ya i saw that but later in the episode he was holding a blackberry, i tried to get a look at the other phone but couldn't get a clean look at it

...People actually watch that show? Huh.

the show is good for 2 things - chicks and more chicks.

It's annoying how apple is able to get their devices and logo plastered all through tv and movies. I'd love to see Google fight back and get some android action in place.

i know how cool would it be seeing tom cruise playing a tic tac toe game on it, that would pull the punters in big time.

Just watched the episode, and... yep he is certainty using a Nexus one.
I love it

I haven't seen iron man but doesn't he use an LG ally? There's an ally commercial with iron man is the only reason I ask...also I see the g1 randomly on commercials and TV shows, not exactly the best android to promote but I suppose its better than nothing...

Actually, I am pretty positive he is using an Incredible. The back is too dark to be an N1.

Watching the show right now.
They all are switching through phones, but I noticed Drama, Ari, and even a few other people using the Nexus One.
Then later on Ari uses a blackberry.

If anybody watched 24 almost everybody used HTC's..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=689709

Ari has at least two phones on him all the time. The first thing I did when I saw the phone is flip mine over and look at the camera lol.

IDK if that was a nexus, it kinda looks like it, but so do some of the other phones and they aren't a nexus.

i dunno, it really looks like a nexus to me

is this the htc hero?
Clearly a nexus one.

I went back and looked on my tivo and it definitely is. You can even see the Google logo on the back of it. I think I got mixed up with the other two phones Ari has. lol

On weeds, most everyone uses an iphone, but I have seen Andy (Mary Louis Parker's brother-in-law on the TV show) use a G1 a couple times.

Comparing the screen to the iPhone, is it glass or plastic?
I'm switching from iPhone to Evo but I have not had the chance to hold one and compare build quality.
My question is how much lag is there? Not just the home screen but the apps. FOr instance, when you open messages, how long does it take to display things? That's the number one thing I hate about Sense. Too much f-ing lag.
joecrack305, if you're in miami let me know which store so that i can come check it out.

i have both hero and iphone and they feel plastic, the evo def feels like glass.

jvs60 - no ones technically suppose to know about us having the evo, but every corp store in america has one person with a evo. my supervisor is the one with the evo and i know my manager def wouldnt be a happy camper if i told you to swing by, but go to any store in miami and ask to see the evo advocates phone test your luck.
tried seeing one at my local corporate sprint store. met the advocate who had it, said he was sworn to not show it off or he would get in trouble.
it is so awesome. I feel like the guy from the burger king commercial who has the small hands and hates going to burger king when I am holding it. It is pretty big, and comes with an 8gb card in it. No lag at all when putting live wallpapers on there (unlike my rooted hero). Damn I love this phone!
giddyup!
I feel like such a school girl! This thing won't be out for another 3 weeks, and I'm scouring the internet for everything EVO!
From what I've seen online, the lag is minimal...remember it has a Snapdragon 1Ghz Processor in it...Go play with a HD2 and you'll get a feel for the speed...Android 2.2 is supposed to be faster than 2.1 from what i heard also.

Can you play with the keyboard? Is it easy to type and stuff? I am coming from using a slide out keyboard so I am kinda worried about having to start using a onscreen keyboard.
thanks
The hero was my first onscreen keyboard and the iPhone was my second
The hero I'd give a 7
the iPhone 10
evo so far a 10
The screen is so big and easy to type on it's amazing for the hero I use swype now and I will probably use that in the evo when I switch

Idea to honour the N1, the King of phones.

I was just thinking, in two or three years when we've all moved on from our N1s, we could band together and stick them together into a giant android sculpture, or a transformer
#random
Crazy idea buddy but good idea to honor the n1, the best bravest and most innovative phone ever but the worst treated by the media, utterly assassinated.
Maybe a site which each person with an n1 IMEI rate their n1 online on a 1 to 5 scale - and get a virtual n1 to build a sculpture with, and a place to write comments on their virtual n1.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Or maybe make a chat app like chatroulette that uses the device numbers as registration so its n1 users only then create a meetup.

I wonder how long it will be until Google has a manufacturer produce another developer phone?
The Nexus one is the most perfect phone for me and I cant see anything but another developer phone replacing it. It's beautiful, cutting edge, gets updates quicker, is with T-mobile, and is not under carrier control.
What more could you want?
I only know two other people who have nexii one. And they both bought one because they saw how awesome mine was.
Im sure we could get google to organise something like this, an N1 graveyard of kings.
I wonder how well it would've sold if it had been available in stores.
Now that Google have announced they have the final batch of N1s from HTC, I went and ordered another one! I'm going to leave it in mint condition.
I have had range of different cell phones since 1993 and none come close to the N1.
I know that the future will bring much better phones, however, I do recognise what Google was trying to achieve with the N1.

I unlocked it, rooted it, upgraded his radio and kernel (OC, UV - and he was still running 2.1 update 1. Working for Tmo you'd think he'd get the upgrades first xD) And after that, I gave him CM6, cause that was pretty much the easiest way to get all of the GOOD mods in one. I gave him ADW using the paperless theme, and he thought that was way cool, along with the black desire notification bar. It probably took me, including download times, about 25 minutes using his laptop. So, if I could do this for a living, I could charge $120 an hour =D

The International version (Samsung Galaxy S) and Sprint Epic 4G has front cameras. The Captivate and Vibrant does not.
I honestly don't get all the hype about front cameras. Why? What's the point?
It's new, untouched technology. Just because Apple marketed it doesn't make it a good idea.
Give it a year. I'm sure the "Galaxy S 2" will have one. Doubt it'll be a standard by then anyways though.

Yeah, that's what I used to think until...
I have an iPhone 4 and an i9000 (both have front cameras). I was testing both phones at the same time. I was going to return the iPhone in my first 30 days because iOS4 just isn't up to Android standards in my book. I also have a Nexus One on T-Mo that I mostly use as a WiFi hotspot.
I'd played with FaceTime once with my only other friend to have an iPhone 4. He lives in Florida, I'm in California and we wanted to check it out. No big deal on the first test.
One day I was driving to work and got the clever idea to connect the iPhone to the WiFi hotspot on the Nexus One. I then called my friend in Florida with FaceTime on the iPhone 4 and it worked just great over 3G. (You can also jailbreak the iPhone and use 3G Unrestrictor to just do it directly over the phone).
I had the iPhone 4 in a dash mounted holder and it was so cool. My friend's face was there on the dash and we were like in the car together. I still focused on the road, of course, but I could glance and see his face like you would with someone in the car with you when appropriate.
At one point he even asked where I was and I just switched the camera from front to back with the onscreen button and he then saw out the road as if he were riding in the car with me. Then I switched back.
We both really thought the experience enhanced the quality of our conversation. I decided to keep the iPhone just because of that.
So, yes, it's a new idea, and not a lot of phones have it, but even though Apple's ahead of the curve on that one, once more phones make it that simple to be face to face when you want to, it's going to change everything.
Nothing wrong with wanting a front camera in my opinion; those who do just are a bit more visionary than those who don't care about it yet.

lol! nice.
Btw, I don't really have any feelings about the need for a front-facing camera, but that anecdote about doing an iPhone "video-conference" on the road via N1 WiFi is pretty cool. That' be a great thing to do while traveling.
Great, texting while driving is bad enough, now having a video chat while driving, please God tell me you don't live anywhere near me.

Its not that new. I remember there was hard advertising in 2003 in UK when carrier 3 got the 3g. Apple is always "revolutionizing" technologies that already existed for a while.
For front camera would be great for occasional video over ip calls, such as skype, or what fring did before.

Its not new technology. Hell, landline phones had video capabilities 10+ years ago, it never took off because its a gimmic. Facetime is a gimmic. Sure its nice but you will use it a couple of times for the "cool factor" then it will wear off, just like the Wii did with so many people.

You hit the nail on the head androidmonkey. I don't think it will last long. Very gimmicky. Now when data speeds catch up that might be a different story.
For example, when phones began including really cheap-ass cameras I thought what a stupid idea. And still did until this last year or so when the quality finally caught up.
The hilarious thing to me is that King Steve in his ivory tower piously looks down upon the masses content that he is keeping them safe from porn not realizing that the#1 use of his new phone is probably NOT facetime but *****time... lol

Androidmonkey is correct. Video calling has been around for years. Japan (and I believe Europe) has been doing this way before iPhone4. Just because Apple says its revolutionary or magical doesn't mean they did it first. Apple is full of ****. Their marketing team is great at making people into believing what they say. People need to open their eyes. Apple-lovers = lemmings, automatons, etc. And another thing, Facetime over wi-fi is nothing more than video chat like on your pc. Good grief.
What are you guys talking about... I use video calling on my vibrant all of the time. you can clearly see a camera to the left of the speaker

Funny part about this, is just the other day, there was a side discussion on how MOST tv shows are littered with iPhones, iPads, etc. Anything Apple. Not to mention every commercial break has an iPhone commercial, and on Bones, although they didn't SHOW an apple, one of the characters used the phrase, "There's an app for that".
There was an episode of "The Closer" where one of the detectives whipped out an Evo to take a video confession from a suspect, but other than that and last nights Fringe, everything else is mainly apple or the occasional Blackberry.
I saw this!
The wife thinks I'm a total nerd as it is, so I can only imagine what went through her mind as I was sitting on the couch, flashing kernels and roms on my new evo, watching Fringe (the geekiest show I know of right now) and I point to the TV and yell "OMG IT'S MY PHONE BABE LOOK!!" and nearly have an involuntary nerdgasm.
She just shook her head. Hahaha.
What was the messaging app he was using? Just a mock-up app for the show maybe? I kinda liked it.

Nexus One Shown In Disney Channel Commercial!?!?!

So... My daughter was just watching Disney channel and all of the sudden it goes on commercial. Then, they are advertising some sort of membership and say to text yada yada to yada yada in order to sign up and the phone they showed was clearly a NEXUS ONE! It had the trackball shining. Just sort of surprised me that they would show that over an iPhone or something that kids might recognize more lol.
I would love to see photos of this. hahaha
On Fox35 News here in Orlando, FL they were showing an Android app a local guy developed that enables you to pay participating stores via text and they were showing him showing how the app worked and he was using an N1.
