HI EVERY ONE!
i have HTC HD2 TAIWAN MAKE My Serieal Number is >> HT03ANW01078 recently HTC Launch UPgrade for HTC HD2 O2 Network but unfortunatly that upgration is for NON TAIWAN HAND SETS. whenever i try to enter my ROM VERSION Number which is this 1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE
Htc System's says this upgrade is not available for this MAKE. any one can help me.
and MY MAJOR PROBLEM is ....MY HAND SET reception problem. in 1 MIN my dozen of Times my HAND set disconnect from O2 Network. please if there is any solution so please find out for me thanks.

If you want so bad to try other radios in order to see if you can get better reception, you will need to install HSPL and flash several radio roms to see which one gets you the best results.
All the info you can find in the sticky threads in the HD2 > Rom Development forums section

If the update is for rom version 1.72.xxxx WWE i wouldn't bother. It's the same as 1.66 except it's sim locked and branded. Your better off staying with what you have or if you are desperate to do an update have a look at the custom roms in the rom dev board.

Agreed but i'm on O2 right on the edge of the HSDPA area on my local mast and radio 2.11.50.20 gives me perfect HSDPA signal, brilliant call quality and reasonable battery life (2 days max without a charge on a mixed usage cycle)
I have tried the new 2.12.50.2_2 but that caused my phone to stop sending and receiving text messages properly and also caused some major issues with the rom i use (see my sig) but the signal was better allowing me to get 3G signal in the none 3G capable area a short distance down the road

Disconnect after upgrade WM6

After upgrade to WM6, every time I call or receive the call, the phone will be disconnected.
Anyone has same experience ? And still, the keyboard can freeze if I want to reply a SMS directly I must go back to main menu, open the SMS, then reply.
Same experience here..tried all ROMs but same..
I have been facing exactly the same thing, as far as the Radio at least. I have also tried all sorts of different ROMs, even Radio versions but with no difference. Basically, out of nowhere i find out that my mobile cannot be reached for like hours, although it shows normal reception, until i try to make a call...then it gives me "Operation Failed" and loses the signal...only to start working normal again.
Could this be the beggining of the End for my Hardware or just firmware guys???
Tank you all..
The same thing i have. TyTN lose the signal while the phone call.
ROM: Storm v2.10
Radio: 1.54.30.10
Try this people!!!
I have flashed my TYTN with the original ROM WM6 from HTC below(comes with Radio), and it seems all WELL.
PS: The original WM6 is not the best looking but at least i get to make and receive calls with intergrity now.

Ysut, one has HTC flash screen and one has Imate screen.... Other than that its probably just a few different 3rd party apps( in oz Imate is geared up for Telstra as they distribute Imate phones)... Still badly bloated with network crap. Cheers...

Reception difficulties

UPDATE!!
It seems that a solution for the problems has been found for:
- Reception difficulties
- BAD gsm performance
- No reception on the phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=389601
Please go to this URL, read it, upgrade your broken polaris device and respond in the poll that it either worked for your or didn't

Hi guys,
after upgrading my Polaris from the default supplied rom 1.58.21.23 to the latest 1.64.08.21, I have no reception in my house and even difficult reception on the street.
I reversed back to version 1.58.21.23, but even then, still have issues with reception.
Does anybody have the same problem, or had the same problem and find a fix?
Rroet
Hello,
I do have the same problem, and got it on the same way as you did?
could someone please help us?
Do you have the same difficulty as I do:
I've followed the procedures as described in manuals everywhere:
- remove the memory card
- be happily synced
- start app
- device goes into the tricolor screen
- replug the usb as described on the polaris screen
- Flashing startssss.... goes... goes...
- HANGS at 99%
- Have to do recovery procedure as shown on screen.
- Flashing procedure starts second time
- hits 100%
- Now i've got a bad reception? On my previous polaris (replaced due to a phonespeaker defect) had 2 bars even after upgrading. My new Polaris doesn't have any bars after I upgraded (It did have 2 bars before upgrading)
Any expert here with information?
I'm having the same issue, by upgrading RADIO 1.58.21.23 to the latest 1.64.08.21 I got weak signal on GSM. Two bars on signal icon on the top near the BTS.
I'm using BEPE 0.67 ROM with WM 6.1, downgrading the RADIO doesn't help. I have searched thru this forum and didn't find any relevant solution
I was having the same problem with you. I have tried everything including flashing every rom/radio available and performing hard resets at every stage. Unfortunately, in the end I had to get my cruise replaced.
These are my original Cruise details, just to see if there is anything in common:
HK Traditional Chinese HTC Cruise
1.27.832.1. CHT
01/10/08
1.58.21.23
25.65.30.04H
Very interesting issue
I read this several times in different threads now.
Fortunately myself doesn't suffer this issue and i have
also upgraded to 1.64.08.21. Lucky one.
Maybe one should start a poll about this
Would be nice to know the results.
Olioaglio
I have this issue too after Hard-SPL and ASerg Rom, I have problems in o2 German network... very weak signalstrength 1/4 or mostly 0/4 (no network, denied).... i tried original radio 1.58.21.23 and 1.64.08.21 any1 know what could have happened? can a rom upgrade damage the radio hardware in any way? would be hard to believe... with german's BASE i have at least from 2/4 to 4/4 signal strength and sometimes I even get 3G... in my old o2 orbit (artemis) everything is at max strength
I have the same problem after flashing the 1.64.08.21 radio. Is there no solution?
I guess I am lucky, but with 1.64.08.21 and Bepe's 0.67 ROM I don't have any problems. There is no change at all. Signalstrength is the same, 3G is working fine.
1.64.08.21 and Bepe's 0.67 ROM
Me too
I have the o2 orbit 2 (POLA200)

Strange, I'm using also 1.64.08.21 and it's working like a charm... I do have another network provider (KPN, not t-mobile). Have 4 bars reception... Never had real problems with the reception too...
POLA100 (Touch cruise). Only my flash of radio succeeded in 1 time (not had to reboot before hitting the 100%). Also The Netherlands, so it doesn't seem to be country bounded.
Does it find your network? (Menu => settings => Phone (on personal tab)) then choose tab Network.
Current network: T-mobile
Network selection: Automatic
You can try Find Netwok over there, or Set network. Please also check the tab "Band", should be on Auto (both options).
My problem is when I manually check networks, I can find KPN NL and Orange NL everywhere, but not T-Mobile or Vodafone.. whilest on my wife's Vox I have 3 bars of network, on my N73 (nokia) I have 3-4 bars as well.
VERY ODD!
is it possible radio of pola100 and pola200 are different, even they share the same version number?

Could be, but then again, Rroet and I are having the same devices (pola100), are living in the same country, having the same radio version (the 1.64.08.21), the only difference is that he has another provider (which I can find if I search for networks)

In June I will switch network (to Vodafone)... I hope it all keeps working... Really strange that you can't find your network anymore. If I scan for networks I see them all (also Vodafone and T-Mobile).
(Think you've allready done this) but what will happen if you give your device a hard reset, or flash Windows Mobile again to your mobile... This because I'm having the same device, can find your network and having the same radio version.
hi there!
I unfortunately got the same issue.
I got a XDA Orbit 2 from O2 Germany. Did the hardspl unlock(used the tool from olipro) after that i flashed the bepe 0.67 premium bepe rom.
Right now my orbit is disconnected most of the time, or has real bad signal strength. It would be very great if this can be fixed.
Greets
EDIT:
flashed the 1.64.08.21 got the same prob.
Got another orbit2 with everything in original delivery state. is there a possibility to "clone" the device back to original state?
I got very bad reception when update radio 1.64.08.21 . it frequenly lost connection when I got phone call , tried to downgrade and no result
I have vodafone simcard and now I must force to swich to 3g connection to make a phone call . when Iam on gsm I conldnot make any phone call at all , I am now just wait and see someone smart to show me how to correct this trouble
the phone work on my 3 sim but it is not as good as it was before
To make it complete: I have the O2 Orbit 2 (german) (POLA200) and I
have ugraded to the 1.64.08.21 without glitches (worked at first time,
did it through bootloader mode) and it is working with the same (good)
reception as it did before (phuuuh). Maybe it has something to do with
the flash problems at first time, which some users had. Could someone
sort it out? It's really goring, that even (successful) backflash to the stock
radio does not seem to fix the issue like the Poll indicates
Olioaglio
Edit: using Bepe 0.64 GER Opera with the Orbit2 ATM.
Edit2: Thought it might be a good idea to crosslink this thread to the
Polaris Radio ROMs thread to get things together.
What about the IMEI number btw?
I don't know if this is what happens by default, but my IMEI number is 2 digits longer in the software, then it is in the hardware:
example of my hardware IMEI: 123
in software it reads 12301
Does this matter in any way?
Interesting stuff... as Olioaglio said maybe there´s a relation to how it was flashed. If it was clean install or the process had to be repeated. Can anyone with this problem report back on this issue. I tried the new radio here in Spain but I went back to the stock radio as it seemed to have a better reception and battery life. I must admit I´m rather cautious about trying different radios as I fried my Hermes due to the radio and now it can´t connect at all.
I've had no problems/glitches during the flash process but I have the same reception problems as everyone else. Even using a friend's SIM with a different carrier made no difference in reception.

Terrible connection strength

Since I took advantage of the orange ****-up and moved to O2, i just cant make phone calls from home.
From other places its fine, but at home its awful.
I have tried the O2 sim in another phone and its perfect, so I dont think its the phone masts.
I have spoken to O2 and they tell me the account is provisioned but unavailable to send my HTC the settings as they dont support the phone at all.
Is there anything I can do?
Sometimes it happens, you can always try a different radio. Some radios will improve reception in different areas. As an extra quirk, some can even improve battery life!
Take a look here for more info:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_Radio
Just a word of caution however, you might want to get your HD Security unlocked first before flashing a new radio.
Can you list what ROM/loader/radio version you're using (I assume that you've unlocked an Orange handset)? Sometimes if you've got mixed up versions, the signal quality will suffer - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=557843 for someone with a similar problem after flashing their phone.
Different phones will always show some variation in connectivity; it's just a fact of life - but at most about 30% variation. If your other handset has 5 bars and the HD has one or zero, something is wrong with it. Also, since your handset is unlocked it might help to try a payg SIM from another operator (getting a free SIM is easy, and if you don't make calls it won't cost you to stick it in and look at the signal). We carry one from every operator, just in case we're stuck in a region with bad coverage and need to call someone urgently.
More info
I have tried a few different ROMs but currently using Duttys 6.5 R12 revised rom.
Radio is currently 1.14 but I have tried 1.16 in the past with no improvement.
My handset is unlocked (using the link on this forum).
In the other phone (an old Nokia) its perfect signal, 5 bars, but in the HD it ranges from 4 bars to none and all inbetween, quickly changing all the time too.
I might try and get hold of a PAYG O2 sim and see if thats any different.

Read through that and my bootloader screen is fine and shows SPL 1.56 Olinex security unlocked.
So I dont think thats the problem.
I have the same problem!
Got the HD yesterday, and reception goes from 0 to 4 bars all the time. When sim is in my other pdas it fine. I have an unlocked HD on o2.
My bootloader screen shows SPL-1.54.0000
Tried an orange sim and got 4 bars
Telephone connectin strength
I have the same problem.
At home impossible to call. On the road connection is regularly lost (when moving from one ground station to the next I suspect). This feels like the coverage problems in de mid 90s.
ROM 1.56.404.1
Radio 1.13.25.24
Provider Proximus
New sim did not help

No ROM update for Telstra users

HTC and/or Telstra are too lazy it seems to give their paying customers an update to the HD2 in Australia. I'm on 1.49.841.1 (71528) WWE but would very much like to go to the 1.66. Upon putting in my serial number to the HTC website to download, it gives me a big fat NO.
Anyone know a workaround for this? Installing a custom ROM is not an option. I don't trust this thing enough to void my warranty.
I have written to HTC for an explanation, will post if I get a reply
I too have a HD2 on Telstra here in Australia and would like to try new ROMs.
Also just a question regarding the Next G network... On my old phone (Nokia 6120c) it showed a 3G icon with signal stength when using that network. My HTC shows that 3G is available but I'm not entirely sure its connected to Next G network. It shows the old antenna symbol with signal strength.
Any thoughts appriciated.

Phone(Radio) not working - Tried various ROM/Radio

Hello,
Basically at first, my HD2 had a problem with voice reception on other end, sent it to Hong Kong for Warranty, came back with reception good but device constantly restarting, turns out it needed a new Board, send it back to HK for a New Board, came back with a New board.
And now the Phone does not work.
I have tried the following official ROMS :
_HTC
HD2_RUU_Leo_HKCSL_WWE_1.72.831.1_Radio_CRC_Signed_15.32.50.07U_2.07
.51.22_2_Ship - "X" on the phone icon, cant detect sim at all, will
not let me turn Phone on with wireless controls
_HTC
HD2_RUU_Leo_S_HKCSL_WWE_3.14.831.3_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LE
O_S_Ship
"Operation failed" while trying to make a call.
I have tried custom Roms, the current one I am using is the Maelus ROM, 3.2.2
And details on my boot up are :
2.08.50 05
15 34 50 07u
3.14 04666 8G
I even tried Task29 before flashing to the Maelus ROM.
It just doesn't let me turn my Phone on, whenever I go into the settings, and the phone is off, and I tap it, the little progress swirly thing appears in the middle of the screen, then stops and the phone does not go to the "ON" position.
With all those 3 roms I've tried (2 of the official HK ones from HTC Website), and also the Maelus custom rom, I cannot get the Phone to work.
It only worked once when i got the phone back on a good reception area, but now here I can't even actually turn the phone on.
Could anybody Reccomend me a Custom ROM + Radio Version to switch to, i don't know if the official ones didn't work I don't know what to do.
at the moment I got Maelus ROM on with the radio 2.08.50 05, I'm going to upgrade the radio to a slightly newer one to see if that helps. my HTC is on charge at the moment.
Has anybody experienced this issue before, and know any fix? I'm willing to try anything.
Thanks.
EDIT - Actually the Phone does turn on, e.g I can slide the slider on the options to "ON", but it does not pick up the carrier/provider or get any signal, any suggestions welcome.
time to return it again. Just make sure to put on a stock rom/radio/spl before you do so
Trying a newer radio is all you can do as far as software goes as the radio is the software side of what controls reception on your phone. Go to the HTC HD2 Master Radio Thread and download the newer versions of radios. There is eight radio versions newer than the one you have so I would just start at the Leo_RADIO_2.10.50.19_2 and work my way up to the Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14**. If none of the eight radios solve your issue than download the official stock ROM for your HD2 from HTC. com using your serial number from your HD2 to confirm it is the ROM for your HD2 and the go to the Flash your ROM/Radio via microSD thread to learn how to flash it via SD card so you will be reverted back to complete stock ROM, SPL, radio, and Splash screen. Then send it back for further repairs as it is no more you can do software wise. Good luck hope you get your HD2 working properly again.
Thanks for the reply.
I really don't know what to do other than try different radios, it seems that the people in Hong Kong that work for HTC don't know how to repair phones, it's been returned to me from warranty twice with defects that weren't present in the first place. They fix one defect and it comes back with another.
It seems to not get any signal in some areas where previously it would e.g in lower signal suburbs it gets NO SIGNAL at all, i'm wondering if there is some aerial unit that they forgot to plug in on the board or something, or is it all integrated.
It's so annoying as they want me to pay them to send it back, so I use about $60 to and from every time, and it's about a 3-4 month wait every time. I don't know if I should request they just give me a whole new phone because nothing seems to be right.
I think the SPL program by Cotulla now has the option to put a factory SPL back on.

Wow that is crap man! It cost you 60 bucks to ship it to them and then 3 to 4 months before you get it back, that is totally unacceptable to me. I would most definitely request a replacement if I was you and tell them that you want the phone shipped to you with return shipping already paid so all you have to do is ship them your current HD2 back to them after you have received the replacement HD2. If you have had to wait that long and pay 60 bucks twice then I feel like you are entitled to a replacement HD2 as they twice have not returned a working HD2 to you.
Yes the HSPL utility by Cotulla does allow you to revert back to a factory SPL, but I suggest you use the SD card flashing method as it insures that you install the correct SPL for the ROM you flash, unless you know the correct SPL you had befor flashing any ROM to your HD2, this is the easiest eway of reverting your HD2 to total stock. One process vs two processes if you flash the ROM via USB.
The radio isn't the problem, if your issue was reception, or battery drain, then yea, it could be the radio, but the symptoms you describe can't be radio version related.
I'd be screaming @ the repair shop that sent you back a defective unit.
I do have an question from a friend of mine wondering about this: If he got an HTC HD2 T-Mobile version (unlocked), and he want to use the 3G AT&T bands (he is currently under their contract), is there a radio file he can use to unlock the bands so he can use the 3G network rather be stuck on EDGE? Also this is proven not to brick the device (a radio version that users on this site are using themselves to make this possible)?
If so, can someone point me in the right direction on acquiring the file? The device already has the HardSPL installed and it is running a cutomized Windows Mobile 6.5.3 ROM image (I did this for him so he can have the better ROM than the stock T-Mobile version). The SIM is unlocked as he is using it on AT&T but he is only on EDGE for now. Thank You very much

can can not use ATT 3G bands on a tmobile HD2, it doesn't have the hardware to support it.
Hi,
Well an update, I took the phone to a local repair shop, and surprise surprise, the antenna wasn't even connected, it was broken in half the antenna clip, so I had to pay $200 to get that fixed....... the signal is good, but at times it will drop out, whether the initial breakage of the antenna caused it to be not so good even when repaired I don't know, they put a whole new antenna in though, maybe the refurbished board that HTC HK Put in (The repair guy said they use Refurb boards), is causing the problem.
So HTC is a slack company, that can't employ people to properly repair their phones, just putting it out there. They say they can't replace the phone.
I am thinking of selling this one and getting a T-Mobile one (I am in Australia), is there any advantage of getting a T-Mobile other than the added 1024mb Memory? Does it have better signal or run faster? I want another HD2 so wondering which flavor I should get if it comes to that.
Thanks.
Hi. I am not sure that the 1024 is limted on other devices if you hack the Bootloader and put in a different ROM version. I believe the official ROM for the devices native to your country locks out the remaining ROM space, as it may do with the amount of RAM as well. I would have to look that up. I assume that most HTC HD2 handsets would be built generally the same (with the exception of the GSM chip as I have been informed).
The T-Mobile version, i believe will not allow you to use the 3G bands in your country if you are using Telstra Wireless (unless it uses the 1700 mhz spectrum as well as the 850 for its 3G). In the USA the equivolent would be AT&T and i have also been informed that the T-Mobile version HD2 will not pick up the band, no matter what you may try to do (like flashing the radio firmware).

I am thinking of selling this one and getting a T-Mobile one (I am in Australia), is there any advantage of getting a T-Mobile other than the added 1024mb Memory? Does it have better signal or run faster? I want another HD2 so wondering which flavor I should get if it comes to that.
Thanks.

As you live in Australia I suggest you get a Telstra HD2 if 3G is important to you. If not go for the T-Mobile HD2 it is great, but then again I have never used any other HD2.
