Hi Folks
First time on here and a noob to the HTC HD2.
I was wondering if there is a list of Rom versions for the HTC that I can take a look at as the one that came with my phone is a bit bland now and would love a change. Any links or recommendations would be great.
Regards
Frankie
Sticky: Overview of the different ROM's & Features

Hi,
With the FTP site problems I was wondering if you could post links here to ROMS for the HTC Artemis.
I am really looking for the iphone lookalike ROM so if someone has it or other good looking ones please post here with alternative links.
Thanks.
There isnt really an iPhone lookalike ROM as per say, although there are a few applications which will make your artemis look and feel like the iPhone.
Hey Guy's

hey nice to see you using this website, the cooked roms work fine on the hermes and there are some with a touch orientated interface like the iphone, not exactly but they are still pretty good.
there are some offical roms though if you dont want to try the cooked ones they are listed in the wiki.
have fun and if you have any more questions ask

Oh no...again..
Dear Gregs79
as i see you only joined this forum 2 days ago.
the easy way of flasing of the HD2 is possible since HSPL is released on 4 jan.
as it has just started the roms are still furter developed.
i'm not going to give you an advice on rom flashing, roms are a personal thing. layout, speed, light or full to name a few.
but i wil give you as a newbie the advice to read this forum, questions as this one you ask only irritate as you can see with the reply from eddieul
Indeed, there are just too much criteria to take into account; speed, usability, free space, removed/added apps or drivers, os version, et cetera; roms are a personal choice.
I do think it would be nice to have a rollup thread with all available roms and their particularities, but it's not like ckecking each thread bothers me anyway.
If unsure, better stick with official. Currently it's best choice for all.

First of all, apologies for the post, I was not intending to wind anyone up! I have spent the last couple of days looking at the forum, but not being familiar with the Windows Mobile interface and never having had a windows mobile phone before, I have absolutely no knowledge of what things are!
I appreciate and have seen that there are variations on ROMs, but as Yunabeco above states, it would be nice to have a thread containing all available ROMs with release dates and not just the official ones.
Apologies once again.

Alright mate, cut the man some slack, he's already apologised for the question no need to bite his head off. We're not all born with the knowledge when first coming here and basic questions will get asked time and time again, nothing wrong with a little patience, we all started from scratch at one time or another.
I think the best place to start is if you have stock rom 1.43, flash the official 1.61 and then move onto varients of the stock builds like l3v5y's or Dutty's.
Once you've become comfortable with those you can look at the other 6.5.3 builds if you're brave but sticking to stock builds is no bad thing as the HD2 is a pretty awesome bit of kit out the box.
Hi,
I'm a total newbie to flashing ROMs, and WinMo phones in general. Given this is the case, I have no idea what to look for in a cooked ROM. I know the features I'd like, but it is pretty tricky for a newbie to know what features / versions are included in each ROM. Is there a relatively simple list of available ROMs compared, or is it a case of trawling though every thread and picking out the details?
TIA
ZS

Thanks for the input, mox, but this is kind of the problem I'm facing (no offence). Everyone has their own opinions on what is good, but you might have different requirements to me. I just don't know how to get a workable measure of how it would be for me. (yes, I know - I can try them all but I don't have the time to go through each one in turn )
For what it's worth, though, Dutty's 0.8 is the one I favour most at the minute anyway.
i don't think there is an "easy way'. you have to try a few to decide which is the best for you. i have artemis 3.0 and don't see any reason to change it yet, it's that good! dutty, laurentius26, xannytech, nrgz28 are also amongst my favorites. hard choice mate...
I'm using Dutty's HG v08 as well and it's the best I've used...or try Leo Lite
the ones based on the 2.07 ROM have the gash looking buttons at the bottom - some like them but I don't, prefer it to look like stock...
get the HG v08 ROM, the one I use, from HERE

This is the most important line in your opening posting.
There are definitely some basics you can count on for selecting a ROM, but there is no list of all HD2 ROMs with full description etc.
As you correctly mention, it is best to read the threads of the various ROMs, if there are already a lot of entries, you can focus on the first and last couple of pages to get an overall picture.
Maybe the biggest difference between all the ROMs out there are the WinMo builds - the more official 21xxx builds which come with the start menu at the top of the screen, while the beta builds 23xxx/24xxx/28xxx come with the start menu at the bottom.
Everything else is nicely described by each chef.
Happy discovering!
Hi ZombieSheep,
I am afraid you will have to look through the initial posts for each rom, create a comparison chart of your own, identify which ROM has the features you most want, and install it.
"Best ROM" type threads cause a lot of anguish and grief on here so we tend to shut them down very quickly. The best ROM is the one that suits you best.
Hope you are successful in your quest.
Closing this now.

If there's one thing I've learned is that stuff is rarely handed to you around here. The rest of us have worked to get what we want; meaning read and figure it out on your own. The first few posts of each ROM thread will inform you of what the cook has done and you can figure out from there if it fits your needs.
...Wow. You do realize that the stock 3.14 ROM does work with the majority of Android distros, and that by installing CoOkies Home Tab you can increase the number of links to however many you want....right?
So i can use the stock ROM 3.14 with my Mdeejay Evo Matted Android?
if So, How can i Increase the number of quick links in my Stock ROM?
sorry if i am very noob but i just get my htc hd2 2 days ago xD

Wow...you were once a noob as well seeking help and every now and then it would be nice to get a helping hand on here. Sometimes it would be great to just meet someone to take them under their wing and help them...dont really feel as if that would be to much to ask.
See the thing is though, most of the time people troll the forums as un-registered people, find something they like/want, try to download and find that they have to be registered to do so, join...download what they wanted without reading instructions and whatnot, then come and complain or ask for a handout without so much as looking at the stickies. It's not that we don't like n00bs at XDA, quite the contrary, without new blood XDA would die off, it's that people that come and expect to be spoon fed information is something that I for one cannot stand. There is a wealth of information if you just look for it.
