So, I rooted my phone perfectly fine, no problems, it caught after 5 times trying. My wife's phone on the other hand will not catch for the life of me. I have been at it for 4 days now, I am pushing almost 1000 tries easily. I do not know why my phone worked out great, yet my wife's phone is being a *&^$%!! I uninstalled Sync and PDANet and reinstalled again and it will only catch "offline" once maybe twice. Any idea? I can catch my phone time after time after time again. Wifes phone, I wanna pull my hair out!
Well any help would be appricated, otherwise, I'll continue pulling my hair out and trying to root her phone....
Try putting your SD card into her phone... not sure why, but the SD cards are making a difference for some of us. I tried a bazillion different things, but had my ADATA sd card from my G1. I formatted the Samsung SD that came with the phone, popped it in, and BAM, first try it worked... just a suggestion though, as this doesn't work for everyone.

I can confirm that the SDcard trick worked for me too.
I followed fermunky throughout his posts on other threads as I was having the same issues.
used the 8gig i got with the phone, formatted it in a card reader, and boom first try.

Cool to hear. For others reading this, remember that this is working randomly, so don't be surprised if it doesn't work for you.
With that said, I wonder if someone can explain on a technical level why a different SD works for those of us...
Thanks for the replies, I did do that tho. I put my SDcard in her's, I formatted her SDcard and tried again, I formatted my card "after it failed" and tried it, I had an additional 8GB SDcard that i tried, I tried no SDcard while trying to get it to catch loop. It just will not catch but once or twice. its bazar.

When I press gallery it says my SD card is unmounted. I powered off, removed card, cleaned card and phone, then I restarted it and it worked but now I'm getting it again. Pretty annoying. Also, is this the type of issue covered by the warranty?
I ran a search on Google and nexus one general forum before posting, thanks in advance for any help...
oh wow....i just unmounted the card, then i powered down. when i powered on it said the card was damaged and i may need to reformat it.
So i put it in my laptop and it says it needs to be formatted.
Have i lost all of the stuff on my card and, if so, what could have caused this? its kind of devastating for me.
The ONLY thing i did today that was out of the ordinary was install zumodrive on the phone.
its a class 6, A Data 8 gig and ive had it for a matter of 6 months, im guessing it was the phone or an app that caused it?
Unless you were constantly removing the card while a device was in the middle of writing to it, I dont think the phone it self would have caused much damage... I'm thinking it was more likely a defective card...

bummer, so i probably should just trash it as opposed to formatting it and using it again?
i have had a card fail on me, and was able to get it back and it worked fine. seemed to be just a tad bit slower the second time around, but nonetheless it worked.
it was weird thought, windows wouldnt detect it, and my phone wouldnt either. i had to go into drive management and it was seen there. once i got that squared away and go tit formatted all worked well.
as far as saving your files, im not sure... i try to backup my sdcard about once a week (simply overwrite any files that havent changed). you may be able to use a disk recovery utility, such as the ones that are used to retrieve files from dead HDD's.
i had this problem on stock
i ended up putting my sd card in the pc and backing everything up (everything was fine even after the phone showed it was corrupted)
reformatted my sdcard
tested and still got the error
so i pulled the sdcard back out, started the phone up without any sdcard inserted. after putting card back in and booting up never had the problem again
since rooting, i've never run into this problem either
Have a problem with my SD card when reading/writing to it. I've done just about everything i can to wipe data from it and it always pops back up.
called HTC today and spent about 2 seconds with the tech guy before he said yeah, its been happening..
apparently the 8GB sandisk SD cards are presenting a problem.
HTC doesnt have any available to replace it and dont know when they will. i went to my sprint store and i'm grabbing one from them tomorrow when the manager comes in.
so just an FYI if you start to see weird things with your SD card not deleting or working right you can get sprint/HTC to replace it.
My sd was acting a little wonky yesterday with writing problem, getting read only notifications. It worked fine yhrough a card reader. I did a wipe and haven't seen the problem since. But good to know if I see the problem again.
Well i bought a Droid X yesterday for my dad for 60 bucks phone works great just the backlight is dead. The Problem i am having is my micro sd card does not read i have formatted it in fat32 and still a no go. I have no clue what i am doing wrong. The SD card does read in my Xoom and my bionic so i know its not the sd card. and the chips in my phone and tablet does not work in the droid x.
SD Card remount
I had a problem, and have fixed the same problem for many friends, where my SD card could not be read. My first recommended fix is:
Goto Settings > Storage > Unmount SD Card
Then simply remount the SD Card once the unmount has completed.
If this does not work let me know and we'll try something else.
well i just found out one of the pins for the sd card is shot so the phone is shot. Is there anyway i can save the phone or is it just trash now.
I really don't like TouchWiz at all, so, when the first ICS sources became available, I started porting AOSP to our device.
There are still some major and many minor bugs, but ROM seems to be stable and usable.
Please look for buglist below, so you can decide, do you need to flash it or not.
I'll try to fix those bugs as soon as possible, so please, don't ask when something will be fixed, I really don't know for what. I'd like wast more for Louis Vuitton Luggage
Description: This is clean and clear ICS (4.0.3) without any modifications. This is not CM, just AOSP. It may be used with tablet or with phone UI.
Take out the SD card and put it in another phone and when something pops up, you press ok then when its done, you put it back in your phone at it should work fine

If you've swapped around several microSD cards in your phone and none of them work, your phone is the problem. It more than likely has a dead card reader.
The only fix for this is to get a new phone.

Hey,
I just took out my SD card to view it on my PC and when I returned it to the phone, it would not read. No problems on thePC, but the HD2 says there's no card mounted. Tried another card and it showed up so I put mine back in and it would not. Put the other one in again and now it doesn't show up either. Can't find anyone that has had a similar problem by searching.
ARRRGGHHHH!!!!
Any ideas?
Thank you,
OZ
Adapter?
Hey,
I guess you used an adapter to view your micro-sd card on your PC?!
My adapter has a switch on the side which enables/disables read/write protection for the micro-sd card. If yours has that too, make sure that the read/write protection is disabled!
Greetz
Thank you,
It has started being seen again. Don't know why it stopped or restarted... Lost use for a few hours.

Happened AGAIN!
Okay, this is getting annoying...
Rebooted the phone and go a message sayiing "damaged SD card" rebooted again, same thing. took card out, works with a reader on PC still. reinstalled and no good. repeated three times and rebooted again...found it, this time.
Anyone have any reason this could be happening?
Thanks,
OZ
So, I have a 64gb class 10 card from Patriot in here, which I formatted from the phone when I first got it. Last week, the device kept telling me there was an issue with the card and that it needed to be formatted. Despite rebooting, remounting and checking the contacts, the only thing that seemed to work was to pull the battery.
Today, I had the same issue and went through the same motions. Only now, the phone doesn't seem to think the card is even there. I checked the log in recovery and found multiple lines saying it failed to mount.
I'm not currently able to test the card in another device, or another card in the slot. But until I am in a couple of hours does anyone here have a suggestion?
Going to have to do some research on that...

I've read that even the S3 was finicky with different microSD card brands, and it seems to continue in the S4. You may have to try a Samsung brand card or I suggest search around to see which brands people have had the best luck with and go with that. Until then check if your card is ok with a reader or another phone and then if you have to, use the lifetime warranty or exchange at store. I've been using a Lexar brand (also Class 10) for well over two weeks now in my S4 with zero issues, but a couple of weeks is no test.

You could try to repair it with a Windows PC. I had a similar issue and the following fixed it for me.
Open a cmd prompt and type
chkdsk /X /F E:
Where E was the drive letter of my SD card when mounted using a card reader. You will need to put the appropriate drive letter there.
If this helps thank "mr_deimos" at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367912 That is where I found this info.
I had the problem with the s3 and s4 . I even had to call sandisk and replace it . But at the end it kept doing the same thing . So what I did was put it in my computer and did a full format it toke about two to three to format it but it finally worked. I called samsung I mean I tryed everything. So I talk to a I.t. guy and told me to do that and it work but keep in mind my card was a sandisk 64gb class 10.Hope that help.
