HELP!
I'm new to the whole mobile email thing. I recently bought an 8525 and I'd really like to set it up for push email but I just don't have a good understanding of what to do and how to do it.
Can someone point me in the right direction? Is there a wiki for mobile email? I have about a half dozen POP3 accounts now that I'm accessing via Outlook 2003 on my PC.
Thanks in advance
Dave the Noob!
Hi Dave...i feel this is something which isnt particularly documented in the wiki so you wont get a standard "Read the wiki etc.." reply hehe
The BEST thing i ever did was to get a gmail account, and route ALL my emails through it, by applying tags to the emails you receive you can easily tell which account they are from. Pop3 accounts can be checked at regular intervals by gmail so no problem there, and if you filter them appropriatly you can get certain emails pushed to your phone via an exhcnage account. You can get a free push email account (exchange account) using mail2web.com's service.
The best thing about doing this is gmail's spam filter works VERY well, and you get 2GB of space.
I personally get selected emails routed to my push account (kindly provided by walshieau....not a public service) , and also the exchange account holds my contacts and appointments.
After a ROM flash all i gotta do is sync with the exchange account and my contacts/emails and appointments are restored.
does anyone know how to link up all your emails to one universal inbox a la blackberry??
The E-mail application has a combined inbox and combined starred.

But its not combined with google right? I see a separate app for Google push mail.
Just configure Gmail (using your PC) and add your various email accounts ("Accounts and import" settings tab). It automatically adds different labels for each email, thus on your Android phone you will see each email message in your inbox labeled accordingly. It is also good to check the "Reply from the same address the message was sent to"
check box in "Accounts and import" settings tab(using your PC).
This is how I used my G1 before selling it in order to buy a Nexus One
I realize that this is a google question, but also I noticed that on the N1 gmail client, I am NOT receiving the imported/forwarded mail from my old outside POP3 accounts that are normally (still) pulled into my web-based list of new mail on my primary gmail account.
Does anyone know why, or if there is a way to to fix this? The imported messages are not being pushed to the N1.
[UPDATE: It seems to have taken a while, but all of my imported POP3 mail is now being imported/pushed from my primary gmail account to the N1... thank you gmail!]
Unified email
Hey everyone! my friend and i have hd2's but he has 6 email accounts and he was asking me is there a way to make all his emails come into one inbox like on blackberries...i suppose its called "unified email"
ive been using windows mobile for a year now and i cant seem to find a way to "unify" the emails..is there a way for this to be done?
thank you
btw he has the stock tmobile rom,
which would be windows phone 6.5

I don't know of a specific way to do this on WinMo; however, a work around would be to setup a GMail account (or Hotmail, Yahoo, whichever) and configure that to download email from the six accounts.
Once you have done this, you would only need to setup the Gmail (or other) account on your phone and everything should all come down in one place.
Not really a cure, but a solution nonetheless.
Re: Unified Email
I've used Flexmail for this purpose. It can integrate yahoo, gmail, hotmail, and other types of POP mail accounts and send them to you via imap push. With Flexmail, you can set rules for incoming emails so that they automatically sort into folders on your phone. I like it a lot.

Flexmail was excellent when I used it on a Treo Pro. I've installed it on my HD2 and found it was not at all useable without a D-pad. I just couldn't get it to work right.

Gmail does everything you listed as well via pop, imap push, and exchange for free. If you use the exchange setup you can sync your calendar and contacts as well, works great.
Great recommendation by Franwella.
Hi,
I use Gmail for this too, works well.
using Gmail is the right solution. I'm using it and it's a lot confortable.
bye

Hi,
I am using HTC HD2. I can't send and receive email via outlook. I can receive email to my yahoo, gmail and hotmail accounts. But I can't receive and send via outlook. My email address on outlook are nameatmydomaindotcom but all use gmail servers. I have canceled email sync when synchronising, then chose again to refresh the settings, it made worse.
I would like to send email, receive email via outlook and also I would like to choose email I want send from via outlook. I could send email before canceling email sync. But it was going only from default account.
Can anyone help me please? Thanks.
As far as im aware you cant even edit the outlook accoutn settings, which is annoying as this used to work for me on older phones.
I have to send/receive via individually setup accounts, and then re-receive them to outlook on my PC and sync then over.
I have about 4 differen temail accounts, so this is the only way it works for me.
Thanks for reply. Sorry but, I am not good at using technology. Would you please tell me step by step? And at the end of this, will I be able to send receive via outlook on my phone? Or I will need to sync always. Thanks
no, as far as i'm aware you cant add an account for outlook on the phone, you will still have to sync
im syncing my phone outlook with gmail just calendar and emails with this settings. All emails from different adresses a coming to gmail then to phone when it arriv.

But I also use outlook on my pc. Does this affect my outlook on pc to divert outlook emails to gmail? If it is just for phone, it is okay. Otherwise it will be confusing for me.
correct they both a using same settings.
Thanks.
I have tried to do it. But on the screen of my phone, "active sync" screen, i cant see any "edit server settings". there are just "sync" and "menu" on the bottom. and everything in "menu" is closed, i can't choose any of them. What shall i do now?
Hi,
I've recently synchronised my email accounts to my HTC but I notice that when I delete emails from my hotmail account they are still there when I log into Hotmail on my computer. They seem to delete locally only.
How would I go about setting it up so that the emails are deleted from the server wwhen I click 'delete'
many thanks to anyone who knows the answer to this one
