copyleft:
The source code is available, anyone can modify it and redistribute it. But you should contain at least a piece of my name in it and should distribute with full source code.
reserved for future.
Or no future.
thank you very much for this tool
Will try it! This will be super good as my P3600i constantly needs a hard reset due to all available roms are for P3600. I'll let you know how this go! Thanks
This will differentiate itself from other similar programs (TierAutoinstall) if it can popup when dialogs are displayed after installs on some cabs.
Tested. I really like it!
No bug so far and here are my findings and suggestions:
1. Yes we need silent installation
2. Pick a directory: this need to pick up sub-directories. My cabs saved in "Storage Card/PDA SW/Common". It won't pick up cab file in "Common" directory.
3. Some cab files require restart - If I choose restart now, it won't resume batch install. (I can choose not to restart now to by-pass it)

I would welcome if this would install silently...otherwise its great because its so simple - no hassle like with sashimi, which is great, but too much work for the first time!

Yes, I forget to add it. There is a big OK button to do that.
I fail to make upgrade recently because I don't have visual studio 2008 as in the lab before.
This one is written in pure C. So It can run without any additions.

It can not install things very silently. Because you have to select where to install.
My ambition plan is to parse the XML manually and let it really silent.
Now I don't have a Windows OS and Visual Studio. I will delay upgrade this software.
I have released the source, it is welcome for anyone to help.
Ok so i have tried it a couple of times..and after using the tool from v3patel(see my sig) im sorry.....
v3patel's is mortscript; quick and already allows for a silent install. However, my suggestion fro you to get the silent install working is to have a look at the command he uses in his script and see you can replicate it for your tool....
If it works, i will be more than to hard-reset my device to test...(and it better work lol)
helloworld1
excuse me;
can this be used to install all ones cab file apps etc, after a system hard reset if all cabs are say kept in a pacific folder for that purpose.
thanks

Make themes

Hello everyone...
I just looked for hours...
But can't find a program to make my own theme's for diamond.
I've tried using google, youtube and this forum... iam sure iam missing something,,,,
I understand i shall use Manila editor??? or???
But when iam opening it ... I can't se any pic's i can change...
I really hope someone can help me.. maybe its just in front off my eyes... But then iam totaly Blind.....
-Best regards Dennis
The easiest way is this, and do note themes do not work on any theme with a disattached Manila (for example, TLR ROMs seem to have problems with theming):
Preparations:
- Make a folder on your computers desktop called "Theme", and in it a folder called "My Theme" or the name of your personal theme.
- Connect your Diamond to your computer and copy ALL manila files (files ending in _manila) in the Windows subdirectory of your Diamond to the "Theme" folder on your desktop.
- Download Manila Editor and extract the files to a place where you can easily find it.
- In Manila Editor, press "Select Path" and select the "Theme" directory on your desktop. The program will "parse" the files and you'll see a loading bar in the bottom left.
Modifying:
- The files are now loaded. Browse through the files, and notice they're ordered by category. Also note the "Friendly name" is somewhat of a description as to what each image is. Finally, do note some files do NOT have a description and can be found in the "Unknown" category.
- Select the files you want to modify, and use Export -> Selected -> BMP/JPG/PNG (whichever you prefer). Choose a location to extract the files to.
- Use The Gimp, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro or your image editing program of choice to edit the files as desired. Use the old file as indicator for placement and size. Save the files under the same name for practicality, or give them a name that lets you easily figure out what each image is.
- When done, go back to Manila Editor and select the items you modified one by one. Each time, click the item, then click "Replace". Select your new image, and click OK. Repeat this as many times as necessary.
- If all files are correctly changed, click Zip -> Zip All. I've found that Zip All gives the least problems on most ROMs. This will create a .zip file, which you can name and save anywhere you wish.
Installing: (Sushilange has confirmed that later versions of Manila Editor will have a "Create Theme" function).
- Rename the .zip file to .theme and copy it to a subdirectory on your Diamond.
- Download, Install and Run Diamond TF3D Config 0.6.7 or higher. Go to the appearance tab and select the "Path..." button. Select the DIRECTORY in which your .theme file is and click OK. Then, from the dropdown list, select the name of your theme (the name of the zip-file).
- Select "Apply'. Take into account you need AT LEAST 20MB of free space on your device, as indicated by the program.
- Select start, wait until it finishes (don't worry if it says something about deleting files), click Finish and let the program restart your Diamond.
Thank you very much...
Perfect explination...'
Thank you . Glad it helps.
Instead of renaming the exported manila files from .zip to .theme, you can also use QuickCab to make a cab file of the exported manila files. Then you don't have to use the Diamond TF3D Config 0.6.7 program.
Advantage is that you can run the cab file and you can easily uninstall your theme. Uninstalling your own theme means that the original manila files wil be restored again. Furthermore it's much more easier and faster to install a theme.

Advantage is that you can run the cab file and you can easily uninstall your theme. Uninstalling your own theme means that the original manila files wil be restored again. Furthermore it's much more easier and faster to install a theme.

Wouldn't uninstalling the theme through Diamond TF3D Config also restore the original theme? That's what happens here, in any case.
but how do you copy manilla files from Diamond to PC ?
it doesnt show Windows directory in Vista on Windows Mobile Device Center ?
Hello There Greg...
Your Going To Wanna Go To MY COMPUTER> MOBILE DEVICE>MY WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICE> Tools>folder Options>view>show Hidden Files And Folders

Hope I Helped... Ill Be Looking At The Thread So.... You Can Ask For More Help If Need Be

- If all files are correctly changed, click Export -> Export All. I've found that Export All gives the least problems on most ROMs. This will create a .zip file, which you can name and save anywhere you wish.
- Rename the .zip file to .theme and copy it to a subdirectory on your Diamond.

You meant "Zip" not "Export"... Export is only the converting-function qtc->png

No, no! Don't do this! Wait until I added a "Create Theme"-function in Manila Editor. A *.theme-File is not just a Zip-File. You can't use a custom zip as a theme-file.

I'm just telling what works, but I can't wait until you get that functionality in - sounds good.
And yup, I meant Zip All, will edit now.

I know that it is possible, that it works But the problem is, if it is not working in some reasons, the noobs are crying and i can't give support ;-)
When I add the feature officially, I can give support
I'd daresay screw them. It's not supported by your application yet, so you have no obligation to make it work for them until making *.theme files is actually supported by the program.
Great program, by the way.
I don't know whether I am asking too much. I want to know if it's possible to turn the big digital clock on the 3D theme to transparent (instead of white opaque color). I wanted to change the background to a photo and the clock occupies half of the screen and always blocks the person's face in the photo.

Wow, NisseDilligaf you are an angel!! I searched the forum for about 2 hours and couldn't find it. This is EXACTLY what I want.
Thanks!!
If I do not want to create a new theme (because I do not know how ) , can I change the png?.
So I change 123213_manila for my icon 123231_manila , Can it works?.
Thank you

- Select start, wait until it finishes (don't worry if it says something about deleting files), click Finish and let the program restart your Diamond.

sUC - suiller UC way [9 Feb 2010]

ABOUT
The purpose of this CAB is to reach a sort of UC way but with a very easy & friendly approach
HISTORY
I come from Diamond world, so because this CAB can be adapted for other platform/devices why not preparing a separate sUC.cab to use for enabling ALL the stuff (ramdisk, pimbackup, ram recovery,etc...) included in Dia Duit rom series?
what have I to do with this cab?? simply it will apply these features:
Latest stable MortScript is inscluded & ready to go, so no more needs to install as separate cab
Choose between 3 speed profiles: 1. fast (takes more ram & battery), 2. balanced (not heavy tweaked but not funny) & 3. untouched (default WM6 settings)
GPS profile: TomTom, iGO, Navigator or default WM6
Everyday auto recover RAM feature (at 4.30AM) + automatic sms/contacts/calls backup/fav manila people (trough pre-configured pimbackup app, PimBackup included)
Ramdisk (2Mb) feature (optional)
A new way for a fully automated CAB/REG/EXE/CPY installation/copy after every hard-reset/rom upgrade
UPX executable, compress (fully automated) exe files from fresh installed cabs, this saves space & gives faster app load times
Easy & fast tweaking method without 3rd part software: tweak registry scripts (with comments)
Tips enabled by default to preserve a bit more battery life (for ex 3 secs of led blinking instead 5, increased battery life counter, etc) + increased speaker sound volume + many example for setting automatic alarms, rings, etc...
Moved MAIL + Attachments folders from main memory (My Device) to external one (Storage Card)
3 / 4 rows configuration
This should work on every WM based rom, also because I added the auto recognition of "Storage" name... so should work without troubles also on NON WWE roms (except for CABi installation)
DOWNLOAD sUC.cab HERE
DOWNLOAD sUC_source.zip HERE
BEFORE INSTALL (mandatory)
create in your "Storage" (the BIG one) a folder called "Backup and Restore", then inside it a folder CAB (inside this another folder called CABi), then at the same level of CAB folder create a folder called CPY, then REG, then EXE
so practically your basic structure should be like:
Code:
Storage Card (or whatever name)
=> Backup and Restore (folder)
=> CAB (folder, put here all the cabs you want install on main memory)
=> CABi (folder inside CAB folder, specific for "must go into Storage", see notes)
=> REG (if present all reg files here will be joined to default WM registry)
=> CPY (if present all files here will be copied under their correspondent folders)
=> EXE (if present all .exe & .mscr files will be launched)
all files in the CAB folder will be installed (automatically) into "device", the ones in the CABi folder will be installed into "Internal Storage" (or whatever you have, always automatically), from REG folder all *.reg/*.rgu files will be loaded on the fly, from CPY all files will be copied (with overwrite) into correspondent folders (for ex useful for copying personal dlls, wav/wma/mp3 files or background, etc...), for finish from EXE folder will be launched your executables (personally never needed, but who knows?) & if present all *.mscr scripts... pay attention to exe files that needs user interaction
INSIDE THE CAB (a deeper explanation)
when your sUC cab is installed it simply creates a registry entry under [HKLM\init\]"Launch69"="2ndboot.exe", this permits the script 2ndboot.mscr (launched by 2ndboot.exe) to be loaded upon system reboot (just one time)
this script, if the structure mentioned above isn't found, it will create automatically all the folder & default reg files needed under your storage card, the name isn't important because it should guess itself its correct name, so don't care if your storage is called something like "MyBigStorageCard"
then it will ask you some questions... such as if you use ActiveSync, which GPS performance adopt, etc... all this info, which at 1st you'll pay high attention, will be stored under your storage card in a file called config.txt ...why?? simple... because next time you will flash or hard-reset your phone you wont have to push a button the script will found that previous stored config file & it will take all the info needed for final rom configuration to skip all annoying questions after every upgrade/HR
note: there is also an hidden option that should be used only by experts, to enable this option simply add by hand to your config.txt file the line: FastInstall=1
this will skip all countdown menu & messages... personally I use this option because flashing a lot this saves much time more
next it will look in the CAB folder for installing your CABs into "device" or main memory
next in the CABi folder for installing CABs into your storage card (you need to do this just 1st time, I'll explain later...)
next it will look at a file called upxlist.txt (must filled before), where simply you will specify all the *.exe file you want to compress after every cab installation... for example your upxlist.txt could look like:
Code:
\Program Files\Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe
\Program Files\9.5 Beta\Opera9.exe
\Internal Storage\Program Files\Binaryfish\All Mobile Mines\All Mobile Mines.exe
note: every line for every EXE file, pay attention that you can compress just EXE files coming from extra CABs, because EXE files present in the rom are read-only
next it will copy a set of basic reg files with many tips/tricks/examples inside, useful for making many customizations
note: of course if you have previously prepared the folder structure & you have copied your REGs files under the REG folder they will be processed together the files above
next it will look in the CPY folder and will replicate the found folder structure (with files too), for example create inside it a folder \windows with some file inside & it will copy all found files under \windows on your device, or create \program files\myapp & it will create that folder structure in your device, of course it works also for Internal Storage even if it has no sense, anyway just a note it doesn't create empty folder, to create an empty folder just use a single .mscr script (something like: MkDir("\mydir") ) & copy it in your EXE folder
next it will look in the EXE folder & will launch all the exe files inside it, if found it will launch also all *.mscr scripts
next if found (you'll understand better upon an HR), it will ask you to restore your backed-up start menu, so you don't have to re-arrange your icons again
next if found, it will ask you to restore your last PIM backup & will reboot
notes:
right now CABi procedure works only on WWE roms (due to translations work to be finished), anyway there is a trick to skip CABi installation, or better make by hand just once (read few lines below)
installing cabs into Storage Card sometimes will fail, this simply because some cabs need confirmation/accept license & so on, so don't expect will work 100%, also many cabs require to be installed into main memory so NOT into Storage Card, for ex I use to install into Storage Card simple cabs such as games
sometimes pim backup restore can fail, try to restore by hand after installation; backup are divided into week days (monday, sunday, etc... "Last" is the last saved backup)
if you put sUC.cab in your CAB folder wont re-processed of course, useful if using sUC together with UC/UC2 installation method (see at bottom)
if you still use the 1st sUC release way your personal scripts still work like before, simply move them under EXE folder, or transport as reg entries directly into your personal reg file & copy it under REG folder, you can find on the same folder some examples (to clean all your old stuff simply empty the REG folder, modded REG files wont be touched on future upgrades)
you don't need to re-install every time your CABi, just install them once, then on next upgrade answer No or simply edit your config.txt & change the correspondent value; after CABi installation on a clean boot go with your explorer under "\windows\start menu" folder & re-organize your start menu structure (cut/past links, create/delete folders, etc...), remember to don't delete "Settings" folder even if empty, then go under sUC menu & backup your StartMenu, on next upgrade sUC will detect start menu backup & it will reinstall automatically... because the content of your storage card isn't erased after a rom upgrade/hard-reset your installed CABs will stay there untouched, so backed-up start menu has inside correct links
is possible to move TomTom, iGO, Navigon, etc... definitively into your storage card, so you don't need to install them every time: copy entire nav software folders from \program files to \internal storage\program folders, re-create icon shortcuts (copy/past as shortcut in your start menu), for iGO you have to edit sys.txt (under iGO folder) & change the path of base installation
in the same way is possible to skip for example FingerKeyboard installation from related cab, simply take a look at this short guide
INSTALLATION
note: to migrate in every new sUC version simply move your reg mods in your Personal.reg file, erase all the rest of reg files because they will be re-generated with the new ones, remember that on upgrades reg files wont be touched so pay attention on what you mod
if the rom is UC compliant simply create a called SDConfig.txt file in the root folder of your Storage Card, for example your SDConfig.txt could look like (pay attention to upper-lower case & no empty lines):
Code:
LOCK:Enabled
CAB :\Internal Storage\Backup and Restore\CAB\sUC.cab
LOCK:Disabled
RST: Reset
in this way at reboot will start standard sUC procedure (remember MortScript is included & also that sUC cab wont be re-processed even if present in CAB folder), instead if the rom isn't UC compliant simply install sUC as any normal cab, then it will ask to restart (or restart manually) & automated procedure will begin on reboot[/b]

OK, that's all very nice, but WTF is it?
Wouldn't hurt to have an "about" section in the post for ppl who see this thing the first time in their life.

OMG~ You finally made it available!!! I'm going to test it with my HD and will report back once everything is organised
I didn't mean to sound rude, sorry... Anyway, thanks for the addition, but still - what is UC? User Configuration? Could You post some screenshots too to make it more comprehensible for dumbusers like me?

oh FRIEND! I found you
yep, I'm looking here around to see if my mad projects can be useful
the cab isn't still perfect but should work, of course I haven't a different device from diamond so all you will be a sort of beta tester
I've removed all specific diamond stuff, so it should work
Of course this is just a starting point, I'm dedicating much time to develop this small piece of "software", thx also to many other friends
You know as it works, so you should feel a bit like at home

yep you are right... UserConfiguration, the only difference is that you don't need to write any config file, at least not as "normal" user, it's enough to copy under correct folders the CAB plus other stuff you want installed/loaded after every flash/hard-reset
I'll porvide soon a video-guide, so it will be for sure more clear
OK, OK, nuff with making fun of me Or were You seriuous with video guide?
Cos I just had a brilliant idea - I'll install the damn thing and look for myself
I think I should have done that in the first place. But still, I believe screenshots would save some time understanding what's it really about.
Yeah Screwed Up Click for life
no no I'm serious friend... but I'll suggest to wait a couple of days because I'm working on a new version where is possible to cut-off all the specific HTC/manila stuff & above all I'm re-commenting all the registry entries that interact with OS

Hi,
really don't want to be rude or offence, but ... isn't this something like SASHIMI????
If so ... where are sUC's pros?
kind regards
fwt
almost... but it's very very simple... I'm testing an heavy modified version able to run on almost every WM6.x base device
OK the CAB is ready for testing purposes... please re-read 1st post because I'm making a better, I hope easier, description of features... thx
bye,
davide
Mate, this piece of software is plain GENIUS!
So much easier than the UC thing, with all the boring scripting. This way you just place in folders, and you are (mostly) done! Amazing stuff!
I have some questions/requests for you though...
Is there a way to repeat the procedure (restore at 1/2 start up), at a later time? This could be useful, for example, if some files get corrupted, or you just want to revert back to default cabs/settings, etc. So I guess what is needed is a way to manually activate the procedure.
Second thing is regarding mail settings. Is there a way to back this up? My hotmail settings get destroyed after every HR.
Cheers.
Forgot to mention, a manual activation of this procedure would also help if (for example) you want to make multiple program installations. This way you could just use the folder CAB, without wasting time on every single program you are installing/testing...
Cheers

hmm... it could be a good idea... even if some phases can't be reverted, or better it's very complicated to "go back"... such as for ramdisk
anyway many phases are yet accessible as indipendant scripts just take a look under "\Backup and Restore\scripts" folder, of course other script could be extrapolated but I'll do probably on next version... let's say this is a testing purpose version because I have to "think" that this app must work on many (almost all I hope) wm6.x based devices
As one of the end (l)users who first saw this in Suiller's Dia Duit rom series, I can attest to this resolving one of the major grievances of Windows Mobile rom-upgrades. With some "smart" planning ahead, getting everything back can now be mostly scripted by simply placing the install file in the correct directory. Same with restoring data from your pimbackup, or adding registry settings. Once again we have a case where the xda-developers have surpassed the "offficial" roms in user friendliness.
I have since moved on to WM6.5 (still on my Diamond), but I sorely miss sUC from my later roms.
//Svein
updated sUC, corrected some small issues
I corrected some default/samples reg files, so I suggest to erase all default *.reg files under REG folder to update correctly
move your personalization to something like "MyRegPers.reg"
please reports here bugs/issues/suggestions or whatever... thx
