Plz hax this for Nexus

Ya, I wish my Nexus One can do that too, considering how my Nokia N85 has video out via 3.5mm. I can make use of the same cable that came with my Nokia
Why would you want this? You'd still be stick with crappy composite video out, and either lose ability for headset controls or have some complicated switch/check mechanism to handle in/out. Just my 2 cents...

I would LOVE this feature on my N1: get the wiimote/classic wii controler out and the emulators, and there you have an awesome, take everywhere, games console!!

It would still look great on a standard definition tv.

I want this so I can watch google nav on my 7-inch car stereo screen.
This is one of those things that has to be hardware on the pcm.
This won't happen on the nexus.

Ya boohoo... this is my only hangup on nexus atm. I really want video out! I wonder if it's possible someone could make some sort of USB adapter to provide video output.
I'm so sad there will be no nexus 2 either gonna be stuck with a carrier-gimped phone at some point if I want this.
"cyanogen: The Bluetooth HID support in CM6 by @0xdroid is pretty slick. With HDMI out, we'll be using our phones as media centers."
Dreams do come true
Wonder how things will change with CAT6 set to take over for HDMI. Will there be a mini-RJ45 connector that phones can use for video and data? That'd be neat-o bandito.
can you buy one or do they even exhist? what about a headphone adapter, i also want to plug phone into my car stereo and current cable does not turn off phone speaker.

Micro-USB and HDMI are two different standards that don't mix. Would not work.
Can you Bluetooth to your car? That's how I do it and it works great!
After researching, it appears that there may be a cable made by Samsung that converts Micro-USB to HDMI, but whether or not it works on our phones, or at all for that matter, is not confirmed.
seen a picture of a cable for the hdmi and was told by sprint rep there will be one but have not found one yet, or maybe samsung snowjobed me. the 1/8" cable i am looking for converts the 4 segment plug to a 3 segment plug and i dont need any other extra microphone or volume control that probably wont work anyway

so that is it than .I was tricked into buying it over the evo. now the only thing it has going for it is the hardware keyboard . And I also expect it will never see froyo either .and no rooting either like the evo . samsung the liars!! knew I should have got the evo, and my couz will never stop giving me crap about it now.
Get a dlna dvd player as a dedicated media player and use the allshare from your epic to the player..went to best buy they have an lg blu ray dlna player for around 189. I can already stream from my windows 7 laptop to the epic with a small amount of buffering. Better yet get a ps3 and use that hdmi out and a dlna player AIO.

It will 100% see Froyo as we have Froyo leaks on the other phones. We already have root...and as for the HDMI <-> microsub...if Samsung does not make it work I'm pretty sure the community will..

Was just at BestBuy, they have in a Micro USB to HDMI cable for 29.99, made by Dynex.
Ofcourse this will only work on the Evo, as the Epic wouldn't send any video out that port i think.

Two different cables. The Evo uses "micro-HDMI" to HDMI and Samsung phones use "micro-USB" to HDMI. The Epic does NOT (presently) have a video out option, so neither will work. Save your $.

You can easily get video out on the Epic, use a 3.5mm to RCA cable.

http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/10/analogix-slim-port-technology-lets-you-connect-your-phone-to-you/
Sometimes, the simplest ideas are the best ones, and Analogix Slim Port technology certainly qualifies as both. It's a cabling solution that allows you to mirror what's on your phone or tablet's screen to your TV via microUSB -- instead of needing an extra HDMI or MHL port. Analogix's secret sauce is on a chip embedded in the jack portion of the cable and because it's based on DisplayPort technology, it can connect using HDMI, VGA, or DVI connections. Of course, as an OEM, Analogix won't be selling the cables when they go on sale this summer, but retailers like Belkin and BizLink will probably be put one in your bag for around $20 or $30 bucks.

So now we can connect our beloved Play to that TV XD
I think it doesn't work like that... you have to have the tech on your phone (Mobility DisplayPort (MYDP) digital interface) it then allows uncompressed video/audio from a phone over display-port and also allows usb transfer modes

Why do we have two threads about the exact same thing I dont know
But i'll post the same thing I did over in the other one
Do you think that TV out is just going to magicly work when you plug in USB LOL
FYI your usb port is never outputting video lol. you would have to run some type of program to do it and that will use CPU power
When have you ever plugged usb into your PC and a message comes up "Would you like to mirror image on your screen?"
You guys know the PSP actually had software written for it that allowed USB mirror to desktop and it lagged the device so badly most games weren't playable anymore

You do realize that PSP is less than 1/3rd the Xperia PLAY's overall capability, right?
PSP also couldn't handle any form of graphical MMOs.

check the spec sheets. Also, notice that the Play has Dev units with HDMI out and they don't lag a little.
A bit off topic, but I don't think I ever posted this while I was analyzing the play for HDMI.
According to the kernel, the Dev plays have this chipset and all Plays have the drivers for it: http://www.analog.com/en/audiovideo-products/analoghdmidvi-interfaces/adv7520/products/product.html
And this can be seen on the Dell Streak: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Dell-Streak-Teardown/3512/2
Now, I tore apart my Play (when I had it), and I can confirm that that chip is NOT on my retail r800i. This means that there is no "hidden" port or some unfilled solderpads that can be used to attach a microhdmi. There is NO support on the retail motherboard for it. You can't even buy the ADV7520 chip because there are no space on the retail motherboard for it.
There's no chip or hdmi port on the play I've watched dissasemblies of all types r800a,x,I

There is a solution where you connect to a bluetooth HDMI dongle using your bluetooth and its specific app to stream phone content onto the screen, I think it was mentioned on Engadget but I cannot seem to find the link for it.

so your dev unit theory is irrelevant because our plays contain none of the architecture to run this setup with hdmi.
would have to find another solution.

I don't have a theory, as I don't care one bit about TV output of any kind. However, you mentioned that the PSP wasn't powerful enough to beam out content, which is not a problem in the Xperia Play (or Arc and Neo for that matter).
Why do people keep saying "the play has no HDMI transmitter" if you read the OP, with this cable the HDMI transmitter is built into the jack, the device does not need one

So the USB Device registers itself as.. what exactly ?
I mean, the play still has to send it's image to the dongle either way.

The adapter is probably accompanied with an app. Although the app would need root acces, atleast I think so.
whilst i think this would be an awesome piece of kit if it works as intended, im a little curious as to how it actually works, afaik the cpu sends its work to the gpu for output, the gpu processes it, and outputs it to the display....so how exactly does the usb port get the information from gpu...maybe easy with root access on one device...but making it work on a wide range of devices would be crazy hard.
im not gonna straight up bash this, because they have said its a vendor agnostic solution, so im assuming they have worked out some technical magic with no downsides to pull this off. I'm all for being proved wrong, i just want to see it in action.

First statement is a bit overstated.
By capability the gpu in the PSP has a fillrate of 30 million polygons/s
I believe our Adreno has 52 mil/s
Plus instead of the capability I believe it was the limitation of USB speeds that affected the computer mirroring software.

being a total newbie to tablets i am looking to finally delve in with a nexus 10, it looks a amazing machine, and everything i am looking for, well except for one item.
i regularly use my laptop to give presentations, and need to connect to a projector via vga.
Colleagues use the iPad, and it is seamless, but personally i prefer the android route.
From all my research i have come to the conclusion that this is not feasible on the nexus 10?
cant beleive such a high ens spec machine cannot support it.
Please any one shed some light.
Thanks

VGA is low spec...
Get a HDMI to vga adapter.

Adapters are cheap stuff. You will need two, though: micro-HDMI to HDMI, and from there, HDMI to VGA.
Thanks,
I assume then it just mirrors the screen?

I feel for you man! At work we have to put up with the worst equipment paid for with ginormous amounts of money.
At my work, the technical coordinator bought a Smartboard, which is a giant touchscreen with a few software extras. It is about a 70" inch screen and has been introduced as the more expensive top model. Naturally, I brought some equipment to take it through a test drive - an hdmi adapter for my Galaxy S3 and some 1080p trailers.
Then came realisation - not only do they connect it via VGA to the presentation pc, it only supports 1366 * 768 max resolution (the S3 would happily output 1080p if supported). Piece Of Crap Deluxe. At least they extended a HDMI cable to where the PC stands, but it doesn't have a suitable graphics adapter. Will still look crappy anway when they eventually upgrade that one. :crying:
Hy guys!
I just found a jack to compozit cable in my cabinet. It has a Jack father and an RCA (red-white-yellow) father. I have got a pic, but Im new in here, so I cant link...
So, I just wondering, can we use this cable to connect the N7 to a TV?
I know, at the moment we can't, but why? Because the hardware limitation, or the android doesn't support this feature?

As far as I know, you'd just be transporting the audio if you were to plug it into any device. You'd have to have an extra adapter to port the video through the yellow composite video cable.
Though people have been known to make some wicked little mods, so you never know these days.
Nexus 7 does not have the hardware capability.
