Please don't let me throw my HD2 over the window!!! My HD2 is freezing badly!

Hi guys.
HTC HD2- what a lovely device but from an unknown reason to me has loads of bugs and glitches.
Imagine you woke up in the morning and you wanna make your first call or just you wanna have a look how late you are at work and your "beauty" doesn't switch on!!! I press any of the hardware keys, the keys-backlight is ON but the screen is OFF. This happens at least 2 times per week. I use to press the keys a bit harder just to give it a push - it did work for a while, not anymore. Even I could to get it switched ON the HTC sense menu was lagging badly that you just had to give up
- Next step, remove the battery+saying the magic spell+ putting the battery back on= no positive result whatsoever! I have to leave it with the battery on for a while, couple of hours or so and then it works!!!!
One more thing... after the start up, the HTC Sense is loading very, very very slow... is like having loads of programs running/intalled when I do no have that!
I almost broke that phone into pieces...until I have realized that its only Bill Gates fault or even mine.

Its nobodys fault.
I used to have problems but i updated my ROM to 1.61 WWE using the gold card method, then flashed the HSPL.
Now using XannyTechs Evolution_RC1 until now no problem apart from minor beutification problems.
Try to upgrde ur rom

Flash HSPL... then flash Dutty's latest ROM V1.1 WWE.... or alternatively Topix 1.1.5....
Either of these ROMs are close to stock... VERY fast... all crapware removed giving you MUCH more space
In addition, look for Dutty's Task Manager Cab... set the task manager to close applications when pressing "x"
I have non of the problems you mentioned and I do hope these this will sort you out pal! Cheers!

Flashing a custom rom may not be the best for now, try a hard reset and then try with no apps or manila mods. If all is ok reinstall your apps one by one, the fault probably lies there. If not it may well be a hardware fault. After the problem is sorted try out Miris ROMS i have been using them for over a year on my old HD. I Highly recommend them!! Miri 6.5.x v1.2 is what i am running.

I had the very same problem, and it turned out that the SD card that the phone came with was corupted!
I took the SD card out and everything was fine... try that...

do a scandisk on windows pc fix the card for me!

Hi, I have the exact same problem as the guy starting this thread, but could you please explain what all this means? Updating the rom, gold card method, hspl flashing, and xannytechs evolution_rc1. In lehmanns terms please! I dont want to do anything to breach my warranty or hack right into the phone, such as Ive read flashing the HSPL is.
I just need to know what it all does and how to do it and would be very grateful for any help!

might be work trying another chefs cooked rom or performing a reset on your phone as it looks like the theme may have messed things up

Thks bro, had tried other themes and currently so far so good. Anyway, checked wif some other seniors and confirm that my unit is unstable as it had been forced upgrade to WM6.5.

i tried wm6.5 on my blackstone a few times but its just too slow and resource hungry

ok well i just put the FroyoStone with HTC Sense V2 - Release Date: 02.Sep.2010 on my HD2 and it works just fine but i do have a problem with making calls like it freezes and crashes the caller app. its not a problem with the radio i dont think so but does anyone can help me with this? i used the searched but could not find anything but problems with radios. so i would greatly appreciated

What radio are you using and did you run CLRCAD.exe?

Radio versions are responsible for almost every problem running android on HD2. You should really upgrade to version 2.12 and compare. Also try upgrading your winmo rom to one of the other winmo rom's on the this site, since they tweak and change minor things which may have an impact. I use ChuckyROM, which is nice because it has a cool loader for launching android with the click of a button.

What are some reliable radios yall recommend to use and I have a cooked winmo Rom already but I can do everything on the Android but make a call I can receive text emails and surf but can't make calls :/

Like the above poster already suggested, use 2.12. This is the newest radio. It works great for me.

I am using radio 2.15.50.14 and cannot get android to run
I run HARET and it shows a couple of lines of code, then within 3 or 4 seconds of running it, I get lots of static horizontal white lines and the device basically bricks and I have to remove the battery.
Any ideas?

I had this same problem when I first started reading about droid on HD2.
Make sure you flash your phone with HSPL and make sure you format your memory card as FAT32.

problem calling, american suffix added

i have recently upgraded my hd2 with the latest winmo (oct 2010) and install Android 2.2 with sense. that works fine, but i have sometimes a problem when i'm trying to make call, the phone add automatically the usa suffix to my number :s
example if i try to call a 06xxxxxxxxhe will try to call the 00106xxxxxxxx.
can someone please help me to resolve that.

Maybe you didn't you understand that its the way it should be ?
You have installed a SD build, which means your WM 6.5 ROM has not been touched in any way, and everytime you reboot then your phone will boot in WM first.
By the way, this is a great advantage of SD builds, because if anything goes wrong in Android, you can quickly go back to WM.
Fortunately, you can automate the work to restart Android at each boot by installing an app like EBL (Exceller boot loader). Search here on xda, or google it for more information.

More details please (NAND or SD, kernel, radio version…). Some apps like Viber or Shazam can cause this issue after using them.

[Q] Android on 512 mb ROM HD2

this thread is about to install or run Android on non T-Mobile 512 mb ROM based HTC HD2.
i have non T-Mobile HD2, means i have 512 ROM (flash) based HD2, can i have android on it? i tried a lot but screen fades out and android wont boot. Do i need any update or what?

Did you really try to install android on your internal memory?
If yes, please search for the next corner and shame on you..

your internal memory (the 512 mb) is called NAND. This won't be touched by Android (well...just take this for granted).
You'll install android on your SD card.

Hey hey i was not saying that to install on ROM, i was asking that how can i run android (froyo) on my HD2 which have 512mb ROM.
means i dont have t-mobile version.
Otherwise i know i should keep the files in micro SD card and then run it.
When i try to run on my HD2 screen fades out and nothings come back. i need to pull my battery out to restart my phone.

ok, a hint: radio version must be 2.08 or higher. I suggest the 2.14, but you need to read the linked thread first.

But i am having some problems, i installed chucky ROM and then ran 4 types of android ROMs. 2 of them dont work good. but 2 works.
the 1 which ran the best still having problems in it. wifi wont work, camera wont work, flash light wont work. Some times it hang and stand still, i need to remove the battery to restart it. what i do?
which android version is best for chucky ROM?

it depends on each persons liking.. but since you're just starting to port to android.. i would recommend these combo, as i think both these works right out of the box as they say.. very fast build.. after you try these combination, you can explore with other builds.. but this would be a great start.. try it
VBNRom (Winmo ROM) i know you said you already have chucky ROM, but this one is light and gives me good compatibility..
NexusHD2 (Android) everything works.. BT, camera, internet (only RMNET) and very fast build..

I use chucky myself, and Darkstone's Desire Froyo. Everything works, and I havent noticed any slowdowns so far.

HD2 Rom Issues

Hi ,
- I recently bought a hd2 from a friend
- Now the problem is if i install miui rom on it the phone lags and freezes a lot
- I did task 29,install latest radio and then re partition the space an installed the rom same issue
- installed hyperdroid rom on it and the rom does not lag but when i try changing the wallpaper the Phone hot reboots?
- I think there is some problem with the phone itself.
- any suggestions to fix it.?

Make clean install. Install wm 6.5 Stock Rom first and than do the rest.

Secondhand HD2s have a vague past. You don't know what the device has been through.
So it could be anything, but to make sure. Flash Windows mobile 6.5 and use it for a few days, just to exclude any hardware defects.
The next thing is, to check for bad blocks. (since you are using the correct sizes yet you have freezes, it could be it)

What is a good tool to check for bad blocks?
