Same here. I verified the URL with my alogcat, it's the same. Rebooting now....
Took a while to boot, but it booted and I'm on FRF91 now. Nice.
Will these updates to FRF85 be integrated into aosp??

It did take a long time to boot. I hooked it up to ddms to make sure it wasn't looping.

With my old Android phone Samsung used the term "security fixes" as synonym for "fix glitches that allowed root access"… I hope Google is doing some real security fixes
nvm...................
It would be nice if we had a full update of it instead of incremental. That would be easier to make a rooted update from for those of us that are lazy.

But they may fix the new "root access without unlocking the bootloader" exploit that popped from FRF72 onward.
You're right, didn't think about this one.
hmm... I don't use gmail all that much. I think I'll stick to CM 6 as the alpha 3 or test 1 will be here soon with FRF91 I'm sure

Hey everyone!
It's 5:47am on this Tuesday, November 9th, and I have a firmware update notification in the status bar.
What should I do?
Devs?
: )
Are you running a custom Rom or stock? If stock, what is your current software and firmware version.

I'm running a custom rom, SlideMeRoot, with the first Mytouch Slide update applied.
Or SlideMeRoot is a version of the stock rom?
Then:
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Software number: 1.27.531.1
Images attached.
They are trying to give you the OTA. Don't take it if you like your root.

There hasn't been a text message sent out about any other updates. This is them trying to ruin your root access.

Seriously doubt it.

I also haven't heard about any privilege revocation updates in that case.
The OTA broke root for so many people it isn't funny.

Slidemeroot uses is older than ota, they are sending you the rom that cr modded(1.3.x). Upgrade to cr for new radio and it will go away.
Edit: read rest of your post,it may be a small hotfix, probably not 2.2 .Maybe 2.1.1

Sounds like you've got the OTA many of us have had for quite some time. Take a look at my signature; if your build resembles my current ROM it's an older OTA. Post some screen shots as you did earlier so we can see the change since you've updated. Thanks.

Bear in mind the OTA update was more than just a radio upgrade ... which from your initial post appears to be the extent of the OTA you have had for quite some time. Interested to see the updated screen shots though ...

Dude (and everyone else who reads this thread), please -- I'm asking for guidance here.
So if you want me to do something, articulate what that is.
I will transfer the update from my phone and post it here, just tell me HOW.
Anything else you need: also articulate what that is and how.

It was more than a radio upgrade; it was also a fix for other slide conundrums.
So you want me to apply this OTA update and post screen shots?
Because that would be unwise for a rooted phone...
Some users are claiming that they are receiving Gingerbread 2.3 OTA updates. Too bad, I can't get it since I am on a Custom ROM and will have to wait for it little longer.
http://www.google.com/#q=gingerbrea...&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CE0Q5QUwAw&fp=1&cad=b
Sorry, seems like false alarm.
http://twitter.com/ryenyc
When I see the actual proof, then I'll believe it.
Also, the guy posted a tweet after saying it was a false alarm... the guy was probably hiding under a rock for the FRG83d update, and that's what he got.
lmfao, why do people tweet "OMG< GINGERBREAD!!!1" when the update hasn't even downloaded yet. Some people are just a bit special.
Think about it... no SDK, no OTA.
The SDK came out a few weeks after the OTA for one of the previous Android updates.
I've just had a notification of a 2 part update. Install of part 1 failed because verification failed.
Currently running FRG83, 2.2.1.

I just got it too. System now says I have 2.2.1, FRG83D, but I can't remember what the previous FRG was. Sounds like a minor update? I'm trying to figure out what changes occurred.
Does anyone actually read the forums?
lol...
FRG83 was the thing you were running, FRG83D is the new version which updates a few things such as the market app and the recovery and email (not gmail) app and maybe other minor things...It's probably a preparation for Gingerbread
Any word if this breaks the non-unlocking of the bootloader root that worked for 2.2.1?

Smells of NDA.
Gingerbread isn't developed by just google. A large portion of the OHA are developing it together.

so i start using my xoom today, which is the wifi version, rooted on 3.2, and the box pops up and tells me there is another system update. this struck me as odd, because i never saw anything about another system update on xda or xoomforums or anywhere els. could this be an error? or is there really another update? and if there is an update, what are the new features?
thanks
Did you accept and install the update? If so, check your OS build number. The current version is HTJ85B.

If you are rooted on HC3.2, I'm not sure why you would get notification of the update, but that's the latest, and likely to be the last of the Honeycomb version.

I hope there's a 3.2.1 version to be honest - 1 because it's a cool number sequence! lol - and 2 because I want them to push the support non-us keyboard layouts to devices (which moto said would put in their 3.1 update), including support for dorvak layout

I had the same thing fist time I booted to 3.2. I suspect it's just the ota 3.2 which was already downloaded to your Xoom and it's got a bit confused because it's not installed that download. Anyway, I rejected the update and it's not popped back up since.

So I've heard reports about the OTA being released for 4.0.4 and I understand it's supposed to be a 2 week rollout schedule. This isn't a thread asking when I'll get it (I haven't).

I just had a pop up that said a system update was available so I clicked install and it went into my cwm recovery and said something about it wasn't signed correct and installation was aborted. Was that the update to 4.0.4?
Edit: by the way I'm rooted and went back to gingerbread last night because I was having problems with the room I was running.

Yeh if you're running CWM you're probably not going to be able to get the OTA, it relies on the stock recovery I believe.

I got the update just now. I was running a stock rooted rom and checking for updates like crazy and checking in like google was my untrusted girlfriend but no luck. Then i use one click stock to go completely back to stock and the update started instantly. Just remember to update to 2.3.7 first because stock is on 2.3.4 and reports showed error if you werent on 2.3.7.. its been since december i waited for this moment. custom roms were fun but stock 4.0.4 OtA just feels good to the soul.

I saw this posted earlier. I think the big question is does he release it and thus burn an exploit or does he wait for 4.3 in hopes that it is still there and thus provides a root option for 4.3 as well. I'm not sure which is my preference. The only thing I personally miss by not being rooted is the tethering, which I only use in emergency situations anyway, so its not crucial for me. However, it is nice to have freedom from the carrier release cycle if we get a way to flash roms without an unlocked bootloader.

Just proving the version.
I would rather that he wait and see if the exploit is still available in 4.3. There's a way to go back to the first build from this update, so if you really need root that badly, you can always just do that. Once SafeStrap is ready, we'll probably see a zip of the update that can be flashed, so I find little reason for him to burn this flaw right now.
