iPhone 4 camera suffers from the 'splodge'. - HD2 General

I thought it would be interesting to share that it seems like the iPhone 4 suffers also from a far from perfect camera, in this video it appears to have a nasty blue hue in the center of the video.
This isn't intended as an iPhone 4 bashing thread, so please don't waffle on about how you hate the iPhone, it was just an interesting observation I thought I'd share.

There's also a problem with the antenna in the new iPhone.
Let's face it: there is just no perfect phone! ;-)

I am sure that there are plenty of forums for iPhone users to discuss the faults of their phone - so I think that is where this thread should be.
I will show no schadenfreude at the iPhone's problems. As much as I don't like the total control of Apple, they did revolutionise the mobile phone interface.

ugh! Pee stains. I guess someone left a surprise from foxconn. =P

I disagree, my Nokia 8210 works perfectly and has a battery life which has to seen to believed lol.
I do think it's a 'sign of the times' companies are just 'pushing the envelope' instead of evolving exsisting technology to perform more efficiently. It does make for very interesting tech though .

How??
Camera and reception problems!!!!!
I wonder how r they gonna fix those???

This is just brilliant, Steve Jobs, I salute you!

I've been hearing about the problems with the signal for the last couple of days.
It would appear that Apple are not satisfied with just telling Developers what and how to develope apps for their phone but now they feel the need to tell the end customer how to use the phone as well lol.
A more appropriate name for the iPhone 4 would have been 'iCommunist 4' lol.
On a side note, if the drop in signal is caused by the users hand conductivity, I would suggest just coating the effected area of the phone in a clear lacquer and this should resolve the issue.

Omg, that is simply amazing! Steve even tells you how to hold the phone correctly, "Just avoid holding it in that way." ROFL!

What gets me is how review after review continue to rave how great the new iphone is without a whisker of a thought as to the negatives.
Its time that reviewers got of their high horse and thoroughly reviewed the iphone worts and all.
But wait....its steve jobs baby so any negative would see a defamation case against reviewer...
Not to bash iphone or anything but did you guys hear the crap with that photons thing on the camera technology in new iphone..
The apple fans would have been salivating big time with that hoopla from jobs...
but wait.....
Jobs now wants iphone 4 users to hold their gem in a unique aficionado way...what next?

Simplest solution of mine: DO NOT OWN IT, SO WON'T TOUCH IT AT ALL.
Now, HTC, when will you guys release the GSM version of the Evo 4G, quick!

You do realize this is a HD2 forum, right? And what does this have to do with the HD2? And you say you don't want to hear about people hating the iphone, yet you post this in a WinMo phones forum, where most people probably either hate the iphone or don't care.

It's a bit silly to hate a phone isn't it?

"There's an app for that...."

Got an officemate who was showing off his "upgraded" 3GS with multitasking. Just told them I already had that about 10 yrs ago with my Orang Tanager Windows Mobile. He wasn't even sure if he could close the running apps or just hide it.

My gf walked past the Apple store in Milton Keynes yesterday.
They had barriers outside to cope with 70-80 people.
There was 1 person in the queue!
The shop was open and had only about 10 people inside (including staff) but like an unpopular nightclub, they were forcing people to wait outside in a failed attempt to look like they were busy

What a bargain...

Actually, I think the iPhone took a lot from older HTC phones and put it in their own package.

I understand what you are talking. In my opinion, Iphone also trying to be more like windows. Apple tried very hard to add Microsoft office into their phone. And they also start to open their app to 3rd party (windows had done it long time ago). I think that each phone is trying to add as much as ability they can to become the most powerful phone. It is hard to say which phone copy which phone.
i think we shouldnt start the old iphone discussion again, but:
The iphone was more innovative than any other phone. Appel was the first that realised that mobile Internet will be the future.
But i wont even buy a iphone, okay
But what the hell did htc with windows mobile, its unbelievable and great, so please hack that **** and make me cab or buy me a Diamond

Holy crap! Apple invented mobile internet!!
IMO....
I don't think it wants to be an iPhone but an iPhone killer. Personally I (for the first time) skipped a generation and didn't get a Kaiser upgrade from my Hermes (AT&T branded) as it didn't seem as impressive as the upgrade from my Wizard to the Hermes... actually my Wizard from the Blue Angel was the most impressive jump, then I met Jose Faria ...
The HTC Raphael (Diamond with a keyboard) is definitely worth the wait I believe.
As for the iPhone, big deal. To me it's just an iPod that can phone home. The browser IS nice but that's about it. As a phone it sucks. Edge sucks. No DirectPush email sucks (so what that it'll be available in June or so they say) And the lack of a real keyboard.... SUCKS! Very few people I know are really happy with their iPhones, but then that's probably just the crowd I hang with...
Just my two cents ...

simply no
their have been a handful of phones that try to imitate iphone... but the majority that dont far outway the majority that do...
simply put i think users want to imitate the iphone more so than the companies
Personally I believe discussing which phone is best, without specifying your needs, is pointless because it's all due to perspective. However, as far as "comapny's and people trying to imitate." Thank god they are! That's the type of competitive marketing that brings new ideas and technology. Hell, that's why the iPhone is here. So please stop complaining "Th3yr try1ng t0 b3 li3k if0ne!" because after all, the PS3 is just trying to be like Atari!
That being said, I am more interested in the Raphael than the Diamond. I wasn't impressed with trying to use the OEM keyboard on the Touch, so unless they fix that, I'm loving my QWERTY. Although, if they fix it, it WOULD be nice to be able to type single-handedly..

The Truth about the Nexus One. *NON-BIASED*

Now that I have sold my Nexus One. i was very sad immediantly just because the phone was sexy as hell and amazing speed. The college i got accepted to sends all incoming freshmen a iphone 3gs and are required to use it to keep in contact with professors.
Now that thats said i want to continue with whats the truth about the nexus.
1) i had a problem with the headphones along with alot of other people when listening to music threw your headphones that came with the nexus you would get a shock... for me it mostly happend when i was plugged into a computer
2) DUST...omg the dust i got under the corner of the screen was annoying the crap out of me. i couldnt get it sent back because i wanted to keep the engraving on the phone. and i didnt want to wait 2 weeks for them to send me my phone back.
3) the phones speed is AMAZING but i feel as if google hasnt completly utilized the speed and GPU yet. *if they can pull this off, things would be so much better than the iphone*
want to add other things about this phone *without being biased* ? go ahead lets see if we can get some good information in here for new android users
Yeah...
Non-biased my ass. The only thing the iPhone does better than the N1 is the app store. To say they need to work on their GPU is just a pathetic representation of a review...
I'm not even going to try wasting my time to make this a worthwhile thread. OP, you're just... Ugh..
Too LAZY to send it back and wait a couple weeks for a problem... That's YOUR fault. There's policies in place to remedy issues... *****ing isn't the appropriate remedy.
P.S. Shocking from earbuds happens with more than just the stock headphones. Go google it.
they need to fix the dust under the screen issue.
!maybe a way to upscale low res images from the interwebs so they don't look like ass on the high res display!
but honestly, i have been more then happy with my Nexus after selling my 3GS.

THe headphones that come with the N1 doesn't work well on other standard 3.5mm jacks because the pins are specifically designed for the N1. Apparently if you insert the headphones into your computer half way it should work like normal headphones.

To the OP: cool story, bro.
There was exactly no reason for the OP as he just stated a few well-known issues that people can experience with this phone. Every device has a its own set of issues and the OP will now be fortunate enough to experience the many IPhone problems.

People are growing tired of "it's okay, it's only the internet" as a justification for poor grammar and ill-written thoughts. It is also rather ironic that a person is off for higher education and is unable to use simple words correctly. Perhaps they should be handing out dictionaries and the like rather than iphones...

Let me help you with that since you'll need to know this in college:
i spelt threw wrong....woah! you're big and bad.
Your is a possessive term, where as you're is the conjugation of "you are". So in the future, make sure you check if your usage is right by replacing the term with "you are" and seeing if it makes sense to you.
Anyway dude...bro... you need to grow up and stop acting like an e-Gangsta. To be fair, nothing you posted is anything new. We've all heard it all before and so the thread is a flaming waste of space. That being said, good luck in college.
The phone has a powerful processor and an impressive amount of RAM. I dont think it uses either one nearly to its potential (at least i hope not), which is kind of cool because, although the phone is smooth and fast, the performance ought to be able to be vastly improved with software updates. I like the phone a lot but i also think its fair and justified to expect a lot more from it down the road.
If anyone that knows about hardware can confidently tell me not to expect much more from the device please post that information so that i may sell this phone. thanks
'Through' is the correct spelling. 'Threw' is the past tense of 'throw
"Yesterday, I threw a ball through a hoop."
I'm glad Jesus can afford iphone 3gs's for all students!
Jesus is a baller, lol, im still confused about this dust issue, does anyone have a picture of what this is all about? I got mine the day it launched and I have no idea what people are talking about I havent had any problems with dust and really cant see how it could get under the screen, I keep mine in my pocket every day so Im sure it woulda happened by now if it could. Id also have to agree that the only thing the iphone has is the app store, once androids gets up there it will be a lot better because there's a lot more potential. Id already have to say that handcent, dolphin, and google voice are good examples of that because apple only lets you use their stuff and blocks something if they already have an option is pretty wacksauce in my opinion, why not let the people choose which they like the best, makes no sense to me. Oh well. /rant

The International version (Samsung Galaxy S) and Sprint Epic 4G has front cameras. The Captivate and Vibrant does not.
I honestly don't get all the hype about front cameras. Why? What's the point?
It's new, untouched technology. Just because Apple marketed it doesn't make it a good idea.
Give it a year. I'm sure the "Galaxy S 2" will have one. Doubt it'll be a standard by then anyways though.

Yeah, that's what I used to think until...
I have an iPhone 4 and an i9000 (both have front cameras). I was testing both phones at the same time. I was going to return the iPhone in my first 30 days because iOS4 just isn't up to Android standards in my book. I also have a Nexus One on T-Mo that I mostly use as a WiFi hotspot.
I'd played with FaceTime once with my only other friend to have an iPhone 4. He lives in Florida, I'm in California and we wanted to check it out. No big deal on the first test.
One day I was driving to work and got the clever idea to connect the iPhone to the WiFi hotspot on the Nexus One. I then called my friend in Florida with FaceTime on the iPhone 4 and it worked just great over 3G. (You can also jailbreak the iPhone and use 3G Unrestrictor to just do it directly over the phone).
I had the iPhone 4 in a dash mounted holder and it was so cool. My friend's face was there on the dash and we were like in the car together. I still focused on the road, of course, but I could glance and see his face like you would with someone in the car with you when appropriate.
At one point he even asked where I was and I just switched the camera from front to back with the onscreen button and he then saw out the road as if he were riding in the car with me. Then I switched back.
We both really thought the experience enhanced the quality of our conversation. I decided to keep the iPhone just because of that.
So, yes, it's a new idea, and not a lot of phones have it, but even though Apple's ahead of the curve on that one, once more phones make it that simple to be face to face when you want to, it's going to change everything.
Nothing wrong with wanting a front camera in my opinion; those who do just are a bit more visionary than those who don't care about it yet.

lol! nice.
Btw, I don't really have any feelings about the need for a front-facing camera, but that anecdote about doing an iPhone "video-conference" on the road via N1 WiFi is pretty cool. That' be a great thing to do while traveling.
Great, texting while driving is bad enough, now having a video chat while driving, please God tell me you don't live anywhere near me.

Its not that new. I remember there was hard advertising in 2003 in UK when carrier 3 got the 3g. Apple is always "revolutionizing" technologies that already existed for a while.
For front camera would be great for occasional video over ip calls, such as skype, or what fring did before.

Its not new technology. Hell, landline phones had video capabilities 10+ years ago, it never took off because its a gimmic. Facetime is a gimmic. Sure its nice but you will use it a couple of times for the "cool factor" then it will wear off, just like the Wii did with so many people.

Its not a new idea. How many times do you think you are going to drive with your friend staring at you. Does your friend have a life? Think about what you typed and how funny it sounds...

lol u ****ing crazy....lmao do u have a life? LOL
You hit the nail on the head androidmonkey. I don't think it will last long. Very gimmicky. Now when data speeds catch up that might be a different story.
For example, when phones began including really cheap-ass cameras I thought what a stupid idea. And still did until this last year or so when the quality finally caught up.
The hilarious thing to me is that King Steve in his ivory tower piously looks down upon the masses content that he is keeping them safe from porn not realizing that the#1 use of his new phone is probably NOT facetime but *****time... lol
Thank you Steve, may I have another!

lol, i can see the ads for video chat sex....
Androidmonkey is correct. Video calling has been around for years. Japan (and I believe Europe) has been doing this way before iPhone4. Just because Apple says its revolutionary or magical doesn't mean they did it first. Apple is full of ****. Their marketing team is great at making people into believing what they say. People need to open their eyes. Apple-lovers = lemmings, automatons, etc. And another thing, Facetime over wi-fi is nothing more than video chat like on your pc. Good grief.
What are you guys talking about... I use video calling on my vibrant all of the time. you can clearly see a camera to the left of the speaker

I'm addicted to Android, do I have a problem?

All I talk about is Android is better then ios, do I have a problem?

I guess the new AA will be Android Anonymous haha
The first step is admitting to yourself, god, and another human being that you are powerless against android.
I'm addicted to android to the point of hating WP7 for taking nokia away from us
Yes, you do have a problem. In fact, many who post on xda do. Fortunately, there is hope. Well, actually there isn't but that's what my shrink tells me. Oh well, time to make another Nandroid

I was pissed too. Lol.

The next phase of your andriod addition is to completely omit any mention of Apple or iOS as if they didn't even exist.
Yes you have a problem. It does not matter what phone/OS you use. None of them are better then any other one. They all have good points and bad points. If you find yourself hating one, the problem is that you are inflexible and closed minded.
If that is ALL you talk about, then yes you've got a problem.
There are other things out there: beer, sports, the opposite sex, penguins, etc.
Hi,

Oh goodness... I can only imagine the riot that statement's gonna cause.
I'm open minded to why simple, trendy, non-techie people like iOS. And I feel no hate towards them for it. But for me iOS can't hold a candle to Android. It's all about freedom. Freedom to customize and make the phone your own. Every iphone looks and functions the same, within the safe walls of that garden, unfortunately.

Samsung Note in the Super bowl!

Surprised nobody has commented on this -
Samsung is going to have a NINETY second spot during the superbowl!
A normal 30 second spot costs around 2-3 million bucks, and samsung is buying three of them! Whoa
The commercial is being directed by the Farrely brothers (There's something about mary, etc)

Neat stuff - Glad to see Samsung going full steam ahead with this fantastic device.

Wow I like to see this
not talking on it though
I LOVE my Note but sorry, it looks hilarious holding it to your ear, my wife refers to it as my 'pizza box' Fortunately I use a headset most of the time anyway...
Can't wait to see what Bobby Farrelly cooks up for a tv commercial!
Now that I think about it, considering Something About Mary, Irene, Dumb & Dumber, yeah, he probably *will* have someone holding it to their ear to talk...

That's odd... people normally don't even notice how big the phone is when I'm talking on it... (possibly cos it's mostly hidden by my hands ).
People do, however, notice its size if I'm using it for other stuff like messaging or browsing...
OT: I'm really happy Samsung has been pushing this phone into the mainstream so much. It's an awesome device. And it'll be even greater with all the development support that comes from being a mainstream success.

Not a big fan of the commercial to be honest.
They sure didn't say much for a 90 second spot.
But I guess the whole point is to get people talking about the note, and then the Note will take it from there.
Is it this one?

Yah I was really looking forward to it too, but was a bit disappointed. Not even a mention of the 5.3in screen, just the stylus. The ad missed the mark IMO.

Dont let a Samsung employee hear you calling it a stylus
I hope they do something outrageous about it like it having a dual personality, a phone and a tablet, and it falls in love with an iPhone and follow it across the country. Oh wait, they already did that.
EDIT: ARRGH, my post is too late.
GIANTS won! Yeaaaaaa
Thought it was great! Really makes people think about a bigger better option, the Note. No hard sell just fun and entertainment, better than the half time show. The next three ads will do the rest. Haven't met anyone yet that didn't want my Note.
I won't say the Giants won as much as they just got lucky.
Waste of 9 million bucks. Terrible Imo
From the giant: Galaxy Note
why what do employees refer to it as?
Wish the ad showed some of the features of note, rather than people screaming around
Was really hoping for a much better spot outta Samsung on this one. Thought their previous commercials were great. Although i will say, i had 3 friends text me saying they saw a commercial for my phone.

^^^ This. If I didn't know what the ad was for (and I hadn't been following the Note for months now) I would think it was just another Android handset with that pointy stylus thing that Steve Jobs said was bad. Not a single thing special about it. Didn't feel like 90 seconds; seemed like it was over and I was still waiting for some tangible "here's why this thing is awesome" moment(s). Oh well. As the Note has done elsewhere in the world, I'm sure it'll sell itself on the merits as people start using them.
The add was lame. I was sold on the specs alone before the thing was ever announced (just rumored) ... Of course we have to remember, most people aren't nerds like us...
The downside to it's success is that, unlike the Dell Streak I'm writing this on, I wont be the only person I know who has one! When I whip out the Streak I always realize that no one has ever seen a phone like this. That is about to end...
The upside is of course that the development from this community, and the updates from Samsung should be great.
