Help With Firmware - XPERIA X10 General

Hi got my phone on uk t-mobile it came with the build number R1FA014 - x10i i done the debranding tut and now im on R1FA016 - x10i
My question is is this the best firmware if not what is?
and should i still be able to update from se
Thanks in advance

16 is the current uk fw version.. but R2FB020 is due out (today!)... so if it actually gets release to SEUS today, as promised, then you will get that.

Don't know about the best firmware...but the latest is R2BA020 as far as I know. And I'm guessing new is better

This topic wasn't obvious enough for you?

Go to the decrypted roms thread in there, on the first page, I think the second post had all the rom links. Depending on debranding method

thanks for that is the best way to do it with flash tool is there any chance i could muck this up

yup.. u could end up brickin ya phone via flashin.. its risky! id rather just wait a day and get our proper update. all the others are different countries so you'll prob end up with some next apps that you wouldnt want. anywayz decision is yours!

Yes there is always that possibility. Just be sure read the instructions carefully and follow them. If you are not sure about something, don't do it, research it more then do it.
You do need to realize that there is a possibility that you could brick your phone doing this. But done correctly the chance is low, just hope the power doesn't go out half way through lol

so will i just be able to update from se with the current firmware that i have?

If se releases the official update in your country, then I don't see why not. But you must wait for them
Do some searching around this forum, you will prob find these questions have already been asked and answered

Help X10 1.6 -> 2.1 (AT&T) Carriar

Hi, i barly got my phone 2 days ago and i been researching on how to update it. I have AT&T provider in U.S.
I see people have debranded, flash, rooted....i can't tell the difference between what this is. And most refer their x10 as an x10a (most likely they have Rodgers as carrier (Canada if i am correct).
Can someone please guide me through updating my SE Xperia x10 1.6 -> 2.1.
I'd like to update it so i can still receive updates from SE website if that is possible. I am new to smart phones and don't know where to start really, if someone can guide me that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Ok to update your phone head to the Sony Ericson website and download PC companion http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup.../detailed/pccompanion/xperiax10us?cc=us&lc=en and it will talk you through the update process. Really it's very easy. There are plenty of custom roms out there now and if your feeling up to it iv made a guide to walk you through just follow the link from my signiture. The x10 comes in 4 main forms x10i (Europe) x10a (america and south American nations) there's a japenesse version (docamo, can't remember precise spelling sorry) and x10 HD which comes with 2.1 pre installed. I hope this information helps you along your journey of exploration of smart phones and believe me you made a good choice getting an x10 and with news of getting a gingerbread update in the summer I'm sure you'll feel very satisified with your phone very soon

Wait a minute. He said he has AT&T, which means that PC Companion or SEUS will be of no help to him. AT&T is still on 1.6.
@101381
What you need to do is check your private messages. I will send you a detailed guide that I have helped many fellow AT&T users with.
Btw, X10a "a" is for Americas. We broadcast on different frequencies.
Why don't you post the guide here?
Then every at&t user could update easily

Because I would get 50 replies saying that there are tons of threads on this already, use search button, and mods please delete.
However, there are just as many new threads like this one, so you have a point. Just have my back when all the flamers and whiners chime in.
Will do tomorrow. Let me clean it up a bit and add some stuff on root, xrecovery, JIT and removing apps.

Please don't spam our new users thread up, there is no need. I was trying to help and I honestly didn't know at & t were still stuck on 1.6 so PC companion wouldn't work and I adviced to the best of my knowledge.
I don't apriciate your comments and remarks towards me and you should speek with more respect towards your fellow and more senior members.

Your the one who went off topic on me. There was no need for your reply. Treat me with respect and I will return the favor. This is not the first time you've jumped in personally on me. I love how you spam at will, then jump on others for it.

All I said was same attitude. There is nothing offensive in that. Everyone has an attitude. Do you not like yours or something? Now if I used an adjective in front of attitude I could see your point. Heck, I even put a wink and a smile, meaning all in good fun.
Once again, you don't have to get so defensive. Lighten up. After all, now you are the gingerbread man. Great new name btw. ))

Problem with your guide is that my X10 is still on 1.6 and I can't seem to get xRecovery on my phone.
You wont if your on 1.6, you need to download a global generic Sony firmware and flash it with the flash tool, then root and install xrecovery with flashtool and start my guide for custom rom from my guide if your feeling up to it.

Also, I am betting they have already visited those threads. I even use them in my guide. The problem with the guides is they don't explain the steps, which for someone trying this the first time is not helpful, even frightening. It takes an experienced noob to explain it to a noob.
EDIT: Here is the link to my guide that I posted at FLO's request.

Questions from newbie

Just got an x10 few days ago and having some silly questions now.
About the bootloader,is it finally unlocked or cracked?
Which rom in your view do the best for a newbie x10 user?
2.3.4 or 2.3.3 will be released?
Any good thread to refer to for a newbie?
Thanks

First things first, 歡迎中伏 (welcome to the death trap)
The bootloader is impossible to crack in the foreseeable future, unless SE gives us the unlock. However there is the bypass being worked out which allows us to side load kernels.
As for roms, the 2.2 ones are quite neat, and the GB update is just around the corner.

Hi, and welcome to the x10 community.
As far as we know, the bootloader HAS NOT been cracked or unlocked.
In my opinion, the best newbie rom would be Zidzihu's FreeX10 beta 4. Have a look in the dev section for it. Make sure you read up on rooting, xRecovery, Roms, and flashtool before attempting to flash anything. We are expecting the update to 2.3.3 to roll out in the coming few weeks, maybe sooner.
There is a sticky in the general section that has a lot of useful and important information in it, just have a quick look at that.

I've been asking, for a month or more, for someone to please post a stock T-Mobile US 4.1.2 backup so I can restore to (close to) factory stock. Yet no one has come around... Who wants to take credit for being the first? You will help many, I'm sure.

Judging by your post history, I don't think you realize there's an entire specific T-Mobile HTC One section, located here. You probably want to post your question there or search through those threads for what you're looking for.

Also, thanks for the link...but I see this in the thread:
"This is RUU?
No it's a rom from a Chinese site built off of 2.19 and 2.17"
I want to return the phone to a stock T-Mobile rom so I can get OTA updates as they become available.
Is this still possible? My signal strength is horrible right now. Having to rely on wi-fi calling much of the time...

Just use a 4.2.2 rom because your going to wait a while for updates on tmobile.

There are a couple of threads pertaining to restoring back to stock T-Mobile. There is no RUU, yet. So you'll have to restore a backup someone posted, restore stock recovery and relock your booyloader to apply the OTA updates after you restore however.
