Greetings all I'm brand new to the community..
I would love to see more themed dialers, in addition to the above requests. I did a good 30 minutes of searching through various posts as well.. Only to find two specific threads regarding dialers
By: idkwhothatis123 and jbadboy2007
One spoke of FC with some contacts button or something..
The other threads mentioning themed dialers led me to believe there would be more..
I'm either missing something. or I'm missing something??
Might any body point me in the right direction of were I could check out some themed dialers? Purtty please?
I'm running (this took me 2 days of getting my hands dirty!!!)
Epic: running Viper Trinity 3.03 and..... MY GPS works!!!!!!!!(20 hours and every version of firmware to get it that way.. )
But no I'm all warmed up and ready to go.. LOL..
Regarding a themed dialer.. I'm not just making a noob request.. I'm made the decision to start learning how to develop. Yay for me.. ( I have a programming bg and am excited to get started.. )
I'd love to replace the trinity dialer though in the mean time.. Jeeze Goat.. talk much?
Thanks all
I'm not sure which build that version of viper is on, but ideally, u could download any compatible theme. Then download the acs deodexed dk28 ROM. the dialer, alone is system/app/phone.apk.
What i would do is, open both theme and acs rom with 7zip (on computer), then drag the phone.apk into the theme folder.. then save, copy to sdcard, and flash normally.
Dialer
Thanks man for the quick reply..
I'm running SPH-D700-DK28-Extended-D
I believe that should suffice. Don't know what deoxed means yet. but I think my version is "deoxed"..?
So what I'm gathering is I can just grab any compatible theme copy it's phone.apk in to the the DK28 build that I'm using.. and re-flash?
That would mean I would then need to reflash the ROM right..
My understanding is that reflashing with a DK28 build will kill the custom ROM(viper)..
I'm having a sneaky suspicion that this should be in the devlopment section.. and now I'm thinking I need to do more homework.. Hmmmm
on another note.. I just d/l Viper Store from market.. they have some custom dialers for dl.. I'll try one of those..
However.. only one of them is available for d/l from my phone as the other 3 require one to use the multiupload link provided.. which strangely enough doesn't work on my(oranyone's?) Epic..
Ahhh so many little issues..
Thanks for you help
A while back I requested the lockscreen sliders from the R2-D2 Droid2 to be ported to our Glaciers and it was kind enough to have been fulfilled by Rich2Thad. It looks and works great with CM7 RC1. He based it on MrDSL's Mixer Theme. I had also done some personalization to it once he got everything functioning on it. Since RC2 came out and MrDSL released a version of his theme that works with RC2, I went ahead and merged the Star Wars theme with the new Mixer. Everything works great, except the call answer screen. I cannot get it to show the proper lockscreen sliders. I copied the files into the same places that Rich had used in the RC1 version. If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong I would really appreciate it!
Here's the link to download the RC2 Star Wars theme.
I want to say thank you to MrDSL for his killer Mixer theme. Without it I would not have my super pimp Star Wars theme! And also thank you to Rich2Thad! Because without him I would also not have my super pimp Star Wars theme! It really does make other nerds drool!
I believe the png's you are looking for are in the phone.apk. You can modify them just like the frameworkres.apk. Hopefully this helps you out.
Edit: Just pull the images from the old phone.apk and place them in the new phone.apk.

Did you get this working?
No, I never got the call screen working. I tried to edit your most recent theme in apk format to try to get this working too. But whenever I try to install it, it says application not installed. I'm at kind of a loss as to what to try next. :/

Hopefully renamed correctly to match.

It looks correct to me..I assume you're using the apk? After you replaced the images did you resign the .apk? It won't install without being signed..
If you don't know how then attach your modified version of my .apk here and I will sign it for you and repost it when I get home..
Use the newer Mixer_03.apk
edit...after looking at the images you want to replace you would need to use the metamorph file since the theme engine doesnt work with the lock screen..give me a few here
I did not sign it! That would be the reason! I think I can get it signed with Android Commander. Thanks so much for looking at it! If I run into any problems with signing I'll post it up. Thanks again!
EDIT: I looked at your thread on the General Themes forum and it only has Mixer_02.apk
The lock images you will have to use a metamorph on cause they won't work in the apk but all the other images can go directly in the apk..I would go ahead and put all the images there so they are there but the lock screen you will have to use a metamorph..
Follow?
Sorry Mixer_02 cause I havent released Mixer_03 yet.
I'm pretty sure I follow. Just replace the images in your metamorph zip with the images I have for the lockscreen.

and the phone.apk also..they have a couple lock images also.
Thanks so much for all your help man! I cannot wait to get out of class so I can finish building this! And thanks for your badass theme! It is a perfect base!
In your new theme, is it supposed to remove the power control bar in the notification drawer?
EDIT: Nevermind a reboot fixed it. So weird though.
So are you going to share your nifty new Star Wars theme? I was using the old one too but of course have since moved on since it's been "outdated". I'd love to give your new one a try though.

Mostly what he is doing is just replacing some images from my .apk..What you could do is install the Mixer.apk and then just apply his metamorph to it.
So hopefully he will share his metamorph..
Absolutely I will! I just finished it up. I'm getting errors when unzipping my metamorph, but it installs just fine. I got it up and running. I will also upload my version of your theme if you're okay with it.
Okay... I posted the MetaMorph zip in your thread MrDSL. Here is a link to the post.

How to install themes and kernels in G3. Can someone make a video Please.
Sorry if this might come off as rude, but why would somebody make a video for you? Why would somebody do that, if you (obviously) weren't willing to look for the info yourself? Go to the themes section, you are bound to find info on changing themes, go to the development section and open a custom kernel thread, you are bound to find info on flashing kernels.

go to the theme sections for more details..!!
you need your phone to be rooted to install themes..!!
many themes have different requirement and procedure.!!
generally you are required to replace the framework_res and tw_framework files in system/framework folder using root explorer..
you can also try the one click theme changer and g3 theme changer apps!!
more info in the themes sections.!!
you can install kernals by flashing them via odin!!!
more info in development section!!!!
you can always refer this link too!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858583
this is there in stubborn_donkey's signature!!
and always try to search in the sections for your answer.. if you still dont get any then you post a new thread..!!!
Thanks guys for the reply. If there was a video it would be nice. I tried to install theme by using cmw and install zip from sd card, then my phone restarts and gets stuck in that and i have to flash the os again.
to install a theme just use this
to install a kernel download the kernel whta you want and flash it with odin, normaly it comes in a tar file including a zImage inside

That was not the right way. U need to download a theme and replace the respective files
Acid lestitious 2.0. Fugumod 2.2
It's quite simple.
1. Kernels come in .tar packages, and you need only to flash them on your phone with ODIN as one package. They will overwrite your current kernel.
2. Themes come in .apk files. You should put them in /system/framework/
For that, I use adb (android shell).
But if you asked that question, you probably have an odexed rom, which makes it nearly impossible to use themes, so read around on the forums first!

I know a lot of people are moving over to the beta ICS ROMs, but for those who are sticking with GB/Sense 3.5 ROMs for now, thought I would share my custom theme. Been using it myself since seb's original AiO ROMs, so hopefully there shouldn't be any major bugs by now
Since I now have two versions, I thought I would share them here in a separate thread, rather than the individual ROM threads. Makes it easier for me troubleshoot (and update, if I find something else to change!).
Each is based on files taken from the respective ROM, in order to keep any framework mods the ROM author may have applied (I know that seb definitely made some changes to his framework-res.apk to address battery issues). Whilst they may be cross-compatible, I suggest sticking to the version for your ROM...but you knew that anyway, right For the same reason, I cannot guarantee any compatibility with any other Sense 3.5 ROM but if anyone does try it, feedback would be welcome!

Hi

Can you maybe make some Themes compatible with Desire Runnymede AIO 6.0.4.1 Stock Hboot?
or tell me how to do?

I never used the stock hboot version. If you can find out the file path for the app folder and framework folder, I could try and come up with something. It will probably be buried somewhere in seb's thread. Or you can transfer the .apks across manually using adb - again I'm sure instructions were already mentioned in the thread at some point. Time for you to do some digging...
Looks really great! I definetely try this one out
Keep the nice work up!
Very nice theme, but saying "compatible with AiO Special Edition v5.0.4 upwards" is not correct. Causes bootloops on AIO 6.0.4.3.

Thanks for the feedback. V6.0.4.3 wasn't out when I posted this, but v5.x and v6.x both use the same ROM base, so the framework files are unchanged between the two versions. Just to check, you are using this with the CM7r2 HBOOT version of the ROM, right?
Anyone else having problems with the new AiO ROM?
i got 2 questions about this theme:
1) will this theme work on RCMix 3D Runnymede ROM?
2) will it work on the htc inspire?

Yes, I'm trying to use it with CM7/r2. Tried everything. Copied separate files to appropriate locations with no luck. Will try today later to put it on completely new ROM installation.
EDIT: BTW, after some investigation found that IceHD theme has no framework.jar file and it boots normally, but causes lots of FC everywhere (probably because of old base). Anyway, I had no luck installing your theme without framework.jar...
EDIT2: Fully wiped, installed AIO 6.0.4.3, installed your theme without reboot and now have bootloop. FYI, this is LOG file
Not sure what the problem is since others are using the theme with 6.0.4.3. Will take a look at the log you provided, but think it may be better for me to flash 6.0.4.3 myself, that way I can test it better. Hopefully do that tonight
EDIT: Took a look at the log file...have little to no coding knowledge, so a lot of it doesn't mean much to me! That said, couldn't see anything related to the theme files. There was thing I saw in the log though. Have you tried fixing permissions in recovery after flashing the theme?
EDIT2: Ok, just flashed AIO 6.0.4.3. If I flash the theme straight away without rebooting, I also got boot loops. However, if I flashed the ROM, rebooted and let the ROM settle, then reboot into recovery and flash the theme, it seems to boot up fine. Not sure why its not working for you, but might be worth trying a reboot in between flashing the ROM and the theme. If that doesn't work, have uploaded a couple of other versions - maybe you could try them out and let me know how you get on?

Thanks for your hard work and helping me. I managed to install theme myself without reading your post . I did exactly the way you did. Installed, rebooted, rebooted to recovery again and installed theme.
Would be fun to try your idea with permissions, maybe will do that later.

Glad you got it working. Unless you get force closes, you don't need to fix permissions - my install script does it for you. Just thought it might be worth trying...
I don't know why, but for me that doesn't work :/

Ah, that explains it! This theme won't work for Runny ROM v5 since shub made changes to SystemUI and framework.jar - the versions I uploaded are for seb's AIO ROM and the RSK ROM.
EDIT: Runny ROM version added to OP. Not had a chance to test it yet, so please let me know if it works ok

And please test this time because i added the theme to my OP!!
Dont know whether I should put this here or in general.....
Anyways, I do have a laptop now. I can make mods etc, but I do not know how. What is the best way to make soft-mods?
What devs allow softmods?
What do people want in a softmod?
Any suggestions would be welcome!
Thanks for your Offer.
I recommend you to make a Froyo Soft-Mod, cause we've a lot of GB CM7 on this forums, will be great to see more Froyo's ROM updated.

Well you can always edit png's in framework. You can use uot kitchen, dsixda kitchen, xultimate.
Init.d can be tweaked
If you want a complete ROM build you can try aosp froyo. You might use pcfighter / zice kernel .....

When i created my soft-mod i didn't use a computer.
U don;t really need a computer to create a mod.
U just need root explorer. unless u want to create it into a recovery zip

Hi.
I want start to make Rom .
Where should I start *?
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using xda app-developers app
Start by making soft-mods. Get a Rom flash it on your phone, dont add any personal stuff like contacts yet. Put in some nice apps themes tweaks and mods and after that use CWM to back it up and it "should" be ready to share... well at least that is somewhere to start from.
Edit: For those planning to make 4.0 softmods maybe you can also see this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680328 i know its from the SGSII but i guess the way to do things is similar. (just dont use the flashable thing from the mediafire link!)
