Is it possible to turn off mobile networking (for example when roaming) like on the desire? I do not find a menu point for it.
If you want to stop roaming go to settings>wireless and network>mobile networks and you can turn off roaming from there.
If you just want to disable all wireless connections just put the phone in flight mode which is in wireless and networks too.

It gets really annoying when I was using WIFI, and suddenly the signal is too weak and it automatically connects to 3G/HSDPA data connection. I am currently not on a plan with internet usage and it charges me 20cents per KB!!
Another question - when I'm using WIFI to login MSN, why does it connects to 3G data connection whenever I press the power button and go to sleep mode
e.g. when I turn it back on 3G data connection is on...
so does it use 3G to maintain my MSN connection???
delete the internet settings
when the wifi is weak it will auto connect to 3G.
install NoData to disable 3G.

Settings> Connections
Under "Advance Tab" go to "Select Networks"
Under Network Management
The first option "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using: "My ISP" <-- set as this
Take note this will disabled incoming/out going 3G calls. Just alter the settings around when need.
NoData ftw as posted earlier

It doesn't work now if you've upgraded your rom. I think nodata is the only choice left.
Phone - Settings - "Band" (not sure of this word as I have it in french) - select GSM instead of Auto and it will only connect to Edge, not to 3G.
I've got my new phone today and it's awesome!!
For some reason, it's only connecting on GPRS (a "G" in the bar at the top) and I can't find the setting to tell it to seach for 3G/HSDPA networks!
On my old phone, I manually set it to only use GPRS, so this maybe why as the setting is remembered on the simcard (?).
There is an option to switch on and off 3g data access under Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Use only 2g Networks
hello to everyone. my problem is this.
when i try to toggle off my wifi connection, 3g internet toggles on automatically without me asking to do so.
is there a setting i'm missing ? any help will be welcomed...
i'm running 2.2 stock on my htc legend
u will find that if u have data enabled in you Mobile Network Settings, once u are out of range of a wireless network or u switch your wifi off your mobile network will automaticly come on, if u dont want it to come on go to MENU/SETTINGS/WIRELESS & NETWORK SETTINGS/MOBILE NETWORKS and untic DATA ENABLED. that way u will have no internet access while u r out of wireless network range
but until now, mobile network stayed closed regardless of ticking or unticking the "data enabled" option. and i could choose weather i wanted to connect via wifi or the phone's data plan.. still confused...
After a swap of network carrier, the option "mobile network" simply disappeared from my meny (inside "settings -> wireless and network -> mobile networks"). My network carrier can't understand what's going on, and downloading new access points does not work either.
Does anyone have an idea on how I can turn on mobile network on my defy+? i take it it would start working again, if only I had the option to turn it on
Small update: i got myself a widget for turning mobile network on and off, but still no mobile network.
Hi, I use Blade 3 Pro. When I turn off Data on my phone, after a few hours, when I turn it on I can't connect to internet. What I have to do? Then I must go to Settings and check/uncheck (depends of previous state) 'Use only 2G networks'. Internet immediately starts to work? What's going on?
Check something -> settings > more... > mobile networks > preferred network type ... and what is selected ?

In Mobile network setting s I only have:
1) Data Enabled
2) Data Roaming
3) Enable Always-on mobile data
4) Access Point Names
5) Use only 2G networks
6) Network operators
I thing the problem is - not enouth signal strength of 3G network and when you change the network type to 2G you don't have that problem cuz the signal is better.. but this is just a guess i thing...

Good hint, but see this. Yesterday I checked Use only 2G networks, Internet worked perfectly whole day. I woke up tomorrow, tried to connect it fails. I went to Settings UNCHECK Use only 2G networks, internet started normally. Changing settings from previous state makes my internet works.
