I am looking for any tutorials on creating a audio player app.
Basicaly i want to create an app that lists a selection of song to play with controls to play stop etc.
I would guess what most do is play these from a server to save on app size? or do they put the audio in with the app?
Anyway i have been hunting but not finding quite what i need.
I found one that plays from sd card but i want it to play only files i say.
Thinking about if it was streamed then that would use there data and if not connection they could not use so maybe streaming is not the way to go.
Anyway anyone any suggestions?
What's the best way to do this?
I was reading into uPNP. I got a uPNP plugin for foobar2000, and got it working for streaming stuff to my phone over the local WiFi network.
I tried to use PlugPlayer on Android to do this over the internet, couldn't get it to work though.
Does Winamp for Android do this? It says you can wirelessly sync with your PC, but that sounds like it downloads all your music to the phone, I just want to use my phone to browse a list of music on my PC at home, and stream whichever one I pick to the phone.
I'd like to be able to choose the bitrate I stream at also, the foobar2000 uPNP plugin has very good options here, I just need to find an Android app to play it
Hi, have u looked at audiogalaxy, im using that, sounds exactly what u need.

Hi guys, my Vega will be arriving this week, since it will be always on the same network as my PC, is there a way to play music or playlists stored on the PC to the Vega (will be running Honeycomb)
I would prefer the playlists to be on the tablet so the wife can set some up rather than her going to my PC to do anything.
cheers
You can try Google Music Beta. It Uploads music to the Google servers, and you can play it anywhere, anytime

I'm in the UK, there's no Google Music here
I'm in the Netherlands Ever heard of proxy servers?
cheers, but can it stream music from my PC?
The easiest method is to use CIFS Manager to create a link to your PC share and just open the files up using any Audio player. PowerAmp is the leader for playing music but personally I found it to be a pain to setup. Give it a go with setting up the share and if you come across any problems post them here and I'll see if I can help out.
Good luck!
I agree with using CIFSmanager, it works very well for streaming video and audio to your Vega. However, when i tried it couldn't get Poweramp, winamp or the default player to browse to the share (even if it was mounted in /sdcard) so in the end I used MortPlayer Music. It's not the most pretty interface but it works well until one of the other players adds support for browsing CIFS.
cheers guys, much appreciated
I know that being a thread necromancer isn't cool or anything but maybe someone really wants to stream audio/video etc from PC like a boss.
Take a look at orb.com
I'm trying to find an app to listen streaming music.
have a couple of app's but none of them work.
for example
URL:http://u12b.di.fm:80/di_vocaltrance (which should be working with WinAmp)
but it's not working
or this one
http://u12b.di.fm:80/di_vocaltrance
should be working with win media player.
SO what APP do you use to listen streaming music/radio??
Thanx.
Audiogalaxy is def my favorite if my computer is on at home. Instant access to over 400gb of music to stream over 3g or wifi flawlessly.
and google music if it is not - I have 15000 songs uploaded so far.
Tune in radio app for radio and streaming sites like gdradio.net
Also the Livephish app - so good. If I have to explain you wouldn't understand ;O)
Vibe vault to stream 1000's of live shows from the Live Music Archive at archive.org
Those are my main go to streaming apps.
Jazz Radio for me

Thanx Man !!!
we use Pandora and i heart radio apps.not to mention our extensive music collection we have bought over many years .Its all on google music. google music will sync everything you have on your desktop or laptop to the google cloud and you Can stream to your phone or tablet .. This is your own music and play list without taking up space on the phone. But you can select some of it or all of it to sync to your phone for off line.. Or tablet.
I just get a new huawei phone with a built in digital FM Tuner I seem to be using that alot.
There are alot of music stream apps we have tried and always go back to Pandora .Its great because its on the computers our tvs and the Car radio and Cell phone/my Tablet of course.
Thank you all.
Finally i've found app that will play my stations:
XiiaLive Lite - Online Radio
Works pretty good.
So I will be recieving this beauty Next week and I was looking around but cant seem to find the answer.
I wish to stream my WMP or Itunes playlists on my tablet when I am home.
I did buy a Portable HD, but not really usefull to always copy my computer playlists over it and such.
Really looking for a streaming option.
I don't know how enamored/entrenched with iTunes you are, but once i entered the android world, I moved my music over to google music. It can be streamed or downloaded to your devices via Google's music app.

Google music will automatically import all your iTunes / wmv music and auto sync from that point forward.
Google music > iTunes

Yes, though you'll need to sign up with a US proxy (just for the signup, after that you don't need to worry about it).
Also, download Skifta or some other DNLA app and you can stream shared music and movies from your network (WinXP/Vista/7/8 machines, XBox360, PS3, and more support DNLA).
EDIT: See you have an S2X...Samsung calls their DNLA client for their phones and tablets AllShare, if you've used that, Skifta does pretty much the same thing.
Yeah i got skifta using it for vids. But I found that for music it wasnt great. Just managed to sync my principl plulist on google music!looks good

You don't need US proxy for sign up, its available in the UK now. Just upload all your music to the cloud, install Google music app, play.

He's in Canada, like me. It's not active here yet, so we still need to use a proxy for the sign up.

My only concern with Google Music is there is no offline player. If your net connection goes you loose the ability to play your music.
OK you could just navigate to the folders and play them as they are, or use something like iTunes but it kinda defeats the point

Think you missed the point. I was specifically talking about desktop support where the local hard copies of your music are stored
I don't see why it is a problem that you can play your music with any application that you would like to.
I'm confused why your desktop is even in the discussion. Google Music will let you stream music to your tablet or phone without any interaction with your desktop. You can continue to use your desktop as you do now.
If you want something that streams directly from your desktop then look into Subsonic.
