sappimg failed, to update. i powered off the phone thinking ill just go into recovery mode, put a new sappimg on my sd. the phone now wont power on.
none of the combinations of buttons do anything, ive tried taking out the battery n so on. no led light either.
does anyone have any ideas? why would it brick like this after the sappimg fail?
only thing I can think of is check the battery do you have any leds doing anything mine once flashed red leds found out later the battery was dead
aslo by fail do you mead in failed to start or failed to finish
like half of the updates failed. i had left t6he phone plugged in. after about 30 min of it being plugged in, ill get a led light, either the orange/red or green. if i hit the power button the light woudl turn off.
anyways, i picked up another mytouch off craigslist last night for 120.

I believe I bricked my G1. When I try turning on the phone the screen stays black and doesn't respond at all except for the red light that turns on. And I can't access any of the "setup screens" (I don't know what they're called).
I was trying to downgrade to RC29 by putting DREAIMG.nbh into my sd card and then pressing the camera button + end button. I got to the setup screen but nothing happened, it just hanged there so I pulled out the battery. Then I went online to find another method and found the home button + end button method. But when I tried it I needed update.zip which I didn't have on my sd card at the time so I tried the first method again. The same thing happened, it just hanged on the setup screen. So I pulled out the battery again and now I can't get it to turn back on.
Is the battery charged?
You haven't bricked anything because you haven't actually done anything yet.. It doesn't sound like you have much idea what you're doing or why. I'd suggest some more reading first.
does the red LED blink? If so, charge your battery and you'll be ok...
I tried to put a sappimg on my phone and half the updates failed. Then I tried to boot into Recovery but this phone isn't turning on at all. No charger led, nothing. Can't start up by pushing ANY buttons. Took battery out for 30 sec..nothing. I was thinking of telling T-mo(my carrier) that I had lost my phone in order to get a new one. But before I do does anyone know what this could be?
Im new to this and i might be 100% wrong but i think you might have followed the instrutions for the old mytouch.
Did you make a gold card?
Yes, I made a gold card. And I did follow the old instructions. I couldn't find anywhere else to unroot. But now, all I get is a flashing red light when holding the power button, and an orange led light when charging and a blue led light when holding the trackball and and power but nothing turns on.
Hello, I recently got a used Mytouch 4G, and after a week of use, it has been acting wierd. Lately I have been DL'ing apps for free. Yesterday I was trying to root my phone, which led to complete failure, I tried everything to root it, and it wouldnt root. So I Factory Reset about 5 times yesterday, and put all of my old apps back on. Today, I got on my mytouch and all the apps I put on disappeared and left me with shortcuts that lead to nothing. So I Factory Reset again just to get rid of misc junk, and re-added all of my old apps. I was in the middle of installing a new app, and it began to install, then froze. I was unable to turn it off, so I took out battery and put it back in. It seemed to start fine but it would just stay at loading screen and say "Mytouch" and kept restarting itself, and it would not turn off, again.. So I took the battery out and put it back in, and same thing, this was repeated several times, then I left it off and put the charger in, the orange'ish light came on, then turned green. I held the "power" button for a minute, and it wouldnt turn on. It still wont turn on, and the charging light wont light up noow.
Simplified:
MyTouch 4G bought used.
Android 2.2.1
Temp rooted several times for apps.(never perm rooted).
Will not turn on; Charging light wont turn on; volumedown + power button doesnt work.
When I plug it into the computer it makes a sound, but doesnt let me access it.
Was unable to perm root.
Says QHSUSB_DLOAD in device manager
Please, any help is appreciated, this phone has no warranty..
Dead - looks like it has its SBL corrupted. You can't repair it yourself.
I went out for a while with my battery at 20%, when I came back it had drained out. I put it to charge, but when I tried to switch it back on, it refused to boot. On a normal power button press, it would vibrate 3 times and then the red notification light would start blinking. Same thing with power + volume_up. If I press power + volume_down, it would vibrate 5 times and the green notification light would stay lit. Nothing comes on the screen, whatsoever.
I was rooted with S=off, and was using the Operation Inferno ROM (which I have been using comfortably for the past month or so).
I did try some stuff with ADB, such as using it to reboot into bootloader and recovery (same 3 vibrate + red notification light), pushed the Operation Inferno ROM again to the sdcard and tried to restore the ROM from that location (for which I got adb: unable to open file /sdcard/backup.zip).
I haven't yet gotten around to downloading and installing the factory image some have suggested for the eMMC issue (PD15IMG.ZIP) but I wanted additional opinions considering most people with an eMMC issue have been able to open HBOOT at least.
When the phone doesn't power on, neither ADB nor fastboot will help you. There is no device on the other side, so all your attempts went to the drain, and it was expected. Nothing to do with eMMC issue or anything else. Your phone just doesn't power on.
Put your phone to charge, if the light turns orange - just leave it to charge until it's green, then disconnect and try to power on.
If the light doesn't turn orange, or it doesn't power on even after charging - remove the battery for 10 min, press Power button for 1/2 min, release the button, reinsert the battery, put to charge. And again, let it charge before you try to turn it on.
I did charge it earlier (for about half an hour or so) and the orange light does come, but it didn't boot after that either.
I'll just give it a try by charging it through the night and see.
I think a key thing is to take out your battery for 10 min, as Jack_R1 suggested. Then proceed with the charging.

Still doesn't work. I dissembled it and kept it like that for quite some time, then put everything back and charged it for hours. Still the same issue happening during boot.
Connect the phone to USB, powered off, see if the PC recognizes "QHSUSB_DLOAD" device. Try to power it on, see if it happens.
If it happens - it means your primary bootloader is screwed, in another words - no repair (actually, repair is theoretically possible, but no guide, no information and no sources exist for MT4G).

When its plugged in, its recognised by the ADB (even when powered off), and I can do some basic commands (mentioned in the first post). When I power it on the same thing happens as when it wasn't plugged into USB (ie, the vibration and the blinking LED).
I'm also worried about water damage, since a very tiny amount did come on it as I was sweating profusely. Although the indicators in the battery tray and on the battery itself don't signal damage (they're completely white) I've just decided to try and keep it opened up in a bowl of rice, just in case, until someone is able to come out with some idea.
As I'm in India, taking it to T-Mobile is not an option. If nothing works out, I might take it to HTC and see if they can help out.
So near the end of the day yesterday I realized my phone was dead / had **** down.
Every time I turned it on, it would auto shut off. I tried to charge it for a while and it would not turn on. It would not even turn on plugged in.
So I read on this forum to go into recovery, I tried that. It would say No Command and then turn off after a while. Then i tried to let the battery die. It did.
I would try to charge, it would show the charging animation, I would take it off the charger it would still continue to show the charging animation.
So I took it off the charger for a few hours. Tried it again nothing. This morning I have it on the charger, there is a red blinking light. No charging animation, it won't turn on. Nothing...
I read stuff and most people who have had similar issues either got the phone to turn on by flashing a new rom, or letting battery drain. But I can't do anything to phone.
On charge I try to power it on and go into boot loader nothing happens.
Anyone have any other ideas?
Edit: Called Google Support after posting this. They want to replace phone.
What rom / kernel did you use?

If you can access the bootloader you phone is fine there is another thread here in Q&A about fixing red LED phones. Just be careful as I had the same thing and no my phone is completely unresponsive.
Hold the volume down button and the try plugging the phone into a PC/power outlet this should put you in fastboot mode from there try to flash the google stock images.
I just ordered the replacement phone.
I did not use any ROM or Kernel. I just used the phone as is. For recovery. I just chose recovery hoping it would have something come with stock.
I opened this phone on Monday.
Also yes. I tried the bootloader thing at first / last night. But slowly it lost all charger now it won't charge or respond. It just has a flashing red light.
Hopefully Google doesn't take 5-6 weeks with replacement phone. It took 6 weeks to get this one.
