Can someone please test if this works? good indication on how the bluetooth works for the Galaxy S.
from the test logs:
"Device/OS pairs that this app probably does not work on:
* Google Nexus One/MoDaCo Alpha r21 Custom ROM Desire Port
* Samsung Moment/Android 2.1 DD10
* Samsung Galaxy Spica/Stock 1.5"
Which worries me slightly....
Doesn't work. App keep saying BT not turned on even though it is in settings. The built in BT scanner can see the wiimote, but unable to connect as it requests for a passcode but the usual ones don't work.
damn! i wonder if its down to a setting somewhere or a more serious issue that causes the other samsung phones to fail at this too.
not sure if you have but try it this way:
Usage:
* turn bluetooth on
* run the app
* if this is your first run, hit Yes. Enable "WiiControllerIME". This is only needed once right after installation
* tap the first button and at the same time put your Wii remote in discovery mode by pressing "1" and "2" simultaneously
* wait for the "Connected" message to appear. The first LED will turn on on the Wii remote
* back in WiimoteController tap the second button and select WiiControllerIME
* done. The Wii remote is connected. Go play!
* if you want to connect more than one Wii remote, follow the same procedure, but put ALL the remotes to discovery mode
* to disconnect a single Wii remote, hold the power button on it
* to disconnect all Wii remotes, use the option from the menu or simply turn the phone's bluetooth off
* don't forget to set your favorite IME back or you won't be able to type (or check Preferences to find an option to do that automatically)
thats from the authors post on how to do it...

Nope, it doesn't work. I have no problems with reading english.

well as you connect the phone to USB, a Pop up screen from HTC appeas=rs
it is asking about what kind of connection you want to use.
* Active sync
* Disk drive
* Internet sharing
so why not a Car option?
for example
if i connect the power supply of the car, the pop up comes up, but i have nothing to choose.
but if the option was there for driving car, and then this option would do the following.
it would be great.
for instance,
* start Blue tooth (for handsfrea speaking)
* Change letter font zise to big (so the message`s can be read from the dash mount)
* Change phone settings to auto anser the phone after three rings
and offcourse change the settings back to normal when the power source is disconnected.
and maybe there are other options that makes driving easyer.
maybe even make a setting screen for things that you like to change for the driving settings.
unfortunaly i dont have any knowledge about programming so i leave it up for you wizzards to check out if it is possible.
very cool idea i vote for that too
Hi All,
I've tried KeyPro and BlueInput to try and get my Freedom Universal 1 bluetooth keyboard working on my HD2 running MCCM's Desire Build v4 and no luck
I can get the keyboard to pair with KeyPro and SPP protocol but not connect and could get nothing with BlueInput and HID protocol
Anyone out there had any success with connecting a Bluetooth keyboard that may be able to offer me some tips or step by step to get mine working... or even suggest a different Android build that might work?
Thanks
Shameless bump! Is there no one that can help?

Yes, there is a simple procedure for doing this:
1) Enter the wireless & networks section of the settings menu on your Android 2.3 device
2) Make sure Bluetooth is turned on, then enter the Bluetooth settings menu.
3) Turn on your HID device and enter pairing mode
Your keyboard should show up as its self
4) Touch and select pair with this device, when prompted enter a pin code (choose your own, I used 1234)
6) On the your bluetooth keyboard enter the same code followed by the enter key.
(This worked for me on 2 different HID keyboards.)

I have similar issue with HTC Desire HD running Droid 2.2.1
I have Freedom Universal Keyboard (v1 and v2)
I can see the keyboard in Bluetooth and can pair (using 0000 1234 1111) putting this in the keyboard too, but when I hit enter on the keyboard it says "paired but not connected"
I installed KeyPro and can scan and find the keyboard
I unselect Use Native Library
When I select KeyPro as the input method it comes up with a KeyPro icon "Connecting" but nothing happens after that
I have tried pressing the B key and entering the same code on the keyboard as entered on the phone when pairing (followed by enter) but to no avail
Just tried BlueInput - what an awful looking app. again it discovers the keyboard but says "ERROR: Failed to open connection to KEYBOARD"
Any tips please?
Last ditch attempt bump
Before going and buying Freedom Pro keyboard the manufacturer simply say Universal and Universal 2 too old...
Shurely Shome Mishtake?
I bought myself a BT keyboard and the supplied driver wont activate (problem with the manufacturer)
I used BlueInput which does work but I had to follow the instructions on their site as you do the steps in a different sequence.
Its not the best but it does work, there is a HID Android driver on XDA somewhere but this would not work with my keyboard
Hi
I am typing this from a freedom universal 2 kb that I just got somewhat working on my htc EVO 3D. The basic keyboard works fine (only in HID) but the special fn's do not. As it was a bit tricky and inconsistent I thought this post might help.
What I learned is this
I can pair but not connect the kb to the phone in SPP
Passcode prompt for above is always 4 digits
I can pair and connect the kb to KeyPro in SPP
I cannot pair (nor connect) the kb to KeyPro in HID
I can pair and connect the kb to the phone in HID
The passcode prompt for above varies from 4 to 7 digits. Read below.
Regarding the latter above, this was tricky. If you get a 4 digit passcode prompt (0000 or 1234) it would pair but not connect.
Turn off the phone bluetooth and turn back on and rediscover the keyboard until you get a 7 digit passcode then type it into the kb and hit enter. Do not make the phone discoverable. Let the phone find the kb. This pairs and connects great every time you on| off the kb.
So I conclude that since KeyPro only works in SPP, but the phone cannot , KeyPro cannot be used.
But the kb can in HID with the phone. I still can set the input method to KeyPro so
The phone does not pop up the input or swipe kb when I choose to use my bluetooth kb.
Also, tried the Freedom Pro android driver but would not connect to the Universal 2 kb.
OH WELL, AT LEAST I CAN USE IT FOR BASIC TYPING IN CONJUCTION WITH A FEW POKES ON THE TOUCHSCREEN TO NAVIGATE BETWEEN APPS. How I got cap locks to somehow work on this last line I still can't figure out. This is the one thing that doesn't work on the kb and I have been trying to figure out. If some knows how I did this please reply.

For as far as I know no BT Keyboard works on any Android rom with Sense.
Correct me if I'm wrong
Hi
I'm not a dev just a power user. I'm again using my BT kb to input this reply. I'm on a stock EVO 3D using Android 2.3.4 and Sense 3.0 stock (not rooted). Works great. The OS has provisions for HID support but not SPP support.
Also, BlueInput did not work. Guess I'm waiting for the OS to offer SPP support before I can use KeyPro.
Tricky Bussiness
I'm posing this I finally figured out how to get my keyboard working from some of the sugestions in this Group, I have a generic keyboard I got from ICEMonkey.com 14.99.
At 1st it wouldn't pair and the instructions leaves something to be desired. (I can't even tell you who made this KB)
So How I got it to work
1.)Installed Bluetooh Keyboard Easyconnect
2.) Rebooted -- Important Step
3.)Tried to Pair and was asked for a passcode
4.)Used a SEVEN digit code. I used four and it would pair but not connect.
5.)Then entered that code on the keyboard and press enter on the keyboard
When I did that the KB connected in HID mode
It still works!
Thanks a lot! Your advice is spot on. It works on my Galaxy Note 8.0 running 4.2.2. The crashes go away after keying in the registration key.

Universal 2 KB working on Samsung S3
I recently picked up a "Freedom Universal 2 Keyboard" produced in 2008 by Freedom Input.
That company has now disappeared into a larger entity and all the keyboards up to the Freedom Pro (2010) have been discontinued. They are getting hard to find, but remain a favourite amongst users. Limited support remains available online.
The Google Play Store apps are a mixed bag. "I-Connex Freedom" app explicitly reports it does not support the Universal 2. "KeyPro" does work with the Universal 2 but requires a fairly hefty payment to get full access.
I found a free Android 2.x through 4.x driver produced by Freedom Input that is still available from their support site online:
Driver name: prokeyboardsettings-1.0.25.apk (79.36 KB)
Location: http://freedom.helpserve.com/Knowledgebase/Article/GetAttachment/59/2339
Information: http://freedom.helpserve.com/Knowledgebase/Article/View/59/0/freedom-pro-keyboard-android-driver-android-20-up-to-40
For my S3, it turned out to be fairly straightforward:
1. Transfer .APK file into my rooted phone, launch a file manager, install the .APK
2. Turn on Bluetooth on phone
3. Switch the keyboard to HID and press the large "B" button (top left of keyboard) for 5 seconds to make keyboard discoverable.
4. Pair the keyboard from the phone's bluetooth settings page.
5. Choose "connect" once pairing completed. Tap the gear symbol next to "Freedom keyboard" if necessary to begin the process.
6. Enter the code using the keyboard that appears on a pop-up screen on the phone, and press Enter/Return.
7. Once connected, the keyboard can be disconnected and reconnected from its settings screen inside the phone's Bluetooth settings, without re-entering a code.
8. Launch a programme that requires typing and start using the connected keyboard. There may be a slight delay between key-press and on-screen result, especially at the very beginning. So far I find lag is acceptable based on my 50wpm typing speed.
I have found that I can enter text both from the on-screen keyboard and the Universal 2 keyboard without switching back and forth.
Hope this helps anyone working with this very handy legacy hardware. Since the Freedom keyboards all relied on removable AAA batteries, they will not become paperweights due to the inevitable failure of unremovable internal rechargeable batteries. Depending on how you treat them and what becomes of smartphone technology, these keyboards could well last a number of years into the future.
Thanks, works on Galaxy Tab Pro
Many thanks for this post. I've had the Freedom keyboard gathering dust and never been able to get it work with any Android device. Now have it working effortlessly on Galaxy Tab Pro.

Hey Guys,
I noticed the Amazon Fire TV was actually misreading the Dual Shock 4 Controller as The Amazon Fire Controller, which caused some mismapped keys and weird analog jumps and jitters and came up with a .KL file that fixes all that.
You need to be rooted for this to work.
Copy my file to you system/usr/keylayout folder and disconnect your controller, then reconnect. Your buttons will be set.
I mapped the buttons like a Dual Shock 3 but kept the axis items for GAS & Break the same. The Touchpad is mapped as Menu, With Back and Home being Removed for full control in Emulators. Heres all the info if you wanna make your own modded version. Just edit the .kl file i included and you should be fine.

With this method can i pair multiple Dualshock 4 controllers to the same Amazon Fire TV? Also is there a kl file for PlayStation 3 Dualshock 3 controllers? from my understanding dualshock 3 dont work correctly.
Im glad it could help! I was thinking you could just have them copy and paste it using es File explorer?
@mejdam
I haven't tested that out yet and that was the reason I even started this whole thing lol.
It may be linked to the IME (Input Method) being locked. Im looking for a way to allow other IME's to work which should circumvent this problem, but i'm hoping that now that we have the matching Vender/Product.KL file for the ds4 in place, maybe it will read now. or at least make our lives a little easier.
Your Fire TV Box has the .kl file for DualShock 3 controllers already. You need to use Sixaxis tool to pair it correctly. I dont have any DS3 controllers anymore to test if its functional or not
would it be possible to make a red samurai controler from gamestop appear like a ps3 controller using this method?

I can't seem to get my ps4 controller to pair up with the FTV. I'm holding the share and home button on the ps4 controller to put it in pairing mode, then going to the setting on the FTV. It recognizes it as a wireless controller, but when I select it, it eventually just gives me an error message saying pairing was unsuccessful. I tried to get it working through the sixaxis controller app but that didn't work either. What am I doing wrong?

I have this exact same problem - here's a more detailed breakdown of what happens for me:
Have never attempted to pair (either of 2) DS4 to my FTV.
Installed this file to my FTV successfully, I think? There wasn't a lot of feedback from the terminal during the process so I assume it worked - I didn't get any error messages, at least...
Rebooted FTV per instructions.
Start controller pairing on my FTV
Put DS4 into pairing mode (light bar blinks to indicate pairing)
FTV sees controller
Select controller with FTV remote to start pair
DS4 goes OUT of pairing mode (almost as if it did pair successfully) and LED blinks slowly a few times, then turns off
Turning DS4 back on causes the LED to flash white a few times then turn off again.
FTV never successfully completes pairing process.
Anyone have any ideas on why this works for some people and doesn't work for others?
I have not installed any APKs designed to pair controllers like the DS3, but from what I know those are only necessary for pairing a DS3, and aren't necessary for pairing a DS4, correct?
I have NOT applied the "remote control" firmware update because it seemed kinda pointless, but I should have the latest AFTV firmware running. I doubt the remote control firmware is relevant here, but thought it bore mention all the same.
I've tried this with the DS4 unplugged, plugged into the FTV USB, plugged into a wall charger - no joy from any of these.
FTV does work with the DS4 via USB, but I'd prefer not to buy a 10ft USB cable to use my wireless controller...

R2 and L2 not working
I'm having trouble with R2 and L2 not registering in games. Every other button works great. I've remade the .kl file as well without success. Anyone else having this problem, or know how to fix it? Gamepad Tester shows that everything is mapped correctly on the Fire TV
To anyone with pairing problems, I got mine to work by installing the "Settings" APK and pairing it there. After that I didn't have any more issues seeing the DS4.

I'm having the same issue. I futzed around with the keybinds for a bit: I can rebind other controls to R2 and L2 (e.g. I can make the AFTV think I'm pressing A by pressing R2), but I can't rebind R2 and L2 to other controls (e.g. I can't press the triangle key and make the AFTV think I'm pressing R2). In other words, the scancodes 310 for L2 and 311 for R2 are working just fine, but mapping any key to BUTTON_L2 or BUTTON_R2 seems to make that key functionally inert.
My only other guess (based on the comments in the DS3 .kl file, and an offhand mention by the OP), is that this has something to do with the GAS and BRAKE triggers; resetting them to the DS3 defaults didn't seem to do anything for me.
No pairing problems on my end, at least.
EDIT: Found a solution (that works for me, at least)! Changing the GAS and BRAKE values to the following fixed it for me:
axis 0x04 GAS
axis 0x03 BRAKE
cant pair

To anyone with pairing problems, I got mine to work by installing the "Settings" APK and pairing it there. After that I didn't have any more issues seeing the DS4.

where did you get settings apk?
I believe he is talking about the settings.apk in this thread

I am having the same issues as you. I sideloaded the settings.apk a few minutes ago. You then open it from the Firetv and go into the bluetooth menu.
It says I'm paired but cannot use the controller for menus currently as it turns itself off after being paired.
Will play with this a bit and report back if it works.
Update: Not working for me. DS4 still shuts itself off like it's timing out. I've spent 3 hours on this, getting very frustrated, time for bed.

Try this, once you select wireless controller pair hit return key on fire TV remote it should be paired but battery is off. Can’t figure that part out.

Sorry guys I've been a bit MIA. Work has been keeping me busy.
@meadtj Yes, you can but you will need to find the correct mappings for the red samurai controller. Download Keytest.apk and write down the scancodes of each joystick push and button press on your joystick.
@mejdam Look at my new post here for the Workaround for playing 2 to 4 player multiplayer games including Joystick to Touch Screen and mouse games(Flash). It works virtually with all apps Here:

I'll look into this weird Bluetooth Non Pairing issue in a bit.My DS4 is Paired fine and im on the the last major update with Freetime and the other tweaks installed. I'll see whats up.

Hi there - i'm new to both xbmc and amazon tv. I'm looking to map the Mele F10 Pro remote - in particular the microphone on it so that it work like the stock remote. Is there a tutorial on how to go about this you can link me to?
thanks
This file works for some games, but not for others. I was able to remap the gas-break for Airborn 8. However, some games will not recognize the PS4 controller. For example, I cannot use “Naught 2″ because it does not recognize the D-pad or the ‘A’ button. Also, the game “Hero to Many” does not recognize the L/R triggers or the D-pad.
I have repeated the install instructions and completed a factory reset… same issue.
Perhaps the controller needs an update?
Has anyone successfully been able to use a bluetooth barcode scanner while at the same time use the device keyboard (Samsung Keyboard or Google Keyboard)? I have an Inateck BCST-10 that I am trying to connect to my Galaxy Tab 4 10.1". Whenever I pair the barcode scanner to the tab, it does not allow me to use my device keyboard for text input. Typically one might go to the settings menu and change the keyboard to whatever you wanted to by tapping "Select Input Method". However, when I connect the bluetooth barcode scanner, this option does not appear in the settings menu. It disappears and reappears as soon as the scanner is disconnected. I am trying to use this setup in a manufacturing environment to track barcoded goods and materials from location to location at a single plant. So, I need to be able to scan a barcode and then key in some data without disconnecting and reconnecting the scanner every time. Thanks in advance for the help! Much appreciated!
You need the right scanner.....
Most scanners don't have that ability. I think that on the BCST-10, you pull the trigger 2x quickly (at least in iOS, don't know about Android)
Barcodeguy dot com bluetooth barcode scanners can disconnect (and pop up the soft keypad) by pressing the side button. Just press the side button again to make the soft keypad disappear.
Let me know if this helps!

That's right, I currently have a PS3 controller working via internal BT on my rooted TN7 running 4.3 JB.
It all started with me looking for any new info on if/when we will get Lollipop and I found a Tegra Note Google+ page ( https://plus.google.com/communities/107930429626808861984 ) . Then I saw this post https://plus.google.com/+LeidivalSilvaSales/posts/TnDVpXqUCau and in the comments on this post a guy claiming that it was working on his TN7 https://plus.google.com/113859637427636372771/posts/22eAWCYqN1W
I hadn't tried to pair the controller in awhile and there were some updates to the Sixaxis app since then so I reinstalled installed Sixaxis Compatibility Checker. At first it didn't seem to work but here is the key, assuming the BT address in the controller had already been changed to match your device the controller has to be off or charging and you unplug it AFTER you hit the start button on the app. If the lights are blinking before you hit start it won't pair. After doing this the app paired the controller and registered all button/joystick inputs! I immediately bought the full Sixaxis app and with a little configuration was using the controller with ePSXe. Vibration doesn't seem to work but all the buttons/joysticks do. I haven't tried the tilt function yet. I'm so happy, I don't own a ps3 and bought the controller specifically to use with the TN7 and its been collecting dust for over 6 months because it didn't work.
If anybody doesn't believe me I can post a video.
I do not understand
I do not understand your tutorial, I am sorry.
What do I have to do?
I have
- rooted TN7
- installed Sixaxis Controller App
- DS3-Controller, with changed BT-Adress to fit my TN7
- USB-OTG-Cable
What is the exact order to make it work via bluetooth?
By connecting my DS3-Controller via USB-OTG all lights are blinking (there is no way to prevent this).
Thank you in advance!

Update1:
Oh, nevermind my post I found out myself..
1. Change the DS3-Controller Master-Adress to fit TN7 (by using MotionInJoyDriver and Configuration with BetterDS3_1.5.3)
2. Have the SixAxis-App running
3. Connect the DS3-Controller via USB-OTG to the TN7
4. Press Pair in the App, and set that checkmark to always set that adress for your usb-device
5. Press Start in the SixAxis-App (wait a few seconds, until everything is loaded)
5.1. Now the lights on the controller are blinking (or they were blinking before)
6. Press some buttons on your controller, by still having it connected via USB-OTG, to look, if it is working.
7. Hide SixAxis-App and bring it to front again
8. Hide SixAxis-App and unplug for Controller from that USB-OTG-Cable
9. Bring SixAxis-App to front and try to push some buttons on your controler (it is now working wireless).
Now you have successfully configured your DS3 with your TN7.
To make it always work via bluetooth finally do the following:
1. Make sure your gamepad is turned off
2. Open SixAxis-App and hit Start
2.1. Wait until everything (that driver stuff) is successfully loaded
3. Press Home on your DS3-Controller (now your Controller is connected to your TN7)
4. Celebrate that day and have fun playing games
Perhaps a few steps mentioned here are not necessary, but that is the way I made it work with my TN7.
It's also still working after a (soft) restart of my TN7.
Yayness!
I'm not exactly sure what the revelation here is... I've been using my PS3 controller with my TN7 for ages with the Sixaxis app. Glad it works for you too!
