i already know how to make swype the default keyboard for texts and whatnot... but for e-mails and web browsing.. i actually prefer to use the full qwerty keyboard.. i understand that switching between them is NOT that difficult of a task... but regardless.. its my phone and i will have it the way I want to have it...
now my question is.... is there a tweak to make the full qwerty keyboard automatically pop up whenever the e-mail tab is opened or opera or web browsing?>? yet when i'm texting.. to have it always defaulted on swype?? that would be supurb... any responses would be great.. and a solution would be even better... thanks/.

I installed the Touch Keyboard-Keypad and now when I slide out the full keyboard, it is still using t9. I changed the keyboard on the bottom of the screen to "keyboard" but it still says t9 at the top of the screen and my full keyboard doesn't function correctly. I'm sure there is something dumb that I am missing, anyone out there have the same problem, or a solution perhaps? Thanks!
you know what i think there are different versions of this software ill see if i can get you a copy of the one i use on my titan. send me a pm to remind me. im not near a pc now.
Hey elgreek84, I'm having the same problem along with being unable to pull from the contact list when manually adding a To: recipient. Be nice to have this working as I really like the Touch Keyboard-Keypad.
i just installed the Touch keyboard-keypad today and when i slide out my keyboard it still says xt9 or whatever at the top but i don't seem to have any problems. i guess i got the "later" version.
one thing that's annoying to me is when i pull up the Touch keyboard i can't see what i'm typing. i use Threaded SMS and when i hit New i can see what i'm typing, but if i'm just responding to a txt i can't see if what i'm typing is messing up or if it's right.
Heres the one elgreek84 hooked me up with. I haven't had a chance to test it, but he says you shouldn't have the t9 problem with it. Good luck.
thanks guys..this is what i needed...awesome...
I can't seem to get this to run (it installs) on my XV6800.
always qwerty
ok that's great but I'd like to have the qwerty keyboard all the time, because in certain apps shows the qw er... and in others the full keyboard!! Any ideas???
This is working for me, but it seems that with it enabled, it seems to disable AutoCorrect/Suggestive text... Autocorrect is checked in input options, but it just doesn't work...
In general, I wouldn't mind since the xT9 is fairly intuitive, but when I'm typing with the slide-out, I rely on it to correct the words i frequently mess up, and moreso for conjunctions (dont=don't, etc). It's too much effort to actually hit the apostrophe. So - is there any way to make xT9 NOT active when the slide is out? Or even to disable xT9 all together? I have unchecked all the boxes in the xT9 options, but it still shows xT9 at the top, and autocorrect is still broken.
Well, is not that I like T9, honestly
but someone asked in another forum
if is there a virtual num keyboard with T9
to call and text messages with one hand
and without sliding the keyboard out.
.
Sure, install the Touch HD keyboards - nice finger-friendly phone keypad with T9 on offer - I tend to use it for texting shorter messages (or one-handed). They're available here.
the vga version of phonepad also works flawless
If you don't like T9, you can try a better onscreen qwerty keyboard than the one supplied with WM. I installed resco keyboard and for quick texting like a sms I never open the keyboard any more, it lets you type with one hand and sufficient accuracy.

where can i find this??
Do you use deafult keyboard, better keyboard, swype keyboard, smart keyboard ?
what ?
thanks
Default. i wish there was a keyboard like fingerkeyboard for WM - fully customisable.
I don't actually like any keyboard for this phone but about the best one is Slide Keyboard and its free. The buttons are much larger than the standard and its easy to work out.
I'm hating default keyboard because i keep hitting settings button, plus predictive words won't work in all forms (like here, i can't get words predictions and i can't understand why)
I'll try slide keyboard
Thanks
EDIT: unfortunately the italian dictionary for slide keyboard is not "available" on the tattoo market !
I wrote to the dev
Phone Keypad,
Compact QWERTY,
Full QWERTY, or
Swype?
Swype took me awhile to get used to, but it seems to be handy when i can't pay attention to the keyboard fully (driving and when watching something else)
Full keyboard is ok, but
I really prefer Phone Keypad.
I guess too many years spent with t9...
trying to switch to swype fully, though.
i love the full qwerty.
SWYPE! All the way.
Swype in landscape. Oh yes!
Swype
I'm slow at all of them! Used phone keypad forever, then swype on landscape, figured easier because bigger, not! Changed to small qwerty, fantastic! just get close to letter, poof, word appears!! love it!!
Full QWERTY since I mainly web browse. Swype isn't smart enough to know I don't want spaces in my website urls.. Also I don't want it to suggest correct spellings for urls..
As others have mentioned for web browsing, standard keyboard is great but othwerwise Swype is consistent and works well, Touchpal also very reliable and quite fast once you get the hang of it.
Tried Slideit, thought Swype better esp on our 4.3 in screens.
swype is great on portrait mode because our screens are so big, I actually never use swype in landscape
swype is impossible in landscape
Sogou, or full qwerty sometimes touchpal...
std qwerty suffice but I would love to have grafiti2 or block recognizer (if possible)
SlideIT all the way, as well in portrait as in landscape mode.
I only found out about swype last week and already my typing speed has quadrupled! not hard as I was pretty slow to begin with.. but its great to be able to type now at a normal speed on my phone ... just one thing... is there a fast way to get icons like exclamation mark or question mark without having to switch to the symbol keyboard...like holding down the key for a few seconds like on the standard HD2 keyboard?
hi
hi whats the swype kepboard? i have big probs typing im constantly doubling up the buttons or typing the wrong one.

There are a few fast shortcuts, check out vid here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l64Twt1qlVg&feature=related
its meant for the omnia but on the HD2, same thing. For something like an exclamation mark, just press the Z key and drag down to the spacebar then release.
Also holding they key is supposed to work but i find this feature hit and miss, it doesnt always work but not sure why.

I liked the one where you could write anywhere. I prefer to not have the keyboard visuals taking up screen space
SWYPE! I love Swype. I've always been a hardware-qwerty guy. I tried the Swype beta on my Droid and loved it. I was on the fence about switching to the HD2, purely because of the lack of a keyboard...until I heard it had Swype. Then it was a done deal.
However, Swype is not great for web browsing and other things that require exact character combos that may not be words, without spaces and all that. I switch to full QWERTY for that.
Swype baby.

Block Recognizer:
HKCR\CLSID\{42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}\IsSIPInputMethod\Default = 1
HKLM\Software\HTC\ezsip\SIPMenuEnableMSSIP\Default = 1
Lately I have been using Touchpal.
Starting to get the hang of it and think it will be a keeper.
Hi All,
I am trying to figure out if this is a bug on my phone or working as designed. When I type an email in gmail, or the HTC mail app or an SMS in native or handcent I always get the HTC keyboard which predicatively corrects my text entry as i type.
When I use the built in browser to browse the web I do not get the same predictive correction and it accepts whatever key my finger touches. This also happens in the URL bar, Google search page, any web page, or the box that appears when you press the search button in the bottom right.
Is this working as designed? how can i get it to correct my entry when i am typing something into google to do a search?
Thanks
this is the normal behavior,
If you want prediction and correction in search and browser you could give the HTC_IME mod by Jonasl a try.
It's the stock htc keyboard with some really cool mods like gestures ,prediction wherever you like and MUCH more.
I use it myself and I would recommend it. It even fixes quite some bugs from the HTC stock keyboard.
Check:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624416
BTW: You need the low res version for the HTC Legend.
Ok, Good to know it is the stock behavior and not just me. I must say I find it a little strange though as the prediction is a great part of HTC SenseUI and to not include it in the browser is odd.
I have installed the mod as suggested. It is just what I was looking for. Thanks.
