Hi,
I have a corrupt received text message that I cannot delete in the conventional way (i have tried deleting the message, the thread, the contact etc) but it just stays there. it has no sent or received date associated with it so it just sits as my first text message and right winds me up. any suggestions?
Many Thanks
Murg
Is it from 129 or a similar short number?
No it's just a normal message from my gf that's just gotten corrupted somehow (possibly to do with myphone) where are text messages stored, can I force it to be deleted somehow?
They *might* be in
'\Windows\Messaging'
or
\cemail.vol
It might also be emails instead.

I received a text message last night and I needed to keep it. I certainly haven't deleted it yet this morning it is gone. Does anyone have any ideas why it was deleted? It is not in the deleted box either, so if I did delete it (which I didn't) then I would have to have deleted it from that box also.
Could a soft reset without closing messages mean you could lose data? (ie lose the text message)
Has anyone else had this happen to them?
Please pardon this posting (if this is an already known issue - it's 3.00AM and I've been combing the Herald threads for known issues but didn't see this on there)...
I got a new Wing today and after placing the SIM card in it, the phone works like one would expect until you try to send a text message. That never gets sent . What's more aggravating is the behavior on incoming text messages. The keys light up when I get a new text message and the counter on the home screen adds to the number of unread messages however, when I click on the link to attempt to view the messages, the inbox is blank. 0 messages in it. I have checked all the folders to no avail. Even a hard reset on the device doesn't seem to fix the issue. Am I missing something here? If so what??
FYI I called T-Mo support and their Tier 3 guy was stumped.
Here's the wierd thing while I was going through testing to validate that this was an actual issue, I did get the "incoming text message" bubble notification and from there, I clicked on Menu (from the home page) and was able to view the text messages - so they're somewhere in my phone, just not in the inbox - anyone have any idea where I can look?
*bump*
I'm having this problem now. Ever find the fix?
Hi,
my first problem with my x10 has encountered (after 3 months). I recently got a message, but it did not show in my inbox, only as a new alert. I cannot access this message, not even if I click on the new alert. It will only direct me to an empty message.
This is actually not a problem, but the thing is that I cannot delete this alert. It will come back even after I clear all messages, kill the messaging application, and even after a reboot.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Edit: When I clear the alert, it will not return after I enter another text message.
Edit2: Solved, removal of all messages (settings -> delete all threads) worked.
The exact same thing happened to my friend's X10...haha i wonder why this happens?
I've had a problem sending SMS messages to one (and only one) of my contacts. Unfortunately it is the contact I text the most, so it's a real pain.
When I first set up the phone, it synced all the contacts from gmail and facebook.
Unfortunately this particular contact had their number on Facebook as ++44 (0) 7123 123456, which my phone stored as +4407123 123456 (which is incorrect as when you have the international "+44" you need to get rid of the 0).
I changed it manually on the phone to +447123123456, and my friend changed it on Facebook.
Now I can compose new texts to this person and they send ok, but whenever I reply in the conversation thread my message fails to send.
When I check the message details on the failed message it says "To: +4407123123456", with the rogue zero back in place, even though I can't find that zero anywhere in the contact entry.
I've tried deleting the whole conversation thread, but that hasn't helped. This problem happens in the stock SMS app and also in Handcent.
Any ideas how I can fix this? The incorrect number must be stored somewhere, but I can't find it
I have had my HTC Desire Z for a couple of weeks now and I am receiving the following message when typing a text message "The application Messages (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I have the standard ROM and have only done one OTA update and since then I think the problem has been happening. I did the update fairly soon after receiving the phone so I cannot be 100% certain this is the problem but I believe it could be
Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this and how I can fix the problem. I have imported my SMS messages from my old Nokia 5800 by bluetooth using the standard phone Setup wizard
When the message appears I get kicked out of the message I was typing and it is saved as a draft. The problem occurs if I use the on screen keypad or use the keyboard
The phone is not rooted or modified at all. I have a few applications I have downloaded but all of these came from the Market
Any help much appreciated
G2 user here and i have the same thing happening with one specific messaging thread. Every time the person would send me a text after the picture, i couldnt reply or view the messages until AFTER the message had scrolled past the top of my screen. If i scroll up to the picture, the messaging app crashes, so my only option is to delete the messaging thread (which i would rather not do).
It is probably a corrupt picture.
I am also open to suggestions on how to either delete that specific message without removing the entire thread.
i have had the same problem on my g2 after bit i discovered only happened to me consistently when i started writing an mms message (with photo) with keyboard closed and then opened the keyboard to type my text message once photo in message already - i get this crash when i send nearly everytime after the steps above (end up in draft without text i typed). not had this happen in ~1mo now as long as open keyboard first before starting the mms message. your mileage may vary !
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
This problem happens to my phone when typing and trying to send a standard SMS message. I have sent a MMS message but only one to get the settings and functionality enabled.
It is possible that I could have a corrupt picture message as I imported my messages from my old phone but didnt import any attachements or images so it could be the message is linked to a MMS picture which is no longer on my phone.
Is there either a way to disable all previous messages coming up when typing a new message or replying to a message or can I somehow get into the message database to remove corrupt messages
