Review for two
I have two reviews, I have used both quiet a bit.
EzHero-
Looks: Really cool! I love the rounded edges and Launcher Pro
Functionality: Has a bunch of features, like 360 rotation and Spare parts in settings
Usability: 9.75/10, sometimes the status bar is a bit hard to pull down
Speed: 99/10- extremely extremely fast, in fact fastest rom I have used yet!
Overall: Ill give it 9.2/10
Description: A really good rom for what seems like a fairly new developer. It is quick, stable, and most importantly it works how it should. Most of everything in this rom works with out extra flashable stuff
Now for Vanilla Eclair:
Looks: Really cool! I love the rounded edges, but not to fond of the Launcher
Functionality: Not to many features, more of just Vanilla.
Usability: 8/10- It is not that fast and honestly just doesn't have the usaibilty of sense roms or stuff
Speed: 7.85/10- Stable, but not to ridiculously fast
Overall: Hmmm, tough one, 8/10
Description: Radu did a fantastic job on the kernels, but it can be a bit unstable at times. Though I am a vanilla fan, I am not to big on this one in my opinion.

I liked EZHero 3.x and 4.0 Beta a lot, but after a bit of usage I must say that the UI felt a bit sloppy in response time even though using LauncherPro and veryfing via top that no other process was out of control :-( moved back to VR 10.3 as SuperHero froze on my phone for no apparent reason.

I liked EZHero 3.x

Excellent work mate,... well done. No more "which is the best...." threads. You'l have to try and keep it updated though.
Good job.
EDIT,.... Agree with WILEYKAT.... Put that into 1st post to only post a reply to give overall reviews, I'll do mine tonight.
Good thread.
I think that you should only post IF you have a review, so that the thread doesn't turn into an arguement thread.
I'll edit my post later when I can write a full review of my choice.
CronosDroid 1.3
Keep up the good work Cronos.
Edit: To OP. Maybe you should add to the post that this thread is not a place to basher other devs either.
Posts should be strictly to show which rom you use and show support to respective dev.
And not to say X is way better than Y etc.
Helps avoid un-needed future flame fights and filters out trolls.
VillainROM FTW!!
i never really used AOSP ones.. but when froyo will come, i'll sure check out the AOSP ones!!
VillainROM keep the good work up!! The roms are [email protected][email protected]
Any way you can open up the voting so that people can change their votes as they change roms? I don't tend to stick to a single rom for more than a week or so. It feels slightly pointless mentioning my current one as its likely to change in the next few days. Obviously people can always edit their reviews to reflect different roms.

Description: Nice looking ROM, I like the different themes. No stability issues, aside from when changing themes sometimes. Everything seems to be working well so far and i'm thinking of sticking with this until VillainROM 6.1 is released.
Edit: Benchmark: 2.952 (@691MHz)
+1 for BeHero+ 1.2 (with toast/benhaams 2.6.29 kernel 710mhz overclock). Nearly faultless. Very little lag, and a very clean ROM - no bundled extras or wallpapers. Small, fast, full Sense. I have beautifulwidgets, weatherbug elite, stocks widget, calendar widget, all open and still get ~2.98 linpack with full overclock - which is fast enough for me!
Oh - and I get at least a good days battery life too. With music listening to/from work (40 minute walk).
As an aside, HTC Hero community is going to have a terrible loss if/when Benhaam does finally give it up as a bad job. It'll be a real shame.
I think there should be a separate poll for AOSP and Sense UI roms.
aHero, heads down.
Sensehero for me haven't been disappointed yet. : ) keep up the good work stickman
My vote for VanillaEclair [AOSP] [v3.0] [24/05/2010]
With linpack 4.5-4.7, [email protected]
Very smooth LauncherPro and good device stability.
Great idea with this poll. One more thing however would be very useful for chosing rom: sort of table or sheet with list, what was removed and what was added in comparision to original ROM (yeah, I know that there aren't an orginal 2.1 gsm rom, but it could be compare with cdma rom for example). For me I search fast and stable rom which would be as identical with original (preinstalled programs etc.) as possible.
we should post linpack scores with the roms to backup our votes, and to make it easier to see which is physically best. I get 4.6~4.7 on vanilla eclair 3.0, have yet to try villian 6 though so we will see
Linpack isn't everything.... for one its a simulated calculation - not what the average programs will be processing. Most of these reviews are going to be highly subjective.
I think the team villain roms should be merged :/ also, does sensehero really count when its just a rip off of villain? maybe that should merge to be villains votes too.

Excuse me no its not, you can do all the checks you want!! I think you will find its my work, based on the latest official CDMA 2.1 leak and my compiled OC kernel and so on...
The comments recieved from the SenseHERO users have mentioned and believe it to be the fastest 2.1 sense build available.

VillainROM, not interested even in official 2.1
VillainROM is far ahead of others. Keep up the good work guys. My ROM choice:
1. SlideVillain1.1.0
2. VillainROM6.0.1
3. None

Amazing thread. Thanks so much for creating this. I'm sure it was a lot of work to wade through all those ROMs.
I've been a huge fan of MoDaCo ROM 3.2, which is extremely fast. But I just can't wait anymore and really want Android 2.1 - as MoDaCo only runs 1.5. I will be installing VillainROM 6 today.
Guys... There is one ROM almost perfect IMO.
CRONOS DROID ver.1.4.1 528 stable.
Everything works super fast and responsive. Fully overclockable by user.
Cannot imagine how stock 2.1 can be better.( if will be released ).
Vote +1 for cronosdroid.

i wonder why you're still flaming around. MODS ? Hello ? This is annoying. And accusing someone to steal smthing w/o having any evidence is punishable.

Hmm.. You don't have to make the greatest ROM anymore.. Just need to have a great community on your side.
So how does this poll work?
I can't really vote for a ROM i haven't tried. Most people will vote for whatever they are running, right? So you are right, it is just the rom with the biggest community. It's just a popularity contest, not comparing which is best.
Any chance people will actually put reviews up on this?
Over 200 votes but nobody rating on how Cronos or VR10 perform.

How to enable JIT and where to find the kernel?
Make no sense
VR 10.* is based on the official release, there is no doubt that VR 10.* is the best as the others are all ported roms.
so,IT'S NOT FAIR.
the resault make no sense . I THINK.
What do ya mean, "not fair"?
Others could use the HTC optimizations as well - VillainROM just happens to have them all already.
On another note, biggest community is also related to "best" ROM: if a ROM is unstable, slow or incomplete, people are free (and usually do) switch to another release.
So stop complaining and vote for whatever you think is best...

i disagree, if someone started producing shody roms the community would start looking elsewhere.
This might show which is popular, but the roms which are popular are popular for a reason, thats not to say the other roms arnt as good, just will maybe take time to catch up with supporters.

Just to comment on the above, if you use Ninpo's kernel you will easily get linpack of 3.0 or higher on VR10
And I get at least 31fps as well in neocore.
(WITHOUT JIT)

i second this, ninpos kernal on vr10.2 is great and produces some great benchmarks

Quadrant/Neocore scores based on ROM/Kernel/SetCPU/SDCard

Just thought about gathering up some info on Quadrant scores and possibly correlate that to ROM/Kernel/MicroSD setup in order to figure out the best combination. I understand that Quadrant scores are somewhat subjective and Kernel code along with HD2 Android Builds are constantly changing, but it would still be interesting to see the tendencies in the performance.
Here is my most recent result:
Quadrant Score: 2046
Neocore Score: 31.8fps
ROM: [Build][21.10.2010][NexusHD2-FRG83 V1.5 PPP + RMNET (Froyo 2.2.1)]
Kernel: Hastarin 7.7
SetCPU: 1152/1152/ondemand
MicroSD: Transcend 8GB Class 6
Please note that I ran Quadrant and Neocore multiple times and I am showing the highest score achieved. I recommend you to do the same. I have seen 1994, 1997, 2015, 2017.
Here is Quadrant Score breakdown:
CPU - 6405
Memory - 1139
I/O - 1958
2D - 309
3D - 418
I noticed that 2D and 3D scores are not fluctuating as much as the other scores, though overclocking does slightly increase their values.
Thanks,
-CJ
Here is my most recent result:
Quadrant Score: 1570
ROM: Mdeejay evo sense 2.2 rEVOlution
Kernel: Hastarin 7.7
SetCPU: 1152/1152/interactive
MicroSD: Transcend 8GB Class 6
Here is my most recent result:
Quadrant Score: 2350
ROM: Mdeejay evo sense 2.3 rEVOlution
Kernel: Hastarin 7.7

that's quite some result!
Quadrant Score: 1500-1700 (varies quite a lot)
ROM: Mdeejay FroYo HD v.3.7
Kernel: Hastarin 7.7
SetCPU: 250/1152/conservative (performance doesn't change score)
MicroSD: Sandisk Class 6 (Ultra version)
I think it would be useful for those who have quadrant advanced to post the breakdown of their score to see exactly how everyone differs so much.
Not to be a buzzkill but a synthetic benchmark result from any of these programs doesn't really mean anything. It's more than possible to have a high linpack/neocore/xyz benchmark result and have a sluggish, unresponsive UI. You can do all sorts to Android to inflate your score but what counts is being able to use the phone day to day, with no problems.
how are you guys running neocore. my phone keeps telling me i dont support qualcomm accelerated graphics. then it force closes.
ive tried nearly all android builds, with a variety of available kernels.
none of them seem to allow me to run neocore. however i can get a 2k score in quadrant advanced.

Neocore FC could be a kernel issue (and/or maybe related to stagefright). Try Hastarin's 7.7 kernel and/or make sure stagefright is enabled.

Not to be a buzzkill but a synthetic benchmark result from any of these programs doesn't really mean anything. Nexus 7 Rom Benchmark Comparisons

This is a thread I will be updating tonight and tomorrow, I will be comparing benchmark performance for stock, the new paranoid android build and an unofficial cyanogenmod build compiled for the new nexus 7 (It uses the exact cyanogenmod code, nothing custom. Just to tide us over before nightlies. I will test all of these roms with and without jassy's kernel (Yes I will be rooting stock for that.)
Stock Benchmarks:
Antutu Benchmark:
19318
Quadrant Benchmark:
5229
3d Mark Ice Storm Benchmark:
11866
3d Mark Ice Storm Extreme Benchmark:
7210
Stock with Root and Jassy's Kernel (Using Jassy's settings w/ 1890 mhz clock) Benchmarks:
Antutu Benchmark:
21803 (Large improvement)
Quadrant Benchmark:
6757 (Very large improvement)
3d Mark Ice Storm Benchmark:
13048 (Large improvement)
3d Mark Ice Storm Extreme Benchmark:
8120 (Large Improvement)
Don't even think about it

Quadrant Benchmarks stock Samsung JB vs CM 11 latest nightly vs CM 10.1.3 vs LP 12.1

I just bought a used Note II GT-N7105 so before I sell my GT-N7000 I decided to take advantage of it not being needed and run a quick comparison between the Samsung Jelly Bean 4.1.2 firmware and the latest CM11 (20150419). In each case it is absolutely stock except for the installation of Quadrant apk. The stock firmware is really stock (no 3rd party recovery) and CM runs with the CWM version it ships with. No accounts set up, no SIM, nothing removed or added except a 16GB microSD containing no media except a signed recovery and a modern kernel (to enable installing cm) and a cm11 nightly zip. The only additional change from set up is to connect to my wifi.
I ran the test several times on each OS and below are the best results from each:
Samsung 4.1.2
Code:
Overall: 4505
CPU: 6730
Mem: 5003
I/O :8669
2D: 321
3D: 1803
CM11
Code:
Overall: 4030
CPU: 7581
Mem: 3265
I/O: 6865
2D: 243
3D: 2196
Although not every run of the benchmark produces identical numbers the same differences between each firmware are reliably apparent in every test - CM11 has much poorer 2D performance but slightly better 3D. CM has better CPU score but worse Mem and slightly worse I/O scores.
CM 10.1.3 benchmark
Same benchmark, same conditions but this time it's CM 10.1.3 which is the last official stable CM release for the GT-N7000. This time I installed Lanchon's FPBug fix kernel so as to avoid bricking the device right before I sell it... http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ernel-fpbug-stable-4-x-kernel-galaxy-t2978107
Code:
Overall: 3765
CPU: 7135
Mem: 2324
I/O : 6094
2D: 314
3D: 2147
These were the best results of 5 runs, all were similar.
The most striking thing is that in CM 10.1.3 2D and 3D performance are excellent, comparable to or even marginally better than stock. CPU score is great. I/O not great but not terrible. Memory score ...oh dear - really bad every time, even worse than CM11 and that was poor already.
Probably in real use the most visible difference to us users is that 2D performance is excellent - no lagging, no jerkiness, no stutters - a really snappy feel. KitKat was a giant leap backwards in this respect.
10.1.3 feels nice and usable so my next post will be one more set of benchmarks in 10.1.3 with JB gapps installed, my google account set up and all my usual apps installed, and everything up to date, as far as is possible.
CM 10.1.3 + Gapps benchmark
CM 10.1.3 with Gapps and Rekey patch. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.rekey.rekey
Code:
Overall: 3599
CPU: 7161
Mem: 2368
I/O : 6004
2D: 317
3D: 2147
The undisputed best performer is Samsung Touch Wiz JB 4.1.2, and by a very long way.
Lollipop Benchmarks
I noticed Bauner's NightOwl LP 5.1 (unofficial CM 12.1) got an update this week so I installed it and benchmarked it. As above, totally default except Quadrant installed and my wifi connected. No Gapps:
Code:
Overall: 4577
CPU: 11438
Mem: 3206
I/O : 5853
2D: 235
3D: 2152
This is the only ROM, so far, whose overall benchmark score is better than stock Samsung Jelly Bean. The 2D performance and Mem scores are still poor and the CPU score seems remarkably high and I wonder if it is reliable or credible. I will try Antutu next to see if it produces similar remarkable differences.

The cpu scores can be higher, because my higher thermal throttling values.
With the stock values the cpu is running very fast into thermal throttling.
The differences in I/O and memory scores can be come because lollipop is much more complex and there are running much more services in the background.
It would be very interesting to see the results with the raw kernel.
If there the scores for I/O and mem are higher I should check which changes in my kernel are causing the regression
OK the thermal throttling explains a lot.
Last night I ran antutu on JB and on NightOwl. My Note actually became so hot after these benchmarks on LP that I shut it down immedaitely afterwards. Not warm, but actually hot (this in a room at about 15 C). Running Samsung JB it is usally cool to the touch and occasionally gets slightly warm. Perhaps there is a happy medium range that doesn't lead to such experiences? I would hate to run this in a hot climate (I once killed a £1300 laptop by trying to save a few pennies on AC in Bangkok... ha ha lesson learned).
I will do some more tests this evening or tomorrow (family day out today) and will include raw kernel.

This values should not harm your device. I'm using it for a long time, and also with many hours of cpu stress testing. The overheat protection values are not changed.
see http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note/general/antutu-benchmarks-nightowl-lp-12-1-vs-t3093720 for antutu benchmarks (ongoing).
