During a call
When a call is in progress, a shade covers the Phone dialer’s onscreen buttons to prevent accidental taps. Only the Keypad and End Call buttons are active.
Well for some strange reason this is no longer the case with my HD2, the shade is no longer there and all buttons are active without having to pull down which is annoying the hell out of me as I keep pressing random buttons with my cheek, anywhere in settings to turn this back on? I cant find it grrrrr!!!!

Have you installed BsBTweaks? If so, you've de-selected the Phone Slide Cover option.
Nope, no bsb tweeks, its really odd, and i cant find it on the settings page, oh well, was due another hard reset anyway!
Do you have screen protector? . If yes, take it out. And your problem is solved . Plz notify me . If you have a screen protector its not necessary, it will not correct your problem to make hard reset. If not..then we will what we can do for you
I have a different problem? When I make or receive a call as soon as I accept, the screen goes dark and I cannot see the display. I can tap any button and then it shows the display. Can I change that to c the display all the time? On my iPhone, it would go dark when I place the phone to my ear, but once I removed the phone from my ear, the display would be there. Thanks!

Man, do you have a screen protector yes or no ?. Because i had the same problem. Look mate, in the HTC there are two sensors. It is on the left as you watch the phone. Sometimes the screen protector becomes dirty, then this brings problem to the sensors. So, if you have screen protector please remove it, so i guess that it will work like the Iphone after. When you have the phone at your ear, the screen becomes black. When you remove it from your ear the screen appears. Did you understand me ?. If you dont have screen protector then we will see. Plz notify me.

Antonios76: Thank you very much for trying to help me and providing the information.
I do not have a screen protector on my HD2. I also keep my screen very clean, too.

Hi,
I have a Hermes, Niki phones
I miss a function found in IPhone "a sensor to lock the screen when you make an aproximity to the ear"
When you make a Phone call or Get incoming call and you move the phone near your ear, the Iphone screen get's dark so there is not unwanted "touch" of icons of the phone, Iphone has a proximity sensor check..
Right now I'm using an application "Phone Screen Lock From Palmaysoft" it works ok, but it's lock the screen just when the partner get's the call.. it's ok, but sometime there is enought time for unwanted touch with the "face" to an icon on the screen
Is there some other way to emulate a Iphone sensor (maybe with the front camera) or get the screen lock just after pushing the "green " button of the phone?
Any Idea??
Thanks!
You can get the screenlock by tapping the power button during a call.
...or using S2U2.

Thanks for that helpful post.
OP, I don't think you'll have any other option. S2U2 has the ability to automatically turns off the screen when the phone call connects, which seems to be exactly the same function as the "Phone Screen Lock From Palmaysoft" mentioned.
I once had an application on my Herald back in the WM5 days. Don't know the name but as soon as i answer the call, the screen turns off.
I believe it was something with Black Call or something.. don't know.
When im back @ home i'll search through my PC to see if i still got it.
I'll let you know!

I suffered with the same problem on my Touch. S2U2 is the best solution. It works perfectly in solving this problem, when you choose the option to black the screen when a call connects. Give it a try - you will love it.

Yep...I totally agree.
A_C made an excelent (killer) program.
proximity sensor
I have s2u2. but my issue is that when another call or text comes thru the phone stays lit. therefore, i hit buttons with my face/earrings.
is there a way i can get around that part of the s2u2.
or is there some sort of program that could be similar to the proximity sensor on the iphone.
of all things in comparison...this is what i like best about the iphone.
thanks
...accidental hanguppper......
search for "lock csdevctrl" - this do the job almost perfectly for me.
and the devel is really brilliant and is ready to make wanted changes really fast.
cu camel
I use PalmarySoft's Phonescreenlock program and I love it... Does exactly what your asking for..

This might seem like a dumb question, and I just got my MTS 2 days ago, so I'm still learning about it, but at the top of the phone, where the LEDs are, what is the function of the opposite side of where you hear your calls? Is it there for looks or does it have LEDs in there also?
it is the proximity sensor... it is what "locks" the screen so you are not activating it with your cheek while on the phone... it also blacks out the screen when you are on the phone
I've always wondered what this was too... thanks for that information.
it also turns the button lights and keyboard lights on/off at certain light levels...that way when its bright it turns the lights off and when ur in the dark the lights come on...i love it!

that seems to be incorrect because i use the headset and if i lift the phone to a certain angle the phone screen turns off, but when i tilt it back down it turns on again. i will look into this more but from what i have seen it is just there to be a little more symmetrical(would you want a phone with asymmetrical looks to it)

no hes right it IS a proximity sensor...go where theres some light and open the keyboard and see if the keylights are on...if so, try to make it brighter...(shine a flashlight at it or something) and the lights will go off...then put your finger over the sensor and the lights will come on...it works, try it...definitely not just for decoration...what you are experiencing is a perfectly normal effect of the proximity sensor doing what it does...no reason to look into it...
or download "Sensor List" from the market and look, it lists the prox. sensor and its data...put your finger over it and watch the output jump...
or run adb logcat and put your finger over it and itll come up with a entry about the light value changing...

without the headset try calling your voice-mail in a lit room and hold the phone away from you and move it all around an at different angles, you will see it makes no changes but just by putting your thumb over that spot it kills the screen and as soon as you remove your thumb it comes back on... might want to actually do some reading or testing before saying someone is wrong. not only would a quick 5 second test show that it is the light/proximity sensor, or you could try a quick google search
You can also have the left light flash for missed messages.
i was doing some testing and i am retracting my statement, you were correct wulf and i am sorry that i doubted this.
hey it's kewl we all make mistakes
im running full stock everything for starters.
When i am in a call sometimes up to my ear or speakerphone the screen will go black and i wave my hand in front of the light sensor and nothing works. The screen stays black. I like having the lock button hang the phone up so i want to keep that option on...
Just wondering why it is doing this, thx.
Its a thing to save battery usage,
do you have a case on it?
from my experimentation, the sensor is somewhere at the top, left of the power button when the phone is facing you.
prehaps your hand, hair, or case is covering it causing it to turn off - as it should
it thinks your in a call and you dont need to look at the screen.
Do your Nexus 6P screen go black during a call. Mine does on every call. My display settings is set for 1-minute. I call Huawei support. The lady says that the screen is suppose to go and stay off during a call. Never heard of that from a phone. You cannot respond or do anything during the call.

Lol - most, if not all do that!
But, it's supposed to come back on when moved away from your ear.
Standard behavior.
You have something blocking proximity sensor?
do you have a screen protector? if so, you need one that has the cut out for the proximity sensor.
happened to me. i thought it was a setting or my phone was defective. Found out it was a early production screen protector that didn't have the cut out for the proximity

I have this problem as well.
You must have a screen protector or tempered glass protector that covers the proximity sensor. The proximity sensor is under the top speaker on the right side bottom right corner. If you don't have a cut out there for the sensor, then that is why your screen is stuck black. If you have no screen protector, you have a real problem. I thought at first it was caused by google voice but after some google searches I seen that the culprit is my screen protector. I am leaving it on till my new one comes in a few days, but you can go to settings->accessibility-> and turn on hang up phone with power button.

The thing is that the phone turns black when I make a call or take a call. As soon as I am in a call. I cannot see the screen in a call or press a number or anything. Its all black. I do have a skinomi screensaver on. Cannot see a sensor anywhere. Are you getting a new phone or screen saver. BTW, I did a factory refresh of the phone. Still nothing. Do you think taking the screen saver off will help?

Yes if you have a screensaver on that's blocking the sensor it won't function correctly. A bunch of people are having these problems with screensavers glass and film ones.

But it's suspicious that the N5/N6 people are having this issue at or near the time Marshmallow was introduced.

Now back after sitting with no calls for a couple hours.

But at least it is not me only and apparently symptomatic with numerous reports in that Google product support forum I posted above.
I had the issue removed the screen protector works fine now.

i have a S6 Edge+ and its got a cracked screen. it has a big black spot the size of a fingertip on the right middle like something stabbed it maybe.
sometimes when i got to wake it up, phone is on and i press the power button the lights on the bottom come on, the cascade window button and the back button............but the screen does not light up. it kind of flickers and i see the permanent damaged part, a green strip down the right side of screen but does not turn on.
sometimes i have to press the power button to wake up and put to sleep 6 or 10 times for the screen to light up.
my question:
do you think this is simply from the screen being damaged.
have you seen anything like this before on a phone
do you think if i spend the money to fix the screen this issue will be fixed?

Fixed by Sony, phone is insured.
Yes, take it to Samsung store to repairing.
Ok, I have booted into safe mode and the problem does not exist. this means its a sofware issue, obviously. Here is the dilemma, I have done factory and hard resets to include the cache partition. How might i go about fixing this issue until they release a new update from android 5.1.1???
Can anybody tell me what core we use to put the touchwiz snappier, I saw one one topic but I can't find it now. We only have to put the code and the phone was so quick like the day we Unbox the phone. Thanks
