Hey guys,
Does anyone use Gesture Search from Google? I just found out about this app and I'm lovin' it! but I couldn't figure out how to use the 'Double flip' function in the app. From what I saw, the app's suppose to start when you flip the phone, it's a neat function but apparently I can't get to work on my Rachael anyone got any ideas?
Here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gD3ZYKIqj7A
sounds interesting, going try that app right now
I can't get the flip to work either...

doesn't work with yours as well huh? maybe i should report a bug to Google
It also didn't work for me, I was going to post my own thread about it
did not work for me as well, updated and tried as soon as i got the market updates notification
Me neither! Tried on all settings, tried left handed, right handed. But nope, no joy.
I use it all the time to dial numbers..
I cant stand the stock dialer app, and the 5 clicks to get to someone.
gesture only takes a few seconds.
Always worked fine for me.

Yea, that's what i love about this app. I can just swipe two letters
and my friend would pop up on my screen and I can just tap the call button.
Lovin' it! But we're talking about the Double Flip function on the new
update for the app (ver 1.2). Does that work for you?
I just posted a thread on the Google Discussion page, hopefully someone
can fix this. Will keep you guys posted

Did anyones google voice stop working on there Evo. Was working fine till i noticed today. Get message "could not complete the call please try again later" WTF
As far as outgoing calls?
Mine never worked.
For some reason the forwarding to GV has stopped for me today for an unknown reason, I had to reinstall the sprint visual voicemail apks to get my voicemails.
I just checked mine and it seems to be working fine. I tested outgoing and incoming. Maybe try to reinstall it from the market?

4.1.2.6 sucks, gotta revert to the previous version before that until they fix the issues with the update.
Could be due to the thrashing the infrastructure is getting from now being open and also from being released as a add on to Gmail. I know Techcrunch reported on this not too long ago.
Can some one help me how do you make calls with it I can't figure it out

Indeed, this new version is suckass! I reverted back to the 3.4 (?) version and it's faster than the 4.0, and way faster than the current 4.1 version! I can't believe they even released this latest version - if you look on the comments and the blog, all - I mean all - the comments say it sucks, is super bugger and beyond slow.
Ah ha... that's why I've had a few calls go through with one way audio, a couple of 'cannot connects' and temporary coma or two... that stupid update I ran a few weeks ago!!! I just reverted back to 4.0 - Does anyone have the 3.4? apk?
Update: I found a copy of 3.4 - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6035817/com.google.android.apps.googlevoice-1.apk
Only thing is, Google made a pretty big shift in the way Google Voice works at the 4.0 level:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/voice/thread?tid=68b66765e4e4ada2&hl=en
I think the new way of connecting calls is faster and more efficient... so I'm going to give th 4.0 apk a shot and see if the stability is acceptable before going back to the 3.4 version. My 2 cents.

Still getting the same error even with 3.4 really wierd
Both 3.4 and 4.0 are here in a .zip

If you haven't already discovered it, you will be shocked to learn that if you use an apostrophe in a reply email, it will be converted into HTML code before being sent. In other words....
This: I don't know
Becomes this: I don't know
It's a small bug but it makes most emails in the English language look like a mess.
Apparently it's being linked to Honeycomb 3.1 and not the tablet itself. You can read the Google posting about the issue here:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=16873&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Owner%20Summary%20Stars
In order to expedite a fix, it would probably be helpful if you contact Samsung and report the problem. The more of us that do so, the more seriously they will take the need for a fix and hopefully work with Google to get it out.
I went to Samsung's support and used their CHAT LIVE feature to do it. If you have 10 minutes, head over there and let them know. When I did it, they had no idea the problem existed!
Samsung Support: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/
Go through the menus to select your tablet then the next screen will have a LIVE CHAT option on the right.
----
Until then, send your email as text only if you can figure that out or stop using apostrophes.
lol so THAT'S why it looked like no one here knows how to type. I don't believe it has happened to any of my posts on here but i'm not sure. I might have been too lazy to use any punctuation while typing on my tab
Thanks! I noticed this on my Acer A500 (Honeycomb 3.1) and was going crazy trying to figure out what exactly was causing it. You just saved me hours of head-banging the desk.
EDIT: Looks like it was fixed in the 3.2 update (so c'mon Samsung, Acer, Asus, etc... give us an update).
I just read a news article saying that the new Google search update is supposed to allow us to use the "ok Google" hotword from any screen, including the lock screen. I downloaded the apk, but can't get it to do anything different on my Verizon s5. Has anyone else gotten this to work? Does it require the phones to not be rooted, maybe?
It doesn't work for us yet. I did all the steps as well but unless it is pushed for your device it's a no go
I thought it was supposed to work with all phones. Too bad, I would have liked the lock screen functionality.
According to AP, it's being rolled out by account. So we wait.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/06/25/apk-download-google-search-v3-5-14-brings-ok-google-hotword-detection-to-any-screen/
I guess I missed that part. Why offer a download link to the new apk if none of the new features will work anyway?

They may have only realized that after the article was written and the .apk was offered. There may be other subtle things that have been improved, speed for example. I think one of the comments mention that the acknowledgement "ding" is different.
if its the one in the new android L then my rom should have it.. ill hafta check tho.. i kno i added the android l launcher and velvet.apk from android l to my rom..

Other things do seem to be subtle and to work, just not the 'OK,Google' detection from any screen. When you go in to set it up, you have to say that phrase three times so it recognizes your voice. However, it never registers so you have to back out of that screen.
Any update on this? I just received the Google search update and it doesn't allow the ok Google voice command on any the screens. I still have to open the app to use the voice setting

I got it today too. This always happens to me, I download an .apk from Android Police and usually a short time later Google Play will tell me I have an update for the same version number. So, my thought is that nothing has really changed and we are still waiting for Google as they roll the function out by account as mentioned in the article.
Thanks for the reply. Bummer
I don't know if I was late seeing this, but the search from any screen feature is available in my Google search settings now.
Today is the first time, since the Google Assistant update, that I've really text anyone.... I tend to use the voice to text feature on my keyboard for long text/posts. So when I use SwiftKey, I press the microphone and it brings up the "Google voice to text" and I'll say what I want, but when I look at it - t's in there 2 or 3 times?? I noticed it first in Facebook Messenger, then when texting my wife.....So it's not just one app.
I just switched to Gboard (Google Keyboard) and it does the same thing.... I switched to Swype and it's fine, but Swype uses it's own voice to text software (Dragon) instead of Google.
Like I said, this just started today and I'm not sure if it has to do with the Google Assistant update, or just something screwy is going on with Google?
Anyone else getting this?
[UPDATE]
I've found several people having this same issue:
http://androidforums.com/threads/vo...ce-to-text-keeps-repeating-sentences.1124892/
[UPDATE]
Well, it seems to have fixed itself over-night?
A little more insight into what it was actually doing....
When I would press the microphone (on my keyboard) and speak, it would put three variations of what you said in the field you were adding text to....For example, when I said the phrase "Testing one (comma) two (period).....It would come out like this:
Testing one, two. Testing 1 comma 2 period testing 1, 2.

The error seems to be that it is typing out every single possible interpretation of what you're saying instead of the most likely one.
Like I said, it seems to be fixed now? But I am in a different location now (work vs home). I'll have to check it this evening too.

Thanks for finding the thread where other people also had that issue. Various complaints were popping up in ROM threads for other devices and it's NOT a ROM issue.
Replied by mistake to this topic.....Disregard this reply :highfive:
