Hi,
Im having a little trouble with my phone, i tried to update with seus and it said update failed for some reason, then my phone flat out refused to turn on, i got it to vibrate when i pressed the power key but thats it. I had a look araound and tried the flash tool in jerpelea's? rom thread and now i have it booting to a little picture of a phone with an exclamation mark. what do i do at this point to get it to fully boot, i have the 16 firmware file for flash tool but im not sure how to use it.
cheers
chris
have you tried using SEUS to repair it?
phone is not briked if you have exclamation mark.... just put it into bootloader(close the phone, remove the battery for 5s,put it back in, hold back button(while holding) plug the usb connected to your computer and you shoud see a the green light(if you dont see the green light you need to charge the phone.... needs about 50% power charge....(this happed to me twice where the phone refused to ener bootloader state because battery was below 50%...))) and flash it with one of the flash methods....
yeah, just looking at the flash tool now i seems to be getting an error,
java.io.IOException: unable to open channel
what could this mean?
if i remember correctly it mean you got the wrong device id....
mmm, thats wierd, i got it from the registry like i was told, is there another method?

im just trying that now, its downloading the software really slowly
check the registry there maybe more than 1 some people had 2 or 3 you have to try to see witch one is the good one...
that, or you have 64bit java, you need 32bit java preferably on a 32 bit windows system
seems to be fine now, thanks lads.
Sometimes simple is best!

Bricked X10i
I had my X10i for 1 day... fully charged and reading 100%. I installed the SEUS and the other SE software then plugged the X10i into the PC to see what upgrades were available. Wow! an upgrade was available, and having read the stuff on this site as well as others I did fresh installs of 32 and 64bit Java so that I wouldn't encounter problems. I started the upgrade with SEUS and it failed with about 5mm left on the progress bar. I thought this isn't a problem as I can always try again or use the other software. WRONG! Don't believe anyone that says that you can't brick the X10i, that is complete crap!
I sent my phone off to an SE phone repair company that does the job for most of the carriers in this country. After 3 hours on the bench attempting to un-brick the X10i the result was not a good one! The phone has to go to SE in Poland for 2 weeks to be repaired. Apparently there are situations where the memory can have defects and these are not shown up in the initial build. Only when the phone is upgraded can they show their true colours. Well my phone will be back in 2 weeks, working like new and me... well after this SE phone I won't buy another SE product again. Very very disappointed indeed. How I wish I had bought the Nexus One instead, well we live and learn! Incidently, before anyone says this could happen to any phone... I have 12 phones in a box behind me, including HTC and Apple which have had no problems, even after some pretty heavy abuse. The fact that the phone wasn't a day old and I was following SE's rules for the upgrades then all went bad leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

Yeah, it sounds like you had some bad luck. I fail to see how that could reflect badly on SE though, it's not like they ship thousands of the phones with a known defect. You had some bad luck and I'm glad it got sorted, thank Kobold for warranties.

Hello everybody,
i just bought an omnia 7 for my birthday (excualy, my wife did)
i charged it all night, and the first day it was a beaty ,
i first hesatated for the update, bu eventually i updated,

now when i do "havy stuff" like movie, game or even facebook
IT FREEZES :'( ,
and to make itr worse, i have the faulty bootloader, so no firmware upgrade
i'm thinking about goiing to a repair center and let them fix it.
i really wanna use this phone (1st smartphone ever)
what do you think trhe problem is? software or hardware?
*edit: sory for my bad english

You got to be careful, because some fixes under warranty automaticly update the phone to the latest version of OS and if you get the latest verison of OS you won't be able to unlock it the easiest way; with chevron
well,
yesterday i got my omnia 7 back, and it works like a charm.
they replaced the main board
woohooo
great phone
You're gonna hate me but... You import a phone sim free, you have no warranty or technical service in your country... Why would you risk flashing it?! I would never do that! Anyway it's your money, I hope you get it fixed and learn a lesson.

i don't know where you have read that i imported it, or that i don't have warranty...
yes i have bought it in a nabouring country: netherland
BUT! thats where the fun part is i live in belgium and samsung has a benelux warranty: meaning if i buy a phone in holland or luxebourg, i have warranty in belgium, neat isn't it or viceversa i did my reseach
so yes i "imported" it (payed half what it costs in belgium) but i DO have warranty, and now they fitted a new mainboard and the phone rocks!!!!
why flash it? latest firmware: better preformance, in my opinion and now wait for mangoooooo
Hey! I have no idea how this happened, it's probably the xda app acting crazy. My post wasn't meant for you but for sasukee in the other thread. How weird! Will copy and paste.

aaah ok then
My "old" X10 presented some weird issues with 720p recording and GPS navigation, both rebooting the phone after a few minutes plus the device getting very hot.
At first I thought it was because of some custom ROMs and custom kernels with OC, but I reached the conclusion it was a hardware issue since I flashed back the stock ROM and the issues continued.
Anyways.... today they called me and gave me a brand new arc!!!
I'm kind excited but in the mean time I bought an Atrix and I think I'll sell the arc but not without play with it for a while
That's fairly lucky. I used to work in SE contact centre(in the days of the K750) in the UK and we had to push like crazy to get customers new handsets let alone an upgrade!
Yeah, it wasn't easy at all. I had to submit it 3x and wait more than 30 days each. Was happy if they gave me a new X10. I was almost giving up and suing them according to the BR laws then today I received the unexpected call

Hint: If your phone got sent to SE factory like mine did, call there and ask for a new one. Insist and be patient, that's the key

Sent with stock original firmware, always. I don't think root is an issue, but custom roms are.
Actually once I forgot to switch back from a custom ROM and the guys on Technical Assistance were really nice and informally refused without registering anything about it. I went home, reflashed original firmware and sent it back like it never happened
More than one person told me that SE had a lot of problematic X10s and if you insist on replace the device, they will probably will give you something new too.
ill buy the arc.

Root or modified firmware will void the warranty and they can see if it's been done really easy in EMMA now.
EMMA will show that modified software has been detected and tell the operator to deal with it as OUT-OF-WARRANTY.
So if you're still under warranty flash it back to stock before you send it in.
So, I just need to destroy my X10 so I can send it back
lucky man
Thats pretty sweet, ive had to return phones to SE before (or an "authorised repairer" in my country, which is 600km's away, at my cost(?!?!)) and all i ever get is the same phone back with the particular part replaced. (which in one case failed again just AFTER the original warranty and repair warranty ran out)
Must be an X10 problem they cant just "fix" for you.
I would drop the atrix and keep the arc, the screen on the atrix is just a bit dodge for my liking, otherwise a great phone with some great standout features, but i'll bet the bravia powered display on that arc is brilliant!
All of you are unlucky lol, maybe it's an error on motherboard. My phone run very smooth, watch 720p, HD game but no rebooting lol
Hey guys, here's my problem:
I was flashing from Eclair 2.1 to Froyo 2.2 via Odin. All went good, i got the PASS, but the phone didnt restart.
Then I, stupidly, disconnected the USB cable and then took off the battery.
Now when i connect it to USB it gives me a white-gray screen and doesn't turn on.
I don't even get the SAMSUNG I5800L screen. Can't get to download mode via 3 button combo and via USB+ take off battery+3 button combo+ put on battery.
Should I use JIG, or is it a Total Brick?
Thanks :s
Probably hardbrick. Do you have warranty?
Uh, no. The phone has like 3 years of lifetime, it was my father's, and now it is mine. I tried to flash it to froyo and boom T_T.
Should I try the JIG or it wouldn't do anything? :s
Finally, if I have just a paperweight, maybe I'll try with the hairdryer, but I don't think it'll work.
Ah thats a pity. You could take it to a samsung service and tell them that after kies update the phone didn't turned on. I dont know the cost.
Hmmmm, i5800L, that would be the cause of the brick. What rom did you use??
Also samsung service center folks are pretty idiots. When my friends G3 got bricked, they asked him change the motherboard(if i am not wrong). That costed about rs. 3500 (which is high). Later when i joined xda, i found out that was a lam e bootloop which could have been fixed easily.
Moral of the story - Samsung service center people aren't that helpful.
Uuhh... I used the I5800 ROM, there was no I5800L, so I thought it would work...
And, I WISH I HAD A BOOTLOOP! >.< I think I screwed up the bootloader, cuz the only thing I get is that white screen, sometimes with lines on it when i plug it on USB...
WELL... then no JIG, no hairdryer, LET'S WASTE MONEY!
Atleast you are getting something!! i dont think its a hard brick.Does it get recognised by ODIN?may be the usb jig method will work
Nope, not recognized by odin, just that f***ing white screen...
zzzzz....
Any update man..?

Same thing happened about my friend's HTC Desire... Except he didn't have root. His phone would turn on only at low CPU temps... I'm sure it's a normal softbrick because exact same thing happened to my phone and I could fix it because I had odin
Oh, and Im almost completely sure my relative had working odin-like flashing programme he recieved from HTC...
To start I am new to the Samsung Focus and the Windows Phone 7 modding scene. The only background I have is with Android and the Samsung Fascinate.
I have been battling with this focus for a few days.
When I first got it it would not start up at all, only bootloop at the Samsung logo.
I then figured out that the phone would boot up if I removed the SD card. I know for a fact that was the SD card that came with and has been in the phone until now.
The phone when connected to pc or the wall would seem to not charge batteries. I have 3 working 1500 mAh batteries between my fascinate and this focus and the focus would not charge any of them.
Then I flashed MAGLDR, or at least tried to. It failed the first time during installation, and worked the second time.
I then attempted to flash cleanrom 3.10a. The installation program said it had completed sucessfully, but alas I only got a bootloop.
Then I flashed 1.3 stock rom sucessfully, but still a bootloop.
I just tried to flash the 1.4 stock rom to maybe kick it out of bootloop, and during the PDA flashing the phone got stuck at 13%. Unlucky number, eh?
After 15 or so minutes I decided to unplug the phone and pull the battery.
Uh-oh.
Now, with 2 different batteries, which I know are charged, the phone will not boot into the logo, download mode, or format mode. Pressing the power button does nothing. The screen remains black, and plugging the phone in after holding the download mode buttons does nothing, my pc does not recognize any usb device being plugged in.
Now I am completely stuck. Is it a paperweight or can I still save it?

Are you saying you have a Version 1.3 Focus and you flashed the Version 1.4 stock ROM? If you did, then yes, you now have a bricked Focus, and I don't believe anyone has found a way to repair that. NEVER flash ver 1.4 ROM to a ver 1.3 phone, or vice versa. Sorry about your troubles...

Yes I guess I did. There was no place that I could find that ever stated the difference between 1.3 and 1.4. I saw something online about being able to recover it with a JTAG service (sending it out to someone with a RIFF box and have them jtag it back to download mode) would that even be possible?

For starters, please don't take my previous message as scolding you for flashing the wrong ROM. Believe me, it happens to all of us at some point. I did it to an HD2 and bricked it.
I don't remember anyone recovering it with JTAG, but if there is a way, I'm sure that's it. I would suggest you follow up in the thread where you read that and see if anyone there can confirm they have done it successfully. Good luck, and again, I'm sorry about your phone.

I only found one website that seemed legitimate (he had youtube videos with 40,000 ish views) and honest. He explained that the JTAG method could fix dead-boot phones like mine, and if not then the price is refunded. It's only $40 for the service, but I'm a poor high school student. Once I get the money I will definitely follow up in this thread. :good:

Be cautious of those sites, and get references. There are many sites that "Say" they will do something and if it does not work, they will refund your money. But when you don't hear back, you've lost your money, and possibly phone. It's really hard to get a refund at that point.
There are MANY iPhone Unlock Sites that do nothing more than take your money, never to be heard from again. They look legitimate, but it's really hard to tell from a web site that can be built in an hour or so.

Duly noted. I will definitely do my research. Also I will probably go to a site that uses paypal so I can take advantage of their buyer protection policies.
I would consider getting a phone off of ebay with a cracked screen and strip out the main board, put it in your phone.
Make sure you flash with the correct firmware.

Ive had the above for about a month never have i been satisfied with the volume (being hard of hearing doesnt help)to the point where id all ready booked a repair date for next week
The phones unlocked and rooted (bit obvious else i wouldn't be on this forum would i )and in truth ive been playin with a lot of patches and apps out there to improve the volume
Now yesterday after tryin beats xlouder and a couple of sound boost apps. i followed a link to bryce09 kernel which i flashed only to find it killed the phone and i mean KILLED
Ive tried the Nexus repair toolkit/Wgfresh on a VM running W7 and nothing!!
Now im on an iMac and ive run Galaxy Nexus GSM unroot/stock and it goes through all the processes and at the end says press start
But theres nothing on the screen at all all tho and the power button does nothing
Now if i strip down the phone and disconnect the battery am i right in thinking it will reset it
or as ive all ready got a repair booked is it worth it
Oh hell no. You will void your warranty. Just send it back and get it fixed.

So after speaking with LG about my repair they advised me to get in touch with Google (my god i was looking foreward to that)any way all went well didn't seem to get through to the ignorant irish
Finished up with my RMA and nearly £300 lighter in my pocket which i hoping wont ultimately go through
Gets the replacement Nexus ....now the TNT guy that delivered it i knew as i worked form them for many years he told me that he picks up loads of theses LGs for replacement they ship out to Poland of Korea ....must be by the lorry load
Just wish id knew this before i got rid of my old Sammsung Galaxy Nexus
So any ways its on eBay lol not even going to undo it
with out a doubt worst phone ive had
Please tell me you did not tell them what you did to the phone, because that would have been silly, and partially my fault because I forgot to warn you. If your phone was indeed dead, it would have been difficult for them to tell.

Silly repair booking person, to assume you've given the a different contact number, considering your phone may be broken, they'd never assume you'd give them that number
vivid experiance
I purchased Nexus 4, on the 4th day it's failed to boot i don't root or damage anything
only stuck in boot process and nothing i searched xda
i got how to flash the firm from xda developers i did what they tell
but i flashed successfully
i turn on mobile the same boot failure again came it's not woking
what i do ? tell me i sent to mobile dealer they replace me and give me a new box
