Hiya, just brought a HTC Touch HD on ebay and i want to restore back to factory Rom but....
1) I never done anything like this before and my brain is about to blow
2) i don't know where to begin
so any help would be great. i tried looking around but just don't know where to begin
thanks in advance
start at the dummies guide and the Blackstone Wiki.
if you still have issues try to explain exactly what isn't working.
@mods: move to general?

This is a good starting point : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone (not today, it's down).
Also try the stickies in this forum, like this one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=463783
Btw, the ROM subforum isn't the best one to start.
Have fun with your new HD but be aware that it turns easily into an addiction.

never mind....looks like you get a pass......
in the future do yourself a huge favor and just kind of check thru the threads or type what you're looking for in google followed or preceded by the letters xda to better put the forum to use......or you will get flamed....not a threat more of a warning...it's been really touchy lately

Now, where is CG when you need him? Aww, never mind, I'll do it...
Do not open new threads since it makes it hard to find stuff for everyone else. For the future, use this site's search function, the Wiki, Google, Yahoo, or whatever your heart feels at ease with. All in all, "Search Before You Post. And If You DO Need To Post, Do It In The Right Thread!"

hey no problem...I do understand..as many of us do...however that being said...I also can relate to "clogged forum syndrome" and noob "bottle necking"....to some people what you did amounts to walking into a building full of restrooms and immediately you ask which one is the mens room?......flaming is a way of bashing someone online for doing or not doing something that should be obvious to most....there are some who would essentially light you up for the question you posted because there is a seperate thread for wing roms and it appears you did not look for or at it before asking....still if you have never been to the thread and dont know exactly how to search how would you know?.....so take this info with a grain of salt and remember how it feels even after you've been here a while....and perhaps you'll get to explain to the next noob how it goes in the community....all good hope you found what you're seeking......
try google!

Don't follow that previous link in this thread. That was for HTC Wings, which is completely different than the T-Mobile Wing. What you want is the HTC Herald forums (Herald is the manufacturer codename for the Wing). Hope that made sense.

Just got it today?
First tip. GET A PROTECTIVE CASE!
apparently the glass is easy to shatter on these things. get a case with some soft material inside and keep phone SAFE! Practice practice practice knowing where your phone is at all times. DO NOT DRIVE WITH PHONE IN YOUR LAP. Because when you get out one day and you forget? BOOM. shatter. okay?

The Stick threads are the threads that are stuck at the top of the threading listing. It makes them easier to find.
For example, one is titled:
Sticky: [REF] *Leo Hints, Tips and Registry Tweaks* - Updated 4th March.
Install Co0kie Home Tabs 1.6.1 and his CHTEditor, HD2Tweaks, BSBTweaks and you'll never give Nokia another thought.
Read through the Tips and Tweaks as posted above for personal fine tuning and that should keep you happy and sane till XDA finally suss out Android for this beauty!
There really are some talented dudes on these forums who make this device everything it should have been!
Sorry if there is something about this i might of missed search dident help to much.

i believe that comment was because this has been addressed a LOT!! when new users ask questions without doing a little research on their own first people are less likely to help you in this forum. just a heads up for next time. good luck finding the information you need and next time try to spend a little time reading previous posts to find answers first. take care

The reasons why people less likely to help are
1) they don't really have enough or reliable information to give you an exact answer.
2)It is angry when you answer question like this: 1000times
are you a boy?yes
what is your name?noob
are you a boy?yes
what is your name?noob
are you a male?yes
what is your first name?freaking
you sure you are a boy?yes
what is your name again? freaking noob.......
.......
However, mostly XDA users are polite. please read and search...Before you start a thread, if you are lazy...press ALT+F4,it definitely help you heaps.....
Search dude....
I can help u locate the search box on this page..let me know
I keep searching posts looking for an answer but I can't seem to find anyone else who has asked or addressed it.
Is it possible to just install an Android rom on the HD2 instead of running it over WM?
I would like to just run Android and get away from WM all together...
Thank you

Yes, it was a serious question. Thanks for the constructive input, but maybe this will be slightly more helpful.
Look in this forum....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=928
Be ready for lots of reading. Don't be overwhelmed by the amount of information in there. Start with the sticky threads and the [GUIDE] threads and you'll be fine. If you've got specific questions after that then it's probably best to direct them at existing similar threads, rather than create new ones. (Seriously, nearly every question about this topic has already been asked and answered!)
Good luck

The best thing is to look in the accordant section/thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=531
There should be a Q&A-thread or a sticky thread, that could help you.
If not: ask in the accordant thread.
Good luck!
Of course the above OP is absolutly correct, but since you're here try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614
Did this with now 5 different HD's (they wanted someone to blame if it went wrong - me), all 5 HAPPY Android owners (pseudo).
ALL THANKS to mskip you can't miss with his tutorial BUT FOLLOW IT AND READ WELL !!!!
