I convinced my father to get the X10 as he wanted a SE phone but having had a quick look at it, I can't see how to remove the sim card..any help please?
:-/ Remove battery first & then you'll be able to remove sim card also
If you have sweaty/oily fingers, you and try using a sticky/scotch tape (or whatever you call that in your country), apply it on the exposed part of the SIM card, then drag it out.
Some would recommend fingernails or tweezers, but I think it'll cause some damage. So I prefer the tape method.

Ah so there is no simple, slide out method. That really is quite weird.

Well, don't thank me. Thanks to a certain seasoned Aunty (that's how we address ladies who are older than us in my country XD) from the Sony Ericsson Service Center who thought me this method.
Look on another point of view - rather than saying it'sweird, why not think of it as at least the SIM card won't come loose easily?
Would be a ***** to see your phone suddenly announce "SIM not found" if you accidentally give your phone a bump.

1. Remove the stylus
2. Put the device in your left hand.
3. Buttons in your handpalm
4. Your finger must be aroud the top of the device
5. Place your right hand on the back of the device
6. Move your right hand upwards.
It requires some force.
I had a hard time opening it up too....didn't want to break my shiny new device And yes....it IS in the manual (the quickstart guide that is).
But i can understand people are sometimes too carefull

I think it was the phrasing of the question....
Once you have mastered the cover it's obvious that the sim slots into the sim shaped hole under the battery.
The cover is a bugger though - it's pretty flimsy plastic so you don't want to risk cracking it open. The retailer I bought mine from mentioned something about "it helps to lift the cover when removing it" - so a few others must have had this prob. I just shrugged it off thinking "it's a battery cover ffs - how hard can it be" - and found myself cursing the damn thing as soon as I got home.

I dropped my Fairphone, and found this one in a drawer. Probably got it from some-one, way back when. Been trying to open it, no clue. Today - finally time for an online search - I looked for an hour to solve this puzzle. It's not in the manual, can't find the quick start guide. And there you were, discussing it some ten years ago )

I have one account that I cannot enter with a camera phone. I've never really had an issue with switching sim cards, but the Advantage poses a problem. I've been using a small chunk of egrip, but I was wondering if cutting a fingernail slot near the end would work. Would I damage the sim card (its ability to work) by cutting a slot near the end to use a finger nail or even a hole for the stilius?

It's easy to slide it out if you press it DOWN and PULL it out at the same time. Don't try to dig your finger under the card.

I found it difficult as well so I took a SMALL piece of scotch tape
and attached to both sides of the sim in a loop.
It gives you a little handle that tucks away neatly when you close the door.
I can remove mine fairfly easily. Just raise the little 'door' that keeps it in place, put your finger flat on top of the sim card, and slide it right out.

I do that also, but I'm of the opinion that bending back the door tabs enough to do the sim extraction 1-2 times a day will shorten their life to only a couple of weeks. I think I'm gonna drill a stilus size hole near the end, then it can be pulled out with the stilus and out the slot between the door and the case. Still waiting for someone to tell me if that will ruin the sim. I'll post a picture if it works.
@ Hitch, I had an old Sim so I drilled a "1/16" hole at the Center End of it and tried it out. It worked out pretty good and the phone still picked it up. The stylus fit in it perfectly and pulled it out easily. Give it a shot and post back...TJ
i have used a knife to cut a fingernail slot in my sim (did that about 1 year back when i first got athena ... it works fine
but yes one of my tabs is broken on the door

So...
I own a Bell Atrix. My carrier is Bell.
I flashed my phone with OLYEM 1.4.2.
Rooted it with Seven's script.
Made sure ADB was allowed to su.
Installed GingerBlur.
Phone got stuck in a reboot loop.
Re-flashed with OLYEM.
Now, I cannot mount my microSD. The settings show as unavailable and the manual mount is greyed out. I have tried a battery pull, a different microSD etc. My microSD works flawlessly in a different phone. I really do not know what crapped it. Was it GingerBlur, the flashing or just bad luck...
This means I cannot root the phone anymore and im stuck with OLYEM and a defective phone.
I took the phone to Bell for repair. They said it's been over 30 days from the buy date so they have to send it to an external firm to have it checked... I just hope they will not come back to me saying I voided my warranty.
Please let me know if you have had this problem or if you think there is something to be done if worst comes to worst.

I had the same issue but it wasn't related to updating. I had to take the sd card out and press down on the metal piece that holds the card in place to get it to have better contact. This worked for a while and then i pressed down even harder and it wouldn't read at all so I had to stick something under the metal thing and pry it back up and now it works great.
Just semantics, but it should be "micro SD", rather than "mini SD" (which is a different card type).

I used the semi-pointed but round end of a nice pen to press it down and when I had to reverse it I used the nail file part of some little finger nail clippers. Just stuff I had sitting around at my desk at work
Thanks for the suggestion! If I get it back and it's not fixed, I will try that. Bell rep told me it would take from 3 to 6 weeks. Yeah... 6 weeks.
Meanwhile, they gave an HTC Desire Z. I really like SenseUI. It works so much better for me when I compare it to Motoblehh. However, I do not like the feeling of the phone. The movable parts do not appeal to me.

Ok, going really basic and this probably is not your issue, but I just had the same issue with a camera and one phone not recognizing one of my cards. I had to reformat it in windows and it has worked perfectly since. Probably because I was switching between so many devices or just coincidence, just passing this on.

i just get this issue i want to try gingerbreak and i couldnt find my micro sd i reboot and so on many times, perhaps i make it work you need push pretty well, and try moving when its on the phone

There are two metal plates that need to make contact - if they don't the card isn't detected.

In the lower left of the sd card slot you can see the two plates. When the card is in the slot, these two plates should touch. When I got my phone, they were not touching, so I bent them slightly to make the contact.
If the link doesn't work, just go to the iFixit teardown and look at the pics at the bottom of the first page.

I just got my phone back. Looks like the firmware flash was what broke the phone. The repair slip shows a software update only.
Im just happy they repaired it. I think I will wait for a Bell SBF...

Does your eject with a pop out or do you have to find a way to slide it out by applying some pressure on it and then sliding it out? Not so easy to change this SIM card. At times you find yourself needing some tweezers to pull the freakin SIM card out. Not god for frequent travelers.

M8 yes its a problem if you change sims.. but a solution for you is a Magic-Sim .. so you can have 2 sims .. and you dont take out anything. I suppose for me a 2nd problem could had been to Dissasemble the Spigen Armor case.. take out the backplate...

I have seen only the dual for S4 m8 in work in a friends phone. It works fine. It appears a program inside the phone and in there you choose which sim you want, also you can tell that Sim1 will be up for 30mins then sim2 for other 30 mins.. pretty handy but you only need to change between sims.
If I take out the battery, it comes out fine. If I leave the battery in, on the other hand... Well, not so easy as it's not meant to be removed whilst the battery is attached.
As suggested by someone on one of the forums, I use a push pin, and it just allows me to slide out the sim easily.
just take some tape..
But after 10-15 times it came easier out !!
I don't believe that is good to constantly changing the sim for the pins, I don't believe the pins it will last long but again I don't know.

My phone fell and i too became a victim of the uninsertable sim card and now im stuck with 3g.
Anybody found a fix for this?
Looks like the mechanism which holds the sim card broke or something.

Either that or just super glue it. The spring felt a little too strong for tape so I went with the permanent fix.

Where exactly did you apply the Super Glue? And how did you hold the SIM in place while the glue set? The spring is pretty strong and "spits" the card out forcefully...

I applied it on top of the card. This worked for a little bit but failed a few days later. Too much glue got onto the contacts. I've given up now. Just going to use it with only 3G till I get a new phone.

Thanks for the reply. I was afraid of the super glue not holding up for too long. I might try hot glue, if I can keep the SIM wedged in there long enough for it to cure.

Solution without tape or glue
There is a notch on the back cover that can move and hold the SIM in place on the back cover on the phone.
If you slide the back snug (back cover from right to left assuming the word SHARP is upright) putting pressure on the notch area it will slide / push the SIM into position. Carefully snap the back on and you are good to go. I've had the problem for months but it seemed like an easy fix. It will eventually go on its own to 4G, but a restart works faster especially if you are unsure if it is in place. If you drop the phone or switch memory cards often then maybe use tape or something else, as the SIM is small and might not be easy to find if it shoots out.
Found the fix!!!!!
OK all you have to do is right above the SIM card you can peel back the tape / sticker once you do that there will be a little tab in the top left right corner that you can pop up and then the other way . then u will see that when u stick your SIM card all the way in and you'll see a little bar that comes down in the top left corner n you'll notice that when you press your SIM card in there's a little bar that comes down if you if you take something and basically press that bar upwards (like a needle)bend it up it will actually keep your SIM card in works for me then just put the back on it works for me my 4G works[/B

Mine is broke too and only gets 3G.
I'll have to try that repair and see if it works.
Must be a bad engineering on the sim holder.
