Ok so tis is my problem. the Wifi connects fine. i use it for 10 minutes...20 minutes..it works.. then suddenly.. it stops working?
I go to comm manager the Signal quality is full or 3/4 full (dependent on location). it stays connected... the tx rate is 54Mbps and the Rx Rate jumps between 1-54Mbps.. My network is not security protected but no one uses it except me and my computer.
Im using messeneger then it says " messenger trying to reconnect blah blah) then i go to opera and it stopped working too...but its still connected, the signal strength is still strong?
Whats going on?!
My router is a Netgear DG834GT.. I have put my xperia's mac address on the allowed list as well.. i just dont get it?
i have to disconnect and reconnect to get it working..then it lasts another 5 minutes and dies again? Sometimes when i reconnect it still doesnt work so i have to turn off wifi and turn it on 2 or 3 times?
You are not alone, my friend. That's exactly what happened to me, except mine is Belkin.
Someone here (sorry I can't remember) suggest turning off bluetooth solved the problem.
i would try upgrading the firmware of the router it solves many incompatability issues for many people
sometimes my linksys drops data connection so the wifi signal is just a pin
and only fix is to unplug the router for 10sec and replug it
seems to be common that wifi act up at least see people complain in many many forums for wifi able devices
bluetooth is not on at all... Also every other wifi device will connect just fine? why would it work then just stop?
I have no idear only knows that what i wrote fix it in many cases for many people
i have wifi on even in standby tweaked...did you guys tweak anything? like auto off or anything?
nop i just use wpa AES
but as i said i update my wifi router with the latests firmware when
ever linksys updated it and believe me they updated it often
is anyone facing this problem or faced it before then fixed it?
if it's not your router as Rudegar suggests (one way to test, try over a different wifi elsewhere) then I wonder if your wifi is powering down for some reason?
Hey guys...having the same problem. Firstly I had trouble connecting to Wifi with the Xperia...then I updated the router firmware...now I can connect to Wifi but it does nothing, I cannot surf the net, I cannot connect to Skype I cannot connect to Windows live, cannot check my mail, etc...
Any ideas? Bluetooth etc not on at all...
Hi, I've some problem with wifi connections. I own a lynksis wag54g2 wifi router. I can establish a connection, but after some times (it's not standard, it may vary), my device disconnect from the router and it's not able to reconnect. All that i can do is plug off my router (i take off the ac adapter) and when it's up again my phone can connect. it's very frustating, but i don't know what to do? i've tried setting something in wifi preferences' on my phone but nothing change. i've also flashed my firmware to the new one, hoping that it could fix that problem, but it didn't. someone could help me?
you can update the firmware to a newer one. this would fix your problem.

Hello.
I have a problem with WIFI on Galaxy 5 (i5500)(Europa) too. They have already changed my phone with new one, but the issue remains. So, for the second time now, I was able to connect my phone to my router for the first time, but after the first interruption or disconnection of WIFI I could not access to wifi anymore.
When I enable wifi in the phone starts ''connecting'' but then reports ''interrupted'' eventhough the signal is recognised as strong.
Firmwire version is the latest available. Router is encrypted with WPA2. Also I can access to router with my HTC Tattoo (Click).
Does anyone know the solution?
I have a decision to make(today), becouse If there is no solution to this I will change to another phone as I still can (Galaxy Spica).
Advise please.
Thanks a lot
What router do you have? have you tried with any other wifi network? i said that because my have this problem only with my router, and not for example with my girlfriend's one.
I found a little fix for my router, linksys wag54g2: open up the config page (192.168.1.1), go for wireless tab, select protection page and click on save settings. that reload the router and my phone is able to connect again.
Hi.
Thanks for your advice. There is some problem with router.. When I restart router the wifi on the phone works until swiched off or interruption becouse being out of range. When I try to connect to wifi again does not work unless I restart router again. ..catchy.. Interfering with mobile connection also makes the drop of wireless connection on my computer, so I need to restart router. I don't know the permanent solution. If anyone has any idea how repair this forever please let me know.
Best,
Thanks
Hi,
Here is my problem with my wifi with the galaxy 550.
For security reasons, my wifi network can't be detected (invisible). If i want to connect a new device by wifi, I must first set my wifi visible and then register my device.
Then I set my wifi as invisible again and the device can connect automaticaly to my network without "seeing" my wifi network.
Problem is that once i set my wifi as invisible again, my galaxy fail to connect because the network is unvisible.
Is there anyway to fix this ?
I have just read similar post on another thread and replied find it here
I ahvent installed anything, perhaps its to do with the handset if its locked to a particular carrier? just a guess and a question...
cheers

I have an answer! Hope it works for you.
My provider gave me really easy solution for wifi connection not connecting even though it was my own network with all the right info. It worked great the first time, then for some reason the phone locked in the "off" position. So I removed the battery to reboot (later learned the right way by pushing the volume button on the left and the power button at the same time)
Anyway, try this....
turn phone off - remove battery - remove sim card - wait a few minutes - reassemble - then the network should log on with no problem.....Good luck!

So yesterday I tried to update my nook color rooted cm7 (not sure which version, but was used when nightly 177 was highest) to CM7.1.0-11162011-nightly-encore, but the thing is, my wifi would connect for maybe 5 minutes before it disconnects.
Then I would have to go to wifi settings to reconnect or sometimes it reconnects by itself. On my old version of CM7, the wifi was flawless. It would never disconnect like it does now, so I am sure it is not router problem.
Now it just says "out of range" when disconnecting. I tried the method where I forget all my networks and then connect again, but it didnt work. I also checked my adhoc = 0 thing from the root.
Anyone know why it is like that? I rooted my sd card with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957 website.
since my wifi didnt work, i reformatted my sdhc card and set it up again, following the rules on the website including setting up wifi before installing gapps. Wifi still disconnects.
I have also tried using the update-cm-7.1.0-encore signed, which still doesnt solve the wifi problem.
Is this because the wifi goes into sleep mode even if the screen is on? Im pretty much on the wifi setting screen, and seeing the wifi go from connected -> disconnected -> scanning "loop". My wifi is set to sleep when screen is off, but it should still stay connected if my screen is on right? It just disconnects and reconnects constantly while I look at the wifi settings
Thank you for reading! please help..
Same issue. Wifi keeps disconnecting after about 5 minutes.
Have you tried deleting all of your old wifi spots?
Ok I fixed my problem by limiting my router to 802.11 g. Suddenly no more drops.
Yea I did the "forget" all wifi networks and it still disconnects.
Would it still be my router problem if the wifi stayed connected on my earlier version? The one before I upgraded to cm7.1.0.
Hmm. I had that issue until going into advanced wifi settings and changing the Wi-Fi sleep policy to never. Will keep monitoring.
Where did you find the advanced wi-fi settings? I go to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-Fi- Settings, but my choices are: turn on Wi-Fi, Network notification, and add Wi-Fi Network.
Also, I'm using [CM7.2-RC0] MiRaGe - KANG build of CyanogenMod...I don't know if that would make a difference?
I assume you already figured out since you posted on the other thread.
My S4 keeps reconnecting to my wifi for some reason. I get the toast notification saying "Connected to <SSID>" that will sometimes pop up every 5-30 seconds, but it never goes more than 30 minutes without doing it. My router is an Asus RT-AC66U. I've tried forcing 2.4Ghz only, 5Ghz only, changing the preamble (short, long, auto), changing the channel (manually specifying each channel, and also tried auto), and even manually assigning an IP address on the phone. None of these things help.
I have "check for internet service" under the advanced wifi options disabled, and also have it set to keep wifi on during sleep.
The phone shows Very Good signal quality. Using wifi analyzer shows a signal strength of between -45 to -68 db, depending on what room I'm in, so that's definitely not the issue. It even does it sitting in the same room as the router. No other devices have an issue, including my roommate's S3.
I can fix it by turning off wifi power save mode (*#0011#), but then my phone heats up quite a bit whenever I'm using it, and my battery drains at 10%/hour even when I'm not connected to wifi. So that's not really a solution.
Is there any other fix for this? It's a bit ridiculous. I'll load a webpage and it'll interrupt halfway through when it re-connects to wifi. Since it keeps reconnecting to wifi, it causes all the phone's connections to be re-initiated, and also seems to trigger Google Services to update the phone's location. This results in Google Services (NetworkLocationLocator) holding a wakelock for 1/3 of the time.
So it seems the problem was IPv6, specifically IPv6 that autoconfigures. All the wifi networks I typically use are dual stack IPv4/IPv6. What I'm guessing happens is that the phone doesn't wake up for some of the IPv6 broadcasts, and then the phone reconnects to fix this once it realizes it's out of sync. Turning off power save mode means it gets all these packets and doesn't have to reconnect.
So I fixed it by having Tasker disable IPv6 on wifi whenever it connects to a wifi network (it's re-enabled if you disable wifi or reboot). Run this as root:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/wlan0/disable_ipv6
I wonder if this is just a bug in the chipset, or if it's a driver issue that can be fixed in a later update.
I had the exact same issue with mine (same router) and solved it by disabling WMM APSD in the router settings. Wireless>professional tab>5GHz drop down box>Enable WMM APSD>Disable.
A guy in the other GS4 Q&A forum gave me this solution and I haven't had an issue with it since.
I have this same issue... so when my Wi-Fi is dropping like that, I disable the Wi-Fi power save mode by dialing *#0011# then pushing the menu button and selecting the Wi-Fi option from the pop-up, the psm button is there. Fixes it every time, doesn't stick thru a reboot tho.

Hello, I'm having the same problem but I'm new to Tasker and don't know where to put that command. Would you mind showing me how to implement it please? Thanks.
Edit: Nevermind, I think I figured it out.
S4 will not store setwork
I'm running SACS Custom 7.1 with Faux kernal, and since I update to 7.1 from v7, my phone doesn't save any wifi profiles I connect to. Another thing I've noticed is no image shows up when recieving a call, so I have no idea who is calling. I got a 3rd party caller id from the market to fix that, but still a strange issue.
I am experianced with phones, but haven't posed enough here to post in SACs page, so any ideas would be helpful.
I tried looking at settings from 3minit or XPOSED, but nothing has changed since V7, so I'm wondering where to look.
The wifi profile shows up in data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf, but only the one I am connected to at the time. If i disconnect and reconnect I need to re-enter the password.
Not important but annoying.
Thanks for your help in advance, you guys are awesome!

Wifi issue is faux kernel flash a different kernel. A module from xpose is the culprit sorry I forgot which one was it. To solve all your problems just do a clean install of v7.1 and when doing that make sure you click stock kernel or flash a preferred kernel. I dont use xpose so I dont have that problem so its your choice if you want to use it just read like 10 pages from the thread to find your answer.

I have to do this same thing and it works for me perfectly. A little bit of a hassle after reboots, but it works. I sent this to Samsung and they've opened a ticket on it (reportedly) to be addressed as they've had a lot of complaints about WiFi areas with multiple Access Points.
For the last week or two I have been unable to connect my phone to wifi networks.
At first the problem would be that I was getting disconnected from any wifi network I joined, now I can't connect at all.
The wifi networks page sometimes (not always) does not detect a strong network even if I am standing a few feet away and the phone has previously connected and other APs are connected and working like my pc
If I try to connect then I get the "Connecting" status followed by "Saved, secured"
I have searched the internet looking for a fix to this and tried wiping the cache partition, forgetting the network, airplane mode toggling on and off, apps that wipe the known network list and some others including lastly a factory reset on the phone but nothing seems to remedy the issue.
From the wifi router I have tried using an unencrypted (open) connection
Now I think I may also be having problems with the bluetooth connecting in the car but I haven't had a chance to really investigate that one yet and it may or may not be related to the last factory reset.
My phone is not rooted.
Build no. LRX21T.G870AUCU2B0F3

Can anyone offer any assistance to my current issue ?
Alan
I have just confirmed that the Bluetooth in my car is not detecting my phone when it scans (the phone bt is switch on and the visible box being checked) so that's both radios with similar issues.

Im having same issue with wifi... sm-g900r4
I just stumbled on a clue, while using an app called 'wifi cleaner' there is a feature allowing you connect to wifi networks within the app. I type in the password, authenticating is shown on the screen followed by "incorrect password".
I know the password to be correct..
Mmm

I was wondering if you ever got this issue fixed?
I thought I had but the problem comes back in a different way.
Sometimes wifi connects but only connects at 5 mbps.
Now wifi will not turn on at all. ( radio button is greyed in settings)
I did find a thread on xda where some Motorola users were having the wifi off issue and it was due to a missing system file which could be replaced on a rooted device. However I don't have root on my s5 g870a and it's not likely I can get it.
