Track Names with Bluetooth audio - Hero, G2 Touch General

I have tried a number of roms now and have not been able to get the hero to send track names to my car head unit. I can listen to music through bluetooth fine with all roms but track name always comes up blank.
Has anybody else managed to get track names over bluetooth working?
thanks

Ok after more research it seems that in order to have track names over bluetooth AVRCP 1.3 is needed,
Unfortunately android doesn't have this and only runs AVRCP 1.0 so it looks like this function wont ever come to the hero..

Car Stereo

I know that there are plenty of bluetooth enabled headunits out there, but I'm wondering what functionality it has with the Cingular 8125.
Does anyone have any experience or information on what a bluetooth enabled head unit would be able to do?
Would it be limited to the actual phone functionality?
Are you able to play music off of the phone as well / use voice commands, etc.?
Is there one brand in particular to consider?
Thanks,
MK.
With my hermes my parrot ck3100 and a registry tweak, I can use the hands free function and also listen all audio played in the pda (for example tomtom, podcast or wathever)

The inconvenient is that I've lost the voice recognition but it can be fixed..
I've been using the Sony MEX-BT5000 with my Wizard for 6 weeks now. The Sony headunit supports the following BT profiles:
A2DP -- for streaming music
AVRCP -- for controlling media player
OPP -- for transferring phonebook entries
HFP -- hands-free profile for phone
When I get a phone call, the radio/CD mutes and displays the caller ID info; pressing a button on the Sony answers the phone. Speakerphone performance is very good -- the mic is hidden behind the faceplate, but it still picks up your voice. When the call is over, the radio or CD resumes.
I haven't done much with A2DP/AVRCP yet, but the A2DP is at least as good as that in the Moto HT820, based on some brief tests. Also, if you run nav software that gives directions, the directions should come over the car speakers -- haven't tried that yet.
A2DP/AVRCP require a particular ROM, correct?
Would all headunits that are bluetooth enabled support those BT profiles?
Thanks for the info. Will definitely look into that particular headunit.
Appreciate the help,
MK.
A2DP/AVRCP are built into most of the customized ROMs that used to be here -- I used the Tornado A2DP hack instead. AFAIK, only the Sony headunit supports A2DP/AVRCP. You might also want to look at the Sony MEX-BT2500, just announced today -- its price is somewhat lower than the 5000.
Nice. Thanks for the info. Both of those headunits have the functionality that I want. Perfect.
Found out that I do have A2DP/AVRCP, so I'm set. Now I have to either impluse on the BT5000 or wait for the BT2500.
Thanks for the help. I really do appreciate it.

Mono Bluetooth for music

I am currently running Dudes 1.1 cupcake right now and loving every
part of it except that I can't seem to listen to my music via mono bluetooth. I have a few regular bluetooths for talking and would like to listen to my music thru them also. I read about stereo bluetooth working and all, but does it not work on mono bluetooth.
Please help..
Also, if I must get a stereo bluetooth, can you suggest were to go to get a cheap good one that will work. Thanks
bluetooth music help
someone really needs to help please.. Stuck using a standard MP3 player with CORDED headphones. .. Please guide me to getting bluetooth mono/stereo on my DUDE'S CUPCAKE ...
i wish i could get this to work as well, i have a phenominal bluetooth headset (mono) and am allowed to wear it around at work all day (but no stereo headphones) since its a product we sell, and would love to be able to listen to my mp3's aswell
Previously used a blackberry pearl with crackberry software to run MONO BLUETOOTH for my music. Now I lost that with G1. I LOVE my G1, so don't get me wrong. I just wish they had something to offer mono bluetooth music. If they did, I swear it would be perfect thanks to DUDES Cupcake.
Yep, i would like to know this to. I know it can be done because you can force the sound after the call for like 10 to 20 seconds then it goes out.

There are mono headsets that support a2dp ,why not buy one of them instead of trying to re-write the code

I could but I like my Motorola H690
more HELP
I am caving in.. I will buy a Stereo Bluetooth headset, if i am guarenteed it will work on DUDE's CUPCAKE 1.1a .. I see on the comparision chart that it doesn't support stereo bluetooth for music.. Can someone please confirm or deny this..
If confirmed, what is the cheapest bluetooth i can buy that will play my music.
If DUDE's doesnt support, what can you recommend to install to work Stereo/Mono bluetooth. I was leaning towards jf 1.51, but i would love to keep DUDE's
Thanks again
Dudes build will work with stereo bluetooth because my car's head unit will accept it and works great just not with my mono motorola headset.
Hate to bring up a older thread but I am wondering if anyone has found a way to do this. I dont want to buy a a new bluetooth because i have no use for them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
^Bump. I would like to know as well.
When I pair my phone with the Bluetooth (Plantronics 925) and select options - I see it connected to phone audio and media audio. But when I play music (stock player), it plays through the speakers. I did try a Google search on this, but not seeing a solution to it

Do any roms support bluetooth audio information being sent to headunits?

The headunit on my car is getting some kind of information from the phone but its only on the first connection, when the track is changed the audio display wont change with whatever is on the phone.
I know the head unit works right because if I hook up an iPhone with bluetooth it will display just what is playing and change as the songs change.
I am using Cyanogen and Deck, both send a little something but nothing updates?

Nexus 4 4.2.2 and RNS 315 car system issues/tweaks

Hi,
I am a happy switchover to Nexus 4 from my iPhone, only thing I am starting to miss are some integration bits with my car audio system.
I am currently connecting the phone via bluetooth and it is working well, I can stream music and use built-in car dialler, however, I do not see what is currently playing on the car dash.
When I had the same setup using iPhone, I could see the currently playing song information. I can still skip to the next song using car's steering wheel buttons but I only see "Bluetooth audio" on the display.
I am using the default Google Play app to play music - have also tried with dogcatcher but no avail. On the iPhone various app worked - Music, Podcasts..
Second issue I have - is it possible to "force" phone calls to background when connected to bluetooth headset? I would quite prefer the satnav to stay on instead of seeing the current caller's information - as I already see that on my dash.
Thanks!

The first problem is caused by you and other people buying iPhone. You have contributed to pushing 3rd party manufacturers into supporting proprietary apple formats and communication protocols.
There is a perfectly fine Bluetooth protocol for track display, but your car stereo doesn't suport that, only the proprietary Apple one.
Hopefully you are now aware of the evil lock-in tactics that Apple have been engaging in, and next time you will check the product specifications to see see if your purchase is going to lock you in in any way.
Volkswagen and their bluetooth devices work fine with Android. It's Android that lacks a proper protocol to push that info to the radio. I know this because I worked with VW for months on troubleshooting the issue. Eventually, I obtained a stock galaxy S3 and it displays info just fine. With a custom 4.2.1/4.2.2 rom, it does not, just displays "BT-Audio".
CM is adding in bt tag support, but it currently doesn't work with play music, but is noted to work with pandora.
OP - your second issue is not possible. The radio automatically flips to the most recent info it has to display to you. You can manually toggle it back IIRC, as I can on mine.
I have the same issue:
See thread which explains a lot and could solve your issue:

We need to get AVRPC in our devices then it would work.
I drive an A5 SB with no go : ( to bad
yea the bluetooth works on my ford focus, but doesnt show the info of what track is playing.

Bluetooth connection

Hello everyone. I am enjoying my s10+. I don't have any issues with it except for one. I can't get Bluetooth audio to activate on my jvc double din in my car. The model is kw-340bt. On my pixel 3 xl it works with no problem. My s10+ can connect to the unit but it only lets me make phone calls. When I go to it in Bluetooth settings the audio option is off. When I try to turn it on it attempts to turn on then turns off. It will not come on. I have even reset my unit to factory settings and still the same thing happens. Does anyone have any other options I can try?
Yeah I'm having trouble myself with my ps4 controller, it connects but doesnt do anything! And even if I turn off the bluetooth it doesnt disconnect! What hell Samsung. It's so bad I have to force close / clear and data/ cache on bluetooth system app.
This happened to someone I knew when they used smart switch upgrading from their S5 to the S8+and moved over their settings. Unfortunately a factory reset was all they could find to fix it.
This may sound weird but I had problems getting my TV to connect. I had to go through the new Smartthings app, look for nearby devices. When I tapped on the TV it downloaded something and then I could connect.
Audio track data not updating on Bluetooth car audio head unit
Same. My previous phone (LG V20) was a breeze to connect via Bluetooth to car audio (Subaru Impreza MY15) & happily displayed the track information for my audio collection.
Fast forward to the new S10+ (exynos) & while it connects for audio, track information is only displayed for the first track & remains on-screen without change.
I've gone into developer options, and while I can change the Bluetooth AVRCP Versions from AVRCP 1.3, AVRCP 1.4 (default), AVRCP 1.5 & AVRCP 1.6, the Bluetooth Audio Codec Selection always defaults back to SBC.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Better yet, does anyone have a fix that I could apply???

Every phone that I have ever had always goes back to default with the audio options. I never understood why. They give you options but you can't use the options. Makes no sense.
