I'm selling my O2 XDA Mini-S and want to Hard Reset it for various reasons but it won't work. I've tried the combination of comm manager voice dial and reset buttons either from off or on position but it still won't hard reset.
The only thing i've done away from the norm is have it unlocked for all networks. Has this stopped me hard resetting it. When I reset it I get the following info :
ipl 2.21
spl 2.21
gsm 02.07.10
os 2.21.4.1
Can anyone offer any advice quickly please as I sell it on Saturday?
how about start - settings - system - clear storage?
Will that clear the add/remove programs too ? And the registry tweaks I've added for my Today screen ?

Yes it will do, Hard Reset is like reverting your phone back to its out of the box condition.
No, I CAN'T hard reset. I was advised above to use Clear Storage and was asking if this would remove the registry tweaks ?!

*Faint*. Just for your information, the "Clear Storage" is a HARD RESET.
Oh, thanks very much for your advice all.
I realize how stupid that question looks, but I also can't believe I can't figure out how to do it. I've checked:
1) The CD.
2) The manual.
3) The device itself.
My 8525 is completely hosed and I need to do a factory reset.
How?
Select Start > Settings > System > Clear Storage. Type 1234 in the box and tap Yes. Note: This will erase all information on the device and restore it to factory setting.

Close to the end
Just remember you will lose ALL data

Thanks!
I actually caved and called Cingular. They said to hold down the two soft keys while doing a stylus reset, which I did.
Does your tip do the same, exact thing?
umm dunno,
i dont have this PPC, just found the info on the HTC site, under "Hard reset"
You can try both if you like but if the way you were told ove the phone works, use that seems simpler.
@srchingforsignl: you'd be amazed at what you can find in the hermes wiki too btw...

1 yes manila is the interface you see when you first startup the phone and the newest version is called sense
2 yes hard reset is safe but you will loose all the data in your phone memory. your storage card will not be erased however. soft reset wil just restaft the operating system.
3 yes it is safe. the worst is that your phone will not boot up anymore. a hard reset will solve this.
4 this is called the hard reset
5 see argun's post
tqs wilcovh for the answer and to argun i'll look into it.
okay, i accidentally delete something of my htc album, now it's not working....is there a way to reinstall the htc album that came with the tilt 2 factory software...please help
Have you tried a hard reset? Go to the windows start screen -> settings -> clear storage

A hard rest should erase all that stuff. Try it again.

You're not doing a real hard reset, you're doing a soft-reset.
Do this:
1) On the Home screen's Settings tab, tap Menu > All Settings > System > Clear Storage.
2) Enter 1234.
3) Tap YES to perform the reset, or tap NO to cancel the reset.
If its still there then format the sd card

SD card won't make a difference, you can actually just take it out and not even use it if you want, it has no bearing on settings etc.. unless you are flashing a custom ROM using sashimi or UC or other restoration things.
