Oh and I see this only mentions the sprint hero, I wonder what will happen to the gsm hero?

New sub-forum for CDMA Hero

Since Sprint was so wise to keep the same name, I'm predicting very soon that this forum is going to get very messy. Would a moderator care to create a separate sub-forum to bypass the problem?
bump, the phone is out now going to need subforum real soon
Wouldnt eveything that gets done to the EU Version of the Hero work on the Sprint Hero. Or at least most of it as it runs a newer version supporting cdma. not necessaly 1.6
I second the request for a CDMA subforum. Between rooting discussions and custom cooked roms, we NEED a subforum.

In short, no.
+1 on this
agreed.
Yes, please make a sub forum! Just got my hero yesterday and I'm loving it (came from a tp2.) I would love to read on all the cool tweaks for this device.
agreed. lets get this thing moving.
Yeah let's do this. Maybe some of the awesome techies here at xda-dev can solve the EvDo issue that a bunch of us Sprint Hero users are having.
yea we need the cdma subforum..came from a tp...im a windows guy, but i think i like android better now
I agree. Just picked p the Sprint HTC Hero, looking to see how i can hack into this bad boy!
Yep lets get one going. I was all ready to root this bad boy and realized that root is diff on the Sprint from the EU version!
Agreed..
We definitely need a sub-forum....I'm lovin my hero!
Picked up my hero today from the Sprint store. I'm coming from the pre and thus far I'm liking the hero much better. Hopefully we will see some interest here in the CDMA version so we can enjoy some of the hacking goodness.
bump bump bump. just switched from the touch pro. lovin my hero but im gonna need hacks and cracks and ROMs to keep me happy and entertained..
please!! cdma hero sub-forum please!!
Bumpity Bump for my new Sprint Hero as well. Bring it on!
Thanks to the mods!

I've read it's a real-time update or what coverage you're in, or had something to do with the PRI and/or PRL version. I haven't been in a rev A area yet so Idk.
Edit: http://community.sprint.com/baw/com...es/hero/blog/2009/10/12/revo-reva-which-is-it
Just wanted to add my 2 cents that we need a sub-forum for cdma

Actually, the Rev A issue isn't one at all, rather it's a "display" issue that HTC needs to fix.
Basically, if you're in a Rev A area, you're getting Rev A speeds, it just isn't displaying it.

Stock 2.2 eventually?

I know Froyo was just recently announced, and the incredible has yet to be rooted, but assuming that it eventually does get rooted, is it unreasonable to assume there will be a way to get a stock 2.2 ROM onto a rooted incredible?
I just read over on engadget that "most" HTC devices will get Froyo by the end of the year, and being a sense-based device, I would assume it would be receiving a Sense-ified 2.2. Thanks for all the help.

Just a few threads down this is being discussed. It looks like Evo, Droid, Incredible will be getting it in June. This is not a huge leap like it was going from 1.6 to 2.1. It shouldn't take too long for this to be rolled to all.

The Droid Incredible and the Droid are two different phones by two different manufacturers.
For our phones there's no specific information, just that Droid Incredible and other flagship phones are a priority.
I would guess that if the EVO gets it, we are too, considering they're both CDMA, SenseUI, and are the flagship android phones for the carrier they're on. it wouldn't make sense not to.
Yes yes, as I pointed out in that thread. I was piggy backing off of your hope and optimism. My bad.

I never implied we were getting it in June. All I ever said was that the N1 and Droid were getting it in June, because they're both stock Android.
The only way we're getting it in June is if we manage to root by then and can install a port.
Even if we don't, we'll be among the first SenseUI phones to get it. When exactly that is depends on a lot of things, how different the API for 2.2 is, how long it takes HTC to produce Sense for 2.2, how long carrier testing takes, whether there's an early leak, etc
Well I can tell you this much, jit and sense do not play nice together, so it may be awhile for HTC to get all the bugs worked out.
Its supposed to be way faster than even 2.1 so on our device it should be awesome. I just wish (though I doubt HTC will do it) they would give us the option to turn off Sense UI. Its nice but it really should be optional. That would make 2.2 complete for me without rooting. Otherwise this phone will never be complete for me until rooted.

Sorry if this question has been asked in any of the other threads involving Froyo - but are there any specific reasons why SenseUI and JIT don't work well together? Is this based on experiences with custom ROMs for other devices using JIT and SenseUI or is this something that's a bit more officially recognized?

This is based off of others using a incomplete version of JIT from eclair and attempting to use it on eclair.
as soon as my incredible has root with custom recovery i will be releasing a 2.2 custom froyo rom based on stock 2.2 as well as porting any 2.2 sense leaks that are released. all we need is root

Mytouch 3g getting 2.2 froyo is this real

myTouch 3G Series, Getting Froyo (Android 2.2)
08 June 2010 by David Junior
Good news for all you myTouch 3G owners. You’re getting Android 2.2!!! This has recently been confirmed by T-Mobile that Froyo will be coming soon. There is currently no word on if the G1 will receive this update as well.
Judging from the picture above I would say that every version of the myTouch 3G is getting some Froyo love. So whether you have a version 1.2, Fender or the original, you can expect to get the update to 2.2 soon. This update not only includes all the goodies that Froyo has to offer, there will be a few extra incentives. The genius button will make its way to every myTouch as well as full exchange support and the new Faves gallery. These features are already included in the new myTouch Slide. I guess the anticipation can now begin. Congratulations my Touch owners you’re now the third phone to officially have 2.2 on the way.

Noob question, but doesn't this mean that the 2.2 release for the MT3G will be relatively easily ported to the G1?
yes, exactly. within hours/days this port will be made rooted, and available for g1 as well
wow, cant wait for froyo run on my dreams....
good, but ... they don't speak about Flash as a main feature, officially it will not be supported... so still it will need some hacking
I call bull. They have been talking about updating forever now. If the ORIGIONAL mytouch does get official 2.2 then I will be VERY shocked. Im just glad I rooted and have 2.1 or else I would still be stuck on 1.6.

Its due to the 32B being the android dev phone 2 (google ION) and it has enough space to run 2.2
Google were showing 2.2 running on the ION at the I/O convention
Yeah but...
They also had G1's running 2.2 at Google I/O and the pretty much have come out and said that the G1 isn't officially getting 2.2. I hope it is true, but I have serious doubts.

G1 wont, its possible as the ION 32b and g1 are identical. It's just a space issue, and the way the community gets around this is with a Dangel SPL, cant see t-mobile/google pushing out the danger SPL OTA.
uhh?

I know that the major issue is space on the phone, I just know they also had 2.2 on both G1's and ION's at Google I/O, but that doesn't necessarily mean either phone is getting it esp since they have all but said that the G1 isn't getting 2.2. I hope that ION/MT3G/Magic get 2.2 because it will make it just that much easier to port over to the G1. Until I see either Google/Tmobile/HTC announce that the MT3G is getting it, I have my doubts about it. In reality though most people on this forum will probably have 2.2 on both the G1 and MT3G because of the wonderful devs we have on here. Thanks guys!

Don't think its bull. I was in a T-mobile store this past Satuday, which was before androidspin or tmo news even announced the MyTouch was receiving 2.2. I spoke to a rep there who told me they had just received emails from T-mobile stating that 2.2 was being released soon for the MyTouch.
yeah I'm thinkin' if the device has a google logo on the back it might get a 2.2 update sooner than others.
This should've been in general. :| Please READ the rules before posting such topics as this has little bit to do with development.

Why would you think that? 2.2 Will be released to htc's newest phones as well as motorola's. I won't believe a dream OTA release until I see it we have been promised something like this before, if there is only one for the magic chance's are we are just going to dump that one and put it on our G1's.

Not to drag this any further, but i said "sooner than others", but then again, I am probably wrong. Though the driod as well will probably get a 2.2 update soon(has google logo on it).. I wasn't refering to new android devices too, stats show new android versions dwarf the last version fast..especially as stock ROMS.

Black Legend vs Silver

What are the differences between the new legend and the old, silver one?
If the black one will be shipped with 2.2 Froyo, does it means that the silver one will receive the update soon?
FroYo is coming to the standard Legend.
Only difference from what we've been told thus far is the black ali shell.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.
Honestly I don't see FroYo coming to the HTC Legend, and even if it was then I can you imagine how long we'd have to wait for Gingerbread.
If it's done on the black which for all purposes has been shown as nothing more than a painted Legend with Froyo installed stock. So that show's they've already done the work of making it work so all they need to do is release it...unless there is something substaintially different in the versions.
It is cooler. Nuff said. If it is released with Froyo our Legends will get it too.

Ah, but Mark Moons has confirmed on Twitter that they are working on FroYo for the Legend, stating that we must be patient - there's only one reason existing Legend owners need to be patient
Besides, assumption is the mother of all f-up's, which I am good at
Even if the Black Legend got FroYo and there was no OTA, by hook or by crook we'd get it eventually
i didnt really think there was much of a difference :/ guess i missed something lol

Gingerbread'll never happen. Not a chance. HTC have just released 2 new, more powerful, phones. Those will get Gingerbread. The Desire might, if the N1 does. The Legend? Nah.
They have also just releases 2 near identical phones to the Legend spec.
The HTC Aria and the HTC Gratia both seemingly MSM7227 based, the same as the Legend.
