nice, soon enough
Do we know what ROM that is on?
I was skeptical at first... I never figured we could handle something like flash. This is a pretty big step if we can.

Stock Eris ROMs have flash, it's called HTC Flash. We just have the requirements that Adobe put out for 10.1
I have to wonder how many others are refreshing this page, wondering when a dev will say if this is useful lol.

My old Verizon HTC Touch played Hulu videos on Skyfire perfectly before Hulu blocked us from using it. Also, for some reason, it handled other flash sites better than my wife's Droid with 2.2 and 10.1.

HTC Flash is "Flash Lite" it's hardly full 10.1 flash.
video doesnt seem real, theres cuts in the video before and after he touches the screen
Im pretty sure it's real.. I think those "cuts" are just flash being somewhat laggy on his phone...
There is already a flash 10.1 for the eris flying around I have a copy on my computer i believe I'll post it when i get home.
EDIT:Here it is guys, but it only works on the stock browser, im guessing thats why it didn't catch much attention.

stock flash is still just flash lite with a diferent name i believe, this is a flash player that doesn't default to full screen, and has full functionality as if it were on your desktop(games, buttons, links, and such), only mini lolz

I think its full flash, I can play flash games on site and stuff without problems, only thing is that its a little slow and can only be used on stock browser on htc roms because it uses something that flash lite uses on the htc browser.

New ROMS based on what??? We have HTC Sense ROMs for Eclair 2.1 and Froyo 2.2 and AOSP CM 6.1. What else are you looking?
Personally I hate visiting the other device forums because everybody and their brother has 'cooked' up another ROM (mostly just new themes or added favorite apps). IMO who has time to stiff through all the various ROMs and threads? I find it much easier to review 3 different ROM threads and try to help others than to try and go through 10 or 15 threads and seeing messages such as 'well this worked on this ROM but it doesn't on that ROM, why not?'
OK, I'll get off my soap box now...
I agree. Plenty of good variety in the ROMs we have.

There's nothing wrong with that actually. Sometimes it's a good thing because there are more people developing towards something greater. We have 1 or 2 guys doing all this work. There are some pretty badass ROMs for the more popular phones out there. If we had more people developing and cooking, we'd no doubt have something better than what we have even now.
Screw those giant phones.
But a little more ROMS would be cool, we just need more people with the Aria.
It's not a bad phone...hah.
What would you like to see in a new ROM?

Not too sure, as I have only had the Aria and used the two ROMS.
it's not a bad thing that we may only have 3 roms, but they are actually good quality roms, not just thrown together, and they are constantly being updated, but it would be kool if they had more help with them. Although i wish they had some people creating or porting themes, if i knew how i would, if anybody wanna help me learn, i wouldn't mind contributing by making themes for the aria, cause i kno i'm not the only one wishing they could have a theme to try out

I recently rooted and installed CM6.1.0RC2, and only thing I'd say it's missing is Flash Lite compared to Sense. Wish there was a way to get Flash Lite on CM, sadly not possible. Still loving CM though. Might test Sense again when there's an official Froyo update from AT&T and attn1 has taken out all the bloatware.

That's right folks- get your supercharged Froyo sense goodness now with the newer kernel source released by HTC for the HTC legend. Everything works as far as I know, except for the built in wifi hotspot app for which we have replaced with the working Wireless Tether app thanks to the work of shakerhero. Final thanks go to attn1 and jznomoney for their hard work on the CM kernel, ladios for bundling up the kernel, trackpad wake fix, and wireless tether in a single, proper package.

This is a just leaked rom for the galaxy s. hopefully the devs can use it for the vibrant.
well even if not at least we know now that Samsung wasn't lying about March for the euro/Asian markets.
Nice, hopefully we will be able to use this to our advantage?
Also, couldn't we flash this since we now have the kernel that allow us to flash i900 ROMS? If we could just flash those files, then flash the kernel through Odin somehow it might work. Idk though, I'm no dev.

GINGERBREAD leaked
damb, this is so great, im thinking maybe tonight we might have a port for the vibrant, and i wonder if eugene and krylon know about this considering, it just today got leaked, a few hours ago.............. anyways, everyone post on this, lets get the hype going, we want this baby ported ASAP.. always thanks so much eugene and krylon, my brothers of galaxy android
So far from what i've read over there...
Looks like quadrant scores are not improved over 2.2 which is what i'm sure most people are hoping for. It also appears that the screen off animation is not present in the rom. It's also using Touchwiz 3.0 and not 4. Market is broken, and gingerbread keyboard also not included. Looks like an early beta build from what i've read.
**edit**
market is working, they have root access, and they are in the process of deodexing.
So far from what i've read over there...
damn double post. please delete
Sweet, hope we can get some cooked roms soon

The kernel that allows us to flash i9000 ROMs is only 2.2 and 2.2.1 compatible. I'm pretty sure someone would have to build a new kernel to let us flash that or port the ROM over.
The crowds are getting restless over there. They're in an uproar about "this is missing" and "that is missing". One of the complaints is about the gingerbread wallpaper being missing. But these guys forget that our 2.1 devices didn't come with stock 2.1 walls. They instead came with whatever wallpapers samsung gave us. Overall it's starting to sound more complete than the first froyo leaks that we used to have which is reassuring. Some of the guys say that the leak is stable and everything is working on their devices. One of the nice improvements they're reporting is functioning hardware acceleration.
No TV-off?! NOooOoO!

Funny to see their behavior over it when we are just sinking our teeth into 2.2.1. Maybe its a good thing though.. I myself am so pleased with the performance boost of 2.2.1 that I'm in no rush to flash again but of course I'm in the minority on that.

definatly just spent like 15 minutes trying to figure out how to download the RUU from that chinese upload site... no dice... any direct link to DL you can PM me im interested i wanna see if i can get this running
still, we arent going to have data.
until we get cm ril - and maybe not even then - "ports" to the tbolt are going to be totally worthless.
thats why i havent been too concerned with the sense 3.0 ports. they are cool to play with, but no chance of being a daily driver for a while.

i much enjoyed the HD sense interface i had when owning the HD2 ... and the only reason i got a t-bolt is to have an NATIVE NAND running android.... i wondered why this sense was missing some stuff i wanna port HTC hub and some of the 2.1 tweaks...... the thunderbolts interface although faster than cmylxgo's desire hd port on hd. it didnt have as many features.....
since we are on 2.2.1 we need a new sense.... haha or until we get that RIL lib set from a new cm build.... thats pretty depressing
once again forgive me if i seem n00bish in this statement but theoretically couldn't we port the rosie and corresponding framework to our 2.2.1 devices?
obviously not from this dump as it is 2.3

right. why update when they already set the precedent of sticking with the same version till the phone goes EOL? more money for them,
"Oh you just got the brand new Thunderbolt with the CRAZY powerful new snapdragon and 4g? Cool. Running Sense 2.0 right? Nice. New phone coming out next week with the same specs but Sense 3.0. You gonna buy it?"
And since we will never be updated, of course people will go out and buy it. Its the same as the carriers and Google not updating Android versions on older phones, only HTC is even more dickish about it.

I will look at porting this also. I wonder if I can hack something together like I did with miui.
Let me first start by saying the rom doesnt boot completely. It boots all the way to when the screen dims and vibrates, when it is about to display lockscreen.. Logcat shows everything installing and starting correctly.. It wasn't hard to get to this stage, so it gave me a little bit of confidence in this awesome project.. Froyo was my favorite android version, as it was a huge upgrade for my old hero.
I thought it would be hilarious to release cm6 for the nexus s, heck I would have run it for the rest of my nexus's lifetime.
So, let me know what you guys think.. keep digging around to get it booting or give up because its old news..
If anyone wants to help for just a fun proof of concept project, or just to poke around, lemme know, the more the merrier
That is all. Waste of a thread, but that is what the general section is for.
LOL in this time and age running froyo is like going back to xp from windows 7. But yeah as a proof of concept its kind of interesting;-) What would be really interesting, is running gingerbread on the gnx
Oh wow.... I don't even know what to say.....

Yes this is true, but the point is that its almost booting.. I knew this from the start, it will require back porting drivers and probably a few kernel edits, but it may be possible.. in the end its just Linux running on a few upgraded drivers and a few kernel changes..

You also can't install System V(AT&T's Unix system since about 1970) in your computer.

Not without doing some back porting.
This is much easier to do from Gingerbread back to Froyo though, since you are building something to run on the same hardware and software stack (ARM and Android 2.x). The most difficult part would be getting drivers to work, but just as older drivers are made to work on new OS versions with shims and other tricks, in theory this is possible, if not a lot of work.
I'm not sure what will be gained though. Gingerbread didn't seem like a significant resource drain over Froyo, so I can't imagine there are any speed/power gains.

Yeah not really much to gain, but how awesome would it be to be able to be able to add to the list of things that can run on the nexus s.. and froyo on the flagship gingerbread device? against all rules

What about cupcake?
In all seriousness though, froyo would make a great ROM. and It should in theory be faster than GB.

Great Idea! I also thougt already how older Android Versions would run on the Nexus S.
When 2.2 is running, you guys should start porting 1.6 ;-)
Doesn't it help, that the similar SGS already was running 2.2?
Wow...you are amazing swamp goblin.

Yeah, its funny because I tried porting a froyo touchwiz rom from the og epic, and it got to pretty much the same place when booting haha.. hopefully I can get this working, along with other variations of froyo, that would be the greatest achievement for me in any android related stuff.
