Hi all,
Love the X1 but have a few niggles which bother me on a daily basis:
1. Email Signature
When ever I have reset the phone or lost power for some reason, my signature reverts to the "sent from my x1" signature. Have to change it back each time. Oddly, it only happens to the signature on my Exchange email, the Gmail one I use is not affected. It stays as what I set it as.
2. Reply All
I noticed this one on my crappy Omnia (had 3 in a row, all faulty). Must be a WM6.1 thing... When I am on the To part of the email, I select Reply All and it decides to send me my reply. How stupid!
Has anyone else seen these issues please?
Open the file explorer of your choice. Go to \Windows\Autostart\ or \Windows\Startup\ (depending on your ROM) and delete the file SignatureReplicator.exe, voila, you can now set your own exchange e-mail signature.
Thanks for that!! Brilliant answer.
I assume the Reply all issue just bothers all WM6.1 users and I have to live with it?

Regarding the reply all issues, check out the link below:
http://blogs.msdn.com/outlook_mobile/archive/2006/03/22/558605.aspx
Basically it is saying that Messaging does not really know who you are, so to work around that issue, you have to enter your email address for that account.
There are instructions shown in the link.
Hope it helps.
This is really nice to have this stupid little problem fixed, thanks!
Odd - if you set up a new account (I have a gmx account) you don't get these issues... I think it only applies to the default outlook inbox account. My GMX account is a seperate inbox........

Wow! Thanks for that. You are a gem. This must bother so many people. Must be in some sticky on this forum...
Guys,
do you know where to find the html file for a new mail composer in WM6.1...?
I have tried searching the forum for this answer but either I am a horrible searcher or I was right and this is a unique problem.
I recently played with the Rogers rom but realized it wasn’t that amazing and went back to CyanogenMod 3.3.4(switched a couple builds in between, I will post those if you would like me to)
Ever since I went from Rogers to Cyanogen's mod I cannot send email or I cannot archive it. It looks like I have archived it on the phone but when I open my computer and see gmail, it shows all of those emails as unread. Also when I get a new email on my phone if I have tried archiving previous emails, I cannot see the archived emails but the number of emails changes as if all the archived emails were unread. It is like I can get email but it is a one way sync. Let me know if you need anymore info.
I hope I posted this in the right forum, I know that the dev forum is being flooded with questions.
Thank you!

A peculiar problem indeed.
Assuming you've already tried wiping (you have, right?), is this only happening on Cyanogens? Or all the other ROM's you tried as well? If you're not sure, try another ROM and see if the problem persists.
If this is persisting through other ROM's then go back to stock and see if it will work from there. Then, get back to us...
I have tried wiping(numerous times) and I have tried just standard JF builds. Still not working. I guess I may go back to T-Mobile Cupcake and Root from RC29(I hope I have the number right)
I'd really rather not have to do this but anyone else have any other idea?
Thanks!

HI , after loads of frustration not being able to set up HOTMAIL on a WINDOWS MOBILE phone (HD2) i have about given up .
i have called my provider and contacted HTC and searched the net over and over for a solution .
i havent found a thing to set up my hotmail account to receive mails directly to my account until this morning while surfing YET AGAIN for a solution .
i thought i would share this with others that are having the same problem with their HOTMAIL account .
this worked for me so far . i have to click on Send/receive to receive an email but maybe it will work if i just wait out the 5 minute intervals for receiving , which i havent done yet.
I have waited the 5 minutes to receive and it is working . just to clairify !
for a person like me that isnt very good at setting up the settings correctly this was easy and problem free
here are the steps
1. Create a new email account.
2. In the email field write your email but replace the “@hotmail.com” with “@hotmail.con”, this way the OS is not going to load Windows live messenger to sync your email.
3. Disable the option “Try to get e-mail settings…”
4. Select the email provider, in this case, Internet e-mail.
5. Complete the name and account display name
6. Incoming server: “pop3.live.com:995″. Account type: POP3
7. Complete the form with your username and password. Note: the username is your full email address: “[email protected]” and not “yourusername”.
8. Outgoing mail server: “smtp.live.com:25″. Check the “outgoing server requires au…”. Click on Advanced settings and check the “Require SSL…” for incoming and outgoing e-mail.
9. Complete the rest of the setup.
10. Now, go to your email account and go to Tools > Options, once there, click on the email account you just created and click on “Edit account setup.” NOTE: It might make you wait until it syncs 1 time.
11. Replace the “@hotmail.con” with the right one “@hotmail.com” and hit next ’till the end of the setup, and done.
now click the HOME button on your handset .go to your email accounts and you will see a new email called hotmail.con .
this is the new email you just created .
you can now receive emails from your hotmail account .
click manually send / receive and it should start loading everything from your hotmail account .
I hope this has helped somone out there .
peace out !
/T
im glad this is solved .

I just don't get the whole story. You don't need to have Windows Live running in order to use Hotmail as push mail. You only need to run Windows Live ONCE in order to setup your account. After that Hotmail is working like any other mail account.

Absolutely. That post is actually for adding more hotmail accounts, which you can't do by default. (Well, it's for adding them manually, rather than through live, which in turn allows you to have more than 1.)
can you elaborate a bit more on your post .

Then search harder in future. When you've been on here longer and helped people more, you may appreciate how frustrating it is to see the same things posted repeatedly. Until that point, you don't understand so you think it's okay. This is not "more useless posts on why you posted this". This is trying to reiterate that you need to improve your "lack of search terminology".
I'm not arguing with you, so therefore will post on this matter no more. Say what you need to say and forget about it.
i have words of advice for you .
i am a senior member on another forum with 130,000 posts over many years .
if you see something that you know has been asked before , why read the Thread/post . who gave you the GOD of the forums title and the search function.
be kind , that will make your life alot easier instead of posting crap like " search harder" and so on .
i do take offence to posts like yours when i am in the newb seat on this board . welcome me and then post a simple link to the related thread that has already been posted .
not this .

I've followed your instructions and glad to report that it works, well kinda. The emails in my Hotmail In Box are now on my phone, but, I can't get the phone to sync to the additional folders that I have created in my Hotmail account.
Example, log into Hotmail using a browser on PC.
Go to folders and you'll have Inbox, Sent etc. I've also created a couple of others like Job Search.
Go to your email on your phone and you only have Inbox and Sent
Any ideas on how I get it to sync with the other folders in my Hotmail account?
I hope the above makes sense, shout if not and I'll do my best to go further into it.
Thanks in advance for anyone that can help.
Sorry to dig up an old post.
I have used this method to setup an additional hotmail account. It works well enough to received mails but if I read (or delete) the same mail from Outlook on my desktop PC it does not mark the mail as read (or delete it) on my HD2 even if I do a manual send and receive. Sync is set to "every 5 minutes".
Is there any way to solve this problem?
I was forwarding an email the other day when somehow or other I managed to find an option to choose the account that the email was sent from - basically received on outlook email and the email app asked me if I wanted to forward from outlook, gmail or hotmail.
I'd like this option which I used to have on the iphone and found very useful, but can't seem to find it again.
Can anyone help please?
Really sorry to bump this but I'd appreciate if anyone could offer some ideas?
I came across what I think you mean only yesterday, but couldn't find this thread to tell you! Glad you bumped it.
Basically, you can't forward an email that received with account A by using account B.
What I found though, is that if you click an email address in an email, it asks which account you want to use, treating the link as a regular email link, rather than forcing you to use the account you're reading the email with.
I hope that explains it, but you definitely can't forward using a different account, and personally I think that makes sense.
John,
Thanks very much that was exactly it. The probem is that you can't do that with the senders email address, only links in the email text.
can see your point, but the option came in handy previously on occasions where I received an email at work with contents that you definitely wouldn't want to forward from that account! So I would just hit the dropdown and send from gmail instead.
In terms of enterprise management though I doubt our IT staff realised I could do it.
Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.

No worries mate - glad to help.
Just a suggestion, but could you not just forward the email to the account that you do want to forward from? Then you simply remove the header from the last email so it looks like it was never sent from that account.
I know it's long-winded, but it will achieve the desired effect.
The thought behind it was more that I wasn't forwarding emails from my work account at all, which I'd still have be doing by sending it to myself.
As you can imagine, no matter how funny rude or downright disgusting a received email is, sending it from a work address is a no-no!
Again, cheers for your help. My work round now is saving attachments to storage and then forwarding them from my own address - just as long winded.
And there's always cut and paste.
Dan.
hi,
i have no solution for the build in email. but if you not scared to try an 3rd party program that is not for free, you can give flexmail a try.
i just made a test, i forward a mail that arrived on account 'a'/at provider 'a' to an account 'c'/at provider 'c', using account 'b'/at provider 'b' as sender address. it works perfectly.
there is a trail version of the programm so you can take a look yourself bevore buying.

Hi.
(stupid me, the post title should read bcc not bbc!)
I've searched around for this but I can't seem to find anything. I recently switched from my trusty Touch HD (winmo6.1) to the Desire HD. I have a MS Exchange (2007) account and was hoping having Android might solve the issue of read receipts being automatically sent out. Whenever I read an email sent to my Exchange account where they have asked for a read receipt, the phone automatically sends the receipt. On Outlook or Thunderbird it always asks you (well it does if you set it that way). I really don't want receipts being sent out without my permission as it's a bit of an invasion of privacy. What happens if I wake in the middle of the night and happen to read some email- I don't particularly want my clients knowing I am reading emails in the middle of the night! There was no way of resolving this on WinMo but is it possible with the HTC Desire HD?
The 2nd question is still email related. I have multiple email accounts which all get sent to my Exchange account. This is fine, but if I want to reply from one of those email accounts then this is more difficult. The only way I could think of was to set up the other accounts as imap/pop3 accounts so that I can at least reply from them. The only thing is I don't want it to download all those messages again. there doesn't seem to be an option to not automatically download emails to an account (so you can just use it for sending email). Am I missing something?
Finally, it's great that HTC have given an option to automatically bcc yourself, but it's not anything more than that. I assume it emails the email address for that account, but I want to send to a specific email address which I have set up. Is this possible?
Thanks again!

Yes, I am 100%. I was aware of the Exchange 2010 thread, but it's not relevent to my question. I use Exchange 2007, but my question referrs to being able to send to a specific email address on bcc, being able to set other accounts not to download email (so I can use them only for sending), and about read receipts.
Perhaps I should have posted this in the questions and answers thread at the top, but I thought it would be ok to post a new thread.
I'm still new to this forum, and to be honest I'm always a bit wary of posting something in case I get a "use the search facility" type answer. I do understand it's important not to clutter up things in the forum, but we don't want to scare off the newbies do we?!
If this should be in the questions and answers thread then please close and I'll repost there.
