Forgive me if this has been asked, I've searched for an answer and found nothing helpful...
So the new market seems to be problematic, how can I get (and keep) the old market?
IT seems like when I uninstall the updates, its the old market for awhile, then the new market installs?
Also, some items (Netflix and such) don't show up anymore in Market... what gives?
Any help would be great, and I'll click the "thanks button" for anyone who helps me
Edit: this seems to stop the market from updating...

I found this posted over at the HTC Aria forum by user mtnlion and thought somebody might be interested. You can turn off the market updater (which is responsible for bringing the new market back over and over) by going to terminal emulator and typing:
Code:
$ su
# pm disable com.android.vending.updater
This can be re-enabled by doing the same as above but typing enable instead of disable. I've tested it and it appears to persist after reboot. If you already have the new market you can go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Market > Uninstall Updates. This will revert you to the old market. Do it after disabling updater.
This doesn't stop automatic updates of apps according to the other thread. I'm sure some of you already know about this but hopefully it'll help somebody.

Doesn't fix my issue of the missing apps though

Are you reverting to the old market because of the constant FC messages? or do you have other complaints?

Reverting back to the old market because the new market seems to be missing apps (netflix, etc etc) and the fact that the new market looks (and functions) like crap.
I have no issues with FC's... yet.
OK, well I don't want to stray your thread because I'm having a number of other issues with FC's. I'll start another thread.
Good luck.
Uninstall the market update app. (I used Titanium Backup.) Then uninstall the update and you should remain with the old market.
I can't get any updates. As soon as I start to download an update to any installed app, Market force closes. Any ideas?

Nightly 177 from SDcard.
3.0.27
build.prop is as is
Any app I try to update or install new. Here is an example at random: Solitaire by Ken Magic. Tried to install, get the download screen and boom force close.
I'm an inch away from just nuking my card and starting over. It was all happy until I tried updating the Market to the newest one and it's been in a death spiral ever since.
Thanks,
Homer
What I did, was rename marketupdater.apk to marketupdater.apk.bak.
I want to say the file is in /system/app
Then uninstall the market updates.
I don't know if it has anything to do with my market working, but I also did LCD Density to 160 fix. You can find that here on the forums pretty easily... But I read that the LCD Density fix only works a few days.
Mine's been working fine for at least the last week or so with these 2 things.

I think you answered your own question. Uninstall the market updater app. (I used Titanium Backup for this.) Then, go to the settings for the market app and uninstall the update.
I found this but haven't been able to run the linux stuff from terminal emulator (Su fails).
So I can't say if this works or not.

I'm on SD card to, with CM7. I'd love the old marketplace back, but also settle for having all of the download icons show. (I haven't been able to save edits to my build.prop).
Update: 11/20/11 Unofficial Market update which brings it to Version 3.3.12. Better integration with the Music market. You can now download free music and purchase music as well. Sorry U.S.A. only for free music (?)
How to install: download apk and install like any other apks.
http://db.tt/0j3ii5Oq
Here is the latest (leaked?) update of the Market which brings it to version 3.3.11.
And here's how I installed it: I am currently on CM7 nightlies
Download .apk (Market-3.3.11.apk)
Open Root explorer (or any file manager w/ root access)
Move New Market .apk (Market-3.3.11.apk) to system/apps (make sure to mount R/W first)
Move (or delete, but I suggest to move .apk just in case) older market .apk (Vending.apk) to your sdcard
Rename new market as Vending.apk
Fix Permissions (rw--r--r)
Exit Root Explorer (or any file manager)
Reboot
Done! Whew...
OR...
Download .apk
Rename New Market .apk to "Vending.apk" (w/o the quotes)
Install just like any other apllication
Reboot (if necessary)
*I didn't get the chance to try the second option so it may or may not work, but it kinda made sense...
**not sure if (Vending.apk) is the same name for SENSE ROMS (I don't remember) but just make sure to rename it the same way...

Hmm this actually is worth the trouble. LOL
you could do it the lazy way and hover over the link on this website and after about 3s a qr code will show up
DL'd and installed earlier. I had been having problems with the speed of other 3.x market apps, this fixes those all, even on 3g. However, some of my installed apps aren't showing up (like Google Maps, of all things). I'm sure there's a simple solution to that, though.

from the "CRACKED" speedy EVO engine... Via Tapatalk.
It won't install for me. It keeps saying application not installed. If I use root explorer to place the .apk in the /systems/app folder I just get force closes. Clearing data doesn't help either. I have downloaded it several times thinking it was a corrupted download. I'm at wits end here. I have done everything in this post even before I read it as I have updated to all the other previous market releases without issue.
But for some reason this one just doesn't work. I thought maybe it wasn't working on cm7.1 nightli or or the evo shift but some of you have it working so that isn't it. Let me redo this and maybe format cache and dalvik see if that helps.

did you rename the .apk of the new update?
I had zero issues with the new Market. I just installed it like any other .apk. The new Market is very nice. Many small noticable differences. Like when on the My Apps page and you switch accounts it leaves you on the My Apps page instead of reloading the whole damn Market. Overall new Market is definitly an improvement and Vicodan should stop being such a hater

I did try that, but no luck. I'll probably just ignore it until the next time I flash a ROM. Then it'll fix itself, so that's fine. I imagine it's only going to be a few days until I do that anyway.

Titanium Backup can restore all your Market links. I believe there's also other apps designed just to do that too. Use TB or search for an app that restores Market links.

Are you on a Sense ROM?
Good to know that it installed fine for you.
It is totally possible to sideload google apps without Rooting on version 6.2.1. It is a fairly simple process but needs to be done in the correct order.
1.Open Settings
2. Select Device
3. Turn on Allow Installation of Applications from Unknown Sources
4. Download GoogleServicesFramework.apk and install. You need to download the correct version or it will not install. I apologize for not having the version number but currently it can be found @ www.mediafire.com/?4ykd6rdikmz5l8c
6.Download books.apk - Do Not Open
7. Reboot
8. Open Books and add google account. This even works with multiple accounts.
9. Shortly after you should have a notification requesting permission of your google account. Click allow.
10. Sideload Google apps of your choice. See below for options.
Google Apps that work
Google Music
Google +
Google Books
others...
Sideloading Google Apps
1.Sideloading Google app of your choice
1a.Find on filesharing website i.e. 4shared.com, filestube.com, etc.
1b. Backup from another device and use drop box to access
1c. Transferring apk via USB
2. Open .apk file and click install
This will work flawlessly if done in the right order. Remember GoogleServicesFramework.apk install, books.apk, reboot , open books , add account, and voila.
If I have helped you please thank me.
Enjoy.....

6.2
Will this also work with 6.2?
install lookoutsecurity before installing apps from third party warez sites............or just root it and use android market
This is fantastic. Once I have books installed and my gmail account synced, will I be able to just grab a Market apk to sideload and then get everything I want from the Market?
I've been back and forth between the Nook Tablet and the Kindle Fire as my cheap tablet to buy, and the Nook Tablet took a big hit when they disabled sideloading. I think the Kindle Fire is popular enough that it will also be a target for an official CM9 release as the CM9 project gains steam.

The subject of the thread is wrong Misleading.
You can't install the GoogleServicesFramework.apk into /system/app where it needs to be in order for it to work without having root access.
Update:
You need that GoogleServicesFramework.apk to do things like Android Market, Gmail etc...
You can only install a few google apps without root access. The Market Place requires root access, which you can't get with the latest version of the kindle software (6.2.1)
If you are rooted and have Market already installed, will today's update make Market stop working?
If you have GoogleServicesFramework.apk installed, will that cease to function?
Will it break the wallpaper change fix?

Depends how you installed/updated it. All files in /system/app get replaced. If you installed the market place and it has since updated itself (installing to a different location that doesn't get cleared with the update) then you should be okay. Had a fresh install of the Market Place following online guides to copy it into /system/app then a good chance it will stop working.

I reinstalled the 'GoogleServicesFramework.apk' (the version I had installed previously, not the one linked above). It installed fine but I get The application Market has stopped unexpectedly Force Close when I boot the Kindle, and also when I try to run the Market place and Install an app.
Until I ran the GoogleServicesFramework.apk I didn't get the bootup error. I ran the installer from the sdcard, previously (with root access) I was able to copy and run it from '/system/app' which I think makes all the difference.

Does your Gmail still update itself and show new email notifications without you having to open gmail and manually refresh? I think though Gmail still runs the service that runs in the background has stopped post update.

I had 6.2 rooted but got updated to 6.2.1 even I amended the hosts file and rename the Silent apk to bak, also with TWRP 2.0 installed. Anyway, I re-install the GoogleServicesFramework.apk, and I can access the Android Market again.
I tried to use the GoogleServicesFramework.apk link provided in this thread, but it didn't work. The original one worked, so I am happy to be able to access the Android Market again.

Hi,
I am kind of new to Android (not linux) and I am asking myself, if it is even possible to enable the search function somehow in Google Market.
There are several attempts to do so and some report it working. Unfortunately, the working reports are so old that I am confused weather it is still possible or not.
I have tried several Vending.apk's, even the ones reported working as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15084704&postcount=51
I am on 1.1.2. Maybe someone could confirm/disprove Market search working or not. Then we would know if struggling is worth the task getting it to work.
Thanks for the reply

Use SearchMarket.apk to search for apk's in the market.
It work's if you have registered your gmail account correctly (that is your market.apk works/connects to google play).
http://www.appbrain.com/app/searchmarket/youten.redo.searchmarket?install=appwidget
yeah no, that was not what i meant.
Of course Market is working with a proper gmail adress. I was talking about it being possible to search the market w/o searchmarket app. Like people telling it would work, but most posts are still of 2011. So my question is: Is it even possible to search the Market in nowadays Google Play time w/o 3rd party apps?
Why is searching not possible? IMO, it is because of server restictions, not because of the Vending.apk. Right?
So I assume these "claimed to be working" Vending.apk's are not working anyway anymore, are they?
Thx
How can I get the SearchMarket.apk file for manual adb installation? My Nook Market app won't let me install any app.
Edit: Managed to get it installed by searching for it from within the Browser and installing from the web interface. Weird but after that the SearchMarket app was shown topmost on MyApps in Market and could be clicked, which begun installation.
The problem is Market for Nook only displays a limited # (~15) of MyApps (given I have a Galaxy S3 with 350+ apps installed and that the Nook Market doesn't restrict to Nook installed ones).
just download market search from gstore ....... log on gmail acc that u root ur nst with and go to google store and search ur appz ur desire and download to ur acc ....... once u connect ur nook to wifi ur appz will download successfully , between that i am use market seacher on my rooted nst 1.1.2 and works great till now , try methid above with reinstall market searcher

I recently uninstalled (deleted) the apks of certain android apps like gtalk, calendar from my system/app folder on my rooted NST using root explorer.
Not sure if it is related, but, unable to install any app now from the app market. I use app-brain app market for downloading apps.
I'm able to find the apps, but on clicking on download, it doesn't get downloaded and instead says it is 'downloading' without any apparent change.
Is the problem related to the deletion of certain apks?
Note: haven't deleted any apk even associated with the word download/market.

Now that we have root I've been able to test and verify that Google Play Store can be installed. So far I'd had no issues. Obviously you'll need root access first which I've put links below.
Rooting tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544965
Rooting video: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546117
1. Download the following zip file which includes all the required files (KFHDX_PlayStore).
2. Install Google Account manager, Services Framework, and Play Services (it is not necessary to install as system app).
3. Reboot
4. Install Vending.apk in "system/app" (requires to make "/system" RW) then open up the app and log-in with you account.
5. Install Google Play Store
Even though Play Store can be installed with account, downloading of apps are not working. Stay tuned.

Yes, Play Store is working fine and now shows up in my Play Store setting account. Versions are as follows:
Account manager: 4.03
Services Framework: 4.04
Play Services: 4.034
Only Account Manager and Framework require the older version. Play Services always works on KF with latest version. Also Play Store is latest version as well.

After installing the latest PLaystore, following your sequence carefully, the app says No Connection when I try to open it. Also the force close message about the Gapps process pops up as soon as I boot up the tablet now.

That's fine. Vending app never work after I added my account. Just update to latest Play Store right away after and it'll be fine.

Hey, thanks for everything you're doing. When I open up vending apk once i've moved it to system/app i agree to the terms of services and then it crashes. If install and open again it just crashes after a couple of seconds.
When I went to open the playstore it worked for about 30 seconds and then it crashed (I did notice my account was logged in). Now when I open it, it crashes straight back to the homescreen.
Tried That

Tried that, but problem persists. App still says No Connection.

Same thing for me. I have "retry connection" when I open the Play Store after putting in my account information.

Is it possible for you to make a video of this? The only reason I got my device rooted was because of your videos.

Now that we have root I've been able to test and verify that Google Play Store can be installed. So far I'd had no issues. Obviously you'll need root access first which I've put links below.

Now enjoy your super Amazon tablet.

After I copy Vending.apk in "system/app", install it, then open it, Services Framework and com.google.process.gapps starts stoping but Vending.apk is still running. I enter my account info but gets stuck on a loading screen but I can look at settings. If I try to look at My apps in setting "A server error has occurred." I closed vending and rebooted. Then I installed Google Play Store and opened it but it says No connection. (It is not Iptables causing the conflict.)

I will make a video soon but it's basically the same as the KF HD so you can check that video for now. I would suggest for everyone that is having trouble to make sure you remove all sideloaded Google apps if you had installed them. I had some issues before when I tried to re-install some Google apps after removing my account. I began with a fresh start that had no sideloaded apps. So far I'd had no issues with FC, or messages. I know people suggest installing all apps in system/app but if I prefer to keep system app installation to a minimum. If it doesn't require it then I don't do it. That was the case with old KF HD and I had no issues and I will do the same on the KF HDX.
