Confessed-Is "Stick Together" the "splash" or "startup" screen?
I'm a little confused. I want to change the Stick Together screen on my T-Mobile HD2, but I can't figure out if its the splash screen, startup animation screen, welcome192.png, or what.
I installed a cab I thought would change it, but it changed the animated screen that comes just after the Stick Together screen. I think I need to flash it to make the change.
I remember doing something similar on my Tilt, but that was a long time ago. Could someone point me to some info on the process?
Thanks!
Just search the HD2 forums for boot screens ....
Also sometimes called bios screens ...
Yes to change the first screen you have to flash ...
the second and third you can change from inside the phone ...
There are apps that let you do it ...
JMWD Icon Changer has a utility to change the animated and static screens, the ones after the boot ...

Thanks for clearing that up for me!
there can actually be two before the animated windows one. The first one for 5 seconds, then the second when teh RGD screen comes up, then the anuimation, then the welcomehead.192
You can make your own, too, and they flash just like radios or roms.

did you read the linked thread? the splashscreen is completely independant of the rom.
Its like the radio, you flash it seperately.

Here is what i have learned.
A ROM flash is a process that can be used to change three things on your phone.
1. The boot screen ( stick together )
2. The operating system and default software (this is what most people consider a rom flash)
3. the software that controls the radio (wireless) functions.
A rom flash can change one, two, or all three of these things.
By following the instructions found in the links above, you create a rom flash that only changes 1. the boot screen and leaves 2. & 3. alone.

What is the file name for the orange "windows" screen?
Thanks for all the help everyone. No more "Stick Together"! Here's my new boot screen... my company logo.

It's either welcomehead.png or welcomehead.192.png I think. I don't have a standard rom so I'm not sure which it is. If there's animation in it, it's going to be a gif file.

Yes. The boot screen can only be changed by flashing it. The instruction and links in this thread walk you through it step by step. As someone who has just learned the process himself, I can say that it is not nearly as daunting as it first appears.
Give it a try.

I've just upped my IPL/SPL to 3.08, GSM to 2.69.11, and I'm about to try out Faria's WM6 ROM, but I'd like to backup my initial boot screen before I do- I'm not sure if I still have the image located anywhere else and would rather not re-author it!
I've already backed up the welcomehead.96.png file for the second splash screen, but I'm up against a wall trying to pin down how I can back up the inital splash screen! Any and all help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!
-Bertokamus-
If you have your original ROM backed up, just use wizard service tools and run the nbf to nb tool. When you run that it will seperate it all out in to its constituent parts. 9d000000-HTC is the first splash screen, 92000000-Splash is the second splash screen and the welcomehead.96.png is actually the third splash screen. I just can't figure out why you would need to back those up.
I wanted to back them up so I'd have them to employ in my new Faria ROM instead of the splash screens included. As I mentioned, I'm not sure that I have the initial splash screen saved anywhere, so instead of reauthoring it, it would have been convenient to have a backup.
However, since I didn't get a reply before flashing (impatience!) the splash screen is gone, anyways. I do have a "myrom" .bin backup from WizBackup, though- any chance I could pull my splash screen out of there to your knowledge?
All you have to do is download the ROM you had on there from your service provider and then use wizard service tools just like I told you how to do in my first post here and you'll be able to extract the first 2 splash screens out of it. Getting the 3rd splash screen out of it is doable, but a lot more complicated and since you said that you already have it backed up I won't go into that anyway.
Here's some AT&T splash screens that I found. I have no idea if they are the ones you had before or even what they look like but you're welcome to try them out and see if you like them or not. Just run the RUU and it will install them for you.
I'm sorry, perhaps the miscommunication here is that I totally customized/modified/created/crafted/digitally graphically enhanced 2 of the 3<?> splash screens the Wizard shows on booting... I'm not looking for the stock Cingular and WM screens. I was looking to back up my CUSTOMIZED splash screens- sorry, thought I had mentioned that... I'll try and pull apart my WizBackup .bin and see if I can dig the initial splash screen I'm looking for out of that, I guess...
-Bertokamus-
oh, I understand. I didn't realize you had done them yourself. Hopefully they're in your wizbackup.bin then. Good luck.
Hi,
I use a Cingular 8125 and I do not see the splash screen with the Windows Mobile logo whenever I soft reset or swtich my phone on. I only see the splash screen with the Cingular logo and the ROM version numbers, after which the phone directly boots into the OS.
Any idea?
Don't fret. You probably have corrupted the image file, but it's not really important to operation. Technically there are three splash screens. Two of them are part of the IPL or SPL (I can't remember which is what), and the last one, the one you're talking about, is actually sitting in the Windows directory (welcomehead.96.png). You can fix this pretty easily, and I think you have at least three options:
Ignore the problem, and just let it boot without the last splash screen.
Do a hard reset. This should repair the file, but at the price of having to configure the phone to your preferences again.
You can replace all of the splash screens with something from this thread, which I think is pretty damn cool. (If you go with this option, don't forget to run HardSPL first. You can always remove the HardSPL after flashing the new splash screens.)

Yes, I know about the three splash screens that you are talking about. However, I can see only one splash screen, with the cingular logo with the IPL/SPL version numbers.
Not that it's a big deal and anyway I can live without the other two.. but I was just curious as to why it's gone missing from mine.
Is it possible to edit the boot screen like the brand logo for example?
Can you put a different brand on it or maybe your own image?

Nice question...
I've been wondering about that as well...
AFAK it's possible to change the startup and shutdown splash screen using Advanced Configuration Tool, but I haven't found an answer for this doubt so far...
iv tryed Advanced Configuration Tool on my elf with no success.. unless im doing summat rong but im sure im not that stupid if i can use a ppc ! lol
In this case of my O2 XDA orbit 2, I wanna change the first screen when starting up (the bootscreen, shows an O2 image with firmware, radio, rom info, etc, version info in the corner).
I've already searched and all I could find was info for changing the second splash screen and the option for having an animated image.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317726
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296481&highlight=bootscreen
So I'm asking once and for all for me and others as well. Can it be changed and if so how?
Try Advanced Configuration Tools 3.3.0
Download link:
http://www.touchxperience.com/downl...ion-tool/Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3.cab
to enable, disable, change boot screens etc..
personally I did not test it I Use the Tool Above for other purposes, but I saw there is also this option...
..........OR...........
Just use the artemis splash screen tool 0.7.1
It is a .NET Framework 3.5 application - you need the Microsoft runtimes.
Also do not forget the USPL flash
For me.. when i upgraded to different ROMS.. it automatically changed all the tym.. so now the default blue o2.. is nowhere..

Hi,
i have searched all the forum... but found nothing helpful.
i want to change the the bootup screen, when i push the softreset button.
on the normal P3450 there is a black screen, showing smart mobility. in my case there is a branding screen.
how can i remove this screen or change it?
nbimg: HTC splash screen tool
This may be of some use, I have a zip (Splash Screen Changer) that I found around here somewhere, I don't know where, and I haven't tested it. I will search around to see if I can get it again, I think it was by dsixda maybe, but I am not too sure.
thank you, but i cant change it with this sort of tool. i think its a part of the rom, maybe embedded....
It is the screen you will see, before you get into the bootloader, not the windows booting screen.

Then you need to re read the thread. It creates a rom update utility to flash only the splash screen. I did this to get rid of the t-mobile splash screen.
