O2 xda exec settings - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hello all, I have got an O2 xda exec and I am running Tomals WM6.5 V10 Build 21872.5.0.62 I have searched on here for the UK O2 mobile web setting which I have entered correctly but still wont connect to the net so I am wondering if they have changed within the last few years? and does anyone have these settings??
Cheers.

when you flashed the ROM, did it come up with a connection set-up?

Hello mate yes when I flashed it it did ask for connection set up which I selected O2, the settings are there but dont seem to connect. I searched on here and found this
Go to [Start]
Tap [Settings]
Tap [Connections]
Tap [Connections]
Under [My ISP] tap [Manage Existing Connections]
Tap [Edit]. If this is not present tap [Add a new modem connection]
The [Select a Modem] drop-down box should be set to:
XDA Exec: [Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)]
Tap [Next]
The [Access Point Name] should be set to: mobile.o2.co.uk
Tap [Next]
The [Username] shouldbe set to: o2web
The [Password] should be set to: password
Leave [Domain] blank
Tap [Advanced]
On the [TCP/IP] tab, only [Use Server-assigned IP Address] should be selected
Tap the [Servers] tab
Select [ Use Specific Server Addresses]
DNS: 193.113.200.200
Alt DNS: 193.113.200.201
Tap [ok]
Tap [Finish]
The DSN and Alt DSN were not on the phone so I added them as above and then nothing, just wont connect? Above its says the password should be set to PASSWORD but when I do that and tap finish, then go back into it, the password has changed to something longer.
Just cant work it out????

When you come to 'use specific server address' you enter the DSN and Alt DSN address then below that you have WINS and Alt WINS which both have zero's as the address, Do I need to add any thing to these??

O2 MMS/GPRS/Internet Settings

Hey guys,
Wondered if any of you could help me out? I'm on contract with O2 and have the XDAIIi. Now I removed the O2 Active plugin for obvious reasons but find that I now have no connection setup for the internet. I've been to O2 and all they keep doin is giving me instructions on how to get it to connect through the O2 Active interface and I keep telling them I removed it.
I need anyone else who is on a contract, or who has the fully manual setup details to possibly post them so I can get mine setup. I'm talking about 'Modem Type', 'Access Point' etc.
Any help would be great, or a link to somewhere else that has the instructions/settings. I really need the MMS and especially GPRS/internet functionality and I'm getting nowhere with O2.
Ta chaps.
Don't understand...
I removed o2active UI stuff but my settings have remained...
Do you have nothing for your network connections from o2?

Cheers mate, that solved it an I'm now up and running once more!
Auto Setup If THis Helps
Hi Guys
I spent the weekend working on Updating WM2003SE-Sin-Merged-v2.0
(Fantastic work BTW)
I wanted more software installed, automaticly, so spent a long time playing with Sprite, and variouse levels of pre installed software.
whilst playing and restoring factory defaults using the SD backup i had made i found...
On your orriginal Extended bios there is a file called.
o2ActiveUI_engl_4rom.CAB
I installed this, and then found the executable file that used to run on a factory default model, after a hard reset.
(screen asking if you were pay as you go, or pre-paid, or post paid, and which internet setting you wanted installed.
I have now put this file on my XDA in storage, and can run it after a hard reset to setup internet for GPRS and WAP, in just a few second :0p
I have not yet worked out if i can do the same thing with MMS as i believe MMS was updated drematicly with WM2003 SE.
any way, dont know if it helps anyone. but thought id let you know.
IF anyone wants more info on what i have done, ask here, and ill try to write a less rush, and more detailed post.

UK o2 active

Hi,
I have a XDA II mini from Australia (magician) (dont htink they were released here) and I just got a o2 PAYG sim.
I want to access the o2 active service, especially the streetmaps (free until 21 sept i think), but I have no idea how to connect to it to use the service. The o2.co.uk website doesnt say much, and doesnt seem to support any of the o2 xda phones which I think is pretty stupid.
Has anyone been able to access the o2 active service?
I have looked at these two threads
http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...rder=asc&highlight=problem+o2+uk+gprs&start=0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=53975
and followed them. My xda says that I have a GPRS connection, although I cant seem to access any webpages except for www.o2.co.uk
best thing you can do to use the device as pre pay is download and instal the mini S ROM upgrade from the o2 XDA WEB site, has auto configure for post and pre pay users

Actually, it was.
Edit: Now I'm not so sure...
Anyway - go to http://xda.o2.co.uk/ for the information you're after. Why there's no link from the main O2 website is a mystery to me....
will the ROM for the Mini S work on my mini?
I dont think the Mini even uses Windows Mobile 5.0
Has anyone tried this?
I dont want to kill my phone

DO NOT USE IT.
Mini is a Magician, Mini S is a Wizard (WM5). And it has been confirmed that a Magician will not run WM5.
yeah didnt think so...
i think its pretty stupid.
Ive tried installing the o2 active on it, but its a load of bs.
Im not even sure if its the same thing...
ah well... what a waste... looks like i will have to get a new sim... the only reason why i chose o2 was for that streetmaps functionality from o2 active. Their call rates seem pretty expensive compared to the others

HELP PLEASE moving from Vodafone to O2??????

Hi
I wonder if anyone here can help me please.
I have the Vodafone 1605 version of the Hermes all configured (surprise surprise) for Vodafone.
I have just moved over to o2 on one of theier sim only contracts and really want to continue to use mt Hermes phone.
HOWEVER I cannot get 3G to work for video calling, or my browser to work.
I have an email from o2 to do the setup but I cannot really make much sense of it.
I have downloaded from wiki the o2 cab and installed this but again without any lsuccess.
I am doing something silly?
Cheers.
Robin
Hi Robin
Oh dearie me - this could take a while!!
First I would make sure the vodaphone settings are gone. Which my not be as easy as it sounds but we can try.
Go to Start>settings>connections>connections icon Tap the "Manage existing connections" entry. There will be an entry in the list. To start afresh tap and hold it and an option to delete comes up. Delete it. The list should be empty, if not continue this until it is.
This done do a soft reset and then go back to same place to make sure list is still empty.
If the old settings come back then we have a problem with the voda customisation.
If the list is still empty this is good!
You can then try the following:
I suggest sticking to the first RED GPRS part initially - NOTE the different entries for Payg and Contract.
Then skip to the paragraph below entitled PROXY

Hi Mike
Now that is what I call a comprehensive reply!!!!!
MANY, many thanks.
I have been told that o2 forgot to add the GPRS provision to my account and that it won't be active until tomorrow so I will wait until then so i can test each step of the way.
Again my thanks for sucha complete reply.
Robin
I've also got the Vodafone 1605 and use it with both vodafone and O2 SIM cards. I did dump the vodafone ROM ages ago so I don't know if there is anything in the VOD ROM which will prevent other operators settings from working.
I use the attached cab files which make my set-up work for whichever SIM is fitted. The Bandswitch program just lets me switch on or off connection settings for the operator I'm using - it works a treat and is very quick.

I have just seen the new cabs posted and am debating wether to leave whaqt i have working, working OR..........
To try the cabs and see if they complete the job.

I hope that is the worst of your troubles... my 12 months with O2 were horrendous. I ended up, amongst other things, paying for things such as MMS allowances when my account on their system was misconfigured in such a way that it never actually worked properly. customer support is a bloody nightmare, having to deal with the tier 1 CSRs made me want to pull my hair out at times.
all I can say is that i'm glad the (web-only?) sim only packages are one-month rolling contracts. There's two reasons I moved away from O2 - their customer support and their tariffs. curiously enough, those are also the two reasons I'll be staying with T-Mobile for the foreseeable future, unless they ever stopped doing flat-rate 3G!
if you still need help later / tomorrow, I'll dig out my old XDA 2i and get the gprs and mms settings off it if that'll help you (the phone is in Brum and I'm not, at least until the evening).
I have to say that talking to their support trying to set up this phone has not been a pleasant experience.
I really liked the look of t-mobile, particularly the fast data rates available and good tariffs BUT I got my wife a t-mobile Pay as you go phone a couple of weeks ago and it is unusable where we live.
No signal in the house and very spotty around the village.
I tried to return it but they insisted their system said I had a signal so would not take it back!!!!!!!
Again many thanks for all the help.

help setting up mobile internet (wap/gprs)

Hey guys.
Can someone help me out with this...
I had a tmobile MDA (wizard), i have since upgraded to the Kaiser. But my mum wants to use the old wizard. The wizard is already unlocked (lokiwiz yay) so i just put my mums O2 sim in the phone and it works. But things like going online won't work, i assume i need to enter some settings somewhere. (which settings and where???)
I tried ringing O2 to get the info, but they started asking what phone i had and then they said they didnt have the MDA/Wizard, and so i said a sony erricson just so that she would send info, but when i recieved the text message it was blank or at least appeared blank.
Can someone from here tell me which settings i need to enter and where.
Also i am still running the wizard on the tmobile rom (second one they made for MDA). is there a better rom for me to use.
Thanks guys.

Unfortunately, the sim card controls the internet, texting, and online accesses. By putting your mom's O2 sim in your old wizard doesn't change anything. These sim cards have numbers on them to identify them with the type of device activated for. What you need to do is contact your carrier and explain to them what you said in your post, and get the sim re-activated.
Thanks for the help hotdog.
I'll ring the O2 people again and explain things. Only reason i didn't go into depth with them before was because i thought they would tell me im not allowed to use an O2 sim in an unlocked Tmobile phone.
