How to modify system files with the X10 rooted?? - XPERIA X10 General

Now I have the X10 root, now I wonder if you can copy system applications, for example with the HTC Magic rooted from the PC and the SDK tools, I wrote the instruction:
adb remount
adb push-res.apk framework / system / framework / framework-res.apk
And then replacing that file, but with the X10 will not let me copy, the first thing the adb remount not working, and I have the tools of the Xperia SDK X10.
I have to do it otherwise?
Thanks

1) You need to root your Arc
2) You can extract the sqlite3 from the Superoneclick, and then copy the sqlite3 to /system/bin and then add the execute permission to the sqlite3
3) you can use adb or Terminal to type the command "like: better terminal"
I applied the mod on my X10 and Arc is work too
PS: I use better terminal to type the command
Rootet Arc
Won't work on rootet arc with bin4ry Image because of missing sqlite in xbin folder

It doesn't require the xbin folder
extract the sqlite3 from the SuperOneClick and then push the sqlite3 to the system/bin and then add the X "Execute" permission to the sqlite3
It should be work, I also haven't xbin folder
OK, I'm making far too many uneducated guesses at this point. does anyone fancy typing a quick 'noob friendly' step-by-step instruction list saying exactly what to push where with what and how (oh I say, missus!)?
Please don't mock my stupidity; I won't understand it and you'll just look arrogant
Thanks!

[Q] Is it possible to push apps via adb to an encrypted xoom?

the subject says it all. I've been trying to push apps to my encrypted xoom all afternoon without any luck...
I'll go ahead and admit upfront that I am a noob when it comes to using the sdk... so that could also be a major factor.
adb install (insert exact location+ filename.apk for the app you want to install)
I just tested it out
for example
adb install C:/abc.apk
What command are you using? What error message are you getting? Did you do a adb remount to make sure that the /system/app path is writable?
You can always do an adb install [package name].apk as well.

I just tried to execute adb remount (I had not until you mentioned it), but I get a "remount failed: operation not permitted".
Code:
Hannibal:platform-tools dmoore$ ./adb install /Users/dmoore/Documents/android-sdk/platform-tools/AsusReader.apk
1259 KB/s (7747001 bytes in 6.007s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/AsusReader.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_DEXOPT]
Additional information: I am on a MacBook Pro using the latest version of the SDK (downloaded it yesterday).
try typing "adb devices" if it does not list your xoom try installing or re-installing the motorola usb drivers
http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-...tware_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers
just noticed the macbook part
http://www.samsung-tablets.com/motorola-xoom-usb-driver-for-pc-and-mac-download.html/
Ok... back to me being a complete when it comes to the SDK (and the Xoom in particular)...
My Xoom is completely stock... it has not been rooted or otherwise modified.
With that being said, is there some trick to getting the file system to mount as r/w? Do I need to reboot in to recovery before adb remount will work?

I've already installed the Android File Transfer app... it only allows me to browse the SD card - not the root fs... unless there's something I'm missing...

you dont have to be in recovery (recovery wont do any good unless you install clockwork recovery) for adb remount to work but if your not rooted you cant push files into the system folder thats the whole point of rooting is to unlock the system files also if your pushing it into /system/app the rom is odexed so you will need the apk plus the odex file

I have the odex file, so i'm not terribly worried about that.
My major question would be this though... Do I need to go full blown root, or can I just unlock the device?

You can push it to your phone with adb.
Code:
adb remount
adb push your.apk /system/app/
adb shell chmod 0644 /system/app/your.apk
adb remount
Sometimes when running 'adb remount' for the secont time (to remount /system back as read-only) it fails for me but doesn't give any error message. So if you want to make sure your /system gets mounted back as a read-only, you can run
Code:
adb shell mount -o remount,rw /system
This tutorial didn't work for me.I get no message on line "adb shell chmod 0644 /system/app/your.apk", but the rest seems work ok.
It's not supposed to output anything.Did the app work ok?
Sent from my Blade using XDA App
I didn't succeed to install the application. This tutorial don't work for me.

Was the file copied to your device? It could be the app's not compatible with gingerbread? Anyway, there are lots of task managers in the market, you could try a few and pick you new favourite. You could also try 'adb install your.apk' and see if that works. Other than that, I'm out of ideas.
The file was copied in my device, but nothing happend on reboot.I'm sure that TaskManager works on Gingerbread.I'll try to find another Task Manager.Thank you!
I managed to install it. So i think the problem was because i tried with a TasManager.apk extracted from a 2.1 stock version. Today, i tried with a 2.2 version extracted from 2.2 Swedish Spring (TaskManager.apk).
You can use the tutorial below or try this:
1.Download and install Root Explorer on your phone.
2.Put TaskManager.apk on sd card.
3.Open Root Explorer and navigate to sd-card (where did you put TaskManager.apk).Long-press TaskManager.apk and choose move.
4.Navigate to system/app.
5.Mount R/W.
6.Paste it.
7.Long-press TaskManger and choose Permissions ( Change permissions to match all other apps in this folder (rw-r–r–) - first four checkboxes)
8.Mount R/O.
9.Reboot.
I think that' all...

[MOD] [I8200N] deodexed stock rom apps

DEODEXED APPS
Here is the stock app and framework files from new firmware I8200NXXUAOA1 for Samsung Galaxy VE (I8200N).It have all apps so and the bloatware. After install you can delete any bloatware you want.Maybe it is safe for all versions!!!
What is Odex and Deodex ROM
What is an ODEX file?
In Android file system, applications come in packages with the extension .apk.
These application packages, or APKs contain certain .odex files whose supposed function is to save space.
These ‘odex’ files are actually collections of parts of an application that are optimized before booting.
Doing so speeds up the boot process, as it preloads part of an application.
On the other hand, it also makes hacking those applications difficult because a part of the coding has already been extracted to another location before execution.
What is an DEODEX file?
Deodexing is basically repackaging of these APKs in a certain way, such that they are reassembled into classes.dex files.
By doing that, all pieces of an application package are put together back in one place, thus eliminating the worry of a modified APK conflicting with some separate odexed parts.
So, Deodexed ROMs (or APKs) have all their application packages put back together in one place,
allowing for easy modification such as theming. Since no pieces of code are coming from any external location,
custom ROMs or APKs are always deodexed to ensure integrity.
all apps are full working and not yet any bugs

Is it possible to unroot the deodexed stock rom?

Editor in ADB on Nvidia Shield TV?

Hi there,
I'm using a Nvidia Shield TV Pro - unrooted due to the DRM stuff like Dolby Vision.
Now I want to reconfigure Kodi from Scratch. In my current installation there are a lot packages which aren't updatable anymore.
For that reason I was using Termux to copy the Kodi userdata. That worked until one year ago. With some updates of Android this isn't possible anymore. That's very sad, because Termux is fully configured with every tool I need.
Fortunately I can access /sdcard/Android/data/com.xbmc.kodi using adb. The disadvantage: adb shell doesn't even provide VI or any other simple editor. The proposed solution to install busybox fails in need of root permission. And just to copy the busybox binary to an accessable folder didn't work too. Android gives the binary 660 permissions (no execute).
My solution for editing some configuration files in Kodi now is:
adb shell: access /sdcard/Android/data/com.xorg.kodi/files/.kodi
adb shell: cp configfile to /sdcard
Termux: Edit configfile
adb shell: cp /sdcard/configfile back to com.xorg.kodi
That's not a very comfortable solution. Is there better way modify config files of installed applications?
