When trying to follow the Un-rooting process explained in [How-To] Root and un-root the T-Mobile myTouch 3G by Amon_RA, it give's me an error stating "Main version is older!". I've noticed a lot of other people having issue's and haven't seen a resolution for that error. I have created the goldcard and still no go. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get this fixed.. I need to turn in my phone for a replacement because the lighting on this has started to short out (randomly goes on and off... even if phones off sometimes). I've tried to fastboot a recovery onto it as well and When it fastboots it goes to the Vodafone splash and then just sits there doesnt move and I left it for a good 15 minutes.. This phone still boots up just fine but I need to get the orig. t-mobile rom and spl, splash etc so this can be traded in. Thanks for the help in advance. Sorry if I sound like a noob, it's because i am

Moved to General since this isn't related to developing roms.
Anybody have any ideas?
I'm going through the EXACT same thing as you. Give it up bro. Ppl on these forums are absolutely no help at all. Btw you're radio version is the Rogers one. That's the only thing I've been successfully able to figure out on my own. Everything else has been futile. Good luck. PM me if you figure it out!
[Fixed]
I finally was able to fix this last night... i found two guides that helped in getting this fixed.
Here is what i did first...
h__p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=674003&highlight=1.33.0007 (change the __ to tt)
This made it so i was on an Engineers SPL with S-OFF in order to unlock the fastboot options... I also changed my Splash to the myTouch 3g As well with this tutorial (can't remember where i found it, but it was on the forums somewhere). Once i did this i was able to finally do everything from this post
h__p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547133&highlight=Root (change the __ to tt)
Which i followed
Un-Root your T-mobile MyTouch 3G (and receive back those OTA updates)
- Download this nbh and rename it to sappimg.nbh (MD5 33D958062CC02BB2CEC157F68621D2FF) (h__p://rapidshare.com/files/269267171/SAPPIMG_Sapphire_TMUS_1.88.531.1_COC10_release_signed.nbh)
- Copy sappimg.nbh to your goldcard (a normal SD might also work if you are using an engineerings SPL, give it a try and let us know ).
- Power-off your device
- Insert the goldcard (or SD)
- Power on while holding volume down (of fastboot your device and then press volume down)
- It should pick up the sappimg.zip and you should be able to flash it.
- Once the flashing is FULLY finished reboot your phone.

After following that everything worked perfectly and i'm back to factory settings If you have any questions i'll see if i can help

Ok - thanks for coming in and reading my post even though you could have skipped right on through.
I have purchased a used MT3G from craigslist (i know). I am a semi-knowledgeable "veteran" when it comes to rooting and flashing on the g1 - but the mytouch is totally new to me.
I have some SERIOUS SERIOUS concerns as to what my phone even is in the first place. I bought it with original TMobile packaging, phone says tmobile in the front and back - yet when I turn it on it's VODAFONE.
When I boot into recovery, I get the Triangle Exclamation with the phone. The rom is a 1.5 HTC rom and here is my fastboot info.

HOWEVER - when I run the "one click root" - it says I have a 32A system. Eventually I followed the instructions for 1 click root using flash rec and flashed (downloaded) the Cyan 1.4.1a from the "recovery installer" (flashrec-1.1.2 2009-0909). They said my phone was 32A, I just went ahead and downloaded and installed - now I have the cyan recovery when I boot up my phone - I just can't flash ANY roms. I tried RAv 1.6 - for both 32B and 32A. 32A keeps rebooting my phone over and over, 32B just sits at the vodafone and hangs for 15 minutes.
After HOURS AND HOURS of reading the forms and the wiki - I'm at a complete impasse. I need some guidance. Do I have a 32A or 32B? Is it possible for 32A phones to show 32B in the fastboot? Some people need a "goldcard" to do this - I just used flashrec did I do something wrong? It seems as if some people are flashing roms with their regular SPLs - do I need engineering SPL - if so HOW do I flash SPL and radio without bricking.
I just want to flash some damn roms, or even get back to OEM and get my phone up to 1.6. It's such a bad feeling buying a phone, then bringing it home and you don't realize what you've gotten......I just want to get my phone rooted and start flashing roms and I've gotten this far.
ANY HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!
edit - the only way I've gotten my phone back to the stock HTC MAGIC rom is luckily upon first running of the CYAN recovery I did a nandroid backup and just restored to my backup after the failed rom flashes.
EDIT 2pm CST : I called T-Mobile, they can track your IMEI and Sim card every time you place a call - they CONFIRMED that my IMEI belonged to a TMOBILE MYTOUCH 3G and not any european phone. This leads me to my next question - is it possible to flash this HTC MAGIC rom onto a TMOBILE MYTOUCH 3G through fastboot, or something - WITHOUT a recovery, WITHOUT having root?
My MYTOUCH 3G is running VODAFONE everything, and it's definitely a EUROPEAN HTC MAGIC rom. Did someone install something on this phone before I got it. Please community - any help is appreciated.
A possible explanation is that someone followed Amon_RA's instructions partway through but did not finish. Specifically, they may have flashed the SPL, the recovery image for 32A and then a ROM for 32A. Since the phone is 32B, the recommendation is then to update the radio and recovery and ROM for 32B after it is rooted.
Perhaps this person rooted the phone, and then did not revert to 32B. Just a guess, though.
ok bro first lets calm down. everything is fine. all the information you need is right in front of you. first if its from europe it could be 32b and or 32a. so to check if you have root lets download a terminal app. if you dont have one pm and ill send you one. once we have that run it and type
su
if it asks for permission or just goes to
#
you are good. now type cat /proc/meminfo
for "MemTotal:" if it says 98024 or around there then you have a 32b. there that took care of what kind of board you have now we have radio and splash. your radio is .009. eng radio is .006. most likely the person that had the phone before only did have the steps. so go over them again with doing a "real" rooting. make a goldcard, get a good rec .img and have sdk working on your comp. if you need help i can help the best i can.
my touch 3g problem!! please help!!!
i bought a my touch 3g from craigslist. and when i turn it on it freezes up and says vodafone and it just stays there.. i need help to get it off can anyone help??? please
Turn it on while holding the Home key and tell us what you get? If you get a menu of options then you have a custom recovery image and you can flash a new rom ... if you just get an image of a ! then you have the stock recovery image.
Also turn it on while holding the back key, give us the information from that screen (also known as the fastboot screen) as this will tell us what recovery options are available to you.
I feel you man.

I worked for T-Mobile and got a mytouch before launch. My MyTouch, During the 32B radio flash, fell off my desk, disconnected, and has been stuck where you are ever since.
doing MANY hours of research and trying VARIOUS different methods did not help. I since bought another, (and a nexus. DO NOT MISS THE MYTOUCH) rooted it and my original MT3G, is still stuck on Vodafone red boot screen, and has a hopefully semi-permanent place in the bottom of my shame drawer.
Mine will not respond to Goldcards, and is not picked up by ADB.
If you plug your phone in, on boot and it is recognized by ADB, then you have hope. If its completely shot like mine. I doubt you'll be able to revive it. Unless ive been missing something since July of last year. (I had it early lol).
If it is recognized.
I would...
-Get a 32B radio
-Open CMD in the radio's folder (Shift + Right click will add a button in your right click to Open Command Prompt There)
-Fastboot flash radio <insert file name here>.zip
-Adb will say "Waiting for Device"
-IF IT IS RECOGNIZED It should reboot into Fastboot and flash the Radio and you should be okay.
*Please correct me if I'm wrong. Im can root all day long, but i can barely explain it. XD*

Now I think (I'm a noob) my mobile is semi-bricked.
I tried to make a Goldcard, but couldnt because I cannot run adb.
I can run fastboot from AndroidSDK/tools
adb doesnt find devices.. fastboot finds my device.
Anyone who can help me? I would be really thankfull.
Ouch ouch, looks like its more than semi bricked for now. Since it updated your spl to a perfected one there isn't hacked yet. I'm afraid that the only thing there might save this phone is running another RUU your mobile will accept. You have to find one which got 1.76.0009 or higher cause the S=ON now
If this wont work the only hope will be a spl hack will be released and will be done through fastboot.
But most of all it sounds like the best thing there could happen is that your warranty is still valid and they will replace it for you.
Anyway, don't take my words as 100% cause i'm no expert on this matter!!!
If you dare to try to flash another spl/radio through fastboot look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=605239
BUT, as your new spl is perfected it will most probably not work and ruin the possibility to use fastboot.
Maybe and just maybe, it will be easier to get a replacement if it's fully bricked and it's impossible to get into fastboot and recovery.
Thanks already for the fast answer.
Let me try your suggestions first.
Warranty will not be provided I assume.
I tried to reflash, I couldn't... Let's jst go to the shop and send it to repair-service.
Thanks for helping Ronni!!

Try to wait a little while, like i wrote i'm not an expert on this matter.
Maybe if you're lucky someone will drop by with a solution for it. But to be honest, i wouldn't keep my hopes up
And sorry didn't follow the thread, don't have any links for RUU cause i'm not really sure which you should use.
But if Belgium got the update which include HTC sense, i guess that would be the right one.
I found a solution to my problem.
Here's what did I do.
hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656798
Got the exact same issue.
Tried the goldcard with the sandisk 2GB, but with an usb adapter. (I read the card should work)
I could do everything in the goldcard tutorial but when inserting the goldcard in the phone nothing happens at boot or when pressing the recovery keys at boot.
It jumps right away to versions screen.
The strange thing is though. Once I inserted the sd card in the phone, I can no longer use it on the PC (please insert media). Which I could do before.
When inserting the sdcard on another magic phone, it's working fine.
Going to get a Kingstong 2GB with sdcard adapter in the mean time and try it in the pc's card reader.
(HTC Magic 32A)
It really sucks Proximus sells android phones you cannot update. What's the use to have open source software then?
I also wander why the RUU update went wrong, once you root the phone is should work no ?
hmmm, I Read on this forum there is no fix for the 1.76.0009
h**p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548218&page=27
radjagios, can you confirm the goldcard is working for this?
You have any useful info like sappimg version you have put on it?
After installing the latest cyanogen mod my phone started to act sluggishly. So I decided to try and unroot the device, restoring the device to its factory status using fastboot. However, I accidently used the wrong .nbh file for this. I used Sappimg.nbh (which is designed for 32A models). Chaos ensues.
The phone picked up the sappimg and overwrote the system/recovery/spl succesfully, but since it's the wrong image, my phone is bricked. It can still boot, but it will not do anything once you enter your PIN-code, an error pops up after any second of activity, force closing everything. The only thing I am able to do is connect the SD-card to my computer trough quick use of the notification bar. I can't get to my recovery or create a goldcard since it will no longer accept fastboot commands (remote: not allowed error).

Does anyone have any suggestions? I haven't really tried the goldcard method yet, and I have an additional android phone available it this helps in a way.
You can make a GoldCard with the other phone and it will work in your's. You'll need to get an engineering SPL loaded on your phone before you'll be able to reflash the correct SPL. Go the GoldCard route.
Alright, I've created a working goldcard using my spare android phone. I have never used a goldcard before though, and I'm not really sure how to use it. What are the steps nescessary to flash a new spl?
You just need to grab the correct sapping.nbh for your phone, copy it to your goldcard, put the goldcard in your phone, and boot into fastboot pressing back and power. The phone will check the image then tell you to press the trackball to flash if your goldcard is working right.
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
Using the Sappimg extracted from the Vodafone NL RUU.exe still gives me CID incorrect errors. I have a goldcard inserted; are there certain steps necessary to guarantee its succes? If your pc can still read it after altering the hex values it should be working right?
Meanwhile, I've poked around a bit after booting the phone up, and it turns out I can still get to certain apps, but anything that requires the home screen results in an error that force closes everything, so I can't get into setttings. I can only get to items that are presented in the notification bar like text messages or e-mails. If only I could get to USB-debugging settings I could fastboot my way out of this mess...
I've managed to fix the software part by installing a home replacement app, so I'm good for now; I'll just have to see how I can re-root the device if I want to fix the default launcher I guess
For the incorrect CID, your GoldCard may not be any good. I ran into a problem when I first made mine and it didn't work. I ended up redoing everything, including reobtaining the CID via ADB and it worked the second time around.
Yep, that did the trick! It worked this time, I managed to get the code from my own phone this time through adb, and went through the steps of creating a goldcard again. Thank you, almighty goldcard, my phone is now up and running again Even managed to re-root and re-install cyanogenmod now.

I was looking for sense roms for my mytouch 3g 1.2 and found one that required the radio to be updated to 6.35 ( i double and triple checked to make sure the steps and procedures were specifically for the mytouch with the 32a board ) but after I followed the directions, my phone became unresponsive. It stayed at the HTC Magic screen for about an hour before I turned my phone off and back on again to undo what I had done ( using previous experience from a screw-up I did several months back...basically using the goldcard method to re-root my phone as if it were "new" again ). My problem is, now it's more unresponsive than it was before. it pauses at system - unzipping every time i try to use hboot to load the sappimg.zip. right now my current stats are:

and loads up a red vodafone bootscreen. i honestly think my problem was accidentally pressing the wrong link on Amon_RA's thread about perfected SPL, and i didn't realize it until it was too late... I cannot flash anything thru fastboot, hboot basically stops at system - unzipping when trying to run the sappimg.zip, and "fastboot boot recovery.img" loads the red vodafone screen, but doesn't flash boot the recovery so i can try and fix it with recovery...
all i need to know is if it's entirely bricked, or if i can still save it, and if so, a little nudge in the right direction would be much appreciated...i have been searching google, xda-developers, cyanogenmod, androidforums, etc. for the past 3 days and cannot, for the life of me, find out how to fix the issue...
EDIT: as always, when i ask for help, i end up fixing it somehow...
Hi all, I bought a 2nd hand HTC Magic with Mytouch 3g rom. It's the old model (without 3.5mm headphone jack) and its made in Taiwan.
Been using well for 3 months until what happened I tried doing system update from 1.5 to 1.6. Success!! Then I tried doing 1.6 to 2.1 update.
Halfway while updating it, the phone blacked out ( guess I didnt have more than at least 50 % battery power)
And from that point onwards, whenever and everytime I switched on my handphone it boots up and stucked at the Mytouch 3G green screen.
I cant get access into my handphone like how I normally do. All I can ever go far is just the stucked Mytouch 3g screen.
I've read alot from lots and other Android users and tried to do it myself.
1) Tried unrooting it by downloading the sappimg.nbh file, copy into a newly bought 2GB micro SD, pressing (VOL DOWN+POWER) and let the phone do its job.
Manage to get to the parsing, updating and checking signature part but it just say 'Model ID incorrect! Update Fail!'
2) Next I read is about doing GOLDCARD METHOD. I did as instructions and follow it step-by-step and carefully.
3) I can and able to download all needed files like 1.33.2005 HBoot, Amon Ra's Recovery Image, SappiMG.zip and all others.
BUT the only problem is that I cant get it in sync with the comp.
4) I cant get access at all into my phone to go to Settings > Applcations > Make sure Unknown Sources is checked on as required to.
5) I cant get access into my phone at all to go to Market and download the required File Manager App.
6) I tried installing all kinds of files for update.zip by pressing (HOME+POWER) still to no avail.
Tried all kinds of HBOOT, FASTBOOT still cannot.
7) The only thing I'm able to do is just (VOL DOWN+POWER) , (BACK+POWER) , (HOME+POWER) , (TRACKBALL+POWER) which emits the blue LED light, i don't know the reason. But still, nothing can be done.
And by pressing (BACK+POWER) this is what my phone's motherboard or whatever they call it.

Thanks! really need your help. I'll do my best as long there's other alternative methods unless like I've stated the methods that I'm unable to do.
