sprint discontinuing the hero?

i was reading on another forum that sprint is going to be discontinuing the hero and the moment? is this true? if soo im really ticked considering these phones are less than 10 months old.

i just talked to my friend who works at radio shack and he confirms these phones will be discontinued and not carried for much longer. are there any sprint workers here that can confirm?

I'm trying to make a witty and profound response, but I can't concentrate. Oh mister pit, mister pit, oh mister pitiful.......

yeah it sucks, i bought the damn phone for 500 bucks last october and its already outdated. hows that for some silly ****.

yea i remember staying up late waiting for updates at like 3 in the morning now its pretty empty. thank god to faithful commited devs that keep the hero intresting...... (sigh) i need an evo

id think most users would be pissed right now. i think if they are doing this, it's just to get users to get a droid phone with 4g so we can pay that 'coolness' fee. no reason for you to take offense, this isn't geared towards our small amount of devs here, im talking about sprint/htc. even the damn 1st gen droid got 2.2 and it's about to be discontinued.

im not talking about being outdated. YES in comparison to other droid phones "evo" it is outdated. but i do not agree with them stopping selling or carrying them yet.

I honestly... don't give two ****s. It's the progression of technology. To move with the times, you need to improve with the times. I think it's not bad to discontinue the Hero, but it certainly isn't good either. Hey soul sister, hey that mister mister on the radio, stereo......

I think the epic is actually pretty... pretty. Just my opinion. We built this city.... we built this city on rock and roll....

had to disable every feature to get through the day.
a little too big for my tastes.

already sold...i got twice what i paid for it. but i needed the cash too at the time. now that im going back to work i may give the evo another shot and buy an extended battery. i dunno yet?

Ah the Hero.. I forgot about even having one :/. I remember that phone being the phone I wanted for a whileeeee and then I finally got one only a month later to get the Evo.

The epic is a sleek beautiful phone... in my opinion a lot nicer than the evo, i love the flush buttons at the bottom but i dont like touchwiz or samsung so i won't be getting one

There's an Epic section on XDA. Doesn't matter which phone I get, I'd just be loading AOSP or CyanogenMod on it. But please, come down, from that cloud you're sitting on, I don't expect you to admit that you were wrong.....

This is my 1000th post! Yeah... I just sort of figured this was worth making a thread! Don't donate to me or anything, the only thing I ever did the was even 500 miles within good was the souffle roms. But... yeah, 1000 posts! Ironically, this also happened at midnight exactly!

Yes. I am in the mood for a cookie right now. I just got back from a week-long vacation... except it had no TV or internet (couldn't even tether, I was roaming with 1 bar at best and 1X) and I could use a chocolate chip mood swing ermmm cookie.

I have two very decent notebook computers and a desktop rotting in the closet at the moment. I'm not that desperate for cash and I'm well aware that when I buy a device I run the risk of getting gibbed.

I don't have a laggy phone either but isn't that the point of this thread? My GPS is fine on JK2 (stock JK2). If you want to sit here and complain about how crappy it is what right do you have to sell it for more than you say it's worth(less).

What device is complete? If had to it all over again I would still choose the vibrant. The only is that I would pay a lot less for one.

Guys, XDA is sad lately. Do your part and ignore these type posts please.

The people that are leaving the phone obviously have no idea how software is developed and are extremely impatient. If i have left every phone Ive had because of minor, trivial and fixable flaws, i would been in debt up to my eyeballs. EVERY phone has flaws no exceptions. Like everyone says and is repeated ad nauseum, "its all about choice". Good day.

Hey all,
Just thought I would inform you that my Epic 4g is officially ordered, and I will receive it in approximately one week. Not only do I want to thank everyone for their amazing support of me for my time on the hero forum, but I'd like to let you know what I will maintain while I'm gone in the Epic section. I WILL still maintain my Q&A section, and will look for questions in my Themes. I will not be releasing new versions of themes, however. If you all would like the themes ported for the latest versions of CM, feel free to do that I just want to let everyone here know that they've helped me develop as a themer and developer, and I will miss this section. And please, feel free to join me as an Epic user

i wish i could take more credit, most of the images are from other themes but finding the transparency fix and adjusting alot of the .xml's was me, along with finding the bits and pieces and tweaking them, im glad you and Dean.d were over there with me since i could always ask you guys for help

That stinks As nice as the hero was to me, when you really sit down with a phone like the Epic, it really becomes apparent how outdates the hero really is

For a theme? Even when 2.3 is 100% built on the hero, it really won't be any faster than 2.2 IMHO

haha its a good phone no doubt about it, but i just like HTC's phones alot like my past 4 phones have been htc's and i have never had an issue

originally I thought a lot of the concept of the echo was cool, but unfortunately that was only in concept. The lack of wimax and most likely no dev support really turned me away from waiting. I ended up going with the evo even though it's been out since june of last year, don't regret it so far.
