So Android is being ported to WM handsets... is the opposite possible?
I really dig my Hero, and Android is nice, but hands down, I will take HTC Sense 2.5 on WM6.5, 10 times out of 10.
Arent the guts of the Hero and the TP2 very similar... this should not be that hard for the XDA fam, right?
Sorry to burst your bubble, but nobody here really wants it bad enough to put forth the time and effort to port it. Many of us see WM 6.5 as the inferior platform that it is (compared to Android), and it doesn't seem worth it to a lot of people. Another thing is, WM isn't open source like Android, so it would probably be even harder to get working. Sorry mang

Most likely NO, why? time to port all the different drivers , UIs etc. and another reason...is WHY?? WinMo is a piece of sh#@ that is why we are using Android based phones
I love some of the apps on WM 6.5, but it's SO dead to me. I don't ever want to see it ever again, as long as I live.
To answer your question, I doubt it will EVER happen. Ever. The reason being is that drivers would have to be written from scratch on lots of the hardware. There would have to be a bootloader modification too in order to actually load the WM image, which I'm not sure how that could be accomplished without a tremendous amount of work either.
Usually when the guts are similar (as you're right in TP2 and Hero) but the screen is definitely different, there's a trackball, what do you do with the hardware keys, etc. Lots of "behind the scenes" differences IMO.
You never know though, I always try not to say "never."
That would be going backwards, and tje 6.5 ui is aweful ugly with the ugly menu buttons on the bottom. Ohhh dont forget about the lag issues
No, but you should be able to pick up a WM 6.5 phone coming soon to a dollar store near you.
I gotta say I made the switch to android because I was able to boot android on my Touch but going from android to winmo is simply insane...
Why dont you buy a TP2 and use the android build thats out, my friend got it up an running and is now saving for a hero or supersonic. I used to swear by winmo even when the gayphone came out but Android ****s on Winmo 6.5 EVERYDAY
People are replacing WM6.5 with Android for a reason.
Only a fool would go the other way.
This may just be the craziest thing that I have ever read.
I think its safe to say most us here came from winmo, I also think its safe to say after about a day or less we said,"im never goin back to winmo." Im pretty sure everyone meant it too. the winmo guys are still sayin
That their waiting to switch because android is still new and not polished enough lol I was sayin it too lol but I was wrong as hell hence why im here
It would be an interesting endeavor, but as others have said you would probably have trouble finding someone with the technical knowledge who cares to do so. Most android users have experienced WM, but most WM users haven't experienced android. I think what will be interesting is when WP7S comes out, then you might see people trying to get that on our phones.
But really why should anyone want to port WM6.5 on to android phones? For the same reason many hacking projects start: just to see if we can
There's a major reason Android can run almost anywhere whereas WinMo is basically trapped on the devices it was originally developed for:
Source code
The marketplace is finally beginning to understand the power of that distinction.
I understand the questioning since they are porting Android to WinMo phones.. but did you ever stop to think that the reason they're doing that is to get rid of WinMo? Why in the world would you want to put WinMo in place of Android?

they are not doing it to get rid of winmo, its just one of those things thats cool to have, just like any other app.if us winmo users wanted android, we would buy android, i mean why would you go with just android when you could go winmo and have both? it not perfect yet but it is getting better. and standard android is so ugly to me, it just looks so simple{as does standard winmo} without sense ui.but sense on winmo just looks alot better than android sense. just my 2 cents.....

If source code had anything to do with it, BlackBerry and the iPhone wouldn't be so popular.
Android is overtaking WM because it's a better, more consumer-friendly OS with more, better apps.

Truer words have not been spoken regarding why we all left winmo
i think if a dev wanted to he could port wm to the hero or any android phone. but as others i came from webos & winmo and android is by far the best os ive ever used. i also think wm7 will be a huge fail as android is close to dominating the market share right now. i know what im sticking with!
android is close to beating apple, winmo and palm. it has them all running scared right now, that's why apple is suing htc.
ive got my tm htc hd2....and i gotta say its an amazing phones in both hardware and software, however, only problem, of course, is the OS (wm6.5)...to be honest....it sux (I was using iphone) even with HTC sense wm 6.5 is disappointing....and Microsoft just announced that hd2 will not be upgradeable to wm7 which was like wt* anyways...
I heard that android platform is being developed...or it is already available.....
is it? I just wanted to discuss about updates and upgrades that are available..for this phone...for if wm7 comes out..i think wm6.5 and older versions will be like crap......so....help me out and give me some tips and current situations about this issue..

The HD2 runs WM 6.5, if you dont like it take it back. Get the nexus 1, Sprint Evo or Incredible, you have choices rather than starting another thread about how much you think WM sucks!!!

Why did you get the HD2 if you hate WinMobile? There will be phone of similar specs coming out for all the OS's soon enough. It will be a long time before there is a fully functional android port. If you can't use WinMo and be happy with it, take it back and don't bash an operating system we love and use on this forum. WinMo 6.5 is the last great open and versatile OS left... it can do more than any other mobile OS is capable of atm and it is so much more customizable. Personally, I think Iphone is crap. Barely customizable and the OS makes it look like a childs toy. Dumbed down to the point that a child can use it as a toy!
Also, a search would have answered your questions a lot quicker than starting a new post and waiting for replies... which you had to assume would be negative towards you as you are saying that WinMo is crap in a WinMo forum...
well....sorry if you thought i was just saying wm sucks but I got hd2 cuz of wm7....well...i am not saying wm is suck to the all the way end....it is true its no t good compare to android and iphone OS. so all that i am saying is this " I bought HD2 cuz WM6.5 will be upgrade to WM7 but its not confirmed, so I dont want to be stuck with dead platform of older wms...so is there any news or tweaks so i can make this much more better" I also said i am noob....(I have used 6.1...really...wasnt great experience.... so...I dont know much about the world of wm...so plz give me some tips? i guess)

It depends on what your uses and expectations are. In some aspects WM is inferior to iphone osx and android. In other aspects, the HD2 blows both of them out of the water.
I have an iPhone too, and for my uses, the HD2 is a far more capable phone.

It was confirmed that the HD2 would not be upgradable to WP7 weeks before it came to T-Mobile USA. No offense, but that was probably something you should have confirmed fully before you spent all that money.
That being said, WM is a very capable, customizable OS. I didn't like my HD2 nearly as much when I first got it as I do now. After tweaking it over the past couple of weeks, I can say with complete honesty that other than the apps, the HD2 runs laps around my iPhone. Its faster, has a better web browser, and thanks to sense, all my core functions easily accesible. No need to open a SMS app, an e-mail app, a twitter app etc etc. All those functions are laid out in front of you. The interface is also much sleeker looking and attractive overall. The iPhones interface is really showing its age.
If you want to get the most of your phone, flash the ROM. I'm using Energy ROM with cookies home tab 1.7. Its a straight-forward, easy to use ROM. The interfaced is tweaked to make it easier to use....plus its very stable...haven't had a crash since I installed it. There wasn't much else I needed to do to my HD2 after flashing to this ROM.

The HD2 will not have an official WinPhone 7 upgrade. I'd prefer WinMo 6.5 anyways. And I think compared to android and iphone, Windows mobile is much better, more versatile, and much more powerful. I admit it's not as user friendly. You might want to return it if you don't like WM.
Return your phone, get the Nexus 1 or Evo. Or wait for the iPhone 4g.

I think the constant bombardment of threads asking about android ports to HD2 is getting annoying but at the same time it just goes to show how much more annoying the current WM OS is. I realize all you hardcore WM fans laugh at everybody who seems to get pulled into the HD2 hype but its really disappointing for some of us who did come from a phone that was a lot simpler where we didn't have to fight with the phone just to send a text message or surf the web. I want to believe in my phone but when I'm willing to go back to the simplistic nature of the iPhone 3G (and I'm not alone), it just goes to show how much WM just isn't. Someone said that you can do more on WM then you can on the iPhone OS. True it may not be locked down near as much as the iPhone is but the iPhone has some of the best applications on any phone out in the market. And a lot of that is due to the fact that the iPhone is locked down and due to Apple's strict app approval process. Then you look at Microsoft Marketplace and its a joke. Some of the apps that are for sale (don't even get me started on that) are so old, they aren't even useful anymore. The only thing the HD2 has going for it is its powerhouse performance and the awesome mods that seem to think that the HD2 can be better.
I am not hating the HD2 or even the WM OS. I just think that if Windows looked at what Apple has done and try to improve on that, things would be a whole lot better. Everybody mods their phones. Even iPhones get jailbroken. But atleast the majority of the apps that are in Cydia are not there to fix problems that are wrong with the iPhone OS; but to improve upon it. The majority of the apps for WM devices are there to correct problems with the phones.

Microsoft is doing exactly what apple does with their WinPhone7. They're making it locked down and more user friendly for everyday people. I'd prefer WinMo 6.5, though. And there are lots who agree. I don't have any problems using WinMo, and can do everything with ease. I don't want Microsoft to "look at what apple has done and improve on that". WinMo is exactly the way I want it to be. If they locked it down and made it easier like apple, it would not be as functional and versatile as it is. It won't be as customizable. To gain simplicity, you'll lose versatility.I don't want that. If you want something like the iphone, get an iphone. Don't say MS should change their OS to be like apples (which actually they are doing for future releases, unfortunately). If you want something simpler, get something simpler. I wanted a new WinMobile phone, so thats why I got an HD2. Why did you get an HD2? Because of hype? There's hype about the iphone 3gs... why didn't you get that? You should still do research on a phone even if there is hype. You should choose a smartphone based on what operating system you use, just like you would a computer. You wouldn't buy a linux based computer that you didn't know how to use, would you?

actually I traded the iphone 3gs 32gb for my hd2. and yes I did check out all the reviews and video comparisons that you tube and engadget had to offer. iphone killer? hardly. hardware specs yes but it's like taking a Bugati and replacing the software that runs it with that of a ford taurus. and you can't blame HTC as the hardware is working just fine. you say your phone is working just fine but for every person that saying their phone is fine, there are 5 threads stating otherwise. you can have winmo however you like it, I just want my phone to work out of the box without having to reboot it 3 times a day.
And it's pretty sad that HTC has to create a mask to cover winmo's looks. It's like me putting a mask over my girlfriend's face because I'm too embarrassed to be around her. what is the point of marrying a product with an operating system if even the manufacturer is embarrassed for users to see it?

People usually only post when there's problems. You don't find most people posting that there phone works fine and has no problems. For every 5 threads of people complaining, theres probably hundreds of happy users. And what are you talking about iphone killer? Its a completely different kind of phone and os for completely different types of users. If you were an iphone user, why did you trade it for the HD2? Why don't you go back to iphone if you don't like WinMo?
HD2 will get Android, make no mistake about it, the community will make it happen. The real issue here is when it will get it.
If you got the phone to put Android on it right now, then it's not the phone for your. If you got it because you wanted an Android phone with the best specs, then by the time Android is running perfectly on the device there'll be better, faster phones.
I got it because I wanted Android on it, but I want to get Android on it myself. I got it as a sort of hobby because now I'll be able to tweak, and turn, and customize, and part of my customization goals is to get Android to load and maybe use it as my daily OS.
But, in the mean time (and I think this is where we're on different situations), I know that the device is a WinMo device, and knowing so has also picked my interest to learn how to work/customize WinMo and make it into something I'll enjoy. That's what XDA is all about. It's sort of the way it was for me when I first used a linux distro. I wanted to rip the hairs off of my head and would be frustrated at how much work it took to do some things I took for granted in Windows. But after working with it for some time, and knowing how it was different, and learning how to use it, now there are tasks that I do in linux that I just can't find myself doing in Windows, so I have both loaded on my computer.
Take the time to work with WinMo, understand that it's different. Only then you'll start seeing how different can mean better in different areas.
Don't get me wrong now, I didn't get this phone to try and find a Android port or WP7 port. I actually traded it because I already know everything there is to know about the iPhone and it was starting to bore me. I wanted to find a phone that would get my tech juices flowing; atleast until the iPhone HD comes. I saw this phone and from all standpoints it looked like and for the most part is still a really nice piece of technology. When I first saw the phone up front I called it Edward's phone cuz the screen sparkles in the sunlight. I think HTC did as good of a job as they could trying to hide as much WM as they could. Some reviews said you have to dwelve pretty deep into the phone to get to WM but I found that to be untrue. Why do I still have it? Because I still have an iPhone 3G and feel like if I give up on the HD2 now, I will never see the full potential of this phone. The 3G is not as fast as my 3GS or even the HD2 but in a world of simpler is better, the iPhone just fits. So for right now my HD2 is my secondary phone when my iPhone battery dies.
But taking out the stock MicroSD card really does help. I really think there should be a some sort of recall on those SD cards if that many people are having issues with them.
hmmmm thx for the information....I just found out about flashing the phones with other roms....did not know i could do that with my hd2
well that being known i guess i could get the most out of my hd2
And i do totally agree that iphone does not come near my hd2 in many aspects
just have to tweaked it to my ways...
any advice of available roms? for my tm hd? and also...where can I get GPS software like tomtom, garmin, igo or copilot? where can I purchase/download them?
I have said it once and Ill say it again.
I did buy my Hd2 in hopes that android would be ported.
BUt over all I am happy with my decision to buy it.
Some people forget that its easy just to say go buy this phone or that phone.
but Some people dont have service with those companies or have had bad experiences'
I love my hd2 but i can admit when I see more Dev's working on Iphone apps.
Android suffers from that same fate. But they are gaining more and more.
I have had my hd2 since the US lauch. The first few days were fustrating. Its gotten easy as I have found roms that make it perform so much better.
One thing I have also learned is .. We techies are the minority. Phones are not designed with us in mind. Phones are designed with the majority in mind .
Yes the Iphone is dumb down. No one cares how it works aslong as it works.
Once we get use to that everything will be gravey.
being An original Iphone user for more than 2 years I can honestly say it gets old after a while.
Ill stick with my Hd2
I cant really say this enough but windows mobile and S60 to me are the only Operating systems that never bow down to the apple trend. Sure S60 and windows mobile were the last ones to get pinch to zoom and capacitive touch screen and people might say oh look their following android and apple. but in all reality s60 and windows mobile innovated the market for what it is now. who came out with the email and PDA system back in the day people would drool to have that windows did! who came out with the crazy camera and media power house N95 s60 did. compare to what android and apple are innovating comes wayyyyy short what windows mobile and s60 have done.
Well I don't have to open a new thread now I'll just kinda change this one...I really want this phone cause well it's an awesome phone but the thing that has held me back has been the OS. I owned and still have a tilt and I loved that phone til the screen cracked so I moved on and tried out a G1 and I hated it but after playing with it for a while and the customization of the phone and the growth of the market I love android now and can't see myself goin back now I have a MT3G so it's been almost a year and I wanna upgrade again. Ok my point is I've googled HD2 with android to see if it had been accomplished yet sadly no but I found a lot of results saying that T-MO will have an OTA android update for the HD2 later this summer. Idk how true this is but a number of ppl in the t-mo forums have discussed this saying that tmo reps have told them this will happen to compete with the Evo. It will supposedly dual boot I guess you'll have an option of which os u wanna run...Any thoughts how likely is or is it just BS imo I think it's to good to be true lol
Im just gonna say this no matter how far we get booting android it will never be as good as an android device unless its flashed to it if you buy a windows mobile device is because you like it not for what ever hacks come out. its like those people that buy hondas and toyotas and turn them too look like an audi or a ferrari or a bentley you buy a device because your happy for what it is not for what you can turn it into. what happen if xda developers banish everyone its going to throw their android and windows to the trash??? first be happy with what you have then be happy what you can do

I can pretty much guarantee that that is bs. They are not gonna have an official update to put android on the hd2. It's a WinMo phone... they don't just update phones with different OS's.
will a custom ROM have android instead of WM6.5 ?? i mean it will direct boot to android or we still have to open android from WM6.5 ??
at the moment you run android as an application in windows mobile.
other way is to flash andoid to nand like we now flash our windows mobile roms.
as far as i know there is not enough room to flash both OSes to nand. <- pls correct me if im wrong
oh ok when it will be 100% functional with everything working it could be flashed to nand without the WM ?
why did u buy a winmo phone when u want android?
...the world as we know it...will come to an end... lol well what's most likely to happen is people wanting to get windows phone 7 on the phone.

i think thats wrong. android is NOT an app running in windows mobile. this would mean android is runnning as some kind of emulation. as far as i know, winmo is still needed in order to initialize the hardware. by starting haret.exe, the wince-kernel is shut down and a linux bootloader is started.
hopefully we'll be able to flash an android rom to nand and have a device which can hold either OS equally. I personally like the fact that the HD2 can become versatile. I agree - that if someone wants to run android only, he should buy an Android device. I wanted to have a taste of android with the ability to run WM as i have for the past 4 years.

So people do have reasons to have the hd2.
Plus a lot of people I have met with the hd2 didnt realize what they were buying. Most people hate the phone. They then see mine with android and fall in love.

Can some one answer this question. What windows mobile 6.5 do, that android can't do? This is my first WM phone and I tho it was alright. I would of got the Evo but I can't switch carriers until the end of the year. Since now we got android, I'm staying with t-mo. I pay full price for this phone ($560.00 in NYC) I first regretted and since android I don't. Anyways I found that android do much more for me than WM. So if I'm wrong please some one tell me. Ps: excuse my english.

For me, I would consider the NAND flash for Android ROM the 100% fully functional since that is of primary importance to me here.
I bought my HD2 even though I knew it had WM. And at the time I didn't want Android at all, just my WM, but with some configurations & such.
But now that I have Android running on it instead, I never want to go back.
And just like someone else said, there ain't an Android phone around that have the same hardware specs as the HD2. Except the EVO, but I've had my phone a long time before they released the EVO. And from what I know it's only available in the US. Maybe I could import one and configure it to run on Swedish networks, but wth..
The wife and I got this phone and she didn't realize it was Windows Mobile. This was my first experience with Sense UI and thought it was awesome.
I loved the phone for what it could do and actually "Used" it to it's potential. She "HATES" it. Then again, I don't blame her. Sense fails hard when it comes to texting and load lag
She can't wait till I can flash Android to her phone. Me, i'll stick with my options.

I don't think people who HATE WinMo buy this phone with the sole intent of putting another OS on it. I think most people bought it for the screen & the media capabilities. For me, I saw a lot of potential in the hardware specs and bought mine cause it's the last real WM phone(I'm sappy like that) and because it's a GSM phone that I can unlock & use for years to come. It was like buying a barebones PC that I could run whatever I want on & have multi-boot systems.
I decided to run Android on it initially out of sheer curiosity, and so I can learn the next OS I'm gonna be using. When WM dies out(it's GOING to happen, so we may as well face it), Android will be what I will move on to partly because its Linux & open source, and partly because there's no way in pus-spewing, blood-gutted hell that I would ever use an iPhone or Blackberry(WP7 has NEVER been an option). I must say, Android runs VERY well on this phone even in its current stage of development, I can't wait to see how awesome it'll be as a fully flashable rom. I'm already almost to the point of not even missing WM anymore. I've been running it for a week now & I'm getting to know how everything works & I love it. Very versatile & powerful, and quite stable. I don't think I quite realized just how many lockups and crashes I was really having with WM until I started using Android as my main OS. The first time I used Android I HATED it because I had a bad build & an underpowered phone(One of the first leaked Froyo builds on a Sprint Hero) and it ran like crap. But with the combo I've got now, it's simply awesome. Everything is so integrated & all the programs mesh together so beautifully. It really does 'just work', and it's hackable & customizable at the same time. Best of both worlds. If & when a NAND version of Android for the HD2 comes out, you can count me in.
Don't get me wrong, I will ALWAYS love WinMo. I think it's the best mobile OS there ever was, and it's incredibly sad that it's dying. It would still be going strong if Microsoft had just marketed it better & hadn't copped out with WP7. But I'm not gonna stay with a stagnant platform that nobody develops for anymore(I'd have stayed with Palm OS otherwise), and I was honestly starting to get bored with it. I had pushed WM to it's limits & did everything I could possibly do with it, and it's just time to move on. I believe Android is the wave of the future, and will eventually overtake the iPhone in popularity.
Plus I love robots, so anything named 'Android' is automatically cool in my book
I agree with you wholeheartedly. Friendly robots are a plus in my book.

Once android 2.2 is fully working, android gingerbread will be released and people can start working on that. Windows phone 7 is also a possibility. Ubuntu is still under development as well. The possibilities are endless.
Why windows mobile 7 when android so much better?

I'm currently using a Vibrant (rooted, flashed, blah blah) but I've been looking into getting an HD2 to play with now that they're going for dirt cheap on craigslist. Before I do this, could anyone tell me if there are any 100% functional android roms out? I had an hd2 when it first came out, and wasn't a winmo fan. At all. But now that there's been a lot of progress made, I'm willing to give it another try.
No... there are currently no Android ROMs for the HD2. you still need a Windows Mobile ROM and run Android off of the SD
Please refer to the Android Development section in the other HD2 area for Android builds and news regarding Android development.
Nope, there is no a 100% working build yet. All android builds have users reporting SOD, long wake up time, and other issues like low in call volume levels.
Alright, thank you both. As for winmo, one of my main concerns was the lag in texting, using sense, etc. Have any steps been taken to improve these issues? I would search the forums if I could, but I'm getting a pretty lousy connection here in my building. Also, I didn't get very good 3g on my HD2. Have any connection fixes come out?
To answer your questions, No and Yes(Maybe). Texting through the HTC client is still as slow as ever, but if you disable it and use the regular WinMo text program everything is gravy. And the connection issues are probobly just your area, but you can always flash a new Radio ROM and see if it helps any.

Wow are stories are exactly the same! I had a HD2 the first week they came out then sold it because of WinMo. I also bought a Vibrant and still have it (Rooted and playing with ROMS). I now bought a HD2 to play with and experiment with ROMS and Android on it.

The world will never know!
I can tell you that there is an offical 3.15 tmo rom out there as a RC. I've put it on several phones and so far can state that it has cured all problems we've experienced with the HD2.
I need to test swype+text tho, forgot about that one!!
Official 3.15 ROM eh? Where is the link?
Actually it's 3.14, and still officially in testing phase, although it's more of a release candidate. Splash screen says "Test, not for sale" and all that.
So "official" was a bad choice of a word, but I did get it directly from TMO.
I too own the Vibrant and got an HD2 to play around with. The HD2 is nice, but I love my Vibrant, and would never use the HD2 as a primary phone until a complete Android port is available. Nice hardware, just a POS OS. I am curious to see what the update brings to WinMo on the HD2. It goes without saying that I am anxiously awaiting a 100% functional Droid ROM on this thing.
See, its people like this that bring WinMo down for no reason. WinMo, especially on the HD2 is no "POS OS". WinMo runs circles around Android as far as compatability and open-ness is concerned. Android may look "nicer"(if looking like Ubuntu is nice...), but WinMo has it where it counts...*cough no rooting to access file system cough*.

Have you tried installing Cookies Home Tab Editor on your HD2? It's free and makes a Winmo phone have the same functionality as Android with all of the icons, widgets, etc. Supports multiple pages of icons with a home screen just like Android, but also with the sweet Windows mobile stuff as well. Double the awesome. Check it out if you haven't.
WinMo is just a little more nerdy in terms of customization compared to the Iphone and Android. There is a lot to learn and if you aren't at least semi computer savvy and into nerding out on your phone (reading a lot), it's not the phone for you. I wouldn't recommend it for my 60 year old mom.
Mostly, Winmo phones aren't awesome out of the box usually. In terms of out of the box, the HD2 is the best winmo phone that I've seen. Sense is clean.
I have an HD2, Jailbroken Iphone and a Rooted G1 and have played with newer Android devices. The HD2 is by far, still the best. It just does more awesome stuff. You can customize anything on Winmo. ANYTHING.
I really like all three operating systems though. None of them suck.
Is there a Windows Phone 7 rom for the mytouch 4g and, if not, is there likely to ever be one?
Ive never seen a windows rom for an android device. and honestly why would you want that? windows 7 looks kol because its new, but try playing with it for 5 seconds and you get bored. just try the new cm7 or other roms for the mt4g
yea i agree. got my wife a new hd7. dont like it one bit. gotta hack it just to get custom ringtones on it for instance.
I was just asking about the possibility. I don't want one.

If you want your Android to look like a WinMo7 Device try using MetroUI.
Out of curiosity, why exactly won't this work? I know WP7 is closed source, but didn't some devs get it running on the HD2?
That's what I was curious about.

Because : Android > WM7
Simple Math Actually.
Prior to my MT4G, I had the HTC HD2.
I came stock with WM6.5, was able to put Android on it and even tried out WP7. The only real reason they were able to port it over to the HD2 is that the hardware between the HD2 and HD7 is almost identical.
As for porting it over to another platform totally, don't hold your breath. They still have not "jail broken" the whole OS yet so there are a LOT of limitations on what hardware it will work on and even what customizations that can be done at this point.
Summary: Don't hold your breath. IF it happens, will be a LONG time out.
Wm7 is awful, no tethering, no apps, no customization, big tiles all over your phone, like msft just **** out the OS, and thought, we'll just catch up with updates later.....love my xbox but microsoft really dropped the ball, returned it and got this phone lol

It really isn't too bad its alot better than winmo 6.5 that's for sure. I had the hd7 for a like a month and I loved it for that short amount of time but android just had my heart lol so I went back to a mt4g. Wp7 is going to grow as an os lets not forget its still in its infant stage just give it time and it'll be up there. Just think about android 1.5 and all its flaws and look at where we're at now. Also remember windows mobile and windows phone 7 are completely different os's so bringing up any winmo phones is irrelevant. Just my 2¢ but yeah Android is still where its at lol

Personally, WP7 is a HUGE step back. Out of the box (before the update, which is also bricking some phones) is like iPhone OS v1, but worse.
Look, it took apple 3 years to implement copy/cut/paste and even longer to allow some sort of Multi-Tasking because people were yelling for it. Out of the box, you don't get this with Wp7. Once the update issues are worked out, it will be, almost, on-par with iOS4 in regards to multi-tasking and copy/cut/paste. However, their RIGID stance on access to Zune media is insane. You can't see or use that media with any other app other than the built in Zune app to play them. Then they mess up the SD Card with a very specific partitioning system that you can't access except through the phone (as in, you CANNOT run the phone without the SD Card that was in there on first boot or turn your phone off and put it in a card reader, won't be able to read it). So if you upgrade from one size SD to another, then you have to wipe and reload your phone to get the new SD Card to be seen, and anything you put on the SD Card before this will get wiped out on first boot anyway.
Ok, I can go on and on, but when all I can see is the HUGE list of Fail and the small list of COOL, there is no reason to take this mobile OS as a serious contender to any other currently used Mobile OS.
Lol android fanboys, like apple fanboys so make me laugh
I'd love to try a windows phone 7 rom on android. I love windows phone 7 and I love android

WP7 is like a stupid hot chick. So nice to look at and run my finger over, but after like a day of fingering, I just want to go back to my smart, deep, above average looking Android booty call.
At least Android fanboys are justified. Apple sucks no matter how many horn-rimmed glasses wearing Starbucks drinkers hype it up.

just load your favorite android rom, go to market and download Launcher 7, done and done.
no need to use a whole wp7 rom.
