So I saw if you go to Cyanogenmods official website and to "screens" there is actually a auto updater for the CyanogenMod.. (this forum won't let me post the link to the screens)
Saw this when I was rooting the rom, and then saw that its out on the Android Market labeled as Cyanogen updater or something of that sort, but no support for the Nexus One?
Is this on the way? And if so..if you update the rom like this, does it delete your apps? (The Google apps AND the regular apps)
Should be QA Section (or at least General)

The updater is currently for the 4.X series of roms, and until it is able to make a distinction between which device is currently accessing it, I don't think the current 5.X series will be on there. Eventually for sure, just not this week or next...
As for your second question, NO you do not lose apps (google or otherwise) with an in place upgrade of Cyan's Roms

Ah so it can't even update to the latest stable version? Not that it matters much if it doesn't even work on the Nexus..
Works Fine...
The updater works fine. Cyanogenstated himself that it was taken care of before the roms even started into beta. if you download it it recognizestje 5.0.2 Rom clearly. just look at it uptop.
Edit... Okay so I'm not sure if it works pretty good in going from a older cyan to a newer one. I do know that it does show that it recognizes the latest Rom...

So the updater does work for the latest rom? You also make it sound like there's support to install this updater on the N1 when everything I have read so far points to no.

Yes, just like the other guy said. He's already said the framework was already in place for the updater to work with the 5.x series.
He has not yet released the updates via the updater for 5.x because he led me to believe he wanted to get incremental updates working first otherwise it'll have to download the entire ROM each time... which shouldn't be necessary and is a huge waste of bandwidth.
Whatever his reasoning is, he definitely told me he plans on releasing the updates via the currently released updater that's in the marked at some point.
Yeah, new updates will come via the updater. Need to restructure the files on my server first.
Once Cyanogenmod updater works with the Nexus will it be released on the Market? I would think it would make it alot easier to install that way.
You guys kinda skimped on answering if the updater will ever work on the N1, what is the answer on that?
Really? Cyanogen himself just answered your question. If simple english is too much for you to handle maybe you shouldn't be on the forums. Sorry.
Yes, the updater will eventually work for the nexus one. Bye bye now

I'm sorry but what he said was that the updates will come via the updater..that means the new versions will be supported by the updater. Jackass.

You're right, but if you read the post by me just above that, I explicitly say that it's "via the currently released updater that's in the market"
Your question had already been answered.

Because I sure as hell don't see a answer to that in your post on page 1.

Yes I know that..but according to the information on it in the market, it won't run on the Nexus. Is this not true or something?
Edit: I just downloaded the updater from market, it seems to run on the n1, just the rom supposedly doesn't update.
You're a moron.
The app is there, its been there. It was meant for other cyanogen 4.xxx series roms, so NOT for nexus one.
What cyanogen is saying is that soon it (THE SAME APP) will support the nexus one as well.
There you go douchebag, learn to read

You shouldn't have deviated from stock in the first place. I would even go as far to say you shouldn't have even rooted your phone. You're going to get flamed....... You should have searched, and that tutorial is pretty basic. Figure the **** out

Click the link in my signature.
Instead of the zip files in my thread, download the zip file from the shipping ROM thread (" You may get the Original Shipping Image from HERE or thru Modaco HERE. [22607 build] ").
before going back to stock i recommend trying cm.5.0.6 rom, its 10x better then stock.
This may not be to your liking, but why not go with Cyanogen? Its UI is optimized for the Nexus One. Combined with HelixLauncher it's even more kick a$$.
Maybe i should try cyanogen
I heard that its really good :] And it is full version? not alpha like desire ROM, right? :]

they're not buggy but compared to cyan the battery life just sucks. I don't think many people use those ROMS as their primary OS.
This is SPH-D700-EB13-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 as pulled from the Samsung update program. I figured I'd put it up, I didn't see it posted yet.
Sorry it's a zip, but it's huge and I'm not paying for MediaFire.

I had problems with Megaupload, so more download sources are always welcome. I'm already on EB13, but I broke it by applying a battery mod so I'm getting the framework-res.apk out of this so I can fix it. (Atleast I think thats all I need to fix it...)
EDIT: Apparently rfs doesn't mean reiserfs, its actually robust file system, so I couldn't just mount factoryfs.rfs and fetch the file. I ended up flashing your copy of EB13 anyway

That isn't going to give you "vanilla" froyo ( that isn't the correct term, AOSP is stock android). You have to wait for Cyanogenmod to be finished.

Give my midNIGHT (BYOR Edition) ROM a try.... That will be as stripped down as it comes. Only add back what you want.
Hey gang. I just wanted to post some info (while asking for other info) about the latest 4.54 OTA Sprint/HTC are pushing out starting yesterday.
Based on my finds,
What has changed:
system/app/HtcLoggers.apk - deleted from 4.54 - good for you HTC
system/bin/debuggerd - date changed from Augest 10 to October 5
system/lib/libhtc_ril_switch.so - changed, but I don't know what yet
system/lib/libhtc_loggers.so - deleted from 4.54
build.prop - obvious values, et cetera
RAMDISK - probably removed a few CIQ related instances
system/etc/security/cwcerts.zip
system/etc/security/otacerts.zip
system/etc/NOTICE.html.gz
system/customize/AAInfo.txt - updated version number, et cetera
system/xustomize/MNS/default.xml - again, just version number stuff
What hasn't changed:
system/framework/ - ZERO JARs have changed. So ROM devs, be happy.
system/xbin
system/app - ZERO apks changed in smali/xml/images. But all changed in Android.manifest (updated version numbers, but that's it, no need to bother)
I'll be updating this throughout the day. I have work to do on the Classic.
As far as I can tell, this is it! Enjoy!
Sincerely,
Tommy
ps. I'm not perfect. If you find otherwise or can prove that I am wrong, I will be more than happy to change my statements
Checking APKs right now. Update in a few minutes.
Hopefully they got rid of the MMS compression. That is the only thing keeping me from sense roms.

Done. Everything that's changed has been logged. Feel free to add to it if you get official word
My assessment: Don't bother with adding the apks. Their version history is updated but code is the same. Must adds: libhtc_ril_switch.so, debuggerd. Otherwise, be happy!
so the topic with a big question mark at the end is in android development?

Seriously? When a dev (especially a good one) asks or answers a question that may help with further Android development, I consider that development.
