I got a T-mobile mytouch from my father not too long ago and im currently trying to root it but im kind of failing to understand. Can you not flash 32A roms when I have a 32B phone? or is there any radios or something that converts or changes your phone from 32a to a 32b? Cause from what I see they havent released many roms for 32b frequently so im wondering is it worth it? or is there another forum that i can find more 32b roms like in the g1 section or something?
32a phones have a completely different main board than a 32b. 32b is basically the same as a G1 device (it has more ROM), and so most G1 roms are also built for the 32b Magic (AKA Sapphire).
A 32A rom/radio/spl has a VERY high chance to unrecoverably brick your device.

This may be a stupid(noob) question but I really new to this Android OS and 32a/32b thing. Can someone please tell me the difference between 32a and 32b and if you have a 32b phone can you flash 32a roms. And 32b phones flash G1 roms. Is G1 a 32b phone also. I'm asking these questions because I dont want to brick my phone I'm a flash junky.

dream and some htc magics have same RAM (192 MB) I think that's why roms work for both devices, some versions of htc magics have more ram (32A) these devices need different roms

Thank you for the info. So from what you are saying I can flash G1(Dream) roms on my Mytouch. So that would make G1(Dream) have a 32b board in it. Right?
You can't flash a 32A ROM on a 32B device unless you first flash a 32A Radio on your 32B. You still won't have the extra RAM though
You can flash G1 ROMs on 32B because they both share the same PVT-32B mainboard. That's what's confusing: actually, the MT3G/32B Sapphire is closest to the G1 than it is to the Magic/32A Sapphire.
I suggest that you read the wiki and the stickies in the dev forum, most questions you could have are answered there

I just recently got this phone and just switched from a G1 whats the best and latest SPL for 32b MT or is it no different from 32a? Either way whats the latest? Is it 1.76? Or do i use G1 SPL's since almost all 32b roms are also G1 roms?

I have never seen a reason to switch the spl on my mt3g. I have always kept it stock

I use the •Engineering SPL 1.33.2005 one because many forums say it plays nice with other roms and mods and the board. Though I have flashed 2010 and it worked as well. I use those on the MT3G 32b. 1.76 is for 32a. As far as I know on that one you want the 1.76.2007. hope that helps

AFAIK, it's 32B, but somehow different? Can I flash any the dev SPL on it somehow?

Seemed like 32A and 32B, but multiple wikis warn me about not trying stuff meant for 32B on the 1.2 MyTouch.

Its a 32a board with 32b radio.
Alright, so I finally got my MyTouch rooted.
Now I am looking at possibly changing my ROM, however most of the ROMs are made for 32A boards, I have a 32B board.
Is it possible to flash a 32A ROM and do some sort of update/fastboot update to get it working on a 32B phone? Or am I just talking crazy here and need to find a 32B ROM I like?

i havent seen any 32a only roms, which ones have you been looking at?
generally if there arent any instrusctions on how to go from 32a to 32b there probably isnt any support for 32b. 32b has a lot less memory so you are much more likely to find 32b roms that have 32a additional steps than the other way around.
If you have a 32b then flash 32b roms. Most of them are in the g1 section. You are talking crazy. Lol. There are plenty of good 32b roms out there. I am using chromatic 4.2 until I update to 4.3 . If you want 2.2 that one is pretty fast. Happy flashing
has anyone actually sucessfully managed to turn there Mytouch 32B into a Magic 32A? Really looking for a answer here because i have a spare MT3G and want to try this because ROMs for the 32A series are so much better.
