i used tone picker and set my ringtone via the settings menu and it seems to work.. also use it to set indiv. ringtones for contacts and those are working as well.. it could be your memory card is bad? or is the tone on the internal sd card?

i think vibration can be set in the notification settings, its a simple checkbox.
no about the mp3 alarms, but just play the mp3 on your computer and record it to a wav file using sound recorder, (about 21kbps works well for desent size / quality) its almost as good.
the song that plays for alarms can be set when setting the alarm just click on the little bell icon,
how to set so that PhoneAlarm controls the sms tones?I set PhoneAlarm to play sounds from Storage folder(not storage card),but it keeps playing the windows default sound.Even after i "disable" the default ring from "Sounds & Notifications",my Xda mini would somehow "reactivate" the sound setting back.
or is there any setting that will allow me to play sms tones from Storage?
any help would be appreciated.

Simply point & hold on the MP3 you want set as your ringtone and a pop=up menu appears, in which there is an option to set it as your ringtone.
With regards to your SMS notification - you have to copy the MP3 to the Windows folder on the phone and then select it via Start-Settings-Sounds & Notifications.
I tried everything, to put mp3 in windows/rings, in winndows , and in my documents/my ringtones and nothing. When i go to the sound options i can set it for phone ringtone but when i choose new text message there is no mp3
think only ringtones can be mp3 think other notifications have to be wav

Not really true I don't know the reason for this but sometimes for notifications to recognize Mp3's you can either place the Mp3 on the root of the SD card or place in the /windows directory which you can acess it from a software called Total Commander.
Hope it helps
When I go to Call settings and then Ringtons and keypad tones in an attempt to change my ringtone I get "android.process.media" has stopped. Any ideas?
I also get an error when I try to set a song as ringtone via the Music app.
