Ok, I've seen other people have this problem but still haven't found a solution.
I have a VOIP phone line that emails me a .WAV file and when I try to open those .WAV attachments, I get an error that says "The attachment is of a file type that could be unsafe. Messaging will not open this attachment"
Is there away for me to edit the registry and make .WAV files considered safe? Any other ideas?

Can the Universal Play mp3 or wma files as ringtones thru the standard contacts application? I see where to assign ringtone but my wma tones are not shown. I placed them in a folder in the mydocuments folder in the internal memory. Do they need to go into a different folder? Or do I have to use a third party application?
Also, in WM5 I dont see a Windows folder when I select Explore thru active synch. In WM2003 inside of the Windows folder I had a Favorites folder. I am looking for this folder to copy and paste a few links I saved on my PC from my Jam.
Thank you for your help!

RESOLVED
Sorry, I figured it out. Ill leave the post just in case someone else runs into this problem. I had my file settings to not show hidden files. Changing that to show all files I now have the Windows folder. The ringtones go into the windows\rings folder and under windows there is the folder for favorites.

If you have MP3 or WMV files go to the option of the file u we be able to set that file as ring tone... Windows automatically copy that file in to Ring folder and shows u in ring tone list for u from Phone.
Hi there!
I got a question:
id like to change the sound when i recieve a sms with a custom one on my o2 xda neo but when i copy a wav file to the my documents directory the file only appears in the ringtone menue for incoming calls. so my plan was to replace one of the default sound files in the windows dir wich is shown in the menue for incoming sms sound eg alarm1.wav. the problem is that those files are write protected. is the any way to get write acces to this directory? or is there an other way to change the sound for an incoming sms to a custom sound file?
1. You can use Total Commander to overwrite the write access. It works for most of the write protected files. Not sure about the WAV.
2. You can just copy your WAV into the \Windows directory. The \Windows is not write protected. Your WAV file should shown in your SMS noti sound after you copied it into \Windows
thank you!!! your second advice worked!
Hi im going to start uploadin text message's tones on my site http://www.wokerz.co.uk it's not up yet tho.
but so i can get a nice list of files your welcome to help me, or i can help you.
1. just add [email protected] 2 msn messanger aKa WLM
2. find your file ie: .mp3 .wav any pic's or apps (please .zip app's before you send) and send them over msn
3. fileshare is a bot and will automatically accept your file.
If your send a .mp3 and wanted it converted to .wav please say that in the im screen.
all files will be scaned for virus, if clean it will then be uploaded to wokerz.co.uk, any one found sending virus will be blocked on msn.
thanks
I've got a strange problem here. Just now, after I backed up the system with resco backup, played around with the system txt size. I noticed that my stock ringtone, "windows mobile" has been changed to "dome" automatically. I took a look at the ringtone settings and noticed that "windows mobile" was displayed as "windows mobile.wma" along with a few other stock ringtone files with exact same symptom. When I clicked the play button, a window popped out saying the file was not available or corrputed. On the other hand, the rest of the stock ringtones which still seems normal (i.e. "dome" is good to be set as ringtone, and it shows as "dome" instead of "dome.wma")
However, when I traced back all the ringtone files to Windows folder, and use WMP to play them, every single file is good to play, not corrupted at all.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is? TIA
PS: I notices that there was a space added (and I can't delete it) after the file name for those "corrupted" tones. For example, Ring-Vison .wma compared with a normal ringtone: Ring-waterfall.wma. I use Totalcommand to access the file but cannot rename it or change the "read only" property.
ok try this.
1) If when you view the file properties in total commander you see a (gryed out) check in "In rom" then
1. Copie the file right in your windows folder
2.you should then be able to remove the read only flag and rename it.
Or if you don't see a grey out check in "In rom"
just try to remove the read only flag and rename. hope this helps you.
i had this same issue with .brn files i was playing around with and it sounds like the same thing. somehow the files where removed from your device so it is now using the files right from the rom...it might not be the case but see what happens.
I am now using Touch Diamond receiving emails everyday and kinda interested in Magic. But would like to know if Magic can open .eml, .msg, .rar, .zip, .ppt, .csv, .tif, .jpg, .gif files? They are often attachments in my emails.
Thanks to anyone who can answer my query!

I know it can open tif, jpg, gif by default. U can download a program from the market that opens zip files. Dunno about the rest, but the Android Market is so full of programs so i would think theres an app for any kind of extension.
Is there any way to open .msg files in Android?
